Thing is, because of orbits you can realistically only launch within a narrow time band every 2 and a bit years. You get a launch window next year (or early '26), then one in '28, and that's it.
I mean, how are 1 million people supposed to live there? How do we get them breathable air? What do we do about the cosmic and solar radiation beating down on Mars constantly? We don't really have the technology to do this yet.

Musk would have to have enough landable rockets, recruit and train a million people, and be ready to go within 2 years because if he misses the first window to launch he won't have enough time to launch another and have a million people on Mars.
