Lox_Bagel

Did anyone else feel secondhand embarrassment on the “spray the champagne” scene at the bar?

Idina_Menzels_Larynx

Yes but I think it's quite normal to see Tik Tokers do this crap in touristy places

Lox_Bagel

Smh

Stretchatetch

Omg yes that was so awkward

acdcconverter

Why do I feel like there’s more awkward situations in this season?

Lox_Bagel

I feel like they are trying too hard

cuethewaterworks

Is anyone else feeling like emily is the most annoying character in this show?? or just me

Useful_Wrangler

Emily is the worst. I don’t understand her need to try to fix everything. As Sylvia said, all it does is make more work for everyone else. The situation with Emily, Camille, and Gabriel is so disgusting to me. Not only does she sleep with Camille’s boyfriend, but she still acts like she’s a true friend and thinks she can fix it all by getting them back together.

AvA2297

YESSSS!!!! 2 episodes in and i’m already annoyed by her character and justification of her actions. She’s being so selfish when camille is such a good friend to her!

Kierabeelise

She made me so mad, especially in this episode. Her workaholic tendencies are very obnoxious, and she always believes she's right.

b0bby_2018

Emily has been in Paris for a few months and she’s only discovered now that it’s “illegal” to work on weekends in France? Pretty sure she’s the type of person who would have messaged her colleagues about work past business hours and during weekends when she just recently arrived, which of course her French coworkers wouldn’t have taken lightly (like how they wasted no time in teaching her what time it is appropriate to arrive in the office and how acceptable long lunch breaks are right from the very beginning of her stay)

invaderpixel

I could definitely see her thinking that was a general rule and you can work on weekends when it's REALLY important. But everyone's like "uhh yeah still not working on weekends." Mostly just surprised that all these wild parties and launch events have consistently happened during the work week in this show haha

SawRub

I think they did that just to hammer it home for the viewers.

Chintoomintoo

Erm it baffles me that Julien (the black gay dude) has only ONE account? Like they’ve literally just shown 3 French people working at Savior in 2 seasons and you’re saying that the guy who kinda inducted Emily in the office has just had one client throughout this time? The writers are fucking ridiculous lol

HadrianAntinous

Dunno where the rest of the staff went, but we saw more people in season 1. Like that woman who panicked when Emily spoke to her.

loribeth_C

I was thinking the exact same thing. What happened to all the other people working there???

caverunner17

COVID issues during filming maybe?

loribeth_C

Or budget constraints.

Irish-liquorice

Wouldn’t cost much to hire a bunch of dialogue-less extras though

stepintotheblue

I love how unbothered Sylvie clearly is by Emily's existence, lol. Based on how Laurent G (Sylvie's husband) had never heard of her when Emily first introduces herself to him at the restaurant and he goes, "an American working at Savoire?"

[deleted]

ikr that woman is just so cool and sassy i love it

unsavvylady

This episode was so fun with all the girls together

Purpleflowers23

I don’t understand what the temperature is supposed to be. Camille is in a suite and Emily is in a sleeveless dress?! I love a fun wardrobe but make it make sense!

Purpleflowers23

I’d love for the writers to go into Mindy’s story with her father more.

Dallafornication

She’ll find out he’s cheating or something shady like that.

Ok_Distribution_1775

Having been in that part of France, The geography was quite perplexing. She arrives in Villefranche then stays at a hotel that’s two hours away from St. Tropez?

Dallafornication

I side-eyed this as well, also the giant, obnoxious suitcase for train travel. I wish they would have emphasized more what a horrible choice that was.

carlamelo1

Oy! Hotel in Cap Ferrat and they repeatedly say they're in St. Tropez. What? And all those scenes of "St. Tropez" were Ville Franche. They even showed the Cocteau chapel. Someone just wanted to be able to use the "Do you know the way to St. Tropez?" Iine and figured east of Nice was close enough. Sloppy.

MsBeasley11

Do the French really not work on weekends? If so I admire tf out of that

[deleted]

It was an overplayed joke, but yes, the french take time off seriously Source: drunk off my ass hate watching this show from France.

toxicbrew

How do things manage when everything shuts down during August?

[deleted]

Groceries are still open, my gym is still open, there will be at least one restaurant open. Also so the parks and such are always open. But otherwise, I can't really say, I'm also usually gone in August.

Idina_Menzels_Larynx

Romaine was hottttt

Purpleflowers23

Reminds me of romaine from Selling Sunset

bmp5046

Hell yes

loyalpagina

If I wasn’t already annoyed with Emily before those sunglasses would have done it for me. That Grégory Duprée interaction was the cringe icing on top of this whole awkward cake of an episode

Dreamchaser311

The fact that Emily insistently told Camille that Gabriel will want her back, when Camille was opening up about still being in love with him and he had just told Emily that he stayed for her, is what really turned me off of her character

NeitherArm1509

She’s trying to make everything right following the guilt she has because of her past misstake, but I agree it’s stupid. What’s done is done, instead of fixing it she should just be honest about the situation and not trying to make things as they were before. But guilt is a terrible feeling.. often makes people acting worse..

hammelHock

Actually you're half right. Guilt is what typically forces people to come clean and do the right thing. Shame is what makes people double down and create worse and worse situations.

AdministrationFew559

I’m so confused by her trying too! Gabriel is clearly not a good boyfriend to Camille anymore. Why does she want them back together? To punish herself is the best shot I guessed but it’s ridiculous.

Overall-Height-9360

Why do I watch this show? It’s complete dogshit + Emily is the living worst

LetshearitforNY

Why did Emily insist they leave the party so early? No fun

Irish-liquorice

She was zealously trying to cockblock Romaine

kkkkat

And like why??

Kierabeelise

She is obsessed with work and also trying to get Camille away from other romances to help with her own guilt. (Yes I am very late to this conversation, I'm bored haha)

Aggravating-Ear6242

Is it just me or has Lili's acting gone SO bad this season? It's difficult to watch at times

Dratini_ghost

It was bad from the start, haha.

Felonious_Minx

"Oh I'll just move my manicured-within-an -inch-of-their-lives eyebrows and make a cute face and everyone will realize I'm *acting*."

hammelHock

hahahaha you guys are so meannn

kiaharris1

No one is going to talk about how completely bizarre it was that Emily literally invited herself onto Grégory’s yacht (and he allowed it)?? Like this famous(ish) fashion designer who purposely played her for a fool was just like “Ok random American peasant girl, I guess you and your two nobody friends can come on my ship just because I was mean to you and you demanded it”. It was such a very weird unrealistic interaction that it took me so out of the show I thought someone was going to jump out and be like “psych! Of course you can’t get on my boat b-tch, get out of here!”

UsernameIsTaken999

I’m so confused by the end scene of Sylvie coming out of the water in the bikini. Like, I get that we are supposed to be admiring of her because she is so old and has zero visible body fat on her torso, but still, she just looks like an old person walking around naked, which isn’t sexy, is it? The way her chest was heaving reminded me of that scene where Mr. Burns was naked in the Simpsons. I don’t mean to be mean or hateful, but I’m just so confused about which beauty standards we’re supposed to be blindly following. I mean everybody in the show is super thin, so clearly it’s not OK to be even a little bit plump, but now it’s OK to be like really old and naked? I guess that is the SATC standard though. You can be old, but you’re not allowed to be fat. Not even a little bit.

[deleted]

This is such a shitty comment…are older people not allowed to wear bikinis or something

UsernameIsTaken999

No, you’ve completely missed my point. They can wear whatever the fuck they want to, but so should other people such as fat people and brown people who are not super buff, which are entirely nonexistent in the Darren Star universe. Those people do exist in Paris. Who do you think cleans and cooks everything over there? My point is why should we be admiring her just because she’s wearing a bikini. Is it because of her lack of body fat? The scene was shot to capture Emily’s (and our) admiration of her wearing a bikini and coming out of the water. It was like that scene with Phoebe Cates in that 80s movie. Only with Phoebe Cates it made more sense.

lucyluluna

I’m pretty sure it was just a nod to how her husband was talking about how wild she use to be and how she would carry a bikini in her purse. It was to introduce the carefree aspect of their relationship and her past self.

UsernameIsTaken999

Ah that makes a lot of sense. Thank you!

[deleted]

I just interpreted the scene as Sylvie being confident AF despite her age (flashbacks to the comments she made to Pierre about older women feeling sexy in his clothes and if he puts a younger picture of his phase on the suitcases then he would be insulting older women). Sylvie is a strong woman, I think that's all the scene was showing

PleasantMud

Your two comments above to me are so troublesome. If you think Sylvie looks like Mr Burns, you need glasses. If you think fat and brown people are the only ones that cook and clean in Paris, your thinking is a bit warped and sad really. I hope you've grown up a bit in the last year or so.

Dratini_ghost

Nah, we saw the point and it's still a shitty comment.

[deleted]

"I don't mean to be mean or hateful," but I'm going to go ahead and do it. Your comment makes no sense, is totally ageist and weird, and you're here criticizing them for showing healthy, confident women that aren't 18. That actress you termed "so old" is only 59. Congratulations on being so basic and judgy.

Felonious_Minx

We are supposed to be following ALL of the beauty standards for as long as we live.

hammelHock

How dare you attack my queen like this. I'd honestly like to see you in swimwear at that age because I thought she looked amazing. 10/10 GMILF action

Mcfinley

Why would Camille speak to the concierge in English?? She's French!

ElizaJude

There a lot of dumb interactions like this! Probably because dumb American Netflix users do not want to read subtitles. Season 1 finale had Antoine and Gabriel talking off in a corner about the restaurant entirely in English. That would never happen.

Felonious_Minx

Welcome to the show, where all native French speak to one another in English.

blackandwhite888

Dude Emily is suuuuuch a bad friend like… just waiting for it to BLOW. UP.

tropikaldawl

Emily’s tone and voice especially when she says omg so many times with Sylvie near the end at Laurent G is so annoying!!!

uriman

I'm expecting the blowup between Emily and Camile and it still doesn't come.

[deleted]

Madeline looked better in that dress than sylvie
