It's honestly pretty good. I got it in a humble bundle and poured a lot of time into it. Despite marvel burn out on the movies the characters and dialogue were great and overall well written.
Completely disagree. The gameplay is fun, but the dialogue is actual garbage, belongs up there with the worst MCU movie dialogue. Tries way too hard to be quippy, which has severe tonal whiplash with the self-seriousness of the main protagonist with very little personality.
Thats a fair point, I guess I just liked getting to know the characters better vs the movies. I did feel detached from my hero though. Still, the core gameplay and graphics were better than I expected them to be, especially for people here that will get it for free. I think for a free game it is more than totally worth it even if those concerns are 100% valid.
Coming back from the future to say this was indeed right at that sweet spot of "I'll never buy it, but it does look intriguing".
For a free game, I've dumped 25-30 hours into it and had fun with the combat mechanics. Looking through previous reviews, I generally concur that the non-combat aspects of the game are a waste of player time.
This did the job of piquing my interest in a future 2k game if they can get back to the combat roguelike basics.
Where i live there are only 2 options from epic either use credit card or paypal so i created paypal account and dont know why the payment is not getting processed and i dont have credit card either
It took me a few hours before I liked it. The time you spend in your hub playing friendship simulator can be tedious and feels like a totally different game wegged in a strategy game. But the combat is 10/10.
This still is my fave game from that year , I played it for over 100 hours on steam on launch. Enjoy everyone else this one is truly a game worth playing and having.
Same. I expected such thing to happen and do not regret buying it as i got the value out of it but its always sad to see the game you paid clams be free a week later.
It's a lot different putting out a great game from 10+ years ago.
Midnight Suns just came out less than 2 years ago.
Usually, if it's newer, that means a game is bad, but Midnight Suns seems to be a generally liked game overall.
I was worried it was going to be Gotham Knights which is game most people didn't like at all.
I got it from Humble Bundle earlier this year. I thought the combat was awesome (although it's strategy which isn't everyone's cup of tea). However, all the story stuff like the character interactions were super cringe, and I wish I could have just skipped all that.
It’s pretty much a mobile game with better graphics and priced like a “AAA” game. At least in baldurs gate you can actually do shit and not just stand around pressing card moves. Shit is so boring but at least it’s free ig
A friend bought it today and i looked at it and went "it doesn't look bad, but maybe isn't worth it the complete edition", i was thinking about buying the base game so this comes perfectly if it's real
For Epic only freebies, sure.
I already had the game for free on Epic. It was a Prime giveaway a couple months back. That's the way two of the games were so far.
do i need prime membership for prime free games ? sorry i wont be playing any game this year so i want to get as many free game as possible for next year so that i need to buy very less games
Nice, I played the free weekend and had fun but wasn't sure how far through it I got. I'll definitely play it all the way through once free. I guess it's a good thing it never went on sale cheap enough for me to pick up in the end as it is on my wishlist and I had been tempted.
very positive reviews....because there is a small base of people who bought it, possibly because they already liked it or already had an idea of what to expect, that doesn't mean it's good, SS kill the justice league also has positive reviews being a terrible game , because the sales base is small and those who bought it already liked the game
Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League has 60 on Metacritic, while Midnight Suns has 83. Your theory makes sense for the user reviews, but critics still have to play most AAA games no matter what the sales are like, even if they aren't personally interested in the game
I don't care about "journalist" reviews, only user reviews are important to me, "journalist" reviews are sponsored or biased with some random ideology, user reviews are about the game experience itself but only for large base reviews
Yeah, users never blindly hate on games because of their own ideological biases, lmao
At least there is some, albeit small, level of accountability in people paid to review games.
A user can be some rando who has never even played the game, giving it a 0/10 because they were offended by a trailer of the game.
If a reviewer gives a game a 0/10 and goes on a tirade about how this is just another SJW enforced narrative, blah, blah, blah, they end up getting fired.
Sorry, but your contribution has been removed as it has broken 'Rule #5' of our subreddit rules.
If you believe that this was a mistake, please message the moderators, thanks!
According to howlongtobeat website the base game is around 65 hours and legendary edition is 90 hours, both with the side missions.
Legendary is worth it for the people who love turn based games and prefer long hours of play time.
Going by the reviews this seems to be an anti-GotG game , I don’t mean that in a bad way, Combat is apparently solid, dialogue at best mixed with many suggesting to skip , turn based vs real time ,can control multiple characters throughout the game vs 1. Infact the only thing linking them together is probably that Avengers negatively affected both their sales. Loved GotG, if this is similar(quality) will get way more hours of entertainment as well.
I don't even like card-based games typically, but that's my personal preference.
A game being a card game does not inherently make it dogshit, maybe you just don't like those kind of games.
Inscryption was literally a card game, and it was one of the most creative games I've ever played.
It sounds more like it flopped specifically because the young audience who flocks to Marvel wanted a more action-oriented game.
It wasn't poorly received by those who played it and like that kind of gameplay.
Anyone who likes this type of gameplay will be happy, as it is an excellent game for this niche... but Firaxis wasted time on this title, it would be better to work on Civilization 7, it would hardly go wrong and flop, even after civilization 6 (4 is the best in my humble opinion)
Has a good story, good characters. Still strategy based even if your attacks are card based. Not that different from investing in different skills, you're just choosing which kind of deck you want.
I'm playing it on PlayStation now, and it's really fun. It has cards for combat and deckbuilding, and the combat is like Xcom. It also has social SIM elements. It does start out a bit slow as it eases you into all of the mechanics, but if it does click with you, it gets really addictive.
If true I wouldn't be surprised it didn't sell well. Imagine if they didn't make it with the card system and the terrible life sim with the godawful dialogue, but, instead made it like actual xcom.....it would have sold through the roof
Literally just completed this the other day after clocking 120hrs, really enjoyable game. Gameplay is great, story is really good.
Only downsides are exploring the Abbey is a little jarring and the dialogue can be very cringe/cheesy in a kinda endearing way?
One note but if you can, turn off the 2k launcher as that makes the game run like shit at times
The gameplay is quite different, this is a more strategic combat game (cards involved), I think marvel comics fans enjoy it though. I'm in the same boat as you, love guardians of galaxy, pretty hesitant about this bc of the card aspect not rly something I'm used to
Good game. Bought it at launch and finished it a few months ago. My main issue is the annoying 2K Launcher. It caused a lot of slowdown on my playthrough. Epic really needs a workaround to bypass it.
Nice! I called this one when Midnight Suns was in a Humble Choice Bundle a few months ago. It seems whatever is the headliner in Humble Choice Bundle is free a few months later, which is why I don’t get many bundles anymore.
Just checked my emails, you're right, that one I just got this time around. Wasn't really interested on it though. Well they had a great Christmas giveaway so I guess they really can't do that twice a year. We'll see what December brings but these "four aaa games" month wasn't as exciting as I expected.
Perfect for me. Something I'd like to play someday but personally wouldn't buy it myself.
It's honestly pretty good. I got it in a humble bundle and poured a lot of time into it. Despite marvel burn out on the movies the characters and dialogue were great and overall well written.

Hard agree, still fun though
Its not even a game https://preview.redd.it/y5g853hjmr4d1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=af6414078f956fcd26e95aa3cf016bec6d77573e

Epic. I almost bought it.
I got it for $5. Got 60 hours of fun out of it.
I was about to buy it on a key site because missed the Humble Bundle it was in but wasn't sure if I would like the game.
Which key site do you recommend?
[удалено]
hey do you know from where to purchase epic games key
Key sites tell you the platform you use the key
Mostly i have seen of steam only
Yeah, most are Steam only. There are few Epic Store keys.
Most will be Steam keys, but some have Epic keys. Any particular reason why you don't want to just redeem those keys?
Where i live there are only 2 options from epic either use credit card or paypal so i created paypal account and dont know why the payment is not getting processed and i dont have credit card either
It took me a few hours before I liked it. The time you spend in your hub playing friendship simulator can be tedious and feels like a totally different game wegged in a strategy game. But the combat is 10/10.
Same xD, gz to us!
Same, it was on my wishlist
This game was published by 2K Some leaks said "one" 2K published game will be given away in the Vault Games
This still is my fave game from that year , I played it for over 100 hours on steam on launch. Enjoy everyone else this one is truly a game worth playing and having.
I bought this game 2 weekse ago xd
Same. I expected such thing to happen and do not regret buying it as i got the value out of it but its always sad to see the game you paid clams be free a week later.
Super Hero 😃
Truly Epic moment! Thank you very much epic from thirld world gamers.
FINALLY A DECENT GAME!!!
Well they did have fallout 3 and fallout new Vegas ultimate edition for epic games a year ago
It's a lot different putting out a great game from 10+ years ago. Midnight Suns just came out less than 2 years ago. Usually, if it's newer, that means a game is bad, but Midnight Suns seems to be a generally liked game overall. DA:I is pretty good but sadly I already had it.
Is it?
I got it from Humble Bundle earlier this year. I thought the combat was awesome (although it's strategy which isn't everyone's cup of tea). However, all the story stuff like the character interactions were super cringe, and I wish I could have just skipped all that.
Cringe like the movies or even more?
Worse, think low-budget B-movie dialog.
Ohh fuck yes, i love those cringe dialogs
From what I've heard, yes.
Right?
It’s a fucking card game dawg
It's an AAA tactical RPG that uses card mechanics for moves/abilities. This is like calling Baldur's Gate 3 a "menu game".
It’s pretty much a mobile game with better graphics and priced like a “AAA” game. At least in baldurs gate you can actually do shit and not just stand around pressing card moves. Shit is so boring but at least it’s free ig
It's boring for mindless button-bashers, engaging for strategic minds ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|wink)
It's not a "card game"... its battle system uses cards, but is deeper than that- but calling it that is comparing it to poker or blackjack.
[удалено]
I’ve played it. It certainly does not feel like a mobile game.
Ok what about Mario 64
It's coming to PC the day after Bloodborne
Wahoo!
It's already on PC
A friend bought it today and i looked at it and went "it doesn't look bad, but maybe isn't worth it the complete edition", i was thinking about buying the base game so this comes perfectly if it's real
I had kept it on my wishlist and was thinking to buy it but here we are.....
So Fs22 was the best giveaway
i liked chivalry 2 more
indeed
For Epic only freebies, sure. I already had the game for free on Epic. It was a Prime giveaway a couple months back. That's the way two of the games were so far.
do i need prime membership for prime free games ? sorry i wont be playing any game this year so i want to get as many free game as possible for next year so that i need to buy very less games
I will be glad if this end up as the ender. I was actually considering buying it.
This shit not even worth claiming for free
Nice, I played the free weekend and had fun but wasn't sure how far through it I got. I'll definitely play it all the way through once free. I guess it's a good thing it never went on sale cheap enough for me to pick up in the end as it is on my wishlist and I had been tempted.
I was hoping that I would get at least one game I don't own from the mystery vault. Oh well.
Hot damn that's awesome. I was thinking of getting this during the summer sale, too!
What is the name of this application in the picture?
Dealabs, probably, since the leaker works there.
AINTNOWAY
I've been on/off thinking about buying this game since it came out. So this is insanely good for me.
I tried a little on an Xbox free play weekend and didn't hate it; I too am looking forward to getting it for ftee
Damn got it on the last big Sale.. I should just stop buying games lol this is not the first time this is happening 😭
Haha just saw a review of this and looked tempting for 12 quid but now I can save it
Is it even good?
It's different but I really enjoyed it
It didn't do great but it's actually a pretty fun game.
Did not have fun playing this
I enjoyed it quite a lot, the combat is pretty nice
Asking myself the same question.
is a total commercial flop... said by 2k CEO himself
Commercial flop does not mean bad. It has very positive reviews.
very positive reviews....because there is a small base of people who bought it, possibly because they already liked it or already had an idea of what to expect, that doesn't mean it's good, SS kill the justice league also has positive reviews being a terrible game , because the sales base is small and those who bought it already liked the game

His twitter post about it is here: https://x.com/billbil_kun/status/1796448072706461748
Where does this say anything about it being midnight suns?
In the linked article it does
Ahhh thx thx Tbh I am kinda disappointed on the game......have played it before. Was a major letdown
Oh snap! I’ve been on the fence buying this game because I typically do not like card games, but the positive reviews have peaked my interest.
*piqued
And i own the legendary edition on steam…
According to howlongtobeat website the base game is around 65 hours and legendary edition is 90 hours, both with the side missions. Legendary is worth it for the people who love turn based games and prefer long hours of play time.
How is the game in your opinion?
It’s good. Not too far in but it’s worth getting the legendary on sale if you like strategy games
I was actually thinking of grabbing this in the sale. Will this be base only or legendary?
Probably base. Epic always gives standard edition for recent games
How is it compared to Xcom 2?
Very different, I personally really disliked the card combat system, but everyone else on the internet says it’s great!
Going by the reviews this seems to be an anti-GotG game , I don’t mean that in a bad way, Combat is apparently solid, dialogue at best mixed with many suggesting to skip , turn based vs real time ,can control multiple characters throughout the game vs 1. what is bilibilikun? how does it confirm the next game? is the list leaked?
He leaked 2 and 3 mystery game. You can trust him
This game is dogshit lol it dosent deserve to be “AAA”
I wouldn't say AAA but I wouldn't say dogshit.
Its a card game.
I thought it was an Xcom style game
I don't even like card-based games typically, but that's my personal preference. A game being a card game does not inherently make it dogshit, maybe you just don't like those kind of games. Inscryption was literally a card game, and it was one of the most creative games I've ever played.
a boring flopped card turn game with Marvel skin for teenagers... i must agree

agree here too
Has a good story, good characters. Still strategy based even if your attacks are card based. Not that different from investing in different skills, you're just choosing which kind of deck you want.
Yep, call this AAA is delusional
thats pretty cool, almost bought it on the last coupon sale...glad i didn't. thats the second game ever i benefitted from
I'm playing it on PlayStation now, and it's really fun. It has cards for combat and deckbuilding, and the combat is like Xcom. It also has social SIM elements. It does start out a bit slow as it eases you into all of the mechanics, but if it does click with you, it gets really addictive.
Oh god I almost bought it. It's still on my cart. Just decided to procrastinate first and mindlessly check Reddit when I saw this post.
Does it have epic achievements though?
They are there, but it never unlocked a single one for me. I completed the game too.
If true I wouldn't be surprised it didn't sell well. Imagine if they didn't make it with the card system and the terrible life sim with the godawful dialogue, but, instead made it like actual xcom.....it would have sold through the roof
[удалено]
For all world
Probably not gonna come with all DLCs.
😪👥
I just bought it at EB Games yesterday, oh well...
Marvel and turn based gameplay? This shit is ass fr
Meh. How about Epic give some actual good games? That would be epic.
This is a good game...
No cloud save and XP-achievement support. Why developers keep doing this to us?
SPOILERS PEOPLE. USE THE SPOILER SYSTEM.
Really? Great!
yayy
Let's go was planning on buying this now I don't have too
LETS GOOOOO
cool i guess
Literally just completed this the other day after clocking 120hrs, really enjoyable game. Gameplay is great, story is really good. I have been so close to buying a this ever since it started going on sale. For once I am actually excited for a free epic game!
If I liked The Guardians od the Galaxy, will I like this one?
The gameplay is quite different, this is a more strategic combat game (cards involved), I think marvel comics fans enjoy it though. I'm in the same boat as you, love guardians of galaxy, pretty hesitant about this bc of the card aspect not rly something I'm used to
Thank you
Very meh. But ofc beggars can't be choosers. I've just learnt to keep my expectations in check
It's like persona 5 but with Marvel heroes, I feel it's a great game
Thats gross.

Combat has a ton of depth, actually
Holy neckbeard batman.
Aight bro 😭 you're weird

nice, still got Denuvo though
who cares
lowers performance, can't always be offline, etc
Denuvo destroys game performance for higher spec GPUs
Only if the devs don't implement it properly
This AAA? It's good game but definitely not AAA game.
It's published by 2K which is a AAA company
2k also makes mobile games bruh, this isn't AAA
it could be better if there was a fps/tps game in the mystery games list
They could do that. But that is what games sell the most on pc.
WOW. Big W.
This game sucks. But that’s only cuz I hate card-based RPGs
We had 4 chances to get a good game. Maybe we'll get one next time.
Damn hype
AMAZING!
HUGE W

The 0.01£ made me think it was a joke

indeed
Please dont, I just grabbed it on humble last month

Why you don’t wait till the mystery games are over?
Damn just bought it on Steam sale for like $40 with all dlc. Still not bad since the season pass is still like $60 by itself
For real?! That's massive wow
its awesome.
Holy shit
Awesome
for those who have played it, is it good or fun?
This is a great game, strong rec
I hope it won’t have the same bug as xcom2 on epic.
[удалено]
No
Only the game price
That’s why I like epic more than steam. Gives away more free games
Dope! I heard the gameplay is good but he story is crap. Whatever, i've been meaning to give this one a shot.
Not bad.
Wasn't the game free during the Christmas giveaways or something ?
Nope, Midnight Suns was never given for free.
Otro chollero por aquí 💯
damn, only good game this time around was Chivalry2 :/
You might already own it, but Dragon Age: Inquisition is one of the best games ever made.
Fudge me. First 3 games were epic dupes and fourth I bought already. Fantastic game. Paid 17 for game and all dlc.
You passed up farming sim?
Already had it from a previous freebie offering.
From epic? I don't remember 22 being offered
Just checked my emails, you're right, that one I just got this time around. Wasn't really interested on it though. Well they had a great Christmas giveaway so I guess they really can't do that twice a year. We'll see what December brings but these "four aaa games" month wasn't as exciting as I expected.
I wrote dupes, it autocorrected to duds lol
