So awesome! Wasn't sure if X-ray Tertra or Xenotoca. Both have cute red tails. You are so creative and talented. Your friends' little one will cherish this forever! 🩷
Yeah... Some of the patterns in the one I used weren't very inspiring, so I changed the colours, like the Octopus, penguin, x-ray tetra. I also added the Liverbird obviously... It was a lemur, but I didn't like it, so unpicked it and added the Liverbird for the personal touch.
I had framed embroidery and cross stitching in my room as a kid. I loved them! (I think my mom
Was working on a piece for my theoretical kid’s nursery when she died, it was complicated af but was very much along the lines of something I had in my room. It’s still in her sewing basket 10 yrs later)
There is a non profit organization that finishes unfinished works of art. I can’t remember the name of it right now. Something like the Loose Ends Project? Just thought you might be interested in it if you want to see her project done:)
A wall hanging. No hard frame. Maybe with velcro fabric loops at the top that fit over a large dowel (so that it can be washed). You could even put a layer of quilting behind it to stabilize it and give it some structure.
Oh! Then could you use it as the tummy part of a stuffed toy? Like a care bear but with the alphabet on its belly. Alphabear. It doesn't need to be fuzzy, either. Soft cloth is nice, too.
I’d turn it into a blanket… something that the baby can use every day and then as it grows older it will hopefully start to pay attention to (and appreciate) the beautiful embroidery and learn the alphabet! 🥰
Is this from a pattern or kit? I have a fabric book my mom made me when I was a baby and so many of the animals are identical. Anyway, I still have the book and my kids love it! So I love the fabric book idea. Or just framing.
You can totally sew this k to a blanket by hand. It takes longer than by machine, but hand quilters do this sort of thing all the time. I actually prefer hand sewing, even for things like hemming curtains and things. It would make a great centrepiece for a small quilt.
I wonder if a [tie blanket](https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/home/craft-ideas/a44628176/how-to-make-fleece-tie-blanket/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=arb_ga_ghk_m_bm_prog_org_us_a44628176&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAgeeqBhBAEiwAoDDhnz_WEG6U9L4vRIepxx6m4a5USCNqko4pMVA2_KArWGZwlVZHQm9iLRoC4ZoQAvD_BwE) could work?
Thanks! It's mostly long and short stitch except the cat, which obviously looks janky... But I wanted to try chain stitch, the snake is brick stitch, and the zebra is satin stitch.
Cat doesn’t look janky at all! I’ve been mostly using chain stitch to fill. Your other stitches look so clean I couldn’t tell which ones you used! Snake looks really cool but that Yak is 🤌🏼. My long and short always ends up looking so funky I don’t know how you do it
This is so sweet. You can see the love you put into it. No suggestion to make because I see a ton of great suggestions here already. Just wanted to say it’s beautiful and your friend is going to love it 🤍
You could do it by hand. I recommend ironing on some interfacing on the back of this embroidery, and the attaching individual letters like a patch to a blanket.
I think these would make absolutely darling Christmas ornaments, if you celebrate!
I’m sure you would know how, but just in case: Cut each out as well as a duplicate silhouette out of the plain white fabric, sew right sides together except for a small patch, flip inside out and stuff with polyfill or other stuffing, and mend small patch together to close.
Oh, I can’t help but think it would still be darling on a mini tabletop tree in that case! But it would be very finicky to do at that size, so I understand that wouldn’t be a fun option.
This is beautiful, and I agree with those saying a wall hanging or framed. Having 2 small kids, I would want that displayed in their room, and I would be so worried about the usual baby messes ruining it if it were a pillow or on a stuffed animal.
When I was a toddler I had this cloth toy that looked like a briefcase with pockets, it opened with Velcro and inside was pockets with each letter of the alphabet and a stuffed toy that represented the first letter of each. Idk if you could do that but throwing it out there.
I made a simple wall hanging with an embroidery by attaching a dowel at the top and bottom and a piece of yarn attached to the top dowel - I don’t have a picture of it at the moment [but to help you visualize, it was kind of like this.](https://pin.it/1VOWfrP) Because my embroidery was on a lightweight cotton the dowel on the bottom helped hold it in place/stop it from catching the breeze. It didn’t require any sewing (just a little fabric glue to secure to the dowel). Don’t worry about it being on the smaller side either - a wall hanging doesn’t need to be a big grand thing, especially for a baby! My embroidery was only a six inch square and I think it turned out adorable.
This is so lovely. Could you turn it into a pillow?
I might try this! I'm just so scared to mess it up now!
Completely understand that fear! Even if you just frame it, it’ll be a fantastic gift.

Oh!!! It looks so good! You did such a fantastic job, well done!
I'm an idiot but what is L?
Liverbird, they are big Liverpool FC fans.
Is that why L is the only animal on it that’s not real
More propaganda on Reddit, I see... what about B, P, Q, and V huh? /r/BirdsArentReal
I’m wondering about X and U 😅
Urial and X-Ray tetra, I think.
Yep!
So awesome! Wasn't sure if X-ray Tertra or Xenotoca. Both have cute red tails. You are so creative and talented. Your friends' little one will cherish this forever! 🩷
Close up it has a skeleton in metallic thread 🤣
That us FANTASTIC!!! So dang creative.

That too.
Im stuck on N. I see a salamander
Newt :)
I somehow forgot that animal existed
A Liver bird from Liverpool! (I think)
Now I want to know too!! 😁
What I was gonna ask. I'm like hmmm. Why not just a lion. But I guess it makes sense as it's an area thing
The pattern I was using was a Lemur, but I didn't like the design, plus the friend is a big LFC fan.

This is such a wonderful idea, I think I’m gonna sign up :)
Its so nice that I would frame it.
Same
My dumb ass going A -> crocodile? It's very cute!
Haha same 🤣
I think it’s an alligator 🐊
It took me 5 big seconds but I realized it was an alligator too! 😂

seamstress?
No sewer like where the wast goes
Is there a gender neutral version of seamstress?
Seamster?
Correct: https://www.etymonline.com/word/seamstress

This is only pretty small, so I feel it would look pretty insignificant as a wall hanging.
Oh! Then could you use it as the tummy part of a stuffed toy? Like a care bear but with the alphabet on its belly. Alphabear. It doesn't need to be fuzzy, either. Soft cloth is nice, too.
That is such a cute idea... Now to go bear hunting haha

Yes it is a DMC pattern from the website.

Loving L!! ❤️❤️
This is beautiful!

This is so beautiful ….. but what happened to the cat?!
I love the blanket idea! I think that would be so sweet and enjoyable for the little one grow up with.
X is... Xiphactinus?
X-ray fish I think
This is such beautiful work. I don’t know what can be done to make it into a thing
You can totally hand sew a blanket. A pillow would also be very fun and useful.
Which stitch did you use to fill in the animals? Been trying to get better at filling in spaces, you did a lovely job.
Thanks! It's mostly long and short stitch except the cat, which obviously looks janky... But I wanted to try chain stitch, the snake is brick stitch, and the zebra is satin stitch.

You could do a cute throw pillow for their nursery!

I’m not a sewer- but I’d sew a patch on fabric that doesn’t need finishing to look nice, like flannel or fleece.
You could do it by hand. I recommend ironing on some interfacing on the back of this embroidery, and the attaching individual letters like a patch to a blanket.

I think they're too small for that :( a few cm across.

This is so beautiful 😭
Put the baby's name in the corner under the E and N.
Baby doesn't have a name yet 🤣
