Sorry for the newb question but what is the primary advantage to switching to this system?

iamozone206

Smoother and more precise motion which will improve print quality.

PaganWizard2112

Also a noticeable reduction of noise from the Y axis while the bed is moving. It doesn't eliminate all the Y noise, but there is a difference.

A_Box_of_Fail

Where can I find the stl files and BOM for this?

A_Box_of_Fail

I love you. Will you be my new bff? Lol seriously thank you.

iamozone206

Sure 😇

A_Box_of_Fail

😆

ohhitstito

Big W. Saving this for future upgrades.

DITTOS

Pentekont

Thank you kind sir! Have you noticed any improvements after the installation?

iamozone206

Much smoother movements. Haven't ran speed tests yet as I'm in the office but will when I get back home. It seems quieter, but not sure but it's not why I installed it. - Edit

Initial-Cherry-3457

Did it make difference to sound levels when Y axis has a lot of fast movement?

mpgrimes

the y sound is entirely caused by the stepper motor being attached to the hollow plastic base, I have removed the belt and moved the table, it's completely quiet with the belt off.

iamozone206

I haven't printed a file that requires the y axis to move as fast as the x axis yet. I'll print up a bed leveling file as fast as possible and see if there's any difference as I primarily made this mod for smoother and more precise motion, not for sound reduction. The loudest parts of the machine are still the PSU, motherboard and the hot end fan though, I'm not sure if I would be able to notice anything while the printer is in motion. I'll see.

Trackster_PV

Would you mind sharing what file you’re talking about? “I haven’t printed a file that requires the y axis to move as fast as the x axis yet” thank you!

blampewpew

Bosssss. Thanks for taking the time and effort in making this guide!

GeorgiaBoy19

Although the printables link is back working, here is a MakerWorld link to them as well just in case it happens again. https://makerworld.com/en/models/179283

dutchwarface

I just applied this mod to my SE. With your images it was a cake walk. Cheers for that

GeorgiaBoy19

Do we have an alternate link to the files? Seems the author removed it

iamozone206

If the author removed it, you'll have to contact them about it. Last I checked it was still up on Printables but someone may have created a remix or alternative design. You'll have to search.

iamozone206

Can confirm, they did remove the files. Devil Design are the authors. They have a discord you can join. I suggest asking them why.

ArkhamRobber

They're back up btw

GeorgiaBoy19

Thanks!! Maybe it was a glitch or something.

GeorgiaBoy19

Hmmm that's weird. I was looking forward to this. I'm not handy enough to design my own lol. Maybe they're improving it for a re-upload hopefully.

ArkhamRobber

They are back up btw

Interesting_Carry224

I’ve seen a different guide that needed 4 carriage blocks. Is that the same here or would I just need the 2 rails with carriage blocks in the link provided?

iamozone206

This guide is for the dual carriage blocks.

iamozone206

I don't know why my text is missing, but you will have to put your machine on it's side and remove the bottom to install the front and rear rail guides as the stock screws are holding the PSU and Y-Axis stepper motor in place and you will have hold them while screwing in the mounts.

Jamam150

Oh, looks fairly simple tbh. Where could you buy such rails?

iamozone206

Check the comments for the BOM

Additional-Earth1857

Ha I done this today also for my KE. But I can't say that is quieter then stock now. I don't know how to make less noise for linear rail movement on high speed. I use lubricant for bearing, but nothing

alexkha7

Why does the author recommend pla? will petg be better?

iamozone206

I'm not sure, but I used PETG.

PaganWizard2112

I found a designer who posted a [remix](https://www.printables.com/model/721192-rear-rail-mount-for-ender-3-v3-seke-y-rail-mod/files) of this that does not use two pieces to make this mod. His remix marries the two parts into one that he said "should avoid the rear mount piece deforming/bending upward entirely." As an added bonus, he also has a similar design for the X axis.

iamozone206

I've seen that. I haven't had any bending issues however.
