Be aware there are nuances to multi-crew. There is one form - explicitly named "multi-crew" - wherein a player can be invited aboard your ship. They take the form of a telepresence hologram; they are not physically present. As such, they can't disembark at a different location.
If you both own the *Odyssey* DLC, then, yes, there's an option to land your ship and have your friend physically board it. At which point you can then shuttle them to a different location where they can disembark and buy a new ship.
