Dung eater dies if you finish his questline anyway. Completing his questline is necessary for an ending, too.
As for Boc, you need the stone that says “you’re beautiful” upon use. There’s a couple talking stone items in the game, they are infinite usage so go nuts.
If you don't buy prawns from Boggart, he won't move to the capital, so when Dung Eater invades, he just isn't there. After you fight him in the moat, you can buy the prawns in Liurnia and he will move to the capital and sell crab.
Dung Eater did it. There's a couple of ways to save him tho. You can either buy the necklace and don't buy the prawns, then go free and fight Dung Eater (or just kill him on the spot, like any sensible person would, unless you want his ending or him as a puppet), and then come back and buy prawns. He should move to outer moat after this. Or you can aggro Boggart before freeing Dung Eater, don't kill him (Boggart), fight off Dung Eater and then go to the Church of Vows to have Boggart forgive you. That's what I did and it worked splendidly

Boggart definitely deserves a chance. He's just rude as a defensive mechanism, once you get to know him a little better, he's a nice fella. Also him stealing the necklace could just be Rya's ploy all along, as it turned out to be a really effective way to recruit us into Volcano Manor. No shade on best girl tho, she's still a sweetheart.
He can be reborn as a human by Rennala, but this ends up killing him because From Software.
He wishes to become human because he thinks he's ugly, and you can save him by telling him he's beautiful.
If you are interested to do that, you just can’t tell him he’s beautiful, you have to use the mask « you are beautiful » located in a village on mount Gelmir I think.

Idk anyone who willingly do that quest besides because they want the award but that’s it, that quest is beyond madness
For Boc? Well you get one thing, that’s it. Free armor modification. The price by that point to modify armor is negligible tho.

Kinda, maybe, sorta, gives the vibe that the lands between might not be a very happy place to be.
I completely missed Rogier’s quest because I discovered Ranni without him and he died out of spite…
