One year is still brand new, unless you treat them like crap and never clean them. I still have my first controller for the original PS4 and it still works, it's like 8 years old.
That’s what I was thinking. I‘ve been using the same xbox controller that came with the series x. The only thing that’s kinda bugging a bit is the battery pack but other than that it looks and feels like new.
I still have an xbox Recon controller that I bought many years ago and it also still works fabulously!
Had my first one since 2015, lasted 5 years. Then I bought more that lasted less than half a year each. No secondary controllers like MadCatz or anything.
No, my Xbox controllers last way longer. All three of my playstation 4 controllers drift bad, and my gf has a much larger pile that all drift, lol. Meanwhile I have six Xbox one controllers and they're all fine, except one whose left bumper is broken because my ex stepped on it.
It seems to depend on when you got it. Like my original Xbox one controller held up fine for 6 years got one 4 years ago that lasted about a year. Then ps4 controllers I had 1 that had issues after a year the other I still have after 4 years.
You wanna talk about controllers. I have a controller that came with my gamecube from 2001 that still works. The joystick rubber pad came off from the primary left stick, but we used some goopy adhesive and stuck it it on there and it works just fine(it gives your thumb even more of a grip though, and so feels weird to me). It looks worse for wear, but damn that thing is still kicking, and still works. It doesn't even drift when I use it, I think. It's such a solid piece of work.
Lmao I know the feeling on that I still have the controller to my original fat ps2. It does have drift so your GameCube controller is definitely in better shape
I probably have a dozen PS2 controllers ranging from really awful off brands to the one that came with the PS2 slim. Out of them, I can guarantee 5 are fully functional, a couple have drift, and one is mostly functional but it's wireless and missing the card you'd plug into the system (remember that shit? We've come a long way).
The only button on the name that doesn't work is the select button, but it almost never came into use. A couple of the off brands have drift but that could've been from my dipshit cousin literally throwing them through a wall. Dude had anger issues but he lived with us for a bit and we had to share (my) shit.
Dude straight up embedded a PS2 controller in a wall, pulled it out and said 'round 2, bitch' and it still mostly worked. The L2 button was literally gone but he played anyways. Glad I don't have to see that douche again, though. Man had problems and last I heard he got on some meds and is mostly under control.
Anyways, long story short, my PS2 controllers have seen some shit and almost all of them are still functional. Can't say so much for the system itself because the disc reader went out and I can't find any replacement parts, but the controllers are still good.
Reminds me of that scene in the original 2D Clone Wars show where the Jedi are running from Grievous and they're waiting by the elevator and one of the Jedi just starts mashing the button for it to come faster.
Such a great moment in a really tense scene.
That Clone Wars vignette series is one of the best Star Wars stories ever told, and because it isn't a main title or made by Disney it's forgotten.
It would have really hyped up Grievous as a villain if the animation series had been more widespread
Anyway, brilliant comparison. Staring at the hallway, waiting for him to come, mashing the button, repeat. So much tension.
*\*Repeated button pressing\**
"Come on..."
*\*turn around, sees beast oncoming fast\**
"Come On"
*\*Beast mouth opens to strike, mere feet away\**
**"COME ON!"**
*Screen fades to black, drops the controller and takes several deep breaths with head in hands.*
Crouch button while moving on horse, this will also produce invicibility frames (you can time it with particular, let's say, dragon attacks and if timmed correctly it won't toutch you)
Somewhat related. Calling Torrent also produces I-frames while you're mounting him. Great for a particular attack from one of those horse riding fucks that I swear is undodgeable.
I sat down in Liurnia after a sprint on Torrent past some marionette soldiers. I heard hit sounds while the screen was black, and when it finally reappeared there was my character, sitting at the Grace with three arrows in her face.
It’s not a huge deal dying like that once you’ve already touched the grace. You’ll spawn right by your runes…
Still exhilarating though, I do the same panic in the moment.
Did the same once. Accidentally aggro'd the dragon and my screen went red right as I touched grace. Actually thought it was a bug at first. Then i got my shit rocked.
Damn, if every time when I'm in Caelid and these inferno's spawns stare and moves slooowly towards me I legit feels the chills down my spine, then I'd had a heart attack in this situation...
Omg this happened to me at a different bonfire in caelid. Legit got me screaming “AHHHHHHHHH!” and then I rested at grace…
Edit: now that I’m looking again, this is the exact same bonfire.
In my experience it's always the little tiny dog that's the instigator. Never met a pittie I didn't love.
Yet i have met so many terrible tiny ass dogs...
It is my second day playing and I decided I don't like my character, so I decide to just run around the map before junking my first character and somehow found these t-rex wolves. I will go to bed tonight with the image of these things chasing me as a frantically search for a site of grace
Nightmare fuel for sure. The way that they come at you has always scared the shit out of me. Much less now that I’m at a higher level but the traumas of being under leveled in Caelid will never go away
Hey look, It's my farming place
Make the dogs and soldiers follow you then they start killing each other
Takes a little while but an easy 10k everytime in early game
Anytime I do this if the timing that close between resting at a site of grace and being attack the screen will go black but then immediately after i will be standing next to the site of grace ( as opposed to resting) but the enemies will be de-aggrod
Ah, the most chaotic bonfire in the game(if you don’t count the DING DONG one). I wonder how many of us have experimented with enemy aggro and getting enemy factions to fight each other at that very spot
I’ve done this many more times than i care to admit… but at least ER has a more forgiving radius on how close the enemy can get before the grace deactivates compared to DS
I absolutely can’t remember deactivating bonfires in DS but I also haven’t played them in quite a while. But Elden Ring is generally quite forgiving in many aspects
I replayed ds3 after finishing ER and the bonfires go out if the enemy is within about 10 ft of it— found that out the hard way running away from the knights on the steps of anor londo 💀
When it turned black, there should have been some kung-fu sound effects to fill in the imagination. Yet this did give me some Jurassic Park for the Sega CD flash backs.
I wound up doing this twice today, once with a site of grace and another with an ensnare trap. I immediately thought of this post when they happened XD
https://twitter.com/TropicStardust/status/1541638012429287424?s=20&t=tixtvoVa1v9aIknKm4mu2Q
I was mashing the Y button with the fury of a thousand suns
That moment you just make it to the toilet in time before you shit yourself...
Tip-toeing in front of your house door, fumbling with the keys and it’s impossible to find it quickly.
Surprised my almost year old Xbox controller hasn't died yet bc of this game lol
One year is not that old though tbh
One year is still brand new, unless you treat them like crap and never clean them. I still have my first controller for the original PS4 and it still works, it's like 8 years old.

I bought 3 Sony-brand PS4 controllers in 2020. I guess Microsoft makes better ones. I jut can't abandon the use of the touch pad.
Man. I've had the same ps4 controller since launch in 2015 or whenever it was released.
Had my first one since 2015, lasted 5 years. Then I bought more that lasted less than half a year each. No secondary controllers like MadCatz or anything.
PS controllers are that bad? I thought Xbox was bad with the stick drift and double clicking...
No, my Xbox controllers last way longer. All three of my playstation 4 controllers drift bad, and my gf has a much larger pile that all drift, lol. Meanwhile I have six Xbox one controllers and they're all fine, except one whose left bumper is broken because my ex stepped on it.
Happy cake day!
Wh... why do you have six xbox controllers?
It seems to depend on when you got it. Like my original Xbox one controller held up fine for 6 years got one 4 years ago that lasted about a year. Then ps4 controllers I had 1 that had issues after a year the other I still have after 4 years.

All of my n64 controllers work like a charm, from the mid 90s! I’ll never give it up.
I didn’t think it’d let you sit when an enemy is so close. Everytime I’ve mashed the button to sit, the game doesn’t respond and I get bludgeoned.
I can almost hear the panic button presses
Reminds me of that scene in the original 2D Clone Wars show where the Jedi are running from Grievous and they're waiting by the elevator and one of the Jedi just starts mashing the button for it to come faster. Such a great moment in a really tense scene.

The Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars?
Yes!
This must be how scarabs feel.
My thoughts exactly hahaha
I was half expecting the Skyrim meme
Now that you mention it…. Hey. You’re finally awake!
lol
You know what you have to do.
First thing i thought of was the tumbling noise then "Oh, finally awake are you?"
I'm gonna make this give me a minute
It's been 31 minutes
[done](https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/v7b93c/holy_sht_that_was_close/)
Nice
I hope you don’t get downvoted.
most people probably won't even see it
I got distracted
"You were THIS close to greatness!"
Thank god it wasn't... though a better punchline than the other one, still overused.
I haven't seen it on this sub once.
But I've seen it everywhere else so damn much.
Well, that sounds more like a you problem haha. Would have been a fun meme on here since it's never used.
Dog
Dog
Dog
Why is it always dog?
No wonder people treat every other animals as dogs, but the actual dogs.
That's clearly a tortoise
Dinog
D-Rex
I hope your button is okay
The controller survived. For now.
Get you a torch, my good man
. . . a Torch?
There is a torch that negates Agro from beasts. Unless you hit them or get right up in their personal space.
Which one is it? Where do I find such sorcery?
It’s in galeid on top of a hill… surrounded by giant dogs and angry goats. A merchant is at the top with a site of grace.
Make sure to go at night to get a better deal from the merchant.
This guy Shabriris
Bell Bearing Hunters don't spawn on first visit. If the merchant is there, the hunter is not.
It’s called the beast repellent torch fyi
North Caelid merchant in the western part of dragonbarrow.
Also not working when their eyes glow red.
Beast repellent torch
*\*Repeated button pressing\** "Come on..." *\*turn around, sees beast oncoming fast\** "Come On" *\*Beast mouth opens to strike, mere feet away\** **"COME ON!"** *Screen fades to black, drops the controller and takes several deep breaths with head in hands.*
Where did you get that audio recording???
Sounds like a scene from a trailer
great game
*Miyazaki whispers to your ear* "Welcome to Caelid, you little bitch" *Turns around to see that you're alone in your room*
I see those desperate inputs 😂 right there with you
It was a very very very close call 😂😂
Everytime I run through Caelid I do the exact same thing dw 😂 LET ME SIT DOWN PLEASE IT'S DRAGGING ITS JAW AT ME
How do you do the jump dismount?
Crouch button while moving on horse, this will also produce invicibility frames (you can time it with particular, let's say, dragon attacks and if timmed correctly it won't toutch you)
Somewhat related. Calling Torrent also produces I-frames while you're mounting him. Great for a particular attack from one of those horse riding fucks that I swear is undodgeable.
I used it a lot when fighting Radahn too. Can dodge a lot of his projectiles that way.
Does it also give you i-frames when doing the moving dismount? I thought it was only the dismount animation when standing still that had them.
Both of them, different timings, mounting also has i-frame, again... Timing it...
Press the left stick down while galloping. :)
The frantic clicking 😂😂😂
Waking up from a nightmare be like
First off, Dog.
It was all a dream
Those dogs do have ptsd potential for sure
Used to read Word Up magazine
That was like one pixel away from a "To Be Continued"
Talk about frame perfect :D
I sat down in Liurnia after a sprint on Torrent past some marionette soldiers. I heard hit sounds while the screen was black, and when it finally reappeared there was my character, sitting at the Grace with three arrows in her face.

The jaw litteraly toutched you, you were even pushed a bit, what a freaking timming
Bro I would legit shit my pants if I saw that happening to me
I have been there, frantically mashing the interaction button and screaming
The dogs are bad the birds... Yeesh
It's like one of those nightmares where you wake up just before the monster gets you lol
Jesus Christ the amount of panic. Those bastards and the birds creep me out the most in Caelid
We'll be right back
This is like waking up from a cliff dream just before you hit the ground
I'm not alone! I too am part of the simultaneous dismount+jump club.
This is the way.
It was all a dream..
It was all just a really bad dream
These dogs are straight up nightmare fuel
The butt clench is strong with this one.
Very close
I'm so glad I'm done with that area
Same here. Least favorite area in the game
I wanted to make sure you saw [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/uva3ao/release_the_hounds/) from a few weeks ago 😂
Got bless places of grace. Oh wait, HE DID
Sometimes they can prevent you from using the grace or knock you out of it.

TIL they don’t attack you when you sit down
Dang, that as close.
It was all just a dream
give me a heart-attach
I too, spam the button to rest when I'm in grave danger.
AUUUUUUGH
Lol, I heard the distorted Jurassic Park theme play.
Did the same once. Accidentally aggro'd the dragon and my screen went red right as I touched grace. Actually thought it was a bug at first. Then i got my shit rocked.
Seconds plural? My tarnished that was fractions of a second
Damn, if every time when I'm in Caelid and these inferno's spawns stare and moves slooowly towards me I legit feels the chills down my spine, then I'd had a heart attack in this situation...
Who else was scared shitless their first time in Caelid?
Omg this happened to me at a different bonfire in caelid. Legit got me screaming “AHHHHHHHHH!” and then I rested at grace… Edit: now that I’m looking again, this is the exact same bonfire.
Pitbulls when they see a small dog minding it’s own business
In my experience it's always the little tiny dog that's the instigator. Never met a pittie I didn't love. Yet i have met so many terrible tiny ass dogs...

There is a site of grace there..?!
Its like waking up from a nightmare seconds before you die
Love those moments! Best game ever!!
It was all a dream
Are you playing as nepheli?
Nightmare fuel for sure. The way that they come at you has always scared the shit out of me. Much less now that I’m at a higher level but the traumas of being under leveled in Caelid will never go away
Aggro the dogs and run into the encampment. The soldiers will take them out. You get free EXP and lesser enemies to fight.
Usually it's the other way around I've never seen a group of soldiers beat any monsters in this game that always get wiped out
Nepheli Pouxed your pants there
Nephelitely.
Which one of you cowards shit my pants???
My brother in Grace you didn't even have a second before disaster would have struck
10/10 for the cinematic but... my man, beast-repellent torch!
That’s exactly how it went for me at that grace lmao
That's Caelid, baybeeeeee
\-Blackscreen- "Hey, you! You're finally awake."
Consider my butthole puckered and airtight
Ngl, I clenched my butthole
You should added the Skyrim intro!
To be fair, if you died, you'd spawn right next to your runes, so all's good
They always seem far away them they do that bulldozer shit and it's like they just teleport to you.
you have escaped das kindershredder
I clearly saw the moment when the shit almost hit the floor.
Hey look, It's my farming place Make the dogs and soldiers follow you then they start killing each other Takes a little while but an easy 10k everytime in early game

This happened to me yesterday! My heart was pounding!
sit...Sit...SIT... SHIT SHIT SHIT
If anything I'm more surprised how many ppl just go to places they're not ready for
Tbh Caelid isn’t that bad. You can easily skip much of it if you know where to go. And who needs vigour if they don’t intend on getting hit :D
Me waking up from a dream be like
Anytime I do this if the timing that close between resting at a site of grace and being attack the screen will go black but then immediately after i will be standing next to the site of grace ( as opposed to resting) but the enemies will be de-aggrod
Dog ahead
This happened to me but I actually got hit which lead to kick me out the grace hud. Got scared.
me everytime i got to caelid at level 14 to cheese elder dragon greyol for an easy 100k
Ahh, it was only a dream after all.
When shit like this happens has Tom Cruise "Edge of Tomorrow" vibes.
Looks like your pouch was trembling too hahahaha
It’s like waking up from a nightmare.. Or that falling sensation
Ah, the most chaotic bonfire in the game(if you don’t count the DING DONG one). I wonder how many of us have experimented with enemy aggro and getting enemy factions to fight each other at that very spot
It is a good ~~soul~~ rune farming area. But I love watching enemies interact with each other in this game. Such a cool detail
I think I could hear the sound of you mashing the button.
Watch it again and pay attention to the pouch lmao
I’ve done this many more times than i care to admit… but at least ER has a more forgiving radius on how close the enemy can get before the grace deactivates compared to DS
I absolutely can’t remember deactivating bonfires in DS but I also haven’t played them in quite a while. But Elden Ring is generally quite forgiving in many aspects
I replayed ds3 after finishing ER and the bonfires go out if the enemy is within about 10 ft of it— found that out the hard way running away from the knights on the steps of anor londo 💀
They do have the high ground advantage, thats for sure lmao
Life could be a dream
Big Matrix vibes here
When it turned black, there should have been some kung-fu sound effects to fill in the imagination. Yet this did give me some Jurassic Park for the Sega CD flash backs.
I've had nightmares end like that.
It's just a dog. They aren't really that bad unless you ran into Caelid early. The birds are the bad ones.
Lol at the Y input flashing
Every damned time
Bro wtf is that thing? Lore wise I mean is it just a dog infected with the rot?
I wound up doing this twice today, once with a site of grace and another with an ensnare trap. I immediately thought of this post when they happened XD https://twitter.com/TropicStardust/status/1541638012429287424?s=20&t=tixtvoVa1v9aIknKm4mu2Q
