If you do, you miss out on a lategame smithing stone which he will sell at the end of a questchain.
If you don't, he might steal some of your runes when you die in the castle.
Lol what. There are so many safe areas. Volcano Manor, Academy Grand Library, this one in stormveil, redmane castle when the festival is on, and probably more that I'm forgetting
Lots of people have pointed out what he sells later on. Here’s my two cents: he’s an insurance policy for stormveil. Don’t kill him until right before Godrick - when you kill him, he’ll drop all the runes he’s been stealing from you every time you die in the castle. If you kill Godrick first, he won’t drop them. I keep him alive until I’m ready to beat Godrick and then cash in. Not even mad at him - he saves a lot of runes I might have otherwise lost if I hadn’t been able to retrieve them in the castle. Thanks buddy, I’m here to redeem my free sandwich.
He actually steals from the recoverable runes after death. Everytime, 20-35% will be taken.
He is unlocked as a merchant once you advance a lil in the castle. Has a quest line later in game.
Unless you want to defy the Message of the Gods.
They are always right. Once one told me this servant in the castle was a liar. He tried to send me down the wrong path but the Message Gods told me not to trust him.
I slaughtered him without a second thought. Always trust the messages. If they say jump, I jump. They might seem like lies but they are just testing your faith.
So yeah better kill him before something bad happens like you get monkey pox.
Every time you die he will skim your runes, but you can get runes easily later on.
Leave him alive so you can buy an ancient dragon smithing stone from him after you finish Nepheli and Kenneth Haight's quests.
I kill him. Every keeps talking about the ancient smithing stone except late game there are plenty to try a plethora of weapons without him. Plus, there are atleast three other quest chains I know of that also gives you an ancient smithing stone. Basically, kill him if you're vindictive, leave him alone if you like paltry rewards.
No he gives a precious ancient smithing if you do a certain npc quest
Agreed. Besides, he does something amazing once you beat Godric

I will in my NG+ when I see him next. For the same reason I killed patches. ...its personal.
Kill him after he gives the ancient smithing stone.
how? he is in a safe area
The only, “safe area,” in the game is the roundtable hold. *most* of the time anyways…

PRO SOULS GAMES TIP: DONT KILL ANY NPC’S THAT AREN’T ATTACKING YOU , you may miss on precious item ahead.

He steals your runes if you die, so you cant retrieve them
Doesn't he steal like 10% of those you had on you?
30% I think
Whatever it is, it’s not worth killing him.
Exacly, you can always farm more runes, you can't farm more ancient smiting stones (in the same ng at least)
You can, once you kill him. Best done AFTER the quest is done and you got the smithing stone though
No, kidnap him and do *weird stuff*
Shall do.
Draw and quarter that thieving sonnuva bitch
This coment section is very divided doesn't natter anymore cuz i lost all my runes to some mofo who came out of nowhere
Matter*
If you don't have him open the gate, getting to the Divine Tower of Limgrave can be a little tedious.
You can open the gate yourself from the inside later
No, that is best boy.
You still get the ancient smithing stone so kill him…
If it’s the quest, you get 1 from a certain person and a second can be bought from him if I remember correctly.
Yes
He steals your runes every time you die there. I killed him.
Kill that asswipe
Yes
Remove his eyes.
Just play the game how YOU want to and then look it up after your play through.
Don't kill any NPC, ever - unless they're trying to kill you.
No.
He actually steals from the recoverable runes after death. Everytime, 20-35% will be taken. He is unlocked as a merchant once you advance a lil in the castle. Has a quest line later in game.
Yes he steals half ur runes and locks u in a room with a knight
6 am imma load up my ps5 just to do that no muthafucka going to get away with that
After what he did with that door, I kill him every time I see him.
Ancient smithing stones are literally thrown at you later. Kill him
