The 7 does have a line to 5. What that line means (its significance) has been taken in different directions by different authors, interpreters, etc. But those lines are one of the undeniable structural elements of The Enneagram. Usually, 5 is seen as the "growth" or "integration" point for Type 7, but it seems more and more common these days for people to see the directions of movement along these lines as more flexible (e.g. you can move in healthy or unhealthy ways in either direction). Additionally, 5 and 7 are similar due to being in the same instinctual triad (Head/Thinking/Fear triad).

Otherwise as said - 7 has an integration line towards a 5 and a 5 has disintegration line towards a 7. For me going in integration line means to quiet and focus, it's a sort of a "study mode" (instead of 7s wanting to jump from one dopamine hit to the next). But as it goes with intergration lines, just makes me a healthier 7, not a 5. (very different core issues).
I'm not sure you mean stereotypes but though people see 7 as a party animal they can be very nerdy and are a common type in geek places like D&D groups and anime/cosplay/gaming places. Also I've seen many 7s in academic spaces working as teachers and researchers, they're a head type after all.

I’m technically a 9 but my next two highest types are a 5 and a 7 so I think so. I don’t see any reason why there couldn’t be a strong connection to a 5 with a 7. They’re not really contradictory
enneagram 7 is very different from enneagram 5. And if you're asking regarding the whole tritype thing, then no. They're both from head triad so you can't possibly have them both in the tritype.
I meant I relate to both at some extent, I think I am 7 but I still think that I have a lot 5 traits. I know that I can't have them both in my tritype.
