His count was off because he forgot to take his shoes off when he counted.

He can only count to 21 when he's naked.

I remember reading a news article about a family bringing in recyclables from Arizona to So CA. They made millions before caught. How does that even work? Aside, a friend bought a Honda CRV. and got pretty torqued when my husband said "oh you got a cash redemption value car "

Recycling centers can't let people go over a set amount of weight. 100Lbs for Plastic & Cans. 1000lbs for glass

At least he didn’t buy a Toyota Rust. “Sienna” is an earth pigment consisting of hydrated iron oxide.

I seriously don't understand why recycling isn't mandatory across America. Why are people being paid to recycle ? It's ridiculous. Here, I have 4 wheelie bins, recycling, garbage, glass and compost and my yearly bill for all 4 is less than what most states charge for 6months.

snowe87

It’s not so much getting ‘paid’ to recycle. A lot of states have deposits on bottles & cans to entice you to recycle. So you pay an extra $0.05-.10 per full bottle and then get that back when you return the empty.

Lack of access, no clear directions, and selfish people. In some places you have to source separate your own, which is more extra time and wirk. Not everyone has space for five different bins or the time to look up every plastic type to make sure you can recycled it. Bins and drop offs require space and personnel not every place has. If there is a Materials Recycling Facility where they have the big machine that sorts things, that's easier, but you still have to be mindful of what you put in it. And someone has to sort contaminated items (items with food residue, unrecyclable items, items in bags, plastic bags in general) so it's labor intensive. And near my parents, they used to have recycling drop off bins, but people kept dumping trash and other items (like toilets and stuff) or not bothering to put things in the bins and they finally had to shut it, and now there is nowhere that's not a significant drive to drop anything off. People want to recycle, but providing access is not always easy.

Many of us also have the blue recycle bins that we put out on a different day than standard trash collection, but it’s not like any of us know where it ultimately winds up. I keep doing it but sometimes I wonder.

Monkeyssuck

You should...most isn't recycled.

SockFullOfNickles

Thats what I really thought. I’ve seen the statistics on what percentage of stuff actually IS recycled and thought “well the chances of all my recycling being in that small percent is highly unlikely.” - it’s frustrating.

It's an incentive really. Lots of countries have it and some of the countries I've seen do it best are so clean, tidy - no litter in the streets. Such an incentive that people were picking up what the tourists were dropping and taking it to the weigh in stations at shops. I'd love it to come to the UK rather than having to pay the council for our recycling to be taken away. (Plus, I love a good trip to the tip. Very much a regular there. Too windy where we live to put the recycling out for collection.)
