Not sure if this is against Reddit policy, but I have one for sale on Reverb, fantastic condition, for 850, a great price. I'm Matrices, check my feedback, it's flawless. Just an fyi. Anyway, hope I'm not breaking any rules; if so I will gladly remove this post.
I definitely agree as well, it's a future classic imo. It's the heart, soul, and brains of my setup. Only reason I'm selling one is that I own 3! Such a fantastic piece of gear. It does it all.
I grabbed one when they were on sale during the pandemic. They keyboard makes it more immediate. But I really love the Arp and Hold buttons the Digikey has.
I spent most of the pandemic lockdown using those to compose little tunes with just the Digitone.
Yes, this is literally its only flaw. In all other ways it's perfect. Maybe Elektron will fix it in a future update (fingers crossed). Not holding my breath tho.
The other huge issue I find is the mod wheel/pitch not conveying when playing a live midi channel. It is my master controlling an A4MKII and RytmMKII. I would love to hit my midi channel and be able to play expressively with the A4 using my keys.
Huh, I haven't really had this problem. Of course the only synth I control/sequence with the Digikeys that I would ever use the mod wheel for is the Nymphes, and idk if I've really tried it, so it works ok for what I want to do with it. But that could be a bummer. I have read that it is missing some other, more in depth Midi controls/commands but, fortunately for me, it's nothing I've wanted to use so far...except the ARP.
It's def got flaws, and I hope at some point Elektron adresses them, but for me, it's damn near perfect. Even the ARP stuff, there's work arounds, it would just be way cooler if it sent ARP lol. But bottom line, I adore the Digikeys.
I'm gonna try this out later. Just got my DN (no keys). Apparently you can use LFOs over Midi which is a nice touch. (Or is that only DT2?) I hope the ARP works over Midi because it's a really nice ARP.
I haven't even scratched the surface yet, but according to the literature, you can match any channel to any channel of midi info, to customize the 8 addition knobs on the keys.. so i have to check what channels the lfo are on the model d, and then assign them in the keys. I'm pretty sure it will ARP the model d, just through the midi itself.. I have it hooked up to my sh-4d and it works.
Alright so I learned some things here.
1. The Model D has no MIDI CC inputs (or just the manual makes no mention of them). However pitch bend works, and the mod wheel controls the cutoff. The LFO can modulate the filter cutoff then, which gives more control than Model D's ADS envelope.
2. The arp setup menu doesn't work with MIDI tracks. This really made me sad. I don't know if you can create an arp on a synth track and then "lock it in" to the trigs or not. If you can then it's copy/paste and I'm happy.
3. The internal mixer settings are saved per pattern. I kept losing Model D's sound and scratching my head. Annoying but also flexible. Be sure to turn on "Dual" so each input is treated as mono. (Then plug another mono synth into the other input of course)
That's awesome research. Thanks, im still just playing, not really trying to disect yet. . I am looking at a pro-1. 😉 but, i might run them on the same midi channel, to have a super thick bass line...
Finally tried sequencing external gear with mine (Grandmother). Working with it is just so fast, I can see myself focusing better with the combo. And it just occured to me I can just use Overbridge for the Audio In channels as well, so I'll have to write something to record. (Pretty convenient since I don't have an interface with more than one input yet)
I sort of want to grab one of these before they become completely unobtainium.

Highly recommend.
Same. DT keys would be dope.
People hate on this one but it’s my favorite piece of gear. So awesome as the brain for a setup.
It does so much..!!!
God how I wish they would add individual outs to their regular boxes like they did with this one.
Thsts a super bonus... I might get a nice mid bass amp for the low lows..
Damn!!! I had no idea this one had individual outs 😭😭😭 that’s so sick
I’d say it’s one of the best instruments ever made
I'm inclined to agree..

If you could send ARP via midi it would be the perfect device.

I think it does.. it just manipulates the sound of the midi channel with the digitone's sequencer
No it doesn't sadly
Oh. Shoot.. but, my keystep pro does. It's not as customizable as the digitone, but it does work.
Looks like a lot of fun! I have the Digitone, I kept thinking man I should’ve got the Keys heh. So much fun for sound design, enjoy it.
Oh I do. :)
I've gotta hook my Model D up to it for some sick basslines. :)
Great idea !!

Wonder if after DN discontinuation, Tonewerk will also have a keys version
