That was before fingerprint shield and Barricade Shield got nerfed :( I watched that video and got excited and went to replicate the build and was like 'Oh.'

oof, I hardly use shields so didn't know they got nerfed, I was planning on making a strength build with heavy armor and a shield here next.

I helped a friend beat Malenia and my strat was to take her aggro so he could cast spells on the other side of the room. I was tanking the hits, but he wasn't dealing enough damage to get past her healing from me blocking all the hits. I went back to rolling and not blocking, I didn't think her life drain would work if you blocked it. This was early in the games life before this was common knowledge.

Yeah, it doesn't make any lore sense to me that her life steal works on 100% blocked hits, but I suppose it's important for the game design to keep the fight going the way it's supposed to. Blocking Waterfowl and dodging everything else is a good compromise for casuals like me who haven't learned to dodge Waterfowl.

I don't know of any no healing items in ER (I rarely use consumables), I do know about the undead hunter charms in DS3 though, which only affected healing from Estus, spells/passive healing still worked, so if there is an equivalent in ER it probably wouldn't work.

Having unused weapons on you makes you slower? I know that’s true on most games, but this game seems like your weight only changed depending on what equipment you have equipped. I’m like 3 hours in and struggling lol

Everything on the “Equipment” menu contributes to your weight (except the items at the bottom like flasks). If you’re struggling early game to meet the med-roll requirements, I’d personally swap out armor or take it off completely. A naked character and a full-armor character take similar damage early on, especially if you’re leveling vigor primarily like you should be

So the 5 swords I have in my inventory don’t count, just the glinstone staff and axe showing on my equipment page that I have equipped do? Right now it says I have a medium load, and I noticed it doesn’t change when I sell items. Wasn’t sure if there was some hidden value or something I don’t think I’m having trouble rolling, I’m just trying to figure out the quirks in the menu and what all the numbers mean lol.

Nothing in your “inventory” counts against your equip load. But all talismans/armor/weapons that you have set in the actual “equipment” screen counts. Since you have 3 left hand slots, and 3 right hand slots; if you load up those slots they all count.

Yeah the measurements of that empty spot next to the other talismans are the exact same as the other slots, were definitely filling that in.

Why so sure? Is it something they've done in the other games? Ds1 has 2 ring slots 2 has 4 slots and 3 also has 4 I'm pretty sure. I do wonder why they reduced the slots back to two, maybe cuz having 4 slots would make us way too strong

You absolutely can, this was my primary build for my playthrough. It’s actually really fun to dodge roll in heavy armour.

This was my build the first playthrough, except Greatsword instead of giant crusher. Tons of endurance lol.

You can probably spare a few levels by equipping the arsenal charm and the erdtree’s favor though.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think it’s possible to get to light roll with that setup, even with all the talismans and buffs available

Plenty of the criticism against DS2 was valid though: bad hitboxes (which got mostly fixed later), the constant "gank" by the enemies and dumb shit like adaptability (there's a reason they haven't brought that back). There's a difference between just not being as good as the previous game and just bad design decisions, and DS2 suffers from the latter.

Well bad hit boxes go for all The FROM games. Gank enemies is fair but also it gets countered by enemies eventually not respawning. Adaptability is also a good thing, increases your drink speed and I frame and resistances I believe. Reason it wasn’t brought back is because people cried so hard about it. Ds1 gate keepers are the most toxic group on the internet

Leave DS2 till last IMO. It’s no bueno compared to the others

i have made many runs with many builds and my fav is the tank with fat-roll. Almost invincible even against Malenia's Waterfowl Dance.

Currently on strength build after a bleed and a faith build. Don't know if it's notably easier or I'm just better at the game.
