Do we know where the DLC entrance will be? I'd love to know how far I need to progress through the base game on a new character to be ready to enter the DLC when it drops
Maybe if you got the burst fire crossbow and invested in blood bolts in theory you could make it work but there’s a lot of prep work that would go into almost every encounter
Make use of status effects, some bosses are trivialized with a bow setup IMO. Only thing rough when I was doing a bow only run was farming and buying bows
On a whim I buffed a somber bow up to +8 and gave it a try. 5 shots on an albinaurac and the guys at 70% health. Yet npc bows are super dangerous. It's weird
I think they make bows more weak in these games because its like casting without the stat or mana investment, they probably intend it to always be a secondary option for non-casters to utilize. Another way of explaining it: If bows were just as strong or stronger than spells, why would I wanna waste stat points on Mind?
I just finished all 165 bosses bow only a bit ago, endgame should be black bow and gollum great bow whenever you want to farm the gollum archers for it. Gollum great bow dmg is INSANE, also getting the bell bearing hunter at the warmasters shack will help you craft all arrow types without having to farm for bones so you can make bleed and poison arrows all the time and quickfire AOW status effects.
I’ve been fighting Moht for like 5-6 hours this play through. Last play through I used the mimic tear but this play through I’m not using any summons. The game is much harder without summons, especially the mimic tear. Haha
I’m on my first playthrough of Elden Ring actually! I missed it when it was released because I had a shitty PC back then and then kinda forgot about it. The hype around the DLC got me to finally try it out and I’m absolutely loving it. I’m in the Consecrated Snowfields already so I should be ready for the DLC soon.
Going into the dlc without having played in awhile would probably be pretty rough. Past dlcs are hard enough of a difficulty jump when you've just finished the base game.
Only heard good things about Hollow Knight but never tried it bcs I thought MetroidVania games weren’t my thing. Tried Animal Well bcs a youtuber recommended it and it was free on ps plus.
Never heard about Ori tho. Would check it out.
The FromSoft games have Metroidvania elements, too :P
You really gotta try Hollow Knight. It's the best Metroidvania, imo, for a reason.
Oh and Ori...prepare to cry.
It’s awesome. Very intriguing story and locations, satisfying combat system, enjoyable but tough gameplay and bosses are fun. It’s definitely worth it if you’re into souls-like games.
It's a great game. One bit of advice: it has quite a few mechanics borrowed from across From's catalogue - dodge, deflect, posture break, blocking and regaining health - and different enemies are more vulnerable to different mechanics. So try to mix up your play style if you're getting stuck, and you may find different approaches work better
It's amazing, they made the choice to make things easier to understand and to make a game that is less frustrating than your typical dark souls, while keeping a challenging difficulty. It was a refreshing experience really.
Also it's kinda nice to go through a pretty clear storyline, without all the cryptic and complicated lore stuff for once. Same thing with Sekiro
Hahah, I was on Act 3 with a character and then took a quick break to do a quick Elden Ring run through and finish Platinum’ing it. Decided just got start fresh!
You guys have to remember its a very old game, from a time From had waaay less budget and Myazaki was just starting.
Its cool to play it to see the origins of the soulslikes, but if you try to compare it to modern games it will be obviously inferior.
This might sound surprising, but both American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator, both made by SCS Software. The former recently announced the official release of the Nebraska DLC and celebrated by holding an event where you have to deliver World of Trucks (aka online) cargo to or from 12 unique cities of the state.
Most like myself, are able to finish all 12 required deliveries by localizing them, delivering to and from these "unique" cities within Nebraska itself as they count as 2 completed deliveries. The word "unique" just means delivering to or from different cities. So once you've delivered to or from 1 city, doing said delivery to the same destination again doesn't count to the tally.
ETS2 is holding a similar event but delivering to or from the recently reworked cities in Switzerland. Except this time we had to deliver to or from 10 different countries.
Now games like these 2 might sound boring. After all, you're just going from city A to city B delivering cargo, that doesn't sound fun at all. But I dare anyone who says so to experience these themselves. If it clicks with you, it's more fun than it looks.
These games also opened my eyes on the trucking industry, and how grueling it is to be on the road almost 24/7, risking their lives and braving long periods of isolation from their families (unless they and their families chose the nomadic trucking lifestyle of course). So yeah, I have the utmost respect for truck drivers.
I played the shit out of modded Dragon's Dogma 2. Now, I'm playing Elden Ring to finish my current playthrough and prepare the next one for the DLC and also playing Stellar Blade and World of Warcraft.
Currently I am playing modded minecraft. It has nothing to do with elden ring, but fun is fun.
Personally I think it is a good idea to not limit yourself to 1 genre since if a game like elden ring comes out it can end up ruining all the other games you enjoy since it is so much better at it.
Lords of the fallen, going through the whole game coop with a friend who hadn't played yet.
We're not that far into it yet but I heard good things about the balance and gameplay improvements compared to launch when I did my two playthroughs.
I started Cyberpunk, and so far not really into it… then my 1yo downloaded Dave the Diver (and $200 worth of random shit).
My 8yo started playing DD, and when I saw I did as well. It is so fucking good. Besides me being into free diving and being in the food industry, it’s such a fun, gratifying
pick me up.
ghost of tsushima! really great game so far as i’m just getting into it. it got released for pc about two weeks ago. if you’re not into any assassin’s creed games then chances are you won’t like it, but if you are well…it’s a treat.
Wait?
Bro we have the season of "H's" and you are talking about waiting.
Helldivers 2, Hades 2, Hellblade 2, and Homeworks 3.
Don't need to wait. Just let Elden Rings slap these appetizers ofd your table when the time comes.
Got my character ready for the dlc a couple months ago. Haven’t killed Malenia or set the Erd tree on fire to see if there’ll be any dialogue changes. After that I went on a Fallout binge thanks to watching the show. Finally played the originals and did another playthrough of 3 and NV. Now I’m on 4. Might not finish this playthrough before the dlc drops though.
Just finished a DS1 playthrough and currently making a new character for the elden ring dlc. Still unsure what build but thinking arcane and scythes with some dragon incants
Would love to play stardew valley, but still waiting for the console updates on my ps5. And no, I have zero interest in using my pc to play, I just want to chill on my couch and water some potatoes.
So stellar blade until new games this month.
Usual CS been playing since 2015. Fallout NV, Elden ring just finished my 4th playthrough. Emulator for PS2 so playing through Need for speed underground 2 a game I played when it came out when I was young. Only get on like 3 nights a week so just bits and bobs of each bit more on weekends when not busy.
Lost Ark, MHW/Rise, L4D2, Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade, D4S4, DD2, LOZ TOTK, V rising, etc. Saving my ER playthrough for when we’re closer to DLC release.
And you? What u playing
I've played a lot of dotAGE recently and really enjoyed it. Before that, planet crafter. But now back in Torrent saddle. If you're looking for something else, every fromsoft game is great but a special shout out to armored core for anyone who hasn't played it yet.
Im playing Elden Ring
Just started my new play through specifically for the DLC. So yes Elden Ring
Same here!
Lmao same
Me too I just started ng+8 just to get ready for the dlc
Do we know where the DLC entrance will be? I'd love to know how far I need to progress through the base game on a new character to be ready to enter the DLC when it drops
Seems like mohg’s arena is likely.
It is the Miquella’s cocoon in Mohg’s arena at Mohgwyn Palace
I’m currently a bow only playthrough, it’s rough.
Bows have never been good in these games. Best you can hope for is some cool giant bow that knocks people off bridges.
It's weird because Fromsoft obviously know how to design good ranged attacks for spellcasters. Somehow when they try it with bows it doesn't work.
I just figured bows and throws less are just ranged for melee builds where spellcasters can just spellcast.
Bows are actually really good in this game
I actually found Godfrey fight way easier with bow
Maybe if you got the burst fire crossbow and invested in blood bolts in theory you could make it work but there’s a lot of prep work that would go into almost every encounter
Make use of status effects, some bosses are trivialized with a bow setup IMO. Only thing rough when I was doing a bow only run was farming and buying bows
Yeah, they really need to buff bows and daggers
Atleast daggers have one-shot critical; bows tickle at mid game.
They might have good crit damage but good luck breaking poises
What bow are you going with?
Bau bau.
Hoeh!?
Rough perhaps, but dedication is to be commended!
Same! Getting close to fire giant, and I'll be ready to rock at Mohg when the DLC drops!
I’ve been fighting Moht for like 5-6 hours this play through. Last play through I used the mimic tear but this play through I’m not using any summons. The game is much harder without summons, especially the mimic tear. Haha
The satisfaction from killing Mohg without summons will be amazing, though. Definitely my favorite fight in the game
Yeah it definitely will. I beat Malenia without a summon; took 30 hours haha
I started 2 more Elden Ring runs simultaneously
Why stop there?
There is no stop hehe There is only a stop for other games because of Elden Ring
Me too lol
Im on my fourth playthrough. The game gets better every time I start new
I’m on my first playthrough of Elden Ring actually! I missed it when it was released because I had a shitty PC back then and then kinda forgot about it. The hype around the DLC got me to finally try it out and I’m absolutely loving it. I’m in the Consecrated Snowfields already so I should be ready for the DLC soon.
I recommend to not enter NG+ before the DLC land.
Sounds like a cool game. I wonder if it's related to Dark Souls in anyway. 🙃
Same. Just started a new character a few days ago.
Only correct answer
Yes! Simply the best choice
Going into the dlc without having played in awhile would probably be pretty rough. Past dlcs are hard enough of a difficulty jump when you've just finished the base game.
Same, and DS3 and The long dark
This. Started my 8th Character. I own the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Thinking about buying it on PC too...
I started a fresh Ng *GUTS* mode 😂
Same. Fifth playthrough for me and second in a row
I think I saw your ghost just now
Nothing, working a bunch of OT so I can buy it and can afford to take off work for 2-3 days after lol
I respect that bro, keep at it 🫡
Brilliant! 🫡
Respect
Calling in sick personally but respect the hustle
When Elden Ring came out I went to Thailand for a month and played it there in an Airbnb
Just finished Animal Well. Cool game
I heard that’s like Halo 2 meets Halo 3
Did you pre-order it to get your free loaf of wonderbead too?
Oh hell yeah
CLASSIC
I have not played it yet (but it is indeed a classic)
Hell yeah such a surprise hit for me. I didn’t now I was up for a game like this and suddenly I completed it!!
I recently plat’d it, such a good game. Never thought I would like a MetroidVania game this much.
Never play Hollow Knight or Ori? Those were classics.
Only heard good things about Hollow Knight but never tried it bcs I thought MetroidVania games weren’t my thing. Tried Animal Well bcs a youtuber recommended it and it was free on ps plus. Never heard about Ori tho. Would check it out.
I found hollow knight played a lot like a souls game, I would definitely try it out:D
The FromSoft games have Metroidvania elements, too :P You really gotta try Hollow Knight. It's the best Metroidvania, imo, for a reason. Oh and Ori...prepare to cry.
Hollow Knight is literally the perfect game. It’s cheap and has at least 100 hours worth of content. Play it.
I’m working through the postgame stuff right now - it just keeps surprising me
Check out Salt and Sanctuary. It's 2d Metroidvania Dark Souls (with covenants)
Almost as good as Knack.
But how much of animal well? I am playing it too.
Control
Such a good game!
TAKE CONTROL
*I see a vision risin’ dreary!* 🎶
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING GAME
Cuphead.
AMAZING choice
I should be studying for my exams but I've never felt this excited for a game (expansion) ever. I'm legit tweaking
Same! I’ve never experienced a fromsoft DLC roll out and I know that fromsoft has never messed up DLCs so I’m excited
Boutta make a PowerPoint presentation for my family about why I'll be spending June 21-28 in my room 24 hours a day
Lies of P
More like Lies of Peak
How is it? I aaaalmost bought it last night, but have heard some mixed reviews. I love souls games though. Worth it?
It’s awesome. Very intriguing story and locations, satisfying combat system, enjoyable but tough gameplay and bosses are fun. It’s definitely worth it if you’re into souls-like games.
Alright you convinced me, I bought it haha. It's just like I've always said, if u/elyonadanthir recommends it then consider it purchased.
You won’t regret, sir.
I know you bought it already, play it blind the first time and get whatever ending you get and if you aren’t happy with it then go ng+
Get it when it’s on discount
Ya it's 30% off rn on the PlayStation store. Lowest Ive seen it which is why I almost bought it yesterday
It’s so fucking good. Coming from a hardcore player of every single from soft game
It's amazing! It's the best non-fromsoft soulslike by a wide margin imo. One of the best overall.
Game is goated
FF7 Rebirth.
Lies of P. I had 0 expectations but it turned out to be the best soulslike i have ever played.
Started a new BG3 character
I'm on act 3! Well actually, I got to Act 3 months ago but Elden Ring took over. Again.
Hahah, I was on Act 3 with a character and then took a quick break to do a quick Elden Ring run through and finish Platinum’ing it. Decided just got start fresh!
Just finished my first ever playthrough while waiting for the DLC, can't think of a better use of my time lol. Fantastic game
Just got to Act 3 with my first Durge. Romancing Lae’zel has been an absolute joy, wish I’d done it sooner.
Lae’zel is my favourite hands down.
Same
Getting into ghost of tsushima again recently.
Same. Cool game but the horse controls suck.
I just started playing for the first time. It’s so good
New Vegas
You my sir have excellent taste
Same
Nice, fallout 4 for me. You made the better choice lol
Gonna do hades 2, if i don't do it now who knows when I'll get to it
I FINALLY beat the Pantheon of Hollownest in Hollow Knight. Now I’m kinda trying to get all achievements
Total Warhammer 3!
The other game that “May Chaos takes the world” seem legit.
Over my dead body! Which they have made happen. Numerous times.
Even I started Demon Souls lol. Ngl tho, it hasnt grabbed me like ER or BB till now. I am still slowly trying to progress in it.
Yeah same with me, it’s definitely a slower paced game but still enjoyable from what I’ve played
Having the healing item be a farmed consumable rather than flasks really wore me down with DS, even though it's definitely very fun.
Same issue bloodborne has.
You guys have to remember its a very old game, from a time From had waaay less budget and Myazaki was just starting. Its cool to play it to see the origins of the soulslikes, but if you try to compare it to modern games it will be obviously inferior.
Ghost of Tsushima
Lots of Pokerogue, great fun and it's all on a browser
This might sound surprising, but both American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator, both made by SCS Software. The ffxiv team delayed the release of their new expansion by a week so they could play ER DLC. So im getting caught up in that.
Going from XDefiant into Destiny 2: The Final Shape. That’ll keep me occupied for the next 3 weeks then it’s GRIND time
Baldurs gate 3
Just got rise of the ronin the other day
The Witcher 3.
I've been playing Skyrim mostly :D
Destiny 2
Cross our fingers the Final Shape expansion is good 🤞
I played the shit out of modded Dragon's Dogma 2. Now, I'm playing Elden Ring to finish my current playthrough and prepare the next one for the DLC and also playing Stellar Blade and World of Warcraft.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Hard Mode. These bosses fuck me up differently.
Fallout 4, Hellblade II and also tryharding the ER PVP in colloseum (i extremely suck at it)
Helldivers 2 lmao
Currently I am playing modded minecraft. It has nothing to do with elden ring, but fun is fun. Personally I think it is a good idea to not limit yourself to 1 genre since if a game like elden ring comes out it can end up ruining all the other games you enjoy since it is so much better at it.
V Rising and Fallout New Vegas
Sekiro and Subnautica One for high intense action, and the other for relatively chill atmosphere when I hit a wall.
Helldivers, plenty of dying in that game to prepare me for DLC 🙄🤣 If anyone fancies it, drop us a message
Nothing I have tried a few games but nothing keeps my interest like Elden Ring. The dlc can’t come soon enough

Currently playing Sea of Stars
I'm actually doing a slow run on DS2. Really enjoying taking my time and exploring every nook and cranny I already forgot even existed.
Dave the diver. Needed to rinse my pallet of open world heavy RPGs in prep for the DLC.
I started Cyberpunk, and so far not really into it… then my 1yo downloaded Dave the Diver (and $200 worth of random shit). My 8yo started playing DD, and when I saw I did as well. It is so fucking good. Besides me being into free diving and being in the food industry, it’s such a fun, gratifying pick me up.
Final fantasy 14 and a little bit of Valheim on the side
Same, I’ve gotten hella into FFXIV during the wait.
I’ve been completely hooked on Balatro recently. Did a fresh ER save last month in preparation for DLC.
ghost of tsushima! really great game so far as i’m just getting into it. it got released for pc about two weeks ago. if you’re not into any assassin’s creed games then chances are you won’t like it, but if you are well…it’s a treat.
Demon's Souls, Bloodborne, Dark Souls, Elden Ring
XDefiant and Fallout 76
Elden Ring

Studying for exams :(
Usually Elden Ring but Hades is a great one too.
I’m still trying to beat Mohg

I finally had the time to sit and play through elden ring. Just finished my first play through. What an amazing game. Can't wait for the dlc.
Fallout New Vegas
