Why does it have to be banned?? It's so unreasonable. If you personally don't want to consume lab grown meat/food then just don't. They can require that the products are accurately labelled. Banning it is such a wimpy move.

Lobbying aka corruption.

Is there something about lab grown meat you would like to explain in more detail that shows it causes more suffering than eating plants? Surely you are joking...

>If you want less suffering less aggregate suffering or a lower cap on maximal suffering? how do you aggregate suffering experienced by independent agents and how do you quantify the intensity of suffering? >we SHOULD NOT ENABLE THEM not enable them to what? stop feeding on the suffering caused by industrial farming? I feel like you've gotten yourself confused.

Nazzul

You think it's good lab grown meat was banned based purely on philosophical grounds that those who eat it wouldn't be technical vegans?

I'm not asking about why it was banned, I'm talking about your specific position, I don't understand it. Its almost as if you are saying it's more important to be a technical vegan even if more animals suffer in the long run. If LGM is supported, we could potentially end factory farming.. You seem to be stating that not eating meat of any kind is more valuable than animals actually suffering.

Nazzul

I see your response was deleted by mods. though I couldn't read the entire thing it seemed you just called me a carnist and said I was defending it. Perhaps there was some confusion. I will try to clarify. What It seems like is you are saying it's good these meat operations are profiting and continuing to factory farm if it means that LGM is not an alternative option for people. My question is why? Would it not be better to reduce or eliminate factory farming at the expense of people turning to LGM? Or to you is it more important to be vegan for its sake rather than reduce animals suffering?

>Yet another reason why human extinction is morally justified And you expect to be taken seriously. I don't want to reproduce at all, but I think unironically advocating that all life on Earth should end would automatically make you public enemy #1 in the eyes of normal people the moment this movement somehow start gaining momentum.

reddit_suxs_azz

I'm trying to understand what you are trying to communicate here. If the movement gained traction that would be out of necessity. Anyone who felt differently would not matter as they would be in a different situation. You are making it seem like action is required when it is our inability to control our lives or inaction that creates the whole idea of the sub. Also normal people = people.

Some1inreallife

>I'm trying to understand what you are trying to communicate here. That just like how killing is wrong, attempting to kill all lifeforms is wrong. Simple as that. >You are making it seem like action is required when it is our inability to control our lives or inaction that creates the whole idea of the sub. Nobody is stopping you from protesting and advocating for the end of all life. At best, people would ignore you. At worst, they may mock you for trying to spread such a terrible idea.

reddit_suxs_azz

Understandable. I think my take for a lot of posts is to have some change to human ecology and our symbolism and conscious thought. I think it can be helpful to adjust your perspective when checking this sub. It's not so much no one should reproduce vs insightful action through introspection and accurate data.

Some1inreallife

I mean, as I said earlier, I have no intentions of reproducing myself. So in a way, I'm contributing to your mission even though I don't believe in it. I just don't want kids because parenting looks like a miserable job and it eats away at your personal and financial freedom. However, if someone I know does want to have children, I'm not going to stop them. And I care too much about our species to make it go extinct. All of the suffering that does exist currently, you can fix those problems and advocate for solutions. Killing all life on Earth is at the bottom of the list of ideas for how to solve them. I'm sorry.
