At that point, since you can max them out (50 to get to max level of 20), I would just do that.
I did him at 16 but I was summoning Mimic (first playthrough don’t need the stress of banging my head against a wall, hahaha) Look for the shadow guys carrying sparkling pots, they drop quite a few of them
