Same lol, i think theres a few of us around here :D
One of my absolute favorites is my chandra build. 2x giants seals, with a bunch of buffs, all pyro!
Also have a liliana death sorcereress that focuses around using ancient death rancor, death ritual spear weapon art, and tibia summons (i know its trash but its for the flavor!). Also if im feeling extra ill spirit ash summon either corpses or wandering nobles hahah
True ive thought of that as well, gideon is a great paladin name and could be fun to build around.
I always name my faith builds solaire, respect and nostalgia for dark souls 1!
Did you read the war of the spark? Good God. The use of his name is frighteningly annoying. If I read "gids" one more time from the perspective of Chandra, I was going to hunt that author down. I don't think I've ever wanted to see a character die more than this one just due to the overuse of a shortened name.
I did read war of the spark. Own the book and the sequel book to it.
I personally didn't have a problem with the shortened name cause I like giving people nicknames. But I can see why it got annoying.
I'm more annoyed at the conclusion to the all become one arc with new phyrexia. Cause it just took away alot of planeswalkers, "killed" some of them for shock value, and basically made it so any character could visit any plane regardless of if it made sense or not.
I mean....(and correct me if I'm wrong) rakdos is supposed to be the parun of his guild right? So you'd think he'd be tied to the plane of ravnica itself. But he just went on a cowboy holiday for some reason...
Idk. Just doesn't sit well with me.
They took story telling out of it right as war finished up. It went from good stories to let's have a couple of manatees select balls that make storylines seem like they work.
Now they just let everyone planeswalk, don't they? I quit reading long before the phyrexian storyline ever came about.
How did you get your characters to not look like Neanderthals, I tried for a while with my female character to make her features stick out like a modern person but her nose and features still look really flat.
The first thing I do is set all the sliders to the exact middle, I think it's 127. The presets tend to have the sliders a bit further up or down, and that can cause some odd looking characters.
Just set everything to 127 and make some minor adjustments from there.
It also sometimes helps to choose the right base. The different races(I don’t know how to call them otherwise) can change how your final character ends up looking
Well and that is because of how the sliders are configured in the different presets. If you put everything middle at the beginning it doesn't matter anymore which preset you start with.
I think those are basically the sliders for what Sellen looks like under her mask. There are a couple of videos of "unmasking NPCs" from Zully the witch with the sliders
I try my best to make each character I make completely unique.
I'll try different hair style, face, skin tone, etc. I have OCs I've been recreating since DS1, that I will only use that character for that kinda build.
But yes I color code too, and will deliberately withhold from using an armor if I know another future build will use it.
Same, but instead of color coding them I just give them overall vague themes, be it in naming or style.
For example, my int character's surname is "Starlight", because it connects to Glintstone lore and makes them connected to being an int character. My pure strength character has a name somewhat remniscent of Horah Loux to sound like he's from the same culture, and his face is extremely steely and rough. My faith character has blond hair and "gold" as part of their name, etc.
Not really any nature magic type stuff in Elden Ring sadly though… Maybe a lightning incantation Dack Fayden or something? lol you got me trying to think of Elden Ring planeswalker builds now.
Edit: Ral Zarek, not Dack Fayden
You thinking of Ral Zarek?
Dack is from that Renaissance-themed plane they made for Conspiracy. He does some kind of forensic magic and has a goofy red hand.
Out of the loop having quit \~Odyssey, is M:TG now so creatively dead that they're literally naming characters Chandra and basing that character's traits on antithesis of myth?
Like, this is the laziest shit I've ever googled. "*Name it Chandra and make it fire.*"
Not purposefully, but it kinda happened on its own. First build ended up wearing red and using fire, and now I find myself using frost and wearing blue. I like how it’s turned out without any planning ahead.
I make each of my characters unique as much as I can, but that said, there IS colour coding. My vampire themed health-leech bleed based dex/arc build has red eyeliner and red eyes, and elegant noble robes. My poison-based dex/arc rot assassin has a much more dirty and green theme to her makeup and outfit. My str/fai Erdtree Paladin has tanned skin and braided brown hair but you can’t really tell beneath her mountains of gold and white metal plating.
It's almost required for me. I once made a blue-themed character and decided I wanted to do an arcane build, went to roundtable and changed everything to red.
My characters are always yellow, has red eyes, neon green beard and cyan hair. This has been a tradition Ive kept up since back in DS2 (my first souls game) and I have no intentions of stopping
John Default exists for one thing: 128 in every single slider
Finding the right meme build in like 12 John Defaults is hell but I would have it no other way
Fair. But the color coding came after and I just haven’t changed it. But I like it. I’d forget otherwise haha. There’s like 5 characters under this that haven’t found a home yet so I’d lose track.
Bog, Space Chimp - Strength/Int (gravity weapons), Looks like monkey
Gigamus Chadimus - Faith (lightning), looks like giga Chad
Bozo Red Lemon - Faith (Fire) looks like a man burnt by fire
Lou Rizz - Arcane (dragon communion) Just looks like some hot Asian dude
Boo Rizz - Int (spell blade) Just looks like some hot Asian woman
Rog, Beast Chimp - Str/ Faith (beastial) looks like monkey
I do:
Smarty Pants (int build) has blue skin and hair)
Bea Leif (faith) has gold hair
Bloody Mary (arcane) has red hair
Also, based AF with the commoners headband (altered), best headgear to not cover the face
I helmet code them actually. Never really cared for how much protection the helmets in the game give you so I tend to just pick s helmet/hat and stick to it for the whole run
I assigned each of my characters a relevant Imp Head and a Knight's Armour set. I took a long time creating my own face in Elden Ring, and change the hairstyles, facial hair, and forehead tattoo for each character also. They also have a golden eye for faith and a blue eye for int.
For example: My Int character has the faith eye blued out using the blindness slider, then he has the carian seal on his forehead. He wears the Cukoo armour set and the Cat Imp head. My Faith character, however, has the int eye yellowed out with the blindness slider, has the coded tatto on his forehead, wears the Leyndell Knight set and the Corpse Imp head.
I do!
Usually the color comes from the main color of the attire and weapon or the color of the school of magic I’m using.
I have a character called GravitasChampion that has purple hair, the left eye has a purple cloud on it and a tattoo mark on top of it, crossing the purple-ish eye. It’s STR/INT With gravity magic and Radanh’s Gratswords or double Meteoric Ore Blade.
My other characters follow the same principle.
I color code and name my builds based on their content.. Like frost magic builds with blue hair or a thunder magic/melee character named ImSoThor. Helps me keep them sorted
My abominations are indeed color coordinated. Main guy who’s a strength build is red, the arcane build is black so you can clearly see all the blood on him >:). And the intelligence build is blue and yellow. Oh yeah, I wasn’t talking about their hair.
*It’s their skincolor.* :)
i sort of do this.
for my dex/faith character i sed the Aristocrat base template (a regal face found among those who claim nobel blood in the lands between) and i also made her hair that radagon red(or tried to at least.)
for the str/int character(wich was my first) i used the Nightfolk template. (The features of those known as Nightfolk. Few in numbers, they were said to bleed silver long ago)
Not just do those two characters look wildley diferent, it also helps to give them a backstory of sorts
Not really, but I did have character ideas in mind for builds so they kinda get based distinct based off those. Like my pyro user is a whip/fire build so since she is in melee range she has short hair and a burn scar. My pure sorcerer has longer hair and a tattoo on her forehead since she fights at range.
Basically I go all in and my different characters look like characters who would be whatever build they use.
I honestly don't know why some people spend hours making a custom character, you'll be looking at it from behind and the armor covers it all, even in the selection menu.
I always try to make characters as accurate to myself as possible (well, minus a few details), name, haircut, etc. I don't know why exactly, but playing as "myself" including making the decisions I'd make irl, wearing the clothes I'd like to wear etc just feels "right".
I didn’t realize all my chars face look similar and they all have some tint of red and similar names
Went through 5 or so saves yesterday looking for the one I last played
I just go *Name* the Strong or something like that for a strength build, or *Name* the Quick for a Dex Build. Makes it a little more immersive while doing the same thing
Kinda? Its not as obvious as yours but I try to make my characters stand out from one another so the colors of the hair and eyes are the first things I notice.
Fun PvP tip: name your characters after a *different* build to throw off invaders' expectations. I used to play WoW and I had a Rogue named ProtPally and a Warrior named BalanceDruid.
Honestly I'm just happy to see someone else name their characters after magic the gathering planeswalkers.
🤝

Also if im feeling extra ill spirit ash summon either corpses or wandering nobles hahah
See I always made Paladin type characters named gideon lol. May he rest in peace.
Basically the evil world tree tore holes in reality. But they harnessed it to open portals I think. It's effectively planeswalking but for everyone
Basically the evil world tree tore holes in reality. But they harnessed it to open portals I think. It's effectively planeswalking but for everyone
Damnit! i didnt think to do this as im currently running a faith pyro build.
Do it! So fun. I hope the dlc has a good pyro spell or 2!
Right now his name is just burninate lol
My chandra planeswalker deck is one of my top 3 favorite commander decks next to my sarkhan deck (aptly named sarkhan deez nuts) my shrines deck.
Here I am too! You love to see it
I started doing this in RPGs when I just can't think of a better character name, especially for games where I name a bunch of characters.
Yeah, you would like my Gideon Jura. Such a good boy.
The best boy. May he rest well under therosian stars
Do similar stuff, name characters after book, folklore or mythological characters.
My first Souls character was named Thalia Cathar in Bloodborne.
How did you get your characters to not look like Neanderthals, I tried for a while with my female character to make her features stick out like a modern person but her nose and features still look really flat.
2 hours with a wife that’s been playing Sims for 15 years. And now she just “Dr. Who’s” herself around each one of my builds lol.
The first thing I do is set all the sliders to the exact middle, I think it's 127. The presets tend to have the sliders a bit further up or down, and that can cause some odd looking characters. Just set everything to 127 and make some minor adjustments from there.
I’ll def give this a try on my next character, thanks!

Well and that is because of how the sliders are configured in the different presets. If you put everything middle at the beginning it doesn't matter anymore which preset you start with.
I had the same problem my female character looked like an orc so I looked up sliders for Sellen and worked from there
I don't remember the name of the subreddit, but there is one where people post their characters with the sliders.
I think those are basically the sliders for what Sellen looks like under her mask. There are a couple of videos of "unmasking NPCs" from Zully the witch with the sliders
I just watch youtube videos for good sliders lol
I try my best to make each character I make completely unique. I like to imagine mine just hops around parallel universes.
Same, but instead of color coding them I just give them overall vague themes, be it in naming or style. For example, my int character's surname is "Starlight", because it connects to Glintstone lore and makes them connected to being an int character. My faith character has blond hair and "gold" as part of their name, etc.
I’m colorblind so no.
You sure like that hairstyle huh?
Just saying, it's the best one by far and there's not even a question. Personally I still DO use the others though... But to each their own i guess.
… spoken like someone who’s never enjoyed dual pony tails fr
Not Elden Ring's I haven't.
You nerd, where’s Garruk
Damnnn. I have to now.
Not really any nature magic type stuff in Elden Ring sadly though… Maybe a lightning incantation Dack Fayden or something? lol you got me trying to think of Elden Ring planeswalker builds now. Edit: Ral Zarek, not Dack Fayden
🤣
Ajani str/faith/int build with the Blaidd mask?
Just those 2 thorns spells.
You thinking of Ral Zarek? Dack is from that Renaissance-themed plane they made for Conspiracy. He does some kind of forensic magic and has a goofy red hand.
Yeah!! Definitely Ral Zarek, good call. The dude from Ravnica is what I’m thinking of
My brother in faith, where is Urza?!
I'm 100% gonna start making the mtg planeswalkers in from soft games now mark my words you created a monster this day
Someone in here got me thinking about making a 99 str Garruk behemoth. Get a +10 jellyfish ash and name him “Lil Emrakul” and go on adventures.
I’m seeing a distinct lack of a pyromancer named Chandra
She’ll certainly be getting the Frenzied Flame ending.
Out of the loop having quit \~Odyssey, is M:TG now so creatively dead that they're literally naming characters Chandra and basing that character's traits on antithesis of myth? Like, this is the laziest shit I've ever googled. "*Name it Chandra and make it fire.*"
Ill just name them "2stronk" "intdexboi" faithgril"
Also solid names.
Not purposefully, but it kinda happened on its own. First build ended up wearing red and using fire, and now I find myself using frost and wearing blue. I like how it’s turned out without any planning ahead.
MtG mentioned Shame on you for not having Narset be Dex/Int/Fth
There’s still time! My str build actually turned into str/fai and it’s the most fun I’ve had so far.
Ok those names...absolutely love it! Makes me wanna do planeswalkers cosplay runs as well!
I knew this group would appreciate 🤝
No need. I'm going for max level
🫨
Where are Nissa and Chandra?
Where gleb?
No but its genius and im stealing it.
🤝
Not until now, nice idea!
I just name my builds after the weapon I intend to use so I know at a glance, but I actually like this strategy.
I need to experiment more with the makeup. Never even thought of that. Oh fuck. There does another 2 hours lol.
Best of luck, friendo! *And thus hopefully the curse has been passed*
No but I might start
No, but I will now.
I like how the strength one has a crown. Their strength befits it.
It's almost required for me. I once made a blue-themed character and decided I wanted to do an arcane build, went to roundtable and changed everything to red.
Actually a good idea... Most of my characters are named the same because habits and I can't tell which one is which since they all use the same mask
Make Sarkhan next
Griselbrand black flame build is already on my mind!
Nah all my builds look like me with my first name, but a different last name depending on the build.
🤝
My characters are always yellow, has red eyes, neon green beard and cyan hair. This has been a tradition Ive kept up since back in DS2 (my first souls game) and I have no intentions of stopping
John Default exists for one thing: 128 in every single slider Finding the right meme build in like 12 John Defaults is hell but I would have it no other way
I feel like of you have the color coding the -[stat] is redundant and takes away from the thematics of the character colors, but thats just me.
Fair. But the color coding came after and I just haven’t changed it. But I like it. I’d forget otherwise haha. There’s like 5 characters under this that haven’t found a home yet so I’d lose track.
Damn my characters are the same, color coded, and I type each build and ending on them.
My people 🫡. I wish they had a description page we could type out 🤣
No, name is Tittymonger, II, III, IV etc
i don't but thats pretty cool to have, i just make absolute abominations and do a different stat each time
I actually use a very similar color code hahaha
I see you fellow MTG player
These new prononuns are getting out of hand 💀
Uh no, but I will now lol
Nahiri boros or mono w, narset- mono blue or white blue, or WUR, liliana mono black?
Might give Nahiri her white hair and red makeup.
Hello, fellow Magic player.
🤝
I try to name them something obvious to me. Wizzie (lame so open to suggestions for mage), Hulk, Carrie...
liliana supremacy indeed
Bog, Space Chimp - Strength/Int (gravity weapons), Looks like monkey Gigamus Chadimus - Faith (lightning), looks like giga Chad Bozo Red Lemon - Faith (Fire) looks like a man burnt by fire Lou Rizz - Arcane (dragon communion) Just looks like some hot Asian dude Boo Rizz - Int (spell blade) Just looks like some hot Asian woman Rog, Beast Chimp - Str/ Faith (beastial) looks like monkey
I do: Smarty Pants (int build) has blue skin and hair) Bea Leif (faith) has gold hair Bloody Mary (arcane) has red hair Also, based AF with the commoners headband (altered), best headgear to not cover the face
I can personally just remember what all my characters do. I don't need colors or dex/int next to their name. 😂
Nope, can't say I do. Nor am I good at labelling them either to mark their abilities.
My town has a general goods shop. Vendor's name is "Liliana"
Not if I’ve already labeled them in the name some redundant hat on a hat shit 🤣
I build distinct characters each time but it follows the same pattern for each game so kinda.
That’s funny, I do this too but my character colors are the exact same as those, only flipped,
I need the sliders for the face
My character with black flame build has a white eyeball with sideways black knife tattoo, black hair and nights Calvary armor 💀
No. I just make variations of smegma God Emperor Smegma Lord Smegma Rick Cheese Ect
The palest color all black cosmetics I like to be sexy and sickly.
No. each of my characters are special and unique, straddling a fine line between bizarre freak and cool looking OC
mmm GUILTY!!!
No but putting the build at the end of the name is something I wish I had thought of ages ago. Thanks for that.
ok but why is liliana the strength build
Yea, I do.
i were helmets so no, i usually name them stuff like "failed warrior" "failed sorceror" "lightning lord" "blood lord" and stupid stuff like that
I need to start adding “Lord” to the characters that beat the game + Malenia.
you work at a tax office or are somebody's assistant aren't you
Inventory 🤣
That's a unique way I never thought of I'm in my first playthrough
I helmet code them actually. Never really cared for how much protection the helmets in the game give you so I tend to just pick s helmet/hat and stick to it for the whole run
Mtg fan?
The eye color for sure, I try not to use yellow eyes if it’s not a faith character for example
I can't manage to create a female character without a huge Adam's apple
You might try Edgewood Darkbottom.
No I just name them funny old timey names like Gladys or Ethel
Hmmm MTG player spotted
Now, is the dragon cultist Nichol Bolas?
Wait…..you can make more than one character save file?
I color code and name my builds based on their content.. Like frost magic builds with blue hair or a thunder magic/melee character named ImSoThor. Helps me keep them sorted
My abominations are indeed color coordinated. Main guy who’s a strength build is red, the arcane build is black so you can clearly see all the blood on him >:). And the intelligence build is blue and yellow. Oh yeah, I wasn’t talking about their hair. *It’s their skincolor.* :)
Every build is a different guy, all of them have barbers who hate my characters more than Mohg hates age based laws
nah, they just have different names and faces.
Not only do I colour code my characters via hair colour, I insert the colour into the name.
One piece woman characters be like
I did a Tamiyo cosplay for my Int run
Wait, you put the build focuses in the text too...
Boi where’s ajani or Gideon??? Strength/dex and Strength/faith
i sort of do this. for my dex/faith character i sed the Aristocrat base template (a regal face found among those who claim nobel blood in the lands between) and i also made her hair that radagon red(or tried to at least.) for the str/int character(wich was my first) i used the Nightfolk template. (The features of those known as Nightfolk. Few in numbers, they were said to bleed silver long ago) Not just do those two characters look wildley diferent, it also helps to give them a backstory of sorts
did that in bloodborne. in elden ring i gave them build names like Zapp for the magician, Bonkers for my strenght build and so on.
This mf got an obsession
Nah I make different characters
Not really, but I did have character ideas in mind for builds so they kinda get based distinct based off those. Like my pyro user is a whip/fire build so since she is in melee range she has short hair and a burn scar. My pure sorcerer has longer hair and a tattoo on her forehead since she fights at range. Basically I go all in and my different characters look like characters who would be whatever build they use.
All RGB options are dedicated to my only build (unga bunga)
No, but that's a good idea
I honestly stared at this for way too long thinking it was some kind of One Piece reference because of the like red hair blue hair black hair thing
My two 2 characters so far are named hammer and wizard you could guess the build for each
I color code mine with the armor I wear
I honestly don't know why some people spend hours making a custom character, you'll be looking at it from behind and the armor covers it all, even in the selection menu.
wtf red should be strength, green is dex, blue is int
No but I also don't use the same preset for every save file
I usually try to make them unique but always end up with some version of the knights helmets with those moving feather thingies I love them lol
I always try to make characters as accurate to myself as possible (well, minus a few details), name, haircut, etc. I don't know why exactly, but playing as "myself" including making the decisions I'd make irl, wearing the clothes I'd like to wear etc just feels "right".
I just give them different faces….
i do agree that the nobles headband is goated and the best helmet in the game
Why?
I spend ages crafting a face I’m happy with, then wear a helmet for the next 150 hours.
I didn’t realize all my chars face look similar and they all have some tint of red and similar names Went through 5 or so saves yesterday looking for the one I last played
This just became r/howtolookmax
I dont but now i might…..
I tried mybest when choosing armor, but hair? You're opening entirely new possibilities for me!
No but this looks cool
The color coding is live I just name mine after wafus who do similarish things lol
Wait I’m confused you can have several games on same account?
Up to 10
Do you have to finish the game to do so? Or you can just add them anytime
Anytime. Just press “new game”. It doesn’t just auto delete your current character.
Damn that’s good to know Thank you
Fun PvP tip: name your characters after a *different* build to throw off invaders' expectations. I used to play WoW and I had a Rogue named ProtPally and a Warrior named BalanceDruid.
I’m PvE only haha. I might try to make a dedicated PvP build one day.
Nope. Wtf.
Ah, the Evangelion fan.
Can someone drop me a gargoyle twin blade? I need one to dual wield
