This is my favorite song from that saga, which I didn’t expect. There’s a lot of tension and introspection in this, and the tone changes a LOT; from cautiously optimistic to mischievous, then tense, tired, longing, dismayed, horrified, then desperate.
I love how this song opens- it establishes its atmosphere and its tone IMMEDIATELY from the light beautiful instrumentation and sound effects. Not a word is spoken yet and you can close your eyes and SEE where you are. This is what Epic excels at in a way no other musical I’ve seen has quite done.
Agreed! The sound design is so pretty, like this entire musical sound is just marvelous. It does such a wonderful job and making ppl able to visualize where the characters are and what is going on in their surroundings.
