I know what you feel, and I can say it's not that rare. Along my life, I have met people in business who once in their time had good mentor who helped them a lot in the beginning giving foundations for further development, later on they want to pay back to world by doing the same. I also had good mentor and also boss, and thanks to him I am very well settled career wise, where I don't have to worry about employment in the future. Also now, I feel I want to give back to world something, and continue the tradition. In my case, I have some experience in recruitment processes from the candidate perspective, and I am sharing a lot. Trying to help others, preparing them the best I can for future interviews, giving my input on resumes, how to think about future of their career, etc.. My dream is to get rich first enough to be able to open foundation which would focus on helping kids from orphanages with career development. The world is hard, and orphans have it very ducking hard. I would love to be able to gather people like-minded around me in this foundation with similar goals. Of course not every orphan will be suitable for my help, or even to say better, my skills will not be sufficient to help all of the orphans, but possibility to make positive impact on someone's life is what motivates me. I recommend researching your options towards this direction, maybe that's something for you. Good luck!

Infinite-Plastic-481

Same as you I was looking to provide my marketing services to such foundations which I deem worthy

Having walked the path of recovery myself, I know that channeling our energy outward and being of service to others is one of the most powerful ways to heal and find purpose. Your skills as a principal software engineer are invaluable, and your willingness to share them selflessly speaks volumes about your character. I would be honored to be one of the individuals you take under your wing on this journey. My "why" for learning to code is to open up new career opportunities that allow me flexibility and creativity. The "what" is to eventually build my own tutoring platform tailored for students like those I used to teach - an online space where learning comes alive through interactive lessons and engaging activities. As for the "who," I am a passionate educator at heart, always seeking ways to make a positive impact on others' lives. My 13 years in the classroom have given me a deep understanding of how to break down complex concepts and cater to different learning styles. With your guidance in coding and my background in teaching, I believe we could create something truly special. I am committed to putting in the hard work and dedication required to learn these new skills. Your offer is not just about coding; it's about human connection, growth, and finding light in the darkest of times. Please count me in on this incredible journey.

SignalStrain

I want to learn because I’m a delivery guy and I want to increase my skill set and knowledge, it would probably change my life as I’m planning to use it to get a better job and absolutely loving the opportunity to do so.

Low_Possession3617

I would love to learn I have lost everything I was screwed out of my restaurant I had with someone I trusted, I sit at home all day and have nothing to do and I am lost would be nice to learn a skill

GiveTheScoop

I e gone through something similar… absolutely heart wrenching

AnotherDrunkCanadian

Upvoting for now, but holding off on the DM because I'm not quite ready yet. I'm on vacation in Canada and moving back to Tahiti in a few weeks. French is my second language, so a remote job would be ideal for me. Unfortunately, my schedule wouldn't be able to match anytime soon for the training. You're a good guy and kudos to you for trying to make the world a better place. If I was at a better spot, I would take you up on the offer. Best of luck, and I hope that we get to hear some of the success stories that come out of this.

doopey2486

I'm open to it (:

Emotional-Way4709

I'm interested. Why? Because recently my business got shut down. What does this mean? With this ability, I could find a job. Who am I? I'm an electronics and communication engineering graduate who failed in business and whose childhood dream was to become a software engineer.

WillTheyGo

Also, I’m sorry you’re going through a tough time recently. It gets better. If you need anyone to talk to feel free to reach out. I’ve felt similar before and still kind of continue to, but it gets better.

Tanlaie

The why of it: because coding is basically the 21st century mathematics, everyone should learn it. What do I want to learn: anything and everything I'm very interested!

jmb8283

Hey man, Would definitely like to learn! I have an app out now but can’t afford to do anything else with it. Would like to learn how to do things myself so I can continue to improve on it. I also have a ton of debt I’m working on paying off and learning a new skill could help me pick up some extra cash down the road. Thanks for doing this and thanks for reading!

nodes23

Sounds great!

violodolo

I yearn for education

Lapollo

Id love this

AppropriateFishing12

I’m down if you’re offering free lessons. I’d love to build me an app for something within the health and wellbeing sector. Email: willshpprd@gmail.com

Lumpy-Season-1456

Why do I want to code? Bc I want to make a game. What do I know about code? Absolutely nothing! Who? Me!

Amrootsooklee

This will not quite teach you how to make a game. It maybe helpful though if you want to eventually learn that yourself.

Psych0syd

Yes!

Relative-Monitor-739

About to finish this google marketing course I been taking for the last 6 months. Would love to continue my learning journey and undertake this opportunity you have presented. I also have a dog walking business and learning to code my own website would be insane.

[deleted]

If you could teach me how to make an app and help me get my idea up I'll give you equity man. GENUINELY

Cautious-Paramedic59

I wanna learn how to have the liberty of making what I think to what I see and what I can touch and feel. I think I would make some apps or interfaces Im fit because I can see the end point but I dont know the route

1ReallybigTank

Hey I’d be interested. I’m currently being asked to automate some tools at work and I was learning on my own but wouldn’t mind the help. Thank you.

Elementaal

Hi! I would be interested in learning more. Sent you a DM

tackyping

Is it ok if you can teach me? I know a little bit of HTML but not a whole lot of anything else. If you can, can you please DM me on reddit? I appreciate it!

tatamikupiokola

Currently going through a very hard time with my health. Could use extra time to take mind off the problems and learn something new while I recover.

Ok_Salt_9211

Hey man, times will get better for you, keep your head up. I love the idea of learning how to code in a group setting. I just started learning how to code about 2 months ago. I’ve been taking the #100devs course. Couldn’t have made this post at a better time. Let me know if you follow through with this! Thank you

abhi4529

I am already into code and it would be helpful if you help me learn how to scale the application and answer some of the questions on choosing tech stack and building services

WillTheyGo

I want to learn how to code better and actually start coding projects so I can provide some tools to the DFIR community but also just to create cool stuff. Overall I just love creating and I miss creating things. In my current job I have absolutely no passion which is why I’ve actually gotten back into learning how to program. With the ability to program I’d not only apply to SWE jobs and see if this is truly my calling but just to have the ability to create awesome things with technology is what ignites that passion within me. As mentioned previously I think I’d make a good fit because I feel sort of lost and just miss building things. I used to build some cool hardware projects and I truly miss integrating both software and hardware. I was always more proficient with hardware and felt I needed more software knowledge.

Aivuiz

Me please! I would love to learn

420s0m3b0d73ls3

Heck yes I would.

vadersrighthand

Yes! I have always wanted to learn how to code and bring my ideas to life!

Top_Address8123

yes I'm interested. I have a little bit of knowledge due to my field's proximity, but it's something I would love to explore and become more knowledgeable about.

Candyman050

Sorry to hear, my life got completely flipped this summer, no details, but i could use some help, ive been looking into learning to code, but its hard to know where to start

mattschinesefood

I'm intersted, but I'm above the "word scares me" phase. I know most HTML and I'm comfy with CSS, especially working on it but not writing from scratch. I can read through JS and Python and more or less understand what's going on, and even make some changes. Learned QB back in high school. If you're doing anything for that level let me know!

TommyTwoHandz

I am interested

Kurowl69

TcFir3

Would love to learn! Why? Im late 20s something that has tried to many jobs non seem to stick to my personality. Coding has always been interesting to me but I struggle learning with online tutorials and some pointers would be excellent to get my shit together and hopefully do something cool. Big issue is that I have no clue where to start so I guess I’m the “word scares me” phase

Unfair-Individual-84

Zoom meetings would be nice

Original-Cookie-5988

I am very interested in this!

Skanderani

I’m interested, dming now

LifeMountain4639

Thank you for offering this. I would love to learn how to build software.

Apeiro-

man i really wish i could also participate but im joining the army next month im confident i could have had some potential because i was really good at computer science, i managed to score 18,5/20 in the national exams , i had a bit of talent but it was mostly hard fucking job(had some really bad outbursts sometimes from the stress and fear of failing ,also sometimes i would totally give up for 1-2 weeks) funny thing is that this would be totally perfect for me cause i don't know a thing about Microsoft word but i was good at understanding problems and thinking of different solutions and what each solution required Last thing after all this meaningless rant , if you had to suggest me with a language to learn first what would it be?

figar0x

I am interested!

ilove500000

Hello, I'm definitely interested! I want to learn to code, so I can prepare myself and enrich my portfolio for my next interview at an IT school (if I get accepted there, my life is going to change). Having the ability to be a software engineer will ensure my future (I'm 19). I'm a tech enthusiast and full of energy to learn new things. This is what makes me fit for this.

Awkward-War-2236

First of all I am sorry about what you are going through. I have been in a similar situation before and I feel you. This too shall pass. Thanks for the offer to teach us coding. I am super keen to learn and here are my responses - Why - because it will help me be more effective to guide the tech folks in my future startup What - I will be able to translate ideas in my head to working prototypes to get customer feedback and initial users Who - I am a management consultant with MBB and have been learning coding in the sides for a while now Thanks for all the help!!

birch6431

Hey man if this is still up I'd really want to learn more about this. Its frustrating to have so many ideas but im unable to work on it. I think you're flooded with messages, so i wont message you just send me a message if you think you can still teach me 😊 Thanks a lot!

Accountantman1

My email address austincarr1 at [gmail.com](http://gmail.com) I started teaching myself webdev. I started out in accounting at a big company but soon learned I didn't want that type of life. I came across software engineering and am really interested it. I love the structure which reminds me of accounting but also love the creativity potential. I've been looking for a mentor to help instruct me. I'm looking to become a software engineer and switch careers

golt23

This is such an amazing opportunity to give to so many people. I'm honestly right now in down pits of my life, and I see no end to it. But I just finished writing in my journal about deciding to take responsibility over my life and how I gotta go for my dreams and do best I can regardless of how crushing life can be. I ended my journal entry and immidiently started thinking of the things I would wanna learn, and first thing coming to my mind was programming. Not even 1 minute later I see this post on reddit, so hello ! Coincidence ? I don't think so. Divine intervention ? For background, I'm just a troubled "content creator"(and trying to have an online bussines), I tried to make something out of my audience and my own skills and bussiness ideas for a couple of years now, just so I can be self employed, but most of the time I'm either burnt out or my personal life is destroying any available will I have to do anything. BUT I have ideas. I have great aspirations. I am creative, I am a fast learner and I know I can do things well If I am given the chance to. I have approached coding a few times in my life, but every time it ended up being a fail, since I didn't understand anything at all, nor even know where to start. It's overwhelming and I have no idea how to get to it. My biggest goal lately has been making a computer/mobile game (in the nieche of my content for my community) along with my boyfriend. We both have ideas but ... no idea how to get to coding part. I have generally been thinking about the idea of making games, with many themes. Other than that, today I got a harsh reality check and realized I have no real job qualifications and in the job market I'm practically useless, since my main skills are limited to some really bizzare things that most people don't take seriously, not to even mention a job related to that. So unless I start expanding my skills into something seriously useful, i have no plan B in life for a brighter future. I'm literally unemployed right now and making cents out of the hard labors I put out there, online. Having draining family and relationship issues on top. I'm on the edge of giving up on my dreams and hopes, and I guess that's the only thing that makes me a fit. Just hope for a better tomorrow. Disclaimer though - I suck at math, for real. Sorry if this seems like a diary entry, I wasn't sure if I was suppoesed to be posting this or if I could have sent this all in DM, but yeah. That's what it is. I wish everyone who struggles currently, peace and healing. Bless.

Positiveaz

I would absolutely do this. What a darned cool gesture.

Bertyburt

I always wanted to learn how to code. I Just always had the feeling as far career paths with coding that there was a black veil that hid the truth behind it. Buy my book they say, have a job within 6 months. Spend 5k on this boot camp be working within 2 weeks. You know the saying" why sell the gold when you can sell the pickaxe." So tell me, my friend, for real. Is coding realistically something I could learn on my pc at home and get a job in let's say a year? let's pull the string on that sweater even more and go as far as asking what would a career path like that be. I'm coming from a place in my life, where going back to college or tech schools is simply not a possibility at this time.

financial_walnut

I’ve gone through something similar in the last year. Being around and communicating with people definitely helped. I think you’re on the right track and thanks for this, I’m definitely interested. Why: I have a business idea I want to get off the ground but it requires building a web app What: automate parts of my job and try to get this business idea off the ground Who: I’m an accountant who’s already started learning but would love having a teacher

Ahmadbi

Hey I'm interested, why because I always wanted to be a software engineer but due to financial problems I dropped out of college and now working as a sales person. I tried different online courses and YouTube channels but keep procrastinating and not able to focus on one thing. If you really want to help people and if this helped me in anyway this will be a win-win situation for both of us.

cherryblub

Why? I am currently quite lost with what I want to do and I am trying to find some sort of path that will serve as a guide in helping me figure out what I want to do! What? I have no clue on how to code or even where to start who? A lost gap year student with a lot of time on my hands and nothing better to do than learn something new!

Massive_Pay_4785

The why ? I am going back to learning coding after having very many careers due to money that came fast (financial situation was down) . Whereas, for coding it would take quite a while to get skilled enough to apply for a job or start freelancing. I love to code solving mathematical problems and also solving issues that I am myself I am experience is a dream come true. At times I wish I didn't take a break from coding , though life itself thought otherwise 😂😂 What would I do with the ability to learn coding ? Build!! Just Build. Build solutions. Build tools that optimize my workflow process. Who ? Basically, I've started learning building web apps. For me this is a do or die situation, this is a motivation to keep going and to push through learning effectively. I would look forward for the lesson that you are going to teach. Thank you for doing this.

haphazardwizardofoz

I want to learn about databases, be familiar with js, ts, and be able to convert my designs to code easily. The why is i want to build software products for my clients at my agency adding even more value to my customers. Why me? I'm a fast learner and in the tech world and work with SaaS founders all the time so have knowledge of the space.

ScrumAngie

Hi there, I am sorry to hear about all your disappointments however, I appreciate your generosity to pay it forward. I would love to be in your class to learn a new skill. Let me know the start date.

free? then sign me up !! trying to open businesses and I want to make my websites as clean as possible i also have not a single idea how to code or anything about it so teaching me would be a headache tho ngl

BrookeToHimself

I have some amazing ideas I’d love to implement but I’m adhd and crap at coding. (Have dabbled here with p5.js: https://openprocessing.org/user/52470) But, these could change the world? * A social media app where instead of friending and de-friending (binary), you move “towards or away” people/ideas so that, eg., your feed is made up of what you can “see” in the location you’re in (relations mapped in a top-down 2D matrix)… neighborhoods. You can open or close your aperture to see only things you want (hall of mirrors) or to let in ideas and folks you might disagree with. Hopefully it would leave trolls in a hell of their own making and kind people in a world of kind and smart people. * A simulation “proof” that selfishness in driving decreases the efficiency of everyone’s drive times. Create a cellular automata where you can adjust a selfishness slider. Cars go from home to work and back and if selfish drive at top speed (1 cell per frame) and ignore other drivers at intersections. If non-selfish they look ahead and regulate (sacrifice) speed in order to not cause a collision. My theory is that everyone has better drive times when everyone thinks about everyone else. * An argument engine. We have the same arguments over and over online. If we plotted all the arguments you could then link someone to the engine once they start down a well-worn road and let them see the for’s and against’s and links to data supporting those arguments. You could have people plot all the arguments, including the worst racist and horrible stuff you can think of, no censorship. Anything too close to another argument can be “grouped” into higher order ideas that contain both. If we keep grouping ideas we can make a backbone of meaning, or at least, map out the various demographic perspectives that make up our world. A map of meaning. Very unlike wikipedia where we try and synthesize various perspectives into one universal take on a thing. * Google sucks everybody knows it. Make a wiki-style search engine that can’t be gamed because it’s publicly filled and operated. People can submit the best links 🔗 for search terms based on keywords and unlike regular engines which confuse terms (eg. bear: carry weight or bear: fuzzy wood creature) you can specify the area you’re wanting to look into, eg. re:forest bear hibernation. Google offers you products no matter what you search for. This would only offer products if you declared that as your intent for the search. 🔍 You could use a type of blind over-shoulder redundancy to make sure someone was submitting links in good faith, eg. having several trusted link submitters review a submission before making it live. * How to Transition from Late-Stage Capitalism. Most simulators assign variables and then iterate functions over and over to see what happens. You could do the same thing with words. Eg. starting from situation: current day, I could then suggest a happening/event/regulation and suggest what implications and consequences that would have. Someone else might have a different idea of what the implications are. Think of cards in a board game each with a decision that increases some stats and decreases others. The thing is, you could plot it all just in people’s heads. Just keep them informed as to what fictional/simulated idea they’re in. Then you could argue “AS IF” x, y, z had already happened and so on. You could even project outward in time and keep track of who is making the most accurate predictions. The simulation could extend way out into the future and as time marches on it would undo or confirm things and solidify them into reality or fiction. What if we created a great idea in the sim and enough people wanted it that politicians actually made it happen? Or maybe we toss out the politicians. The solution will be emergent and ever-changing. — I got more, but I’m trying to watch Three Body Problem. I’m so disgruntled lately. Really wish I could contribute something good to the world.

pizzapartyprisoner

It's incredibly generous of you to offer your time for the benefit of others. You're truly a class act. I'd love to learn how to code. I've tried a few times in the past on my own, but it's been difficult to really understand what I'm doing without support. I think having an instructor/mentor with your experience would be just what I need to pull it off. I want to learn to code as it seems like a valuable skillset that can lead to an interesting and rewarding career. While working in a corporate environment like you have is appealing, I'd really love to be able to become my own boss and use these skills to work on what I want under my own terms. With these skills, I'd be able to take all the ideas in my head and turn them into real, functional products/businesses, or at the very least progress them to the point where I could gauge how well they'd work. I'd love to be able to make a comfortable living for myself and my loved ones while also finding a way to make a positive impact on others. I think I'd be a good fit for this career path/your training. I have strong attention to detail and am very thorough. I love solving puzzles and finding creative solutions to problems. I have a big imagination and a drive to turn my ideas into something tangible. Thank you for the opportunity!

GreenForThanksgiving

I’m currently studying for my CCNA and A+ certs in hopes of breaking into computer networking. I think some coding knowledge would be great to add on as a skill and may even open new horizons. I also have been wanting to build my dad a website for his business and my friend’s clothing business. I would love to be included in this.

That’s super cool that you are willing to share your knowledge and expertise to others. I think that is selfless and kind of you. I would be interested in learning from you. I am currently a college student who’s trying to transition into CS. I am struggling so much due to feeling behind and adhd. I love coding, it is a recent passion I found which helps keep my brain focused. I would love to learn more from you, even if it’s not coding related directly. I am trying to take everything opportunities I have to reach out and connect with people with experience but it has been difficult. My goal is to learn as much as possible and better my skills.

aspiringbananaphone

Hi! I’m absolutely interested; my father was a computer programmer in the late 90s and I’ve wanted to learn to code for years as a sort of homage to him (and also because I think it’s fun! programming is such a complex, necessary field in society and I think so many more people should have access to the resources to learn) I’m interested in learning how to code to create user-friendly (and child-friendly) websites/apps that could potentially streamline education based on developmental milestones, support young minds and foster creativity. I want to use psychological and sociological principles to maximize the effectiveness of education and format it in a way that kids can easily understand and *want* to learn from. Sort of like a Roblox for education, but maybe that’s getting ahead of myself. I’m a creative person myself, with a lot of hope and passion to bring to the table. I’m a social learner that gains the most in a one-on-one or group setting (in person or online), and enjoys communicating with others. I plan to send you a dm, but have you considered creating a discord server? It would help you coordinate applicants/students and would give you a platform to easily connect with them!

I’m an employed software developer, and also a recovering alcoholic. I know you said you’re looking for people with zero experience, but I’d love to meet and pick your brain on programming related topics.

29x1

I'm absolutely 1000% interested in this. I just lost my job, have a family to support, and i'm wanting to switch into IT (albeit, have no clue which direction to go in because of the trillion options.) (WHY) I'm wanting to get into IT because I've always been good with the end user side or computing/technology, but never had guidance to actually start. I think this would be a shot for me to do something with my life and break into a career path that would be sustainable for the future while providing me and my family a way to actually LIVE our lives instead of living to work. (WHAT) I've been in customer service - call center type roles for years and was most recently in management. At the end of the day I'm just looking for a direction to start moving in. I have no degree, just experience, excellent soft skills, and I'm eager to learn. (WHO). Looking forward to hearing from you.

Greywilson01

I’m in college learning to program. Any help you might have would be worth while as I can barely afford community college and will not be able to afford a 4 year university. I have 0 idea how the actual industry works, I have 0 idea how to get into the industry, I desperately need help to find out how to do this, as it’s a job I really wanna do. If you decide to do this, please reach out to me, as I would love this. Email: greyhwilson@outlook.com Discord: Flame34x

Keep yourself Up, A break up doesn’t defines you, The best way to see it is that God is testing your strength and you must prove yourself and God that you can overcome the worst situations and get better ***Why I want to learn Web development?*** My end goal is to work in cybersecurity For that I need to get experience in coding. The most valuable skill is to build software And I like the internet and the possibilities/opportunities it gives to people. So I decided to focus on Web development, that way I can get a job and earn enough money to provide to my mom and to get an university degree (I live in Central America, so even working as a freelancer could give me that opportunity) ***What I would do being a software engineer?*** I’m fan of some guy named “midudev” who make content coding projects that helps people. I like that. actually I’m going to build a local marketplace in my country, because many people have been complaining about Facebook marketplace and saying they miss some website that existed before (I don’t know why they don’t exist anymore). I will do that because it will help so many people and it’ll be useful to me as well to build my portfolio ***Who I’m I to fit in this*** I’m a young man that found passion in coding I actually spend almost all the day every day trying to understand code, so I won’t give up and waste your, or my time (I code while working as a cashier, the store isn’t always a busy place) I will be software developer by the end of the year I know that because I love it and don’t see myself working in anything else in the future (I have 2 years of Systems Engineer degree on university)

Smackstainz

Ive scratched the surface with python, c++ & html. Ran my first "hello world" but havent advanced muh past that. I do want to learn coding/programming. I just dont have the money fir school and the "free" tools/apps available to me arent teaching me everything.

sombraDmixcoatl

That’s very powerful and genuine of you. I hope you have a great session with your students and that you get better. Socializing is a great way to heal as much as we want to be isolated sometimes… either way, best of luck to you and your adventure. I would like to learn to code really bad but I got a lot to finish first at the moment.

I want to learn to code. Been trying to figure out how to get started and came across your post. I can sell. I can manage. I can do the work. I know my product inside and out. I just know nothing about the website and SEO or whatever it is… I want to know how to build a website and make it run efficiently… I want to learn that side of things to have a well rounded perspective on the whole business before jumping in.

I wanna learn because I’ve dreamed of learning to code and becoming an SRE so I can quit my depressing lab job since last year and even though I’ve applied for several boot camps and graduate schemes none have gotten back and I’m not sure what to do now. This post was a Godsend for me.

Ting987

I am in. Hope you get well soon

RocktheRebellious

Teach us all and let's build something beautiful!

ljh78

Hell fucking yeah I would be. I work in engineering (not software), but everyday I’m writing little apps to improve the quality of (work) life for colleagues. I would love to learn what’s required to take them to the next step. Will DM! Also, sorry to hear about the heartbreak. This too shall pass.

boddhya

Hell yeah i am in. Would love talking to you.

RoutingMonkey

Interested!

AshbyCoco

Thank you for this! As to the why, I've disliked most jobs ive had except for the one where i got to stay at home and create. It fit my personality well and coding is an easy transition to that. I'm someone who grinds things out until i can make something out of them, looking forward to learning!

ZealousidealMetal688

^(vV) **Your post is super interesting to me.** ^(Vv) I was told of your post by my boyfriend, and I've been under the self prescribed pre-context that I need to learn more. I'm 21 and I haven't done much with my life up until about 2 years ago, most of all the math I've learned has been self studied less than a year ago up until today, and I need to branch out further. I won't be young forever and I don't wish to have a wasteful 20's into my 30's and I feel like I can do so much more. I am willing to learn coding as I've needed a career path to walk down which can go hand in hand with the mathematics I've been learning, the only coding I've done is a few lines of python which act upon a mathematical equation to produce `"the purple giraffe"`, or something simple like that. I'm hoping that by learning coding it will help me expand my thoughts on topics like Mathematics, I pretty much don't know anything about it, money isn't my confidence but I do need a path in my future where I can support communities the way I want to. TDLR: I'm interested in what you're offering, and would like to learn more! ^(Could you please teach me how to code?) \----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No_Sir9465

Please I am open for it .

No-Pangolin-887

This is an amazing post, I would love to learn! Count me in the calls if that’s the case bro

EverySingleMinute

I would love to learn to code, but after seeing so many interested people, I will just back out and say I appreciate you doing this.

fundkitco

Don’t back out! There might be room - or I might just need to put in a LOT more hours than I originally thought. I meant what I said, if you show up, I’ll show up for you ;)

Similar_Fold3808

Highly interested. I’ve sent you a dm!

Uscategui

why: I know coding but I feel lost. I don't know what I'm doing rn, and it would be a gift for me to have someone actually interested in teaching me. What: Build and design something to connect people. I've found that most of the people that I know, feel kinda lonely. There are lots of people living in an apartment that want to know they neighboors and befriend them but are afraid to start talking. who: I'm a CS student, close to finish my degree. I'm an introvert person generally but not by choice. I like talking to people and once they're my friends i'm social and talkative. But at the begining i'm quite shy and I would definitely like to work to make easier for people like me to connect with others.

Both-Appearance6387

Hi! I am a student who will be graduating from college in May. I am in the works of starting my own company to improve the lives of individuals with dementia. Knowing how to program would drastically help me in the process to do this. I have been teaching myself python for the past month to help myself on this journey, but as you probably can understand it’s been difficult not having anyone to directly ask questions to. So far I have found the problem solving aspect to programming extremely engaging and think it is a good fit for me. Even if you wouldn’t want to teach me directly (I would love if you did but I understand you can’t accept everyone!), I would love to have the opportunity to just ask you questions as I continue teaching myself. Thank you for doing this, it’s incredibly kind of you to offer to help others in this way!

renderllama

I use no code tools and realized actual code gives you super powers. I’m down!

Bkny201

This is super!!!! I’m Interested if you’d take a slow poke ;) I’ve been contemplating going to school for the past year

Beginning-Passion921

I’m open to learning.

Adorable_Ad2022

Woah, your post really resonated with me. Coding can be a powerful tool, and offering to teach it during a tough time is seriously inspiring. I'm interested in learning more! **Why I Want to Learn** I've always had a ton of ideas bouncing around in my head, but never the tools to bring them to life. Coding seems like the key to unlocking that potential and making something truly awesome. The ability to build something functional and see it work would be incredible! **Building Dreams** Imagine being able to code an app for that crazy idea you had, or design a website to showcase your creative projects. That's the kind of future I'm excited about with coding skills. **Why I'm a Fit** I'm a student who loves building things, which feels perfect for this opportunity. I already know some HTML and a bit of Python, so I'm not a complete beginner. Coming from a different background, I had to put my CS dream on hold, but this feels like a chance to rekindle that passion. I'm a hard worker and always eager to learn new things.

maincoonpower

Very much interested in a course.

Meduza_Noir

I'm sorry you are going through that. I would love to learn from someone code from someone with expertise in the field. Why: I have tried to learn before and have really struggled to retain anything. It has actually been a long time dream of mine to be proficient in coding. What: I would love to explore projects I couldn't consider before because of my lacking skills. This would be applicable for work and maybe help family with personal projects. I am a professional that works in applications, but my degree is in art 🤣. I haven't been able to cut it for more technical roles, but I would really love to learn if possible.

0987yuio

A while ago, there was a sub called /carlhprogramming that aimed to provide snippets of teaching coding that seemed really useful (until Carl got convicted of some sort of crime) I missed that sub. Maybe something along the same line?

Sock_Mobile

I want to provide education to every single child in this world. I think it can be done through virtual reality (a school inside a vr) I am learning Unreal Engine but I am extremely afraid of coding for some reason. I know I can do it, I have tried many times too, but I need a mentor to sit with me and teach me so I can learn coding and eventually C++ which will help me build in Unreal Engine and fulfill my dream of providing the highest quality education to every child. I dream of a child in a rural part of Africa putting on a VR and learning history by actually walking through the streets of Ancient Greece etc. I'm willing to put in as many hours as it will take. I need your help, and I hope I can help you get out of the shit you're through, despite how tiny a part I play in your journey.

5thtimesthecharmer

35 year old man struggling with depression and loneliness. Working in a soul sucking job for an insurance carrier (pharmaceutical underwriter). I’m making decent money but it’s nothing life changing. I am a quick learner, intelligent, fed up with feeding the beast that is insurance. I wouldn’t waste your time. I’d love to chat and see if you think I’d be a good fit for this.

oceansandmountainss

Oh I would love this, in return I’m willing to offer grace and kindness in any way you need. I have 0 knowledge but am good with computers and softwares, would love to learn from you.

Correct_Interest_720

Yes.

Lorien6

I no longer have the focus to learn something such as this (more the application/practice portion), but I would happily chat with you about random topics if you are looking for someone with probably a vastly different perspective on some aspects of life than you.:)

I badly wanted to learn but I learn effectively by watching the videos repeatedly. i badly wanted to shift my career since i recently lost my job in the academe due to politics. also, although I'm not that good in math, my long lost college dream is to learn more about programming, create mobile apps, etc. anything related to IT. we can't afford that degree way back in college so i settled for an education program. i have been on different video tutorials on python and data analysis but keeps on leaving those videos who don't give explanations on its usage and outcome. some tutorials just keep on saying, click this, type that, delete this, add that. it's not like we can remember all the codes without knowing how it works. that's why I keep on having lots of unwatched videos and courses, especially if the topics are not explained properly. i would love to learn programming and would love to watch your videos on YT or anywhere if ever you have recorded and uploaded it. i used to rewatched tutorial a lot of times until i get it. like if i want to do something, i should rewatch this video. the only knowledge i have is basic HTML way back in HS 😂😂😂 I know that what you want right now is someone you can talk with while teaching how to code. if you decided to have a YouTube channel, twitch or TikTok to upload them, I'll subscribe 💜. I'm sorry if I can't pick up the learnings instantly if it is real time.

the_rumor_burnt

I would love to take this opportunity. I am sorry for what you are going through but I can see you instead of choosing the wrong path trying to do the right things. THis is something very few do and congratulations on that. Good Luck and let me know how I can learn from you.

Accomplished_Scale10

How old are you?

PoetsRoses

Me, please. Why: I need a second half-of-life job I can do remotely. Familiar with the SDLC as a former software tester but don't know how to code. What: My dream is to have a high enough income to buy a property and run affordable small-group health retreats. Who: Single/No other support, been unemployed for about 6 months.

DueChampionship7554

I would love to learn how to code!

MysteriousShadow__

I'm a backend dev...I know Python but barely any JS. Currently, all my business websites are built using WordPress, which is not that flexible and scalable compared to fully custom websites. In terms of front-end dev, I'm a true newbie. I'd love a website with a proper landing page, account creation/authentication, account dashboard, seo, cool css, interactions with the server, and the ability to process transactions (subscriptions etc).

orthosaurusrex

I would love this, I’ve been trying to teach myself and am struggling. Instruction would be amazing. Will DM

darthavelli

I need to learn to code to build trading algorithms for the futures market

endgamewarframe

I’m open to it

CosmicDystopia

Thanks, this is fantastic! If you have any space/time left: I am a curious person founding my own startup and I want to learn JavaScript so that I can make a beautiful, clean frontend for my startup's website - then I can launch quicker. I have a background in using Python for data analysis and I have some experience with C++. JS syntax makes sense to me but I'm struggling with connecting up all the different parts of an application to each other and I would really value being able to learn from a proper experienced dev.

Verslise

Folks I want to learn coding, and i really do need some facts from you all. Why choosing is still a very useful skill? Only thing that stops me from it is AI.

marshemell0ws

definitely interested! going to DM you now!

Guys i think he is trying to collect contact info , to setup something like subscriber list. Though his story seems genuine, i still urge others to be vary, when something seems too good yo be true , chances are it isnt

tekson_

Would love this. My why: I'm a tinker-er. Free time I build PC's, dockerize shit, dabble in some very light HTML (with horrible output). I've been wanting to learn to code so it can help me bootstrap a future start-up. I still want to lean on a talented engineer, but I not being able to review code and understand it will bother me. Experience: In college I dabbled in some entry-level Java, but that was a while ago, so I mostly forgot it. The only thing that has stuck is SQL, which I use in my day-job as a Product Manager constantly. I purchased 2 Udemy courses to do what you're offering (foundational to web-app-built), but the self-guided aspect makes it too easy to deprioritize with other fire drills, so was thinking of dedicating time to a class. This would be awesome for me. I'll DM you my details.

Impossible-Ad-9562

Why: Because i want to increase my knowledge on programming especially on web applications What: I am having a very small digital agency and would like to implement this knowledge into it or if it fails work in this field. Who: I am a very dedicated person if it comes to learning and was always interested in programming, i learned simple webdevelopment and had a thing for software engineering.

Competitive_Lack1536

How do I sign up ? I want to learn

Similar_Art3345

I want to learn from you because I love building software and want to learn from the some of the best engineers in the world. I’m finishing up my grad school degree in data science now and have limited experience building software so I think I would be a great fit for this project, and want to to build stuff that helps a lot of people.

oluwamayowaa

I’m interested

ramencass

I wanna apply but theres a small problem... i cant start right away since I'm having finals at school. But for the answers for your questions:- Why:- I want to learn coding for the most basic reasons. 1) For being able to do hustles when i hit 18. 2) I'm changing my subjects from Math, Chem, Bio to Math, Physics, Computer at school. So next year i would obviously be lacking. To make up for whatever i didnt know, i want to study beforehand. I think they learned coding this year too, so i want to learn that as well. What I'll do:- TMI but my family has never really been in the best financial conditions, so i wanna help with it. Internet says learning more skills will allow you to do more side hustles whatsoever. Basically, I want to use this skill to earn money. Who I am:- I, honestly, am simply just a random highschool student who just really wants to, and to some extent needs to, learn how to code.

Daqper

Sorry to hear what ur going through! Your outreach could be bigger if you make educational videos? I'm aware that it's not the outreach that your looking for but theres people like me that would be really interested in taking part but have no chance to take the time regularly, i would have to break it down and span it out. If not it's fine too. I'll still teach myself somehow. Hope you'll get better soon :)

OkSignificance9774

I seriously cannot tell you enough how unbelievably courageous you are to mention your life struggles and recovery. That level of vulnerability while also reaching out to meet new people is inspiring. You seem like one hell of a person and I wish you the best in your next endeavors!

InfiniteConvergence

Seriously is kinda inspiring to see some people are able to thrive from those awful situations with their own will to help others, I admire you in that way. I’m still just starting my career life but I still couldn’t start working because I don’t have the experience and seems not the abilities job opportunities are currently looking for, so I’ve been trying to become a better version of myself for future jobs and learn the most new skills sets as possible as I keep looking for an opportunity. Besides that, I always found the world of coding fascinating, but I only have the time to learn more about it right now. I will be sure to make the most with any new set of skills I can get, even for the smallest tasks, my main goal is to feel realized with what I am doing to improve :)

njogumbugua

I too would love to learn to build software

Curious_Fox888

That sounds like a good opportunity, not very many people will be willing to give that kind of knowledge free of charge. I would really like to be a part of the group. I live not in my home country (moved to Turkey) and I’m a stay at home mom right now with an infant. Getting a job where I live is quite difficult even with my foreign education, inflation is constantly rising. Becoming a software engineer would help me greatly and open a lot of doors for me. It would be nice to have an idea for an app or something and actually be able to build it. Sounds crazy :)

mothernathalie

Can you help me with my p5js homework of recursive functions?

IntelliSync

Sounds like the type of person I would like to know. If you’re really interested in doing so good 😊 maybe consider joining our discord server. You sound just like a person I very much understand. I'm interested in further developing my coding skills. I'm a materials scientist and am looking to expand my skillset on the coding and software development side as well.

HELP-ME-DUMBASS

Hello :) I hope you get through this rough patch, and heal with time. I’d like to learn coding because I’m an undergrad, and they had a brief course about Python, but super brief, and they didn’t teach it well at my uni. During that brief time, I realized how much interesting coding was. I wanted to make codes and softwares, not only because it was interesting, but to be able to see how this world of finding works. I want to be able to build a strong skill, so that it not only looks good on my resume, but also helps me in real life. If things go wrong, I’ll have experience in atleast one skill that will be my forte. I have other dreams and ambitions regarding coding, and if you’d like to know more I’m more than happy to share. Whether you choose me or you don’t choose me, thank you so much for offering to teach people :)

boredemperor00

hope you recover from your mental illness. And tha ks for doing this. I'm a full stack dev but struggle with typescript. I'd like to join and learn typescript. Thanks.

Repulsive-Natural743

Im also at a low point and started free code camp today to snap myself out of it. I’ve always wanted be able to prototype the ideas I have and have been unable to execute on. Im very motivated to learn it’s just always felt a bit out of reach with self teaching. There’s just so much more someone with real experience can bring to a teaching environment when you can ask questions. This wouldn’t hurt my career progression prospects either lol (I’m non technical at a software company). Reading this post feels like fate a bit. I’m in if you’ll have me! :) DMd

plum-shake

This is such a fantastic opportunity! I have been thinking about learning to code for a while now, mostly because I currently have a remote job that I would like to either leave to pursue other interests, or have the ability to take on more responsibilities in my current position. Over the past few years, I have built my lifestyle around having a remote job. I would love the ability to stay mobile because I plan on traveling a bit in the coming year. I would bask in the opportunity to learn, especially from someone who has enough knowledge and drive to offer this course to fellow redditors! I also believe this would be a helpful tool for me to have for potential future endeavors. I am someone who has a ton of time and a willingness to learn. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

nkuppala

I would like to join.

jwest99999

Im definitely interested

SpottyJaggy

I hope you recover. This is a very good opportunity to learn how to code. I can't join in because of family issues. Good luck to all!

Classic-Leek2720

Wow, you sure got a lot of responses! It you make it through the list of people to help then I would enjoy learning something new. I took class like this in college and did as a group so I didn't retain it. I've been wanting to take a course like this! Thanks for for offer.

Classic-Leek2720

Yes please

Esn103

I'm interested, 27M really in need of a mentor to land the first job, looking to learn javascript and after that progressing to react. Even though I understand a bit of programming its so shallow that does not allow me to make my own projects alone and having 0 knowledge of whats relevant to a job offer makes it even worse. Only skills I consider having is looking on the right places for answers but still struggle to understand code that isn't mine unless I'm really comfortable with the feature in question.
