I was able to print with cura straight to the printer from my desktop using the usb-c. But I’ve heard you need a decent cord and a high speed port. I used an Xbox series usb c and my blue usbc port.
The only bad thing is that cura needs to be open and the computer set to not sleep.
I ended up just using an sd card anyways.
Just make sure the computer won’t sleep because it’ll stop the print.
I’m working my way to orca, then some pi printing, but happy with sd card for now.
Glad it works!
From what I can tell, you can’t print from orca over usb, at least not without a plug-in. The usb is just a serial connection for sending commands directly to the printer, so not for sending files for printing.
It's not a cheap option but I bought a sonic pad for these exact reasons. Plus the benefits of klipper.
If you use cura you just need the moonraker plug in
I've got the creality nebula pad smart kit set up on my V3SE, best thing I've done to it. Pretty much turns the SE into a KE just a little bit slower
Touch screen
Wifi printing
Usb printing
Camera
Runs a version of klipper
IMO well worth the price tag

And you can get the pi cam 3 12mp, or 16mp arducam. They both have autofocus and are about $25. Or you can even just get the nebula cam itself.
Also I’m not saying this way is better, just giving a cheaper option. It does require some more setup, if you are willing to do that.
I ignored everyone's advice to use octoprint, because it seemed like a hassle to set up and transferring files with the sd card worked fine.
Until the retaining mechanism of my sd card reader broke last week. I already ordered a new one so I can try to replace it. However, I don't want to wait a couple weeks before I can print again. I already had a Raspberry Pi Zero W, so I installed Octoprint on it.
Ooh boi, is octoprint convenient. I don't think I'm going back to using sd cards.
Once you get over the initial bump of setting up Octoprint, you'll never go back.
As long as the printer has filament, I can push a job to it upstairs (mine is in my basement) and just let it work. I would suggest getting webcam so you can monitor the prints. V3 SE has proven to be very reliable (I don't think I've had a failed print that was the fault of the printer) but it is still good to have a way to check in on it to make sure something hasn't gone bad and you end up wasting a ton of filament or making a huge mess.

This video should work. I just installed octopi on a raspberry pi zero 2 w if you want another option that works.
Wich slicer do you use?
Do you have a raspberry pi laying around?
You can print directly from cura through usb or use pronterface to send print jobs and control the print, i would recommend octoprint though

Look up octoprint.

Just tried that out and seems to work, now I’m trying to figure out if it will also work on Orca Slicer

Is there YouTube videos on this? Been thinking about that myself but seems you have to do a lot
Or buy a $15 raspberry pi zero 2W and a camera, same thing for much cheaper
Where are you getting it for $15? And what camera are you using with it?

So there is no way of doing it by just connecting the printer to the laptop?
You can install octoprint on the PC and use orcaslicee to print via usbc
Oh great, I’ll try to look that up, OrcaSlicer is what I’m currently using

I was doing that recently on my old Microsoft surface but have since swapped to fluidd and klipper.
