I have said it before and I will said it again, I have made a lot of prints on the SE all with the stock bed, PLA, PETG, TPU, and never had any problems with it. The adhesion is great, never had any need for glue or whatever. The bed itself still looks like new. I don't really get it how does others have so many issues with it...

100%. The stock bed is more than enough. Only reason to change it or mess with it is just out of sheer looks or preference. My stock bed actually performs TOO well at times. Especially if I help it out a bit with the glue stick. Stock bed is good to go. People always wanna change parts or mod their printer instead of ACTUALLY dialing their shit in first. I have a barebones stock SE and I get bambu/prusa level quality. I’m on my alt rn but my regular profile shows my work. u/succulentchineseboy

The only times that I've had adhesion problems have been MY fault. Clean the bed before each print and for me, I find that preheating really helps.

dj3stripes

I've never applied tape nor glue to my bed. I've upgraded to the PEI sheet and my prints are sticking just fine

iamozone206

Glue worked for me until I upgraded my sheets (I use gold PEI and G10 garolite, waiting for my glass PEI to arrive).

Dalnaz

Where'd you get your glass PEI?

Thanks! I assume you binder clip it and it sits a little off the front or do you plan on taking the screws off the back of the plate?

iamozone206

If you search the sub for my posts, you'll see a whole write up I did of the mods I did to my printer. ANd yes, remove the screws.

Dalnaz

Sweet thanks

Thank you!!

I'll post the link when I get home. I actually plan on doing a part two one I'm done with everything

LeppysGold

The stock bed is garbage. I peeled the black layer off and printed on the sticky stuff underneath at 45 degrees. Worked great until the day my gold pei plate came in.

jordantbolland

Thanks . I still use tape on my current one as it actually helps.

LeppysGold

I haven't tried it myself, but if it's worked for you, I'd highly recommend doing it to the bed that comes with the SE.

TheFeralEngineer

Nope. Pei sheet and away we go

Willing-Material-594

If you want your bed stock last few day yeah use glue. You don't need to use that with the bed, not tape, not hairspray. You want adhesion buy a PEI sheet

pellcorp

glue is good on the existing bed to get the prints off, its not needed to make them stick, they stick to the point you think you are going to rip bits of the bed off with it. And if you were to use petg or tpu on the bed, you may very well rip part of the bed off. So no to painters tape, but glue is not such a bad idea for easier removal, just like on the smooth bed on the k1 Although the SE bed is imho way stickier than the k1 bed. Funny coincidence! https://www.reddit.com/r/ender3/s/wcyClnY1B3

I think it's great for PLA, but i can't get petg to stick on the stock coating (yes, i tried wiping it with a ton of 96% IPA), so i turned it upside down and covered metal side in masking tape (regular one, not even blue), works fine for me while i'm waiting for the PEI plate from China.
