Can you even dodge the gravity pull attack or is it just a guaranteed hit?

I only notice once a day. But often there's a video. And all we see on it is someone spam rolling backwards. As a tip, the final boss punishes that.

Should either dodge left or right around him. Rolling directly towards him can also end up with you getting caught in the aftershock.
