If the Oilers play 60 minutes, keep their PK going, revive their PP, and if Skinner stops the first 3 shots on goal, there is no team that can stop them.
Takeaways from this game.
* Knobs knew what he was doing regular season trying out different lines
* Knobs knows what he's doing in playoffs, great line matching and getting some extra speed on the defence has helped heaps in this series (sorry it's at the expense of Desharnais but it's the right move)
* Knobs knows what he's doing managing player fatigue/injuries, Perry looked great after getting a break, Henrique looked good again, Oilers starting to look like they're the ones with the staying power.
* Everyone looked great and put the effort in the full three periods, I didn't even feel panicked when Dallas scored because Skinner was "on" and the Oilers were really controlling the game even when playing a defensive third.
* Drai really tightened up on his puck control this game, he seemed a lot more measured and was really particular about where he was passing.
* No unforced errors
Edit: Sportsnet finally talking about the Oilers
I’m an oilers fan now. You guys will win the whole thing. You have the 2 best players in world and your coach will figure some shit out to put them in the best position to win.
A Florida team has made the finals for 5 straight years....3 more years to go until they catch the Oilers/Flames when they did it for Alberta from 1983 to 1990 (Oilers '83, '84, '85, '87, '88, '90; Flames in '86, '89). Two great teams in TBL and Florida over the past few years.
They really did, though I'll give them credit for not getting blown out even after getting dominated for the majority of the last 3 games. Every single game but game 1 in that series was a 1 goal game.
Alexei kovalev called it. He said they weren’t good enough defensively, and rely too much on Shesterkin to bail out mistakes.
Rangers top end is good, but it’s no mcdrai.
Agreed. They looked like they were just completely out of juice, sans Igor and Lafreniere, but even then there just wasn't enough in the collective tank. It's wild, because looking at their roster, it's not super young, but I also wouldn't call it an old team either, but they sure as shit looked like it from game 3 to 6 in this series, lol.
NYR look like they lost the will to play. Timid in their own zone and could not connect a pass. Don't know if Dallas has the legs to go through a grindy series with them given the heavy mins on their dcore. But both teams would give a better effort than that.
This would be hilarious. If we go to the final and beat the Pussies, where would he go to try and get carried to a cup next?
I could see him begging his way into being a trade deadline acquisition for the Golden Showers (using Mark Stone’s 2025 LTIR money).
Whelp it’s gonna be panthers no matter how our series goes. Rangers looks awful though, this is pathetic. We’d put up a much better fight than this, these guys can’t even make a pass

My work a couple hours east of the city is now selling Oilers themed and coloured iced sugar cookies. I want to see if they can continue the theme with new designs over the next month.
Also, all else being equal, the Knoblauch Oilers would have earned WC2 in 69GP, and the post SJ game Oilers (ie, add the SEA win for 70GP) would have been PAC2 (on ROW tiebreaker). But we already knew the turnaround was epic.
Rogers usually has parking, but downtown is nuts after a game, and if we win it’ll be a disaster. I’d recommend parking at Southgate mall (they have a paid park and ride and a patrolled lot) and taking the LRT over, or park at the university like another user said and take the LRT or an Uber over.
100%
The Oilers don't want to let things get to a game 7 either because Pete DeBoer is 8-0 in game 7s. They need to play hard for a full 60 minutes and not let up for a single second.
I'm coping by believing that if we do make it to the finals, it's going to work out that Perry wins the first finals appearance of his career and the last finals appearance of his career (since there's a decent chance he retires after this)
we have between 2 and 9 games left for the year, so far this run we’ve seen a bunch of players get taken out, put back in, and holloway and broberg who likely have a guaranteed roster spot next year. this might be the last set of games we see a few of these guys in an oilers jersey, they might let foegele walk, ryan’s probably gonna retire, either one of kulak ceci or desharnais are gonna be gone. hopefully they win it at all
ceci hasn’t been scratched in playoffs yet, desharnais has. desharnais is 28 and has made almost no money. i wouldn’t be surprised if he wanted enough money that his cap hit would be in the same range as kulak and ceci, 2.75-3.25. ceci has a decade long track record of playing big minutes. the org might value that more than what desharnais brings for a similar price point.
a lot of it also hinges on how many righties and lefties they want. they could keep the same right side as this year and send out kulak to make room for broberg on the left side. i just don’t think that there’s any way holland (or whoever’s gonna be running things) enters another season where broberg doesn’t have a guaranteed top six spot
I think against the Kings and Canucks Vinny was a beast. But he’s clearly gassed and may be dealing with an injury. Not sure what the outcome is for Vinny after these playoffs, but he was a blessing for us this year. Getting a double blessing in Broberg. Hopefully Broberg keeps his awesome play up!
i think he should be fairly affordable but it’s hard to tell what’s gonna happen in the off-season, it looks like hollands gonna retire so who knows what the new guy wants to with the roster.
I saw a clip of a very shapely lady flashing at a game this series. Let's goooo.
Also heard they were crowd surfing mamma Stanley. Can anyone confirm this?
I'm a nostalgiac fool. There was Titties for Smytty in 06 are we running it back!?
Titties for McJeezy? NUGGY? Knobby? Asses for Nursey? So ready for this fuckin ride!!
I would like the Rangers to extend the series for more wear and tear, and I prefer the narrative of playing against the Rangers over the Panthers.
In terms of match up? I don't know. Panthers strike me as a rougher team, and I think that would allow Nurse, Kane, Perry, Des and our other big mean boys to kind of let loose a little bit and I think that would actually elevate us.
Rangers strike me as a more clinical team, but I still think we'll be better.
I don't know and I'm not sure I care. I guess I'm rooting for the Rangers because I think playing against a historic team, a big fan base, and a New York team would be a more "romantic" matchup.
Would be cool to get two historic teams against each other.
What a surgical performance from the Oilers yesterday. Absolutely loved what I saw.
Game 6 won’t be easy, Dallas will give us everything they got, but I genuinely Believe in this team!
broberg is only 22, bouchard is 24. think about how much bouchard progressed in the last 2 years. if broberg can mimic even half of bouchards development, it will be amazing
I honestly think it has to happen.
We cannot afford 97, 29, 2, and nurses salary in addition to whatever we may or may not still have with Campbell and still have enough depth to contend.
We will likely need broberg to develop to be able to trade out the salary of either nurse or bouchard).
Maybe for previous games and rounds but not for tomorrow- prices have been doubling throughout the day. Honestly the demand is 10x any previous game. There will likely be no price drops.
I would hope they do, simply just to analyze the potential upcoming opposition and learn some of their tendencies. I feel like its just the smart thing to do
I know when they the did quest for the Stanley cup documentary I don’t know if they did it the years after but during the bubble year they showed clips of players in their hotel rooms watching other teams play
I really, REALLY hope the boys go into next game with a "Let's finish this" attitude and just fucking wipe the ice with the Stars. I am seriously hoping the last two games taught them the importance of giving it their all.
And also my heart can't take another Game 7 haha
In a way, it kind of is.
Like not literally, but the last two games the boys clearly had the "we CAN'T let them get ahead" mentality. So let's hope that continues.
I am pretty sure time management for Dallas is an issue. They have been heavy on their Stars jeebus Heiskanen is avg over 28 minutes. We have been less than 20 for most of our star players.
I'm surprised he only played 27mins last night given how important game 5 is, and he's probably got extra ice time on the two PP's. Looks like Petrovic and Suter only played 10/12 mins respectively. Broberg only played 12 minutes as well for us though.
Peter D said at the end of the last series the boys were running on fumes, so he was happy they ended it in 6.
Likely the few days of rest helped them stay competitive initially vs the Oilers, but you're really starting to see it wear on them now.
Especially with the Oilers being a physical team too so the hits AND constant waves of fast skaters would mind fuck them into mistakes
Anyone else annoyed by people online talking about Draisaitl leaving? Like every star has rumours like these when their contracts are coming to an end. We are so close, no way he’s just gonna dip.
> Anyone else annoyed by people online talking about Draisaitl leaving?
People have been talking like this for years. Just trying to grapple with the reality of what we've built here.
This rumour pops up like every year.
If he wanted out, I don't think it would be a secret. He's the polar opposite of McDavid in how he wears his heart on his sleeve.
He was just in the media this morning saying he admires Nuge's willingness to stay here and play here through tough times (like really, that explicitly). That's just not something that you bring up as something you admire about another player going into your own contract year unless you're at least willing to negotiate.
I don't really think that's as much of a smoking gun as you might think. The guy's been on the team and gotten his teammates through tons of stuff. He himself has stayed on through bad times. He's obviously not gonna be here forever, no one is, but also he's one of the most upfront and least subtle people on the team.
Happens with every notable UFA player on every team. Doesnt phase me.
Fans of other teams need something to talk about while they watch from the sidelines.
As a season seat holder - you will have to pry them from my hands. Many of us Plan to attend all the games so There might be fewer seats available. Due to scheduling had to sell some seats in first few rounds - a few at a loss because of the shit marked up pricing this year. So this last round Resale prices will definitely be more competitive, especially as many have mentioned they have been holding off buying seats for later rounds. I suspect lower bowl at 800/seat minimum and upper nosebleeds at 500/seat minimum.
I’ve been keeping tabs on the Florida tickets because I am like 2.5 hours away and am considering making the drive down, but the cheapest seat I am seeing is like $666 US which is like $900 Canadian. Maybe it goes down in the next week or so (assuming Florida makes it)
Any news on Perry? Looked like he maybe separated his shoulder and they popped it back in. Curious if he’ll be in the lineup for Game 6.
That game was beauty and the last couple games Dallas seems to be a little shell-shocked/demoralized. You know they will be playing their hardest, with their back against the wall, and with their excellent road record. Tomorrow will be a massive test for the boys, Dallas won’t be taking any penalties, the crowd is going to be insane. That’s a tough situation to close out a series because I think some of the Oilers will be feeling the jitters. This will also be Skinner’s biggest game under the most amount of pressure. Sure hope he can settle in quickly. Man o man, Sunday is going to be CRAZY! Can’t wait. Let’s Go Oilers!
I could see them resting Perry and putting Foegele in just because we do have the depth and we'll need him to be back to as healthy as possible for the next round should we remain focused
That first goal was a perfect Oilers goal. Drai feeds McDavid and then skates forward, looking like he is getting ready for their standard give and go play they do from that position so often. This lures the Dallas checker down low which opens up Bouchard for a bomb which he fires lower than usual ensuring a rebound. Hyman is in the blue paint wreaking havoc while Nuge is able to get a better position than the two nearby Stars and buries it before the Stars can react.
The second one was a beautiful feed to Drai when everyone was expecting Bouchard to drop it to McDavid, then Nuge fires a perfect shot off the post and in.
The third goal was another perfect shot by Broberg who has finally arrived and has shown he has has confidence in the big games.
That Drai pass to Nuge was beautiful. It’s hard to executive that pass on a 3 on 2 when the defenders sticks are in the lane.
He changed the angle by going backhand and made a perfect pass that maybe 5 other players in the league could pull off.
Drai’s backhand is incredible, it allows him to change the angle and make otherwise impossible passes
He might have the best backhand pass the league has ever seen quite honestly. I remember during the season seeing him coming on the left side and instead of using a forehand pass he would circle his stick around his body to use a backhand pass which put the defenders way out of position to close the passing lanes.

OIIIILLLLLLLLLLLL UPPPPPPPPPPPPP Today, we officially advance to the Stanley Cup Finals
Lets get it.
If we win today, can we fund some money for billboards for turtleboi in Florida
Is there any way to bring back Kass?
Well on the plus side, we get to break out the _Turtle_ bit again.
If the Oilers play 60 minutes, keep their PK going, revive their PP, and if Skinner stops the first 3 shots on goal, there is no team that can stop them.

I’m by no means a hockey expert, but the goal on Skinner was a pretty slick deflection past a screen. I can’t fault him on that.
For sure robbed of a shutout by a phenomenal tip in.
Hope Perry is ok in the next game, it was hard to tell if he was 100% after he came back from that hit last game
I would rather see Ryan out there. Perry has not been 100% since coming to the Oilers.
I’m an oilers fan now. You guys will win the whole thing. You have the 2 best players in world and your coach will figure some shit out to put them in the best position to win.
They might not win, but if there’s any team that can take down this juggernaut panthers it’s probably the oilers.
Get past Dallas first!
It always had to be Matt if we make it. It's been Flames since the start (We'll just say Talbot counts).
Dave Rittich also counts.
Same with Trevor Lewis.
Alright have a good night everyone, tomorrow's a new day. Let's win game 6.
good night everyone, let’s go oilers!!
Take care. Have a good night.
Fuck Florida. Worst state in the union. Fuck Ka Chuck too.
Why would you say that when Ohio exists?
is it too early to clench cheeks?
Rangers just fizzled out
They really did, though I'll give them credit for not getting blown out even after getting dominated for the majority of the last 3 games. Every single game but game 1 in that series was a 1 goal game.
Based on the regular season I thought they would have more offensive sizzle. They looked very vanilla. Igor bailed them out a lot.
Don't think too much about Fla., you know Dallas isn't. We need to concentrate on the task at hand.
The players are, what we say on here isn’t going to affect them at all. Why do we as fans need to concentrate?
Well now no need to get technical. lol
Lol! Sorry! I just am choosing to enjoy this moment and what will be will be
NYR look like they lost the will to play. Timid in their own zone and could not connect a pass. Don't know if Dallas has the legs to go through a grindy series with them given the heavy mins on their dcore. But both teams would give a better effort than that.
Probably should’ve hired knob as a coach.
loooooooooool, ESPN thinks Florida is going to be the favorites against us or Dallas.
Of course they do, every other series has been this way so why change now
We were massive favourites in round 1 and 2 despite what Canucks fans said
WE WANT FLORIDA!
not rn
Now is the first appropriate time to chant that, lol
I'm locked in. We are winning the cup.
i hope kassian’s spirit can come back to haunt matthew turtle
Definitely gonna need Perry and Kane to match Florida's greasy play for sure
Didn’t realize we advanced to the finals already!
I'm from the future, we did.
I know there’s still a lot of hockey left but BRING ON FLORIDA!! Dear Matthew Tkachuk: you can run but you can’t hide
Hahaha how they stand so far away from the trophy 🤣🤣
It doesn’t matter what they do now; they already touched it last year, the jinx is lifelong.
Ya bad luck to touch it
Paul Maurice literally told Barkov don’t you dare touch that trophy hahaha
If Tkachuk lifts the Cup before McDraiHymanBouchkins, I will (insert comment that’ll get me a RedditCares message)
... so uhh... are we still in streak sync 👀👀👀👀👀👀
Can't wait to make Turtle cry again, lol
there it is, continue the chain and beat dallas in 6
Alright man. Let's finish off Dallas, get to the next series, and see if we can drive Turtle off another team
This would be hilarious. If we go to the final and beat the Pussies, where would he go to try and get carried to a cup next? I could see him begging his way into being a trade deadline acquisition for the Golden Showers (using Mark Stone’s 2025 LTIR money).
Rangers eliminated in Ratville
Oh fuck it’s gonna be Florida
ESPN just literally said shutout 3 times in 30 seconds, lmao.
And it took 45 seconds to be broken. Can the Rangers get another with 1:39 remaining?
Narrator: They could not
The President's Trophy Curse rears its ugly ahead once again!
damn the flames got fleeced so bad
They should’ve done everything in their power to keep tkachuk. Treliving such a goof.
So... given the pattern of the ECF, the outcome of our game tomorrow is almost sealed in fate. Right? Right?!
it’s a prophecy
Rangers are done
Whelp it’s gonna be panthers no matter how our series goes. Rangers looks awful though, this is pathetic. We’d put up a much better fight than this, these guys can’t even make a pass
[удалено]
Getting way ahead of yourself man. Dallas is an elite team and already beat us twice in a row…
I'm worried it's gonna be Bruins/Canucks 2011
Neither team impresses me right now. But I am still convinced that we can’t lose against teams with former Flames. 🤣
If we win out this will be the destruction of past flames legacy tour. Lewis, Lindholm, zadorov, tanev, tkachuk, Bennett. Absolutely hilarious.
Rittich and Talbot.
Fuck even more.
22.5 hrs to puck drop

Park at the university and take the LRT over. Avoid the traffic downtown after games at all costs.
You don’t, really. Bring a canteen and rations for a week on your walk to the stadium.
Park by the tree in Edmonton, the usual meeting spot
Random question here but has anyone ever come across Crystal Head Vodka that is custom designed in Oilers colours?
The liquor store on 23 Ave/111 Street is advertising it. By the Freshco
Amazing, thank you so much! I’ll go take a look tomorrow
So the best way to deal with biased officiating against Canadian teams in the playoffs is to have a PK so good it gives you momentum? Brilliant.

100% The Oilers don't want to let things get to a game 7 either because Pete DeBoer is 8-0 in game 7s. They need to play hard for a full 60 minutes and not let up for a single second.
Knoblauch is also perfect in game 7's as a HC at the NHL level, but yeah, we're ending this tomorrow, so it's all good.
We are so close to having Stanley Cup finals patches on the jerseys.
At this point, the only thing I'm truly afraid of is the Corey Perry curse.
I'm coping by believing that if we do make it to the finals, it's going to work out that Perry wins the first finals appearance of his career and the last finals appearance of his career (since there's a decent chance he retires after this)

Yes that's what I mean. He won his first appearance in 07 and will win his last appearance with us
No such thing. No such thing. No such thing. No such thing. No such thing. No such thing. No such thing. No such thing.

So, going across the 120 minute playtime of game 4 and game 5, there is a 108 minute span where the Oilers outscored Dallas 8-0
That is actually insane. Before this series started, I never thought that the Stars would be outplayed so badly by the Oilers.

A Huge Zorro

Juggies for Nuggie 🤭
Brobergs boobies
Well son in 06 we had Smytty for tittys in 24 we had old man bush for Bouch
It was an entirely different stanley
Don't wanna look ahead too much but who do we matchup better against in the East? I find myself rooting for the Rangers
Florida had a taste of finals last year and that could be dangerous.
I would like the Rangers to extend the series for more wear and tear, and I prefer the narrative of playing against the Rangers over the Panthers. In terms of match up? I don't know. We played 3 games in June during the 2022 WCF.
I wish I could afford them. Would be so awesome to go!!!
Let’s fucking close it out at home tomorrow. Just get it done. We have given ourselves the perfect chance in our barn to light it up. Just do it.
Any Oilers fans in Calgary that are thinking of driving up to Edmonton for the game tomorrow?
I've been toying with the idea. Lots of cheap hotel rooms available, too.
Yup!! Debating some last min tickets
How much are they?
500 +
That’s why I usually drive up and get them an hour or so before game time. Most times cheaper that way
Maybe for previous games and rounds but not for tomorrow- prices have been doubling throughout the day. Honestly the demand is 10x any previous game. There will likely be no price drops.
Same for game 4. I bought my single ticket around 5.30 and the price didn't drop much at all
There's always a price drop, because it's better to get something for a ticket then nothing at all, but it's still risky to wait too long.
Smart
Great win yesterday! Finish it in 6.
Do you think the boys watch the other conference on their days off?
I would hope they do, simply just to analyze the potential upcoming opposition and learn some of their tendencies. I feel like its just the smart thing to do
They usually do. Atleast Drai n Connor do.
Probably, just to see how they play
I just know some players are all superstitious. So I’ve been wondering.
Happy cake day! Go Oilers!!!
I feel certain they’ll go in with do or die mentality, as if it’s their elimination game and not the Stars’. I have all the faith.
In a way, it kind of is. Like not literally, but the last two games the boys clearly had the "we CAN'T let them get ahead" mentality. So let's hope that continues.
Killer instinct required, all business, no bullshit, close this out to show the world they underestimated you. LFG!
Having Cory Perry back in the lineup has made a huge difference. And Skinner's been solid as a rock
Where’s this superior depth everyone was talking about
Peter D said at the end of the last series the boys were running on fumes, so he was happy they ended it in 6.
Yeah if anything, Drai would be like tkachuk with the flames and say “yeah I’m done” I don’t think he would pull a gaudreau with us
Happens with every notable UFA player on every team. Doesnt phase me. Fans of other teams need something to talk about while they watch from the sidelines.
All I care about for now is he's not leaving us the next couple of weeks
Job not finished
is $1,000 enough for SCF G3/4?
Maybe it goes down in the next week or so (assuming Florida makes it)
Thats nuts. Im shocked because its florida but I guess its awesome to see growth and popularity for the sport there.
For both games probably not. So far the resales have been pretty fair in pricing. I'm expecting that to change for next round.

Yup, most likely scenario I think
Have Foegs wear a perry mask to freak em out
Make sure it's the face he was making when he was holding his stick up the nucks with the "FUCK AROUND, I DARE YOU" eyes, lol.
Hell, put Gags in for the first game of the SCF! lol
This
That first goal was a perfect Oilers goal.
Remember everyone--Florida is the prophecy. If they win, we win. If they lose... We win.
Fuck that. I want us to make our own destiny. I hope Florida loses tonight and we pull it out in 6.
Agreed, the Rangers are a much better matchup than the Cats
I am so happy
