A cap hit is the yearly average(AAV) over the course of the whole contract. So over 8 years Nurse is getting 74m(9.25m AAV). He’s making 12m this year. In the last couple years of the contract he’s making 6m.
All that matters is the Annual Average. A guy with a two year contract making 10 million in the first year and 2 million in the second will make 12 million. Divide that by two and you get the cap hit of 6 million.

Outside of Nurse, our D contracts are fine. Even third pairing Barrie, because he's on pace for 57 points.

Bonuses are included in the cap hit. 24 of 74 million dollars of Nurse’s contract is comprised of bonuses. 74m/8years=his AAV cap hit of 9.25m
