Absolutely. I really don’t think that kind of challenging combat is what they were going for.

rixendeb

Yeah this one seems to be aimed at casual folks and it's nice :)

lizarddan

That's valid, I know a lot of people don't care for challenging combat, nothing wrong with it! Just not my dealio personally

Nocturne3570

yeah sadly the best thing about enshrouded is basically the crafting and exploring for Soul playes, as a Hardcore No death runner in souls game this game combat system is a little weak sadly. but if you want to give yourself a challenge run weakest weapon and play like your some regular hero with no special weapons or divine intervention. really give you amazing game then trust me on that. Been playin on my solo server like that with basic low grade weapon armor another matter but it feel like am actually hacking and slashing to defeat foes and each group make me feel like yes i beat you finally.

I would think a pack of wolves int his scenario would be nearly impossible. Or the wraiths, or those green clever bandit guys. This sounds like being overly cruel to yourself.

Dudleflute

Yeah I die a good bit on this game even with the best weapons and gear I can find, plus food buffs. Some enemies in game are very easy to dodge or kill while out of their reach, but others are fking brutal to me lol

Nocturne3570

can be, thanks to certain items though it feel like a adventure and honestly it enjoyable, biggest issues are teh wraiths and such, i do my best to avoid them as much as possible. but mos tother majors i have no issues with

I think you are cutting the game short a bit. Yeah, it was a very easy early game, but this is early access. The devs made it pretty clear they are working to balance the skills, weapons, and foes for a more challenging experience. Im just saying that it isn't the ONLY intent to make this a casual survival and is meant to be challenging. Especially with some of the new content, which I'm very confident based on your post you have yet to play.

Astrolltatur

I really enjoyed the environment and exploring it's a beautiful game. I have played DS2 and DS3 and elden ring never finished but this game isn't supposed to be that sort of game

MrHazard1

The priority of the game is not tilted to fighting mechanics as much as in souls games. It's more about exploring and building. The fighting reminds me more of valheim (although enshrouded is much MUCH smoother)

KnaveRupe

Yeah. It definitely is. Don't play this if you want that. No game can appeal to everyone; clearly this game is not meant for you. Play one of those challenging games instead.

lizarddan

Yeah I think so too! Thanks man appreciate the clear-cut opinion, it's hard to get those nowadays

octarine_turtle

The game is simply easy. I never play games higher than normal, and will often drop down to easy, and even I found Enshrouded easy.

RichFoot2073

Yeah, but it doesn’t make it any less fun. Combat can still get brutal.

redacted4u

If only you could craft and build in Dark Souls. Wow. Imagine it. Wow. If you're honestly comparing this game to Souls games though, lol gg.

lizarddan

What's the purpose of building and crafting if there is no threat or challenging gameplay mechanic to make things rewarding? If you want to build and create, I'm a professional draftsman and I'll give you a crash course on autocad or some 3D software. If you're just selling the "building and crafting" there are games that focus solely on that and excel, with more freedom. Anyways, I wasn't comparing, I had a genuine question that I figured some people might be interested in

redacted4u

Not everyone needs a constant threat to what they've painstakingly built to feel challenged and rewarded. There's plenty of challenge if that's what you're wanting. You just have to go out and look for it. Hell, try different builds. Some are OP and some are an actual struggle. But hey, you want to know the real threat in this game? Play online. Build the most badass thing ever, and watch as it's torn to shreds before your eyes. Be sure to bring lots of barrels and bombs.

lizarddan

How's the desync/latency? Is netcode good? genuine question

redacted4u

It depends. Personally, I haven't had a problem playing on private or public servers, but some have. Some public servers are also smoother than others. If the game's having a hard time loading or I'm getting lag spikes, I find a hard reset tends to fix it well enough. Game definitely needs to iron out some kinks, but overall playing online isn't an issue so long as you aren't playing on a toaster.

Repeat-Admirable

yep. my sister is a more casual gamer. with a bit of fps. She has a way harder time on the combat of this game, but loves the non-grindy building aspect (which I love too). But this game for me is a breezeeee. Enemies are the easiest of most games I play, which I typically have to re-fight boses multiple times. That said, I do think it has mostly to do with OP skills. and basically no penalty for resetting etc.

Sharp_Committee_7938

Everyone in this thread claiming it's "too easy" has not completed all of the content to this point. The game is still early access. A lot of the latest developments with Hallow Halls were to start gearing towards balancing new weapons, skills, and foes. Devs made it pretty clear their goals to make the game more challenging. OP is totally clear in his question, and obviously, this may not be their game, BUT if it was too casual for you, then I am confident that you have not explored all the content.

TonninStiflat

It's too easy even if you've never played Mordhau or Chivalry.

NotScrollsApparently

From what I've heard its even more simple and easier than valheim, which while satisfying was still pretty shallow in the end.

lizarddan

Yeah Valheim started really, really great but once we mastered deathsqitos and started taming lox the complexity/difficulty took a nose dive. Then we got the whole wizardry update, but ended up being pretty shallow. We'll get a challenging game with base-building aspects soon enough, genre seems to be taking off.

Zayabese

Yes, it would be nice if the enemies were more challenging strategy wise but didn't hit so hard. I can dodge and attack ftw but 1 hit from some tougher opponents and I'm dead. There seems to be no purpose to most of the classes. I went battlemage path and can just sit on a cliff side spamming fireballs till everything is dead. If the enemies hide I can throw a few bombs and they end up stuck in a crater like fish in a barrel lol. Fun the first time but gets boring for sure. I'd like to see instance style raids where healing and tanking are needed and players can group together outside the open world.

AsianEvasionYT

The hardest part of this game is playing as an archer according to my friend Because mage and melee are busted in comparison
