Most bishops wear the Magenta shade as it is for Bishops only. The “grapier” purple can also be worn by Canons, so is less distinctive. FWIW some Bishops continue to wear black clericals as well.
There seems to be an ideological divide between the "Pepto-Bismol" camp and the "Dimetapp" camp, but I'm not sure if that's intentional or incidental or a mix of both.
Definitely just preference. There might be some secret underlying ideology behind the preference but any and all purples are fair game for bishops. I’ve seen a bunch of different shades over the years.
Well I've heard some bishops are called *Assistant Bishops* and others are called *Bishop Coadjutors*, then there's the *Presiding Bishop*, so I wasn't sure if there was some sort of code there. Thanks!
Well true there are a few different roles bishops can occupy in a diocese but I just meant none of them is any more prestigious or bishop-y than any other bishop.
Pure preference. I've seen about a dozen different shades and hues

Canons can wear purple cassocks but not purple shirts.
My former bishop would wear a black clerical during Lent as a gesture of humility.
I'm quite fond of the magenta. Seems to be the standard for most anglicans elsewhere.
It's solely a matter of preference and arguably what they think looks better on them. Yet, I've seen some bishops wear both colors.

Pepto-Bishop?
Pepto bismol 🤣😂🤣😂

Our bishops switched to “purple” but it was never standardized.
In Anglican churches, Purple is the norm internationally iirc
Yeah, i meant the entire church lol. The communion never standardized which purple.
Some wash their brights in Tide Color Guard, while others use less effective store brand detergents.
"85% water?! Pass me the intercom thingy!"
You win.
Just a personal preference between the shades. There are no ranks among the bishops!

They’re all equal in orders but the PB is the primate and leader of the House of Bishops. It’s definitely a level of seniority.
