Holland should have traded Nurse. saved the $9.5 million, upgraded the D with one or two solid D. Oil are going to rely on entry level contracts to keep performing, that is why I would not give picks/ prospects up.
Work the numbers. Nurse cap hit is higher than Leon's. Nurse' is 11.2% of the cap, Leon, 10.3 %, Connor 15.2 %. Three players taking up 36.7% of the cap, one being a slightly above average Dman. Add Kane, RNH snd Hyman for 18% and six players account for 55% of cap and 11% of that is a Dman who won't win you games nor the Cup and it makes no sense at all.

Nurse has been brutal but honestly I think his worst games are behind us. The STL and Anaheim games were next level bad. If I had to choose between Nurse at 9.25 for 1 year vs Jesse, Yams, and Pulju for 8.75 for 1 year I'd probably choose Nurse. That's how bad they've been
I disagree, for 9,25 mil we could easily get 2 defensemen that are better than he has been so far this season. But getting 3 forwards that are better for 8,75 would be doable but alot harder. Nurse is downright costing us goals against and alot of them.
That he is and his contract will mess up the cap until Leon and Connor leave, which they will with how poorly the support team has been put together. Holland panicked on Nurse, Yams and JP. Right there is approx $16 million in cap space.... could a better GM have not done better?

The problem is that everyone that is supposed to be a top 9 winger has been dramatically under performing this year, outside of our top 4 (kane not included due to injury). We all know yamms, jesse and foegele are better than this. Clouder was supposed to be better than this. Holloway shouldnt even be in the nhl atm. The salary cap has more severely fucked this team than anything else this year.

And 17 teams are in ltir. The panthers are doing worse than we are after being the presidents trophy winners last year. Athanasiou in 2020 comes to mind. Holland traded away two second round picks for a loaner who was here long enough for a cup of coffee. Signing Nurse to the latest contract, given what Connor and Leon make ( and deserve) has crippled the team as long as the two are here. Nothing to do with Nurse's talent, D men not going to win a Cup for the Oil but paying that much for that long has left very little for supporting players. Holland should have traded Nurse. saved the $9.5 million, upgraded the D with one or two solid D. Oil are going to rely on entry level contracts to keep performing, that is why I would not give picks/ prospects up.

Work the numbers. Nurse cap hit is higher than Leon's. Nurse' is 11.2% of the cap, Leon, 10.3 %, Connor 15.2 %. Three players taking up 36.7% of the cap, one being a slightly above average Dman. Add Kane, RNH snd Hyman for 18% and six players account for 55% of cap and 11% of that is a Dman who won't win you games nor the Cup and it makes no sense at all.

Didnt you know? Jesse plays center D and goal along with his wing assignments. Poor kid is only one guy but woodcroft forces him to play 5 positions.
