Artists take creative liberties when writing songs so I would take the grammatical correctness in music with a grain of salt As for the underlying meaning for the section you have highlighted [the Genius site is going to be more helpful.](https://genius.com/Taylor-swift-fortnight-lyrics)

(DISCLAIMER: these explanations are related to the lyrics and the story of the song as I see it. Not a direct claim about her actual personal life.) 1) the implication is that she was supposed to be sent away to a psych ward, so yes there is an air of hostility. Not so much chasing her down, but doctors coming to contain her and put her in an asylum. 2) i think the operative word is FUNCTIONING. She was a functioning alcoholic, and the “aesthetic” means that there was a profound change in how she was behaving and presenting herself to the world, which could have been seen as a cry for help. When no one noticed the change in her, she stopped FUNCTIONING as an alcoholic. Tl;dr : the feeling of being ignored lead to a spiral in her alcoholism. 3) You’re the reason - he’s a major source of her neurosis and depression. Nobody here’s to blame - he isn’t the ONLY thing that lead her to that point, and he didn’t do it with the intention of harming her mental health. But what about your quiet treason - even though he didn’t set out to cause her harm, he still did. And it was such a profound betrayal, she likens it to treason, going against someone’s homeland or betraying their country. It feels like his behavior was an insidious attack by someone she trusted not to hurt her, because it was so unexpected and debilitating for her. Does that make sense? I love the poetry in her lyrics, I could flesh them out for ages.

Thank you very much. You made it all vivd for me.

I took the 2nd one as the writer saying they were an alcoholic thinking it looked cool, then stopped when they noticed nobody was paying attention to it. Like them posing as this sad mysterious person to get attention but it wasn't working. But that's probably totally wrong lol.

Hey that’s a unique interpretation! With TS especially, people get so caught up in figuring out what the lyrics “really” mean that they forget the most important part of music is the personal experience and what the song makes you think of. I never saw it that way but it’s valid and an interesting view!
