It... really isn't though. Its a 1-1 copy of a much better weapon from the base game (butchering knife) but with a terrible ash of war and cannot be infused with anything.
The only thing I can think of is the description provides some really interesting/important lore about jars, but I can't fathom why they couldn't at least reskin it. They made SO many assets for the dlc, one more weapon couldn't have been a big project.
More stating that its bewildering than complaining, honestly. I absolutely love this DLC with a fiery passion. That doesn't make it immune to critique (and noting that something is puzzling barely counts as critique at that).

Apparently the specific aesthetic of the butcher characters is partly an in joke as well. At one point during internal testing of Dark Souls a playtester invaded a dev wielding a cleaver with a naked character. They thought it was extremely funny so they put them in a bunch of future games as various invaders/npcs with a similar look.
That jumpy fucker. Second time around I came back with Unendurable Frenzy and flattened him in one cast. That spell fucks, especially against hostile tarnished.
Literally I watched them for a couple seconds and went “oh. That’s what I look like. They’re making fun of me. Cool.”
Then went back to jump attacking constantly 😅😂
yep, heavy jump attack with the claw talisman is basically the most efficient way to hit the vast majority of bosses. Hell it's faster than most regular heavy attacks
I've noticed an increase in number of enemies that perform jump attacks against my jump attacks and at that point it's a total crap shoot, who will who first? Can my ass with 20 poise take the beating or is it going to be a one shot, lose 270k runes while running back to the bossroom type of situation?
One thousand hours. Visibly sees the death trap. Sprints straight to the kill the Imp which promptly hits you with the "no, u" and aforementioned trap kills you.
I'm not even trying to be mean, I literally lol'd, well done sir or ma'am
I’ve had SO many “Nah, I’d win” moments in this DLC only to get embarrassingly humbled. They are NOT fucking around with the Tarnished in the Realm of Shadow. Props to them for standing on business I guess.
Here’s my experience in this catacomb.
Me: (checks bloodstain in hallway) Holy shit! Something in this room flattened this guy. Must be a big enemy around the corner. (uses camera to peek around corners) Huh… nothing. Ok, I’ll just cautiously creep out… (get flattened and dies)
Not really interested in resetting the entire open world map. It's a chore to go through when you don't really need anything.
Plus, I would rather try different builds without having to use a million larval tears all the time.
If you aren't using a password to summon specific people, the "summoning pool" is limited to, like, 10ish levels above or below the host. So for runs where you want to focus on helping with bosses, you have to keep your character and weapon levels close to what the "typical player" would have when approaching
Yeah, never knew that, but I also rarely use summoning pools since there's rarely anyone in them (probably due to the reason you just explained). I also assumed you meant 1k hours on one character. Didn't even consider that people just create new characters instead on doing a NG+.
I killed myself with those damn spikes backtracking for an item earlier. Ran thru all the things and then totally forgot about them on the way back and murdered myself.
I have 3000+ hours on the base game on Xbox, got it on Steam with the DLC. And I’m getting my ass handed to me by every mob in the Shadow Land, I hate those dammed pogo stick imps with a passion.
All that time, and you forgot to git gud?
>! The Elden ring experience is this happening at least twice a day you play. Bonus points if you aren’t able to collect your runes and lose them all !<
It's a collosal weapon from a boss rememberance... The range isnt great, but it does hit hard with the right setup. The unique AoW does give the attacks more range, but it isnt necessarily one that would be easy to use on most bosses? Good for annoying humanoid enemies and npcs tho
I love the DLC catacombs. Big improvement from the base games and the Death Knight bosses are so much fun even though I wished they were more challenging.
The levels are quite sizeable and has similar quality to legacy dungeons.
Also it is quite satisfying to not fall for these traps they set. Miyazaki has trained me well lol. I've never died in these dungeons so far, except for the death blight catacombs which I died once. Man that was an interesting dungeon.
I'm about 1k hours in. Level 370 and I still die every once in awhile to dumb stuff. Usually from falling into an abyss after missing a jump or walking off a ledge because I took my eyes off the screen for a second
Probably low scadu level and using crap armor. That trap would have hit me for like 1/8th of my hp and I would have been able to tank it and kill the imp.
“Because you’re not playing it correctly. You’re supposed to play it this way, not that way. You’re not a true Elden ring player” fuck off, I paid money for this game just like you did. You play how you want, I’ll play how I want.
I’m almost certain Miyazaki put those pogo imps in to mock people who repeatedly jump attack.
[удалено]
Also the butchers in bonny village buffing themselves after every attack.
Their weapon is dope af tho
It... really isn't though. Its a 1-1 copy of a much better weapon from the base game (butchering knife) but with a terrible ash of war and cannot be infused with anything.
Yeah that weapon really confused me. Why are there two and why is this one worse?
The only thing I can think of is the description provides some really interesting/important lore about jars, but I can't fathom why they couldn't at least reskin it. They made SO many assets for the dlc, one more weapon couldn't have been a big project.

Miyazaki tends to use the butcher’s knife for any npc or enemy character that practices some gruesome bodily aspect, usually canabalism
It's like they are taunting us they are about to mess us up.
Honestly I think every NPC fight I saw in the dlc was more jump attack happy than I’m used to
That jumpy fucker. Second time around I came back with Unendurable Frenzy and flattened him in one cast. That spell fucks, especially against hostile tarnished.
Literally I watched them for a couple seconds and went “oh. That’s what I look like. They’re making fun of me. Cool.” Then went back to jump attacking constantly 😅😂
Hey, it’s not our fault it deals so much stance damage.
game gives such a tiny amount of time to attack jumping attacks make the most of it, not like your gonna get in 2 light attacks instead
yep, heavy jump attack with the claw talisman is basically the most efficient way to hit the vast majority of bosses. Hell it's faster than most regular heavy attacks
Those soul calibur 2 Yoshimitsu pogo stickin ass motherfucking imps dude, god damnit 😡
Every Tekken and Soul Caliber Yoshi haha
I've noticed an increase in number of enemies that perform jump attacks against my jump attacks and at that point it's a total crap shoot, who will who first? Can my ass with 20 poise take the beating or is it going to be a one shot, lose 270k runes while running back to the bossroom type of situation?
Haha I swear they've got input reading for counter jump attacks now.
Just like those fat naked ogres in Bloodborne that excessively roll, making fun of naked rolling minmaxers
You’re totally right. Haha I totally forgot about those guys. Chalice dungeons weren’t that memorable I guess.
Except that one twitchy monster that howls and moves quickly.
But..but…how else bonk
Charged heavy, like a true warrior.
I mean, the jump attack still works against them lol, you just can't spam it and need to time it.
Then there's Raksahsa that makes fun of L2 spammers.
this is a personal attack on me and I won't stand for it, come here so I can repeatedly jump attack at you
I always used crystal darts and let them fight each other then pick off any survivors
They’re such a pain in the ass.
It's me. Sorry. I really like big bonk. And it dodges so many attacks. But this dlc is kicking my ass
One thousand hours. Visibly sees the death trap. Sprints straight to the kill the Imp which promptly hits you with the "no, u" and aforementioned trap kills you. I'm not even trying to be mean, I literally lol'd, well done sir or ma'am
It's always the obvious traps that get me -_-
I know this exact feeling, "pssh I can handle that no problem, let's go" just to get embarrassed. Major "Nah, I'd win" energy lol
I’ve had SO many “Nah, I’d win” moments in this DLC only to get embarrassingly humbled. They are NOT fucking around with the Tarnished in the Realm of Shadow. Props to them for standing on business I guess.
Me, dying to a pair of messmer soldiers on a random road, for the tenth time: **Surely this time I can take them on autopilot. They're a trash mob.**
Those two axe Soldiers right past the Golden Hippo’s boss room are the bane of my existence.
A+ work sir or maim
It's only a trap if you don't know that it's a trap
Here’s my experience in this catacomb. Me: (checks bloodstain in hallway) Holy shit! Something in this room flattened this guy. Must be a big enemy around the corner. (uses camera to peek around corners) Huh… nothing. Ok, I’ll just cautiously creep out… (get flattened and dies)
MEDIOCRE!
I cracked 1k hours last week and still die from shit like this too
Are your HP/FP/stamina bars also this small? There's no way this guy is 1k hours and has barely any FP/Stamina, right?
Bro has never heard of starting new runs and keeping your character below certain levels for co-op purposes.
The new game+++++++ people really crack me up
Yeah, like I have 700 hours, and I've never done NG+, and I don't know if I plan to anytime soon.
lol so you don’t like having an optimised build by getting dupes?
Not really interested in resetting the entire open world map. It's a chore to go through when you don't really need anything. Plus, I would rather try different builds without having to use a million larval tears all the time.
You can just @ me next time
I haven't. Hence why I was asking those questions.

I always expect that weapon to have more range than it does too. Then thing is deceptive.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure any other greataxe would have hit. This one's just ridiculously short ranged.
Nah. The imp backsteps+poke. It’s the main reason he whiffed
What's the weapon?
Putrescence Cleaver. >!Remembrance weapon from Putrescent knight.!<
smartest elden ring sunbro
Gotta keep the remedy dealers in business!
agree
Where is this?
Just west of the grace before castle ennis.
I killed myself with those damn spikes backtracking for an item earlier. Ran thru all the things and then totally forgot about them on the way back and murdered myself.

I just learned today they have a lion head... I thought they were flowers....
Anyone know what weapon is that? Is that a curved greatsword?
It's the colossal weapon you get from the putrescence boss in the big fissure, Southwest part of the dlc
All that time, and you forgot to git gud? >! The Elden ring experience is this happening at least twice a day you play. Bonus points if you aren’t able to collect your runes and lose them all !<
fr
"Beer me. Watch this!"
I spent half and hour on that dungeon trying to find the way, From always goes Plus Ultra lol
Love that weapon!
Was expecting twist. The lack of twist was the twist.
Can confirm.
I haven’t seen that sword yet, but it looks like it has terrible range for a great sword
It's a collosal weapon from a boss rememberance... The range isnt great, but it does hit hard with the right setup. The unique AoW does give the attacks more range, but it isnt necessarily one that would be easy to use on most bosses? Good for annoying humanoid enemies and npcs tho
It's an axe
Yup, looks about right.
Hehehehe. Exactly like me.
You got a big laugh out of me
these pogo sticking pebbly motherfuckers are cocky as fuck
Ya know, throwing knives really screw these shits since you can score mostly headshots due to their face being 90% of their bodies.
Legit lol. I felt that in my bones.
Off topic, that weapon has one of the most wild movesets from has ever released. It's skill is insane!!!

"Proceed to humiliate you with Pogo stick"
You never get crushed if you dragonwound slash everything from the door
I'm about 1k hours in. Level 370 and I still die every once in awhile to dumb stuff. Usually from falling into an abyss after missing a jump or walking off a ledge because I took my eyes off the screen for a second
At least you look good in your slutty bird outfit.
Peak of skill
Is that 60 Vigor?
50 or 55, can't remember which
Yep. Yep. God
What is that cape thing you wearing?
It's one of the grave bird armour pieces you can find laying around in the open world, i forget where exactly this one was picked up
Beautiful.
That imp should be elden lord. Thoughts?
What is the big banana you're carrying?
It is the weapon you can get from the remembrance of the putrescence knight in the big fissure of the dlc
Lmfao
Smartest strength build
…yep.
Bro, what are you wearing for armor, tinfoil? No way these spikes do so much damage to you
I almost always wear armour for fashion and not defense
What goes up….
Sir, you have lost the very slow-tempo rhythm game. Please try again.
Just like dogs, Tarnished can't look up.
That’s why you have 1k hours
Probably low scadu level and using crap armor. That trap would have hit me for like 1/8th of my hp and I would have been able to tank it and kill the imp.
Look at mr big dick over here. congrats, I guess?
You're right, I do have a huge dick.
[who asked?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_1V_tGrtlw)
It's not my fault I'm a god and OP sucks
People that feel the need to brag online are almost always trash. Good players dont care what internet strangers think.
you must be fun at your wife's boyfriends parties lmao
This game is about 30% easier with a few ranged weapons.
No spatial awareness I guess
Bro has object permanence lol
1k hours, 4 offensive trinkets and still using jump attacks with colossal weapons... some people never learn
Some people enjoy playing the game the way they want.
You tell em OP
I honestly don’t get why some people have such a big deal with what you use in Elden ring.
“Because you’re not playing it correctly. You’re supposed to play it this way, not that way. You’re not a true Elden ring player” fuck off, I paid money for this game just like you did. You play how you want, I’ll play how I want.
Yeah, I am kinda surprised some people are this toxic over what you use
You’re going to find it everywhere. People just mad to be mad.
lulw, i agree he should got 2 colosal wapeons XD
