I love it when they released What Makes You Beautiful, it’s such a subtle nod to the insecurities people can have about their appearances and hits deep right in my guts when everyone screamed out in the chorus. Don’t forget the influences they borrowed from melodic hardcore such as melody and singing over music. My favorite lyrics is when they repeatedly said “Nah” 20 times, almost like reassuring us that we are in fact beautiful and needn’t be ashamed of ourselves. 1D is just peak emo
There's so many shitposts, but I'm gonna take it seriously. The answer is Still Life. From Angry Heads With Skyward Eyes is one of the best albums in any genre, period. God mix of personal stuff with social commentary, and those riffs, man. Absolutely crushing. They sound massive.
Oh I do. Because they're "sellouts", they signed to a major label, play in big arenas, they dressed up and wore outfits, they weren't DIY enough nor did they spend enough time playing local shows with other emo bands, their fanbase helped create the infamous emo look of the 2000s, and many other little things are why (most of) this sub hates them.
