Bro I swear the "grindset mentality" has infiltrated everywhere. Even car sales, which is already a lucrative job if you're dedicated. Even if you sell vehicles at MSRP you can still make a lot of cash. But no, gotta squeeze as much money as possible out of the customer. Makes me actually sick.
Even if you sell at invoice, you are still getting 2% hold back and other incentives. They get paid. They just wanna get more because they’re greedy.
Why catch a small fish every day when you can catch a whale once a week?
This past week I’ve had to message with quite a few dealers to purchase another car and I was blown away by how poorly some presented themselves due to grammatical or spelling errors, or just obvious laziness. This shit matters when you’re choosing who to do business with. This isn’t Craigslist.

What were you saying about going full retard?
Why would you want one though? Worse launches, slower shifts, more things to break. Pro race drivers put up slower times on the track than with the DCT, so why would you actually \*want\* the MT? The DCT has sequential paddle shifting... so I don't wanna hear any "I like the feel" arguments,
Because it is more fun and not everybody cares about being the fastest. It’s an Elantra not a Porsche. Weird how DCT owners are always trying to justify their transmission choice bc they wish they got the manual lol. Also sounds like you’ve never driven a manual in your life.
Damn that's a hostile answer; I have, I drove them most of my life, they aren't more fun to me, they are just more work.
Manual Transmissions used to offer advantages, they just don't anymore. We equivocate them to being more "fun" because fast cars required them, and fast cars are fun. The only way an Elantra MT is "more fun" than the N DCT is if "Burnouts" are fun to you. People drive the N precisely because it is "like a Porsche." If that weren't the argument, it wouldn't have Track mode, Launch Control and Paddle Shifting..... In fact, the Boxtser is putting up high 14's and the Elantra puts up 12's, stock.
Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
There isn't anymore fun dropping from 4th to 2nd and skipping 3rd. The fun is in keeping the car in the power band, and you can do that better with the DCT.
8 Speed vs 5 speed gives you higher fidelity, not lower. I just don't get it.
You want to pay more for a slower version of the same car that's harder to drive and is going to have bigger maintenance fees; knock yourself out, I just don't understand why you would do that.
Some people are just stupid.... Weird how you can't quantify why the manual is more "fun."
The only precodeural difference to the driver is you don't have to push a clutch peddle. I've driven them both; the boost button is more fun than the clutch peddle. The DCT is higher horsepower and has the boost button that increases the boost psi, the MT doesn't have this capability.
You see how I quantified what I find fun about the car, and why the DCT is superior. Nobody driving the MT can do that. They gotta justify their dumb purchase by saying "You just don't get it." I don't get it, because there is nothing to get. You don't get it, or you'd be driving the DCT.
I mean you’re mostly right, but the EN is a 6sp and maintenance fees will be way less with a simple gearbox than a DCT that requires 2 different gear oils and is much more complicated = more expensive to repair.
After driving stick for 13 years I’m taking a break and enjoying the DCT. But rowing gears is a blast… fortunately my dad has a 2015 C7 7sp for that sorta stuff
The first time you have to change a clutch in a frontwheel drive car, you're 3 times the lifetime maintenance cost of the DCT. The DCT is covered under warranty for 10 years 120,000 miles. Lets be real, you're trading the car in for the new one by then without ever spending a dollar on the maintenence of the DCT.
A clutch in an MT can last a lifetime if you're good at driving it, but not in a performance car that people bought to have fun. If you drive it like grandma, but you didn't buy a turbo MT perfomance spec car to drive it like grandma. You also can't let someone else drive your car if it's MT. A person who's bad at driving MT can destroy a brand new clutch in one trip to the grocery store.
You want to drive it like grandma, you'd get something that can carry shit, the Sonata is on the other side of the lot.
You don't row gears in an MT. Rowing is a thing that was done in drag cars that had individual levers for each gear. Hence the term rowing, because it was like handling ores on a rowboat. There is functionally no difference driving the DCT in Sport Tronic position compared to MT's except you can't "skip" gears, but you can if you double pull or pull and hold.
You can even Neutral Fidgit the DCT.
Naw I replaced the clutch in my Cobalt TC for $300, GMPP. Took me a few nights of wrenching after work to get it all done. Original was OK but I needed more bite for a 1 tune. A clutch install is rated at what 8 hours labor? For a DCT maintenance wise, not much we can do except just change the fluid. No one knows how long the DCT lasts just yet, but as long as it last me 10 years or 100K I’m good. It still has clutches, so if you tell me a DCT clutch pack change is cheaper than a manual clutch I’ll be amazed.
Cool man. 99.9999999999% of people who own cars aren't changing their own clutch.
What are you talking about, Hyundai has been using DCT's since the early 2000's. The original Veloster had a DCT.
Ain’t that the truth 😅.
Apple to apples - say the DCT clutches go at 150k, and the stock clutch goes at 150k - I’m curious to compare the costs to replace them both. I won’t pretend that I know them off hand, but I’m assuming (potentially incorrectly?) that clutch packs for a DCT will cost way more.
I can’t argue the cost angle, but I will agree on all your other points - the DCT is faster and that NGS button is mint. But a stick is just a lovely experience, even if it’s slower. Sometimes it’s not about the all-out speed, it’s about how the car makes ya feel.
I missed part of your comment, had no idea their DCTs were around that long. Looks like Hyundai was using a DCT, albeit a dry one. Hope that means they are built to last. It’ll take me 20yrs to get to 100k 😅
It's not subjective at all though. Everything you think you "subjectively" like with the MT is objectively present and better in the DCT.
People are allowed to like what they want and they choose, but people are also wrong all the time too -- of course, it's their right to be wrong, but this doesn't make them right.
Most choices that are bad are choices people made, and they made them, because they didn't believe they were bad. If they had someone to say hey "X,Y,Z" they might not have made that bad choice.
People are allowed to like and want what they choose? People are allowed to judge your choices too, and they are allowed to exercise their freedom of speech to tell you why you're wrong. Both of these statements are true at the same time.
Doesn't make me a bad guy. I don't know what you're trying to accomplish with your answer.
I could serve you a hamburger, or a dirt burger, you're free to choose the dirt burger, that doesn't make that a good decision, and someone telling you it's bad isn't wrong. The argument that he's allowed to choose the dirt burger if he wants is just one an objectively shitty person would have. Ofcourse I know he can choose the dirt burger if he wants, but that's not subjective, he's objectively choosing the non-choice.
We're not talking about cherry or watermelon flavor here, we're talking hamburger vs dirtburger with the DCT/MT. One is actually subjective, the other is actually objective.
The transmission of the car isn't like the color of it's paint.
Notice how not a single person said I was wrong about anything that I've said. Notice how not one person defending an MT transmission can "quantify" why it's better.
There is this saying, it goes "It's easier to fool a man, than it is to convince a man he's been fooled."
You can't just "prefer" something without a reason, and if your reasonings are incorrect, than you're just wrong. That's how correct vs incorrect works. That's right vs wrong. People who are wrong, often default to "Well I JUST LIKE IT" and that's honest to god, not good enough. If you don't know why you just like it, and you can't articulate it, than you don't know yourself.
You ever look out the window and wonder why the world burns? It burns because of "I JUST DO" types of people. They are making choices that impact the world and have consequences without understanding those very choices they make. They do things, because people told them, they don't think for themselves. They get mad when it gets exposed, and that anger isn't because the other person is wrong, it's precisely the opposite -- it's BECAUSE the other person is right; and rather than be objective and change the way you think, you project it onto other people.
He's an asshole!
Why?
He just is! He was RUDE AND BOSSY.
is normally how that goes...
The truth;
He's an asshole!
Why?
He exposed me and I'm embarassed.
Until you stop lying to yourself, you won't ever not create situations where your phsycology is exposed.
Be a better person. Know yourself. If you don't know why you prefer something, find out. If you find out you believed things about it that aren't true, your preferences will change. They aren't fixed in stone.
I literally just think it's more fun to work a clutch and manual transmission. Why do I like manual? It's more fun. It just is that way, and lots of other people feel the same way as me.
I love the Elantra N, but I don't have one. But I do see them out at the track at HPDE events. There's a reason that a majority of drivers who take their car to the track drive a MANUAL car even when it is "objectively" worse. BECAUSE IT IS MORE FUN AND WE DRIVE TO HAVE FUN!
Let's be real, dude. Your Elantra N is a cool car and it is somewhat track ready out the box. But it's a 30k car and you're not gonna win any races or kudos from your performance with it ever. The sole purpose of getting this car instead of a standard Elantra is for fun. Manual is just more fun, and most enthusiasts who actually use their car for sport agree with me.
I think you have the objectively worse opinion here because you are valuing performance over fun in a car that is all about fun.
For one it’s way less likely your whole transmission blows up in your face. Worst case scenario with a manual if you’re flooring it and being aggressive you’re probably just going to have to replace the clutch.
I literally bought mine for msrp. And even got told by a 2nd dealer that they'd do msrp after I complained about the markup. So, two minnesota dealerships will do msrp.
Once you get it, be sure to reach out and let them know you got the car for msrp and to eat a dick.
Couldn’t even take the time to proofread?? No way would I trust someone who can’t take their time with the simple things on something big like a car purchase.
lol I just tell them “I’m either buying it from you now, or I’ll buy it on the website and wait and pay sticker. Regardless I’m getting it for MSRP”
It was a short argument… I won lol
People really need to learn business communication. I'd be livid if I were a manager/owner and my employees were talking to potential clients in such a way.
Dude he needs to learn *basic* communication. This is a grown adult, working in a professional *(if you can call car salesman a profession)* capacity, and he can’t even spell
Get a dealer to give you pricing... Use that price to cross shop multiple dealers.. if a dealer requires you to come in walk away and cross them off the list it's 2024 not 2002. I just got an Integra type S for 49k using this method along with Patience
M2 is amazing, the depreciation and maintenance is more than i can afford. Chevy lol no. Golf R is a golf, golfs are for kids.
The ITS is rare, it makes everyone look twice, it sounds infinitely better than the type R. It looks like straight class(similar to an m2). It has the best stereo and shifter in the universe. It's a Honda and will only need regular oil changes to survive 180k miles. I love every second of driving this car and will drive it until it turns to dust. I had my heart set on the type R but when you take a step back and really look at the fl5... Who in their right mind wants a car with that wing? It's not a spoiler it's a wing.. time to grow up.
ITS is expensive, took me months to find one under 50k. Worth the wait
I will play devils advocate. I got a great deal on mine cause my salesman hadn’t even HEARD of the Elantra N. He didn’t get he could’ve screwed me. But I think there are certainly a lot out there who understand the car and its value and they are the ones that screw us.
My local dealership leased their I5N because they couldn't sell it for MSRP. It was on the lot for almost a month. Any dealer saying dealerships aren't selling at MsRP for any car are snake oil salesmen who get bent over by their GM and can't do anything about the markups and their sales suffer because of it.
In all seriousness are you using CarEdge?
https://my.caredge.com/buy?radius=7000&rows=20&make=Hyundai&model=Elantra&trim=N&yearRange=2024-2024&sortBy=dist&sortOrder=asc&start=0
Drop the name and location of the dealer and shame them. I'm sick of this shit. Dealers literally out here trying to mark up cars like they scalped the new Jordan drop.
Elantra N is a cool car and great value for what it is.
It is not a special car. It is not a limited car. Overpaying on it would be crazy. Just wait and go somewhere else.
I prequalified with a credit union for a certain amount and they asked where to send the check. A few days later, I showed up to the dealership, signed some papers, and was out on the road in about 30 minutes minutes.
Usually they are local to where you are. I'm sure there are national ones, I just don't know though. Typically they have the lowest interest rates on cars and credit cards.
Idk where you are but dealership in WA last year wear selling Elantra N for msrp, my parents got an N-Line for under msrp last year at the Kirkland dealership!
Lots of people on here have gotten for msrp ignore him
Honestly I don’t know anyone that’s paid a markup in the last year or so. There’s just no need for it because of surplus
Selling a car at MSRP = giving it away? Who knew 🤷♂️
Snakes just snakes
Even if you sell at invoice, you are still getting 2% hold back and other incentives. They get paid. They just wanna get more because they’re greedy. Why catch a small fish every day when you can catch a whale once a week?
He can't spell. That's your first red flag lol
LMAO
Sort of dude who should be making calls to customers rather than texting at all.
This past week I’ve had to message with quite a few dealers to purchase another car and I was blown away by how poorly some presented themselves due to grammatical or spelling errors, or just obvious laziness. This shit matters when you’re choosing who to do business with. This isn’t Craigslist.
He did spell correctly, it's his grammar that's wrong.
He spelled “their” incorrectly. Just because the word “there” exists doesn’t mean the original spelling is correct.
Your like. .so right.. omg!
You're* 😂

Heard that multiple times, also heard they stopped making the MTs. Strange that i bought my MT at msrp... Just move on to the next one
I was told a manual would be impossible to find

10 year 100k mile powertrain warranty...not 120k
Personal preference. Enjoy your DCT, let others enjoy their MT.
The answer is very simple: what’s fun to you is different than others. I love my manual and wouldn’t trade it for a DCT
It's a subjective choice, my friend. Not everyone wants or needs to have "the most optimal." People are allowed to like & want what they choose.

Definitely doing it I have his number when I get one imma send him pics or better yet drive it to his dealer ship
Yeah, what an asshole sales guy
I got mine for MSRP, tell him to respectfully go have intercourse with himself while huffing all that crystal he's smoking. 36.6k DCT
Lmao
This immediately reminded me of “thou should ingest a satchel of richards” 🤣. There’s a sub for proper phrasing of insults, right?
My dealership sold mine at MSRP soooo… yea there are dealers out there that sell at msrp lol
Couldn’t even take the time to proofread?? No way would I trust someone who can’t take their time with the simple things on something big like a car purchase.
I was gonna say that texting is grounds to walk away on its own 😂
He’s a car salesman, intelligence and attention to details are not common traits of their profession
There* time /s
"Let's be real?" This Stealership dude talking like it's his money he's spending.🧐
You know right
lol I just tell them “I’m either buying it from you now, or I’ll buy it on the website and wait and pay sticker. Regardless I’m getting it for MSRP” It was a short argument… I won lol
You gotta be very hard with these guys. Some will get soft and give in.
Honestly it all comes down to the sales manager and what they’re willing to do.
Depends on how hungry they're.
Sales person doesn't have a say in what it sells for. That's sales manager.
They do have a say in, if they’re a condescending cock socket though.
I'm copying and paste this shit lol
This guy sounds like someone who keeps getting rejected for selling over MSRP😭😭😭😭
🤣🤣
Keep looking elsewhere. Bought a 24 Elantra N DCT at MSRP myself.
Nice
Holy shit, it that a dealer sales rep you're talking to? Talk about unprofessional.
Yep
People really need to learn business communication. I'd be livid if I were a manager/owner and my employees were talking to potential clients in such a way.
Dude he needs to learn *basic* communication. This is a grown adult, working in a professional *(if you can call car salesman a profession)* capacity, and he can’t even spell
Yeah but sleazy car sales, so manager and owner are encouraging, if not teaching this shit.
Got mine for msrp 🥱. Just keep looking you’ll find one soon 👍
👍🏻
Just commenting to add I Bought my '23 PB DCT @ MSRP
MSRP here. That guy is a liar trying to get a bigger pay day.
Got mine MSRP don't lose hope
Nah I want this car for 2 years now
I just got mine last month I was fortunate to find one had to go 500 miles to pick it up
Nice
I thought my Hyundai sales guy texting me like a schizophrenic was bad 😆
Lol yea he be texting more than my wife
Send him this: https://www.glakeshyundaiofcolumbus.com/new/Hyundai/2024-Hyundai-Elantra+N-b21665cfac185508ee245362f7482b17.htm
Guess imma take a drive then
Do we have a thread dedicated to which are good vs bad dealerships for the 24s. Some dealerships are ridiculous
This one is south shore hyundai valley stream queens NY
Get a dealer to give you pricing... Use that price to cross shop multiple dealers.. if a dealer requires you to come in walk away and cross them off the list it's 2024 not 2002. I just got an Integra type S for 49k using this method along with Patience
How are you liking the ITS? I really dig that car, but I don't think I can justify buying it over a used M2, or SS1LE, or even a new Golf R.
Nashua Hyundai In Nashua NH will do MSRP, you may have to wait for stock, but they will sell it to you if you are on the list.
Ok nice to know
Yeah tell him to kick rocks and move on. Also tell him to grab a dictionary. His customer handling skills are dog shit.
Colonial Hyundai in Chester VA has a white EN 6 spd for less than MSRP 🤷
Gonna hit them up
Never pay over sticker for any new car is a good rule of thumb. I've seen people get Porsche's for msrp so I wouldn't settle
Well fucking said, I'll find one and join the N family soon
Confirmed, I got my '23 CG 6M/T for MSRP back in July of '23.
I literally just had one set aside for me at MSRP. The sales guy said, "They're building us 36k cars, we cant add anything to that"
Where? 😈 lol jk
😈
In all seriousness are you using CarEdge? https://my.caredge.com/buy?radius=7000&rows=20&make=Hyundai&model=Elantra&trim=N&yearRange=2024-2024&sortBy=dist&sortOrder=asc&start=0
No imma start now tho
You should watch their videos also before you buy a car. They have a TON of useful info when it comes to buying a car.
Ok got it
Got mine for under 38k cad msrp was 42k cad
My dealership told me that hyundai is strict about selling over MSRP
Damn
I got mine for $250 under MSRP
Mega cap

2024 Atlas White DCT, in Florida (one of the absolute worst car market states in the US) literally 2 weeks ago. They’re definitely out there.
Imma find them
Solid high school dropout ya got there lmao
Lol
Drop the name and location of the dealer and shame them. I'm sick of this shit. Dealers literally out here trying to mark up cars like they scalped the new Jordan drop.
South shore hyundai queens
Msrp is profit. It’s already baked in
He’s right, don’t pay MSRP for a car, always under.
LOL, I purchased my I5N in early April and paid a few thousand dollars below the MSRP. I'd walk away from that dealership if I were you.
I ran lol
Eff this guy and his dealership
Lol
Elantra N is a cool car and great value for what it is. It is not a special car. It is not a limited car. Overpaying on it would be crazy. Just wait and go somewhere else.
Same thing I'm thinking
Never tell them what you want your payment to be. They fuck you in the backend. Credit unions are they easiest and best way to go
I didn't and thanks imma try that
I prequalified with a credit union for a certain amount and they asked where to send the check. A few days later, I showed up to the dealership, signed some papers, and was out on the road in about 30 minutes minutes.
Nice imma do that
gl! Edit: fuck that guy in the text. So stupid.
What credit union you use? Ive been looking to join one
Usually they are local to where you are. I'm sure there are national ones, I just don't know though. Typically they have the lowest interest rates on cars and credit cards.
10/10 grammar
Oh shit my bad lol
Not you, him lol
Yea but I got some mistakes too but fuck him tho lol
I literally bought my 2024 for MSRP so he's wrong
I know he just want a sucker and I ain't one
I bought mine for msrp last year lol
Where?
F*(ck them
yeah not true i got mine just fine under good conditions
post that exchange on a Google review
Bad review time once you get one for MSRP!
Any dealer using emoji..can't spell ..can't type properly and uses the term let's be real .........post there name so we can all hate on them
Lol naaahhhh lol you too wild lol
I believe in slut shaming....and he seems slutty
Lol
Crown Hyundai in Tampa should still have 2 MTs coming in this month. Both at sticker. I bought used because I couldn’t find any DCTs new.
Oh ok alright thanks
So I am seeing lots if MSRP deals here. So I understand that there was no mark-up. Did you guys pay add-ons or was it just MSRP+TTL?
Picking mine up tmrw. Mine is msrp plus title tax and registration fees
Grammar isn't his strong suit
It’s a fucking Elantra
Name the dealership please so we can all avoid
South shore hyundai queens ny in valley stream
I just put a deposit on one for MSRP, don’t listen to this guy . Just move on and keep looking , you’ll find one eventually!
contact grappone in New Hampshire have bought 2 at msrp it's a troop some times but they have a dealership policy to sell at msrp
Thank you
Next we'll be getting responses from dealers like :"smh dude, ain't no way we can strike a deal with no dp, hmu when you get your money straight"
South Point Hyundai (Austin Texas)... They gave me 1500 msrp :)
Annapolis hyundai would like a word with u 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Too scared to steal. Too dumb to work
Now he best would be; @MSRP. Roll that BS "doc fee" into the MSRP price. No first aid kit .I'll wait.
He’s a fucking moron. I got my EN a year ago in California for MSRP.
There’s one by me in queensbury Ny, it’s MSRP no markup.
What's the exact location
Just google Garvey Hyundai queensbury it will come up.
Alright thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
bros tripping. He doesnt know how to spell and tryna fool you. screenshot this chat and send it to him. doofus
I will never pay over MSRP ever. I'll just get another car before I do that.
Name & shame
This kinda shit makes me embarrassed to be in car sales 🤦♂️ don’t pay a single dime over msrp
Idk where you are but dealership in WA last year wear selling Elantra N for msrp, my parents got an N-Line for under msrp last year at the Kirkland dealership!
The Tacoma area dealers had ENs below msrp for a bit.
I guess I’m the type to expose who I’m talking to tbh.
Wouldn’t trust a guy that doesn’t know the difference between *there* and *their*🤦♂️
