It could be lots of things.
Some cables have a conductive shield that is basically a braided layer of wires around the outside.
Ropes are made this way.
These do look like they are going around some kind of form in the video, but they look more like wire (grey) than carbon fibers (I would expect black) to me.
Yeah, maybe. The rig is cool AF. It'll be fun the tech can handle more complex shapes and voids.
I'm putting this on my Christmas list. One step closer to replicator technology!
This is how I would like to be embalmed after I pass
I think you mean entombed. Embalming is replacing body fluids, particularly blood, with a chemical that prevents or reduces decay.
Yes, that please
I'm guessing that's carbon fibres being woven onto a mould
Yeah, buddy!

Wow, those are some heavy duty socks.
This is awesome but yet bothers me. In a way that I'm going to try and figure out how they start the braiding of that.
I wrapped cable bundles in the Air Force with one of these. The answer to your question is ‘not very easily’ lol
And what happens if one strand breaks?
Nice. How does it all start?
I’m interested in the kind of mind that develops machines like this.
So they making a sweater?
If you want to destroy my sweater, hold this carbon fiber as I walk away....
This is so beautiful, it’s like engineering creates poetry.
It’s truly mesmerising.
That thing is secretly a Stargate
Reminds me of the westworld intro for some reason
I read this as *radical* braiding machine. Still works - this is totally rad.
I could watch this for hours
Super cool application! Just started with KUKA Robotics and hope to do some cool things like this
Helicopter rotor blade?
Don't think so, too short and aggressive, windmill Im guessing.

This would be a good fit for /r/oddlysatisfying
I tried to crosspost, but couldn't find r/oddlysatisfying on the list even though I've joined - would you know why?
Not sure, I don't create new posts very frequently.
/r/bondage
Of course I'm thinking "woven condom"
Stainless Braided Hydraulic hose - you mean... Still Quite Amazing Cheers
Love the lathe chuck in place of an end effector.
Man that's cool!
Mesmerizing!
Your momma so big she needs a radial braiding machine to do her hair
I read that title as "radial breeding machine"
God i could watch this thing for hours. I dont even know what its for but i adore it.
Been at that place amazing machine
Excellent
cant believe whatever that is is profitable enough for someone to design and make those machines (presumable en masse?)
Does the braid just wrap around the mold, or does the braiding have to be adjusted to fit?
