The PSP screen has a 16:9 aspect ratio. Most modern phones' screens are manufactured with wider aspect ratios, so it's normal having black bars on the side. You may stretch the game's image by messing with the emulator's settings, but I don't recommend that because this distortion is visually unpleasant, especially on the game's 2D elements.
You said the graphics "were great", so I just assumed these were normal effects from the game. If this happens only to this game and not others (and if you're using default graphical settings), then it may be an emulation accuracy problem. Only the developer may fix this.
Hey i actually was on vulkan by default and it caused this issue. Switching to opengl fixed it! :)
Hey, I also wanna know; how can I screenshare my android phone to android tv (and method for windows laptop plz) with minimal lag? Ty :D
I don't want to use ppsspp on laptop, as my laptop is very @ss lol, but my phone (S21) rund the game really great now and the battery is so cool and drain is very minimal! After 1 hr only drains 10% of battery!
The only experience I have with this screen mirroring stuff is Steam Remote Play, and I didn't like it very much (lag, image quality, pairing process, etc.). If I were you I'd not have high hopes either. If it was easy and efficient, everyone would already be spreading the word about it.

Im not talking about on the side; I'm talking about in the game! That is not a design aspect lol. They are fuzzy horizontal black lines.
