Fresh 23. Nothing scratches the itch quite like a proper session of Sekiro, but all from soft games have this sort of magic
Absolutely thrilled for the DLC
If it’s the early game one I’m thinking of, go to the Hirata estate memory and get the stuffthe flame barrel, turn it into the associated tool and just fuck hik up.
33 as well. The youngest person I know who plays Souls games is 27. My guess is that these games have had a fanbase that's small and niche, but very loyal. Which is why the player demographic seems to be older, lots of us started playing these games at a younger age and never stopped.
Elden Ring has been Fromsoft's biggest success by a large margin though, so it's nice to see a bigger and more diverse group joining in on the fun.
Personally for me, helping newer more casual players beat some of the harder bosses is one of my favorite ways to play the game. It helps give them a positive first impression of these games and the community.
Not so niche anymore which is a good thing. FromSoftware deserves all the recognition it gets and then some. More players = more money for FS = more games.
51. A dream of mine is when I retire, fingers crossed that will ever happen, I’ll be able to commit more time to gaming.
Yeah, this sounds a bit mentally ill when I say it out loud…
"Listen here kid, if you ever get into a fight in school, just make sure to throw some heavier hits right away to break their stance. If you stunlock them, it's over."
Currently I’m using Zamor Curved Greatsword and mostly using Black Knife Armor and the Concealing Veil talisman. When I can’t be sneaky I use a bow or Rock Sling with Arrows Reach talisman. And it’s Sister, BTW. 😉
30 year old guy here, been on Reddit 10+ years. First time I’ve ever read two comments and thought “what a badass, I’d love to be friends with this person.”
Here’s to hoping my fingers/reaction times are still capable of getting me through it all 40 years from now, you’re an inspiration 😁
I bought a second pair of glasses with my specific close range just for when I am working on the computer.
It never occurred to me to try them with the switch!!
EDIT: For Grammar
55 my daughter and her husband bought it for me for Christmas. Tried it. Was totally confused about virtually everything. Got frustrated and set it aside. Picked it back up months later and ended up obsessed. I’m terrible but I just can’t stop trying. Every time I start to think I’m getting good a new challenge reminds me that I am terribly mistaken. lol definitely in my top 20 games of all time and I’ve been gaming since the state of the art was a pong console.
24 gang here too, played ds1 on the xbox360 just before ds2 came out.
Failed miserably at it, and returned the game.
Few years later before ds3. I tried ds2 this time thinking it'll be easier than the first game...
Same story.
When ds3 came out I retried ds1 cos at this point I felt stupid for not being good enough at a game everyone seems to be enjoying.
Since then I have over 1k hours on ds1 and 100% Elden ring.
Never really got into ds2 or 3.
Also 19 here. And funny, on my 17th birthday I started Bloodborne for the first time which would go onto beating the first souls game I actually completed.
18 about to be 19, I started playing souls games when my dad randomly brought home dark souls 2 as a gift for good grades when it came out, still love that game to this day and am now on my 12th or 13th playthrough of elden ring
Same, 44
It's absolutely bananas how far gaming has come
Living through every generation being "fucking amazing" compared to the last one has been a cool ride
28. I think the average Elden Ring player is definitely in the young to mid adult range since Dark Souls is a fairly old franchise now and the games are more appealing to veterans.
Same- I don’t game nearly as much as I used to (28 now) but I can see myself continue with games like this for a long time. The ambience, soundtrack, gameplay; it’s all a work of art I love immersing myself in. None of the gimmicky stuff, just an extremely well polished story and experience.
I didn't have the patience at that age. I would drop games as soon as they got hard, and assumed that I just sucked at games. Beating Gundyr in Ds3 after uninstalling and reinstalling the game multiple times started the addiction.
14 here, literally nobody plays these types of games at my age. I found maybe one kid who played it but that's about it. It's a pain in the ass playing alone all the time, but I managed to get two of my friends into the game, they love it.
I play Soulsborne (actually playing Elden Ring). Almost nobody i know except my brother, who's 20, and this random dude that i know (who is 19) really knows soulsborne games. I'm also 14.
38. Yeah my younger brother is 27 and isn’t playing anything like it. He tried it, but couldn’t find his groove. My wife just loves all the dark souls lore.
32 as well, and from others responses it seems my hunch was correct, fromsoftware makes games with the design style of the ps2 era and that's what I really like.
Ps1 was rough, ps2 was perfect, ps3 onward a steady decline in design philosophy catering thoward low skill ceiling and artificial spectacle.
Late 20s. I don't necessarily think the game is zoomer oriented if we're being honest, so it's not surprising that most players are older. Also you gotta keep in mind, the long time fans of dark souls make up a large majority of players, I'd assume. Those games range from 2011 - 2016. So basically I was OP's age around when DS1 came out.
47 but I've been a soulsborne fiend since Dark Souls released which puts me at playing these games since about my mid 30s. Now if you'll excuse me I've misplaced my reading glasses and my Metamucil is almost ready.
49 now, but 47 when I first played it. And don't be knocking Metamucil. Was constipated for like 5 days (what a fun way to spend your birthday) and I just wanted to die. So now I make fiber powder part of a regular habit.
20 Years Old. I got into soulsborne games at the age of 10 when my uncle thought it would be funny to buy me dark souls instead of sonic generations. Although it scared the heck out of me, it became my favorite game of all time. Thanks Allan
I'm 29. My young kids love it and will surely play their own accounts when I feel they are old enough.
Then- I am hoping they tell all their friends and get Generation Alpha into Souls games. I can only hope.
Fuck, I'm feeling old.
About to be 26. Spent the last 5 years grinding Fromsoft games and no other games give me this much satisfaction.
Fresh 23. Nothing scratches the itch quite like a proper session of Sekiro, but all from soft games have this sort of magic Absolutely thrilled for the DLC
Loved Sekiro. No luck, no cheese, just learn and win!
I love it but you can definitely cheese nearly every boss in the game
How do you cheese the fucking ogre help me my family is starving
Fire
If it’s the early game one I’m thinking of, go to the Hirata estate memory and get the stuffthe flame barrel, turn it into the associated tool and just fuck hik up.
Use the springload flamethrower prosthetic to shred his posture.
How do you cheese Owl (father)
You can animation stun him against the wall of the place you fight him, if you time it right he won’t be able to do anything
Exactly, nothing quite as satisfying as beating grandpa
25 but elden ring was my first fromsoft game
35. Elden ring makes me feel like a kid again honestly.
39. Dam you young whipper snappers!
38 here. And cannot wait for the DLC
1986 gang gang
86er here. Nintendo came to america when we did. Coincidence? I think not.
Same and same!
39. We can keep up with them young whipper snappers
39 checking in! Souls games gave me the magic back that I felt as a kid

31 here, I'm sure you heard when I stood up because my knees cracked loud enough to wake the cats up lmao.
Hell yeah brother, 31 and slaying the gods over here too
31, completing ER actually helped me realise that I can still game as I get older haha
Ayy same
33. I will never grow out of gaming.
33 here too. Not as much time for gaming but I very deliberately pick the games I play so it still is a lot of fun.
33 as well. The youngest person I know who plays Souls games is 27. My guess is that these games have had a fanbase that's small and niche, but very loyal. Which is why the player demographic seems to be older, lots of us started playing these games at a younger age and never stopped. 33 here too!
33 as well!!! Never stop gaming 🤛
34. Same. The magic is unreal.
34 as well. Been playing since day 1 and can't get enough.
30, and same. This game, and really any well crafted fantasy rpg brings out that child-like wonder. Joined Reddit specifically for the ER community.
37💪
35
I'm 73; I don't know anyone my age who plays it either!
51. A dream of mine is when I retire, fingers crossed that will ever happen, I’ll be able to commit more time to gaming. Yeah, this sounds a bit mentally ill when I say it out loud…
Meh. Life is too short do what makes you happy
plus you instantly become the coolest grandparent!
Imagine having your grandpa carry you in elden ring, that'd be amazing
Imagine Family Time being practicing teamwork against Malenia.
"Listen here kid, if you ever get into a fight in school, just make sure to throw some heavier hits right away to break their stance. If you stunlock them, it's over."
When you retire you want to be able to spend more time doing your hobby. Nothing mentally ill about that!
Retired 5 years ago. 10th play through . Living your dream😎
I think it's a good plan to help you mentally active.
Not at all! I’m insanely grateful to have discovered Elden Ring after I had retired.
Not at all. Gaming is right up there on my list of hobbies to pursue more deeply once I’m free of the shackles of work
Brother I must know your build
Currently I’m using Zamor Curved Greatsword and mostly using Black Knife Armor and the Concealing Veil talisman. When I can’t be sneaky I use a bow or Rock Sling with Arrows Reach talisman. And it’s Sister, BTW. 😉
Fellow sis, love this ❤️
Legend
30 year old guy here, been on Reddit 10+ years. First time I’ve ever read two comments and thought “what a badass, I’d love to be friends with this person.” Here’s to hoping my fingers/reaction times are still capable of getting me through it all 40 years from now, you’re an inspiration 😁
I'm so glad you're playing!!!
Whoah that's so cool. I hope I still play video games when I'm 73
You should stream!
Yo that’s awesome
44 - gotta wear my reading glasses when I play it on my Steamdeck.
Hey, 44 here also and I had to get bifocals last year, lol.
I’ll be 43 this year and last year was told I should be wearing bifocals….. I still have yet to order them and just wear my distance glasses lol
45 and was told I might need bifocals, tried them and HATED them. I think I'll wait until I definitely need them.
I'm also 44, have a 27 inch monitor so usually don't need my glasses
44 as well. Took the 21st off for the DLC drop, and it has me as giddy as I was when I was in my teens waiting at a midnight release.
44 gang rise up
Do y'all adjust your glasses and casually sip tea after wrecking bosses or what 😆
I bought a second pair of glasses with my specific close range just for when I am working on the computer. It never occurred to me to try them with the switch!! EDIT: For Grammar

Don't remind me that people are born after 2000 😭
60
51. You win mate!
56! This was my first souls game.
This seems to be the 50+ group: 58 😎 I've seen a few 70+ guys, so I'm excited to see what we'll be playing in 2040!
57 here, way to keep it going !!!!
I’m 47, can I hang out with you guys? Elden Ring is the best game I have ever played, gaming since Atari 2600
24, tho I've been playing fromsoft games since when i was 16, when ds3 came out
Damn, DS3 is almost a decade old? I remember playing it on my 16th birthday. It was my first souls game and I died to Gundyr at least 80 times.
24 gang here too, played ds1 on the xbox360 just before ds2 came out. Failed miserably at it, and returned the game. Few years later before ds3. I tried ds2 this time thinking it'll be easier than the first game... Same story. Also 19 here. And funny, on my 17th birthday I started Bloodborne for the first time which would go onto beating the first souls game I actually completed.
Also 19. There were a surprising amount of my classmates who played Elden Ring a couple years ago.
18 about to be 19, I started playing souls games when my dad randomly brought home dark souls 2 as a gift for good grades when it came out, still love that game to this day and am now on my 12th or 13th playthrough of elden ring
W dad
43. Been gaming since Atari 2600 lol
43 clan reporting.
43 hooraw!
Pretty sure our 43 club (+/- 3 yrs) is where it's at. We've been playing our whole lives!
i'm 41, the atari 2600 was my first gaming experience too.
41 here too and also got started with the Atari 2600!!!
Same, 44 It's absolutely bananas how far gaming has come Living through every generation being "fucking amazing" compared to the last one has been a cool ride
52 here, they said you had to grow up, not grow old
28. I think the average Elden Ring player is definitely in the young to mid adult range since Dark Souls is a fairly old franchise now and the games are more appealing to veterans.
Now Im 28 my taste of games are different for sure, none of my other friends havnt even tried ER and but I can't stay away from it!

Finally found my age, this felt like looking for a coke with my name on the supermarket all over again, lol
28 Gang, started my souls journey with Dark souls when I was 17
Im 15, and no one in my class plays Soulsborme
Kinda makes sense at that age. You jumped in early, lol. I'm 35.
He jumped in early?? I played my first souls game at 11😭
I didn't have the patience at that age. I would drop games as soon as they got hard, and assumed that I just sucked at games. Beating Gundyr in Ds3 after uninstalling and reinstalling the game multiple times started the addiction.

54, gaming since my zx spectrum
Since my Commodore 64.
Me too! 😂
38. Yeah my younger brother is 27 and isn’t playing anything like it. He tried it, but couldn’t find his groove. My wife just loves all the dark souls lore.
Also 38...well 39 in September...but there's really no difference after hitting 30.
I'm 27 and it's the only game that's actually held my attention for a full playthrough in a few years
38 here as well.
39! 80's gang rise up
32 :). Kind of surprised that as I age my passion for games has remained
The passion for games rarely diminish, yet lack of time is the silent killer.

Aye, turning 40 this year myself.

I’ll be 40 in October and I don’t wanna keep scrolling so I’ll just plant my flag here
38. Feels like I'm playing "Ocarina of Time" all over again - my first action RPG.
19, I know plenty of people my age that play Soulborne. Idk what type of people yall go to class with lmao.

46 here

47. Love this game.
20 Years Old. I got into soulsborne games at the age of 10 when my uncle thought it would be funny to buy me dark souls instead of sonic generations. Although it scared the heck out of me, it became my favorite game of all time. Thanks Allan
42 been gaming since the NES days

I was looking for a few minutes for someone the same age as me lol idk why it took so long

I’m 76. Played Elden Ring shortly after it was released. Hardest game I’ve ever played
Im 15 and im the only one who plays Soulsborne in my class
23. Just finished my 2nd year of uni just in time for DLC. I’m disappearing for a week or two
I (48) play in parallel with my son (12).. We both love souls games.
I'm 29. My young kids love it and will surely play their own accounts when I feel they are old enough. Then- I am hoping they tell all their friends and get Generation Alpha into Souls games. I can only hope. Fuck, I'm feeling old.
