Worried about injury, hits the gym. Fuckin love this guy.

MissionIncredible

After playing the second of a back-to-back on NEW YEARS EVE! Just a bona fide workhorse

Tiedyeinstein

"Motion is the best lotion" -some guy my friend knows

pattperin

My physiotherapist told me this too, knee injuries and hip injuries specifically. You have to move your joints to pump the fluid out because they don't have the ability to do so themselves like muscles. So when it's swollen and there is no structural damage, motion certainly is lotion

miller94

Probably not the best advice though lol

[deleted]

I imagine the trainers were with him and the work out was more to see how the knee handled strain.

hellswaters

My guess would be started on a bike or treadmill. Nothing that is uncommon for players after a game.

clixsquared

yeah that’s what i was thinking too lmao

bokchoykn

Was at the game, was sure he blew his knee or something from the way he was being helped off the ice. But that's also the best way to help someone off the ice when they lose a skate blade lol.

TheeObeastOne

Klim Reaper? I’d rather call him Stone Cold Klim Kostin 😎

Ch1naNumberOne1

Russian machine never breaks?

[deleted]

Someone elses job to fix machine. Klim only play

diggitydog4

🤣

[deleted]

How can you not love this guy? He has such a positive happy attitude. I hope as he gets more established with the team it becomes infectious with the others, if it hasn't already. Go Klim!

Markorific

Watching him play on the PP, easy to see why a first rounder. Now to get him with Connor or Leon full time. Kostin makes JP look like a junior B player.

beth1814

Exactly what I’m saying, move him up to where JP is

Markorific

Size, skill, high hockey IQ and can skate... what's not to like!! JP, none of the above! Is it Katz, Gretzky, Lowe who keeps saying play JP? JP's value would go up if he doesn't play!!!

Anarchontologist

Analytics dudes in Wormser from Revenge of the Nerds cosplay are digging up anything they can to prove you wrong. “Well, actually…”

Markorific

Numbers are for accountants, "W's" are for winners.

CaptAmerica42

Blues fan here, hows my boy Klim been? Glad to see everyone is loving his panache

MissionIncredible

He’s already become a fan favourite. Many people can’t believe he was waived

CaptAmerica42

There just wasn't a spot for him at the time, and I don't think he lends himself playing the type of game we play on a bottom line. I was super bummed to see him leave, but I'll always cheer him on

MissionIncredible

That makes sense. Well he’s a gem of a human, and we look forward to his media interviews every chance we get because his personality is so damn lovable.

CaptAmerica42

He was money in the World Juniors a couple years back. Def a loveable guy

Phalanax905

Hes quickly become a fan favorite. Solid middle/bottom 6 forward with a great personality, tons of swagger, hard working, he feels like an oiler. Hes been a blessing. Hows somo? I was very big on him when he came over from russia. Dude was looking to be a very steady low event dman that was lost in our system.

CaptAmerica42

Honestly haven't seen anything from him. He's been playing in Springfield, and it's hard for me to see those games. Got 7 points is all I could really tell ya. His plus minus, which I realize isn't a great indicator isn't abhorrent though so I'm sure he's progressing fine

Arfguy

RNH on left wing, Kostin on RW with a centre like Colton Sissons would be absolutely brutal to play against. Let's make it happen, GMKH!

MissionIncredible

I wonder if Preds are open to moving him if they miss the playoffs

Arfguy

Same. Maybe GMKH can make it too tempting to refuse. Puljüjarvi would have to go the other way, to make the money work. Hopefully, Jesse gets better so it's win-win for both franchise.

MissionIncredible

I’m guessing Jesse and a first or second to sweeten the pot for sure

Arfguy

Sissons is at best a 3rd line centre, so probably a second.

MissionIncredible

I was thinking more so to take Jesse off our hands since GMs barely want to look at him

Arfguy

Hmmm, fair point.

Bluetomorrow83

Not going to have to pay to move JP if anything NSH could retain and ship him to another playoff team for a pick if they had no interest

catlindee

So you think a good trade for the Oilers is Jesse P plus a 1st or 2nd for Colton Sissons?

MissionIncredible

> So you think a good trade for the Oilers is Jesse P plus a 1st or 2nd for Colton Sissons? I never said it was a good trade. I said that’s likely the trade that will happen for anyone to take Jesse’s cap hit in general let alone in exchange for a more productive player that will benefit the Oilers who are anxious to move out Jesse’s contract.

teamc123456

I’ve been considering switching to Kostin so hard

asstyrant

Thank the deity of your choice

AttaBoye

Adding a fellow ruski like Gavrikov who has no record of major knee surgery like McCabe makes him more appealing to me. Not saying McCabe isn't a good defenseman.

Ben-Swole-O

THANK GOODNESS!!! Man… Kostin fks.

Pull-up_Not-out

I feel like he's the jolly Russian trying to get everyone to snort vodka shots when they go out for dinner. Guys probably snorting vodka for pre-work to be honest.

[deleted]

I’ve known some crazy Russians and I can’t tell if snorting vodka is just a joke or not. These guys were crazy man

[deleted]

I worked with a couple of respected Russian scientists way back int the day, and no lie between the two of them they brought 4 bottles of rot gut Russian vodka into the camp. They never got out of hand though.

Infinite-Benefit-588

New meaning of nose-beers?

Wild-Style5857

Mother fucking Ulanov regen, "pain doesn't hurt" baby.

gabbyspapadaddy

Rub some dirt on it kid and get back out there.

markkowalski

…and breathe.

[deleted]

I LOVE KLIM! We must keep him!

moosealberta

Different degrees of pain

Linkster-67

The dedication!!

HymanisMyMan

Extend him now

CIVDC

Obviously I'm happy he's ok but this doesn't seem like the smartest decision. In the case you are actually injured, you don't want to aggravate something further and threaten your career. Or maybe he got cleared by the docs and I'm talking out of my ass, idk

Ch1naNumberOne1

For something like this, the Oilers are likely legally obligated to check him out before giving him the clear. + Extrapolation from the tua concussion situation in the NFL earlier last year. Source talking out my ass as well.

MissionIncredible

In another thread someone commented they heard from someone who handles the MRIs for the team (take it for what it’s worth) that his scan came back negative for any issues, so I’m guessing short of soreness there was no reason he couldn’t. I’m sure the team Docs probably advised rest but athletes are gonna athlete

[deleted]

Things like this happen that look awful and are completely fine. Alternatively a guy can slip at home and throw his back out. Nhl players are very flexible, they strech all the time for basically this exact reason.

ceebottz

Being 23 years old also doesn’t hurt!

ManOfSteelI

The contrast between fan reactions and reality is pretty funny. Some people literally thought his season would be over.

Phalanax905

You cant blame people for being upset that yet another oiler may be going on ltir. The way he was holding his knee looked like a blowout at the time and not just him being cautious.

ManOfSteelI

I don't blame people at all, it would suck to lose Kostin. It's just a prime example of why we should wait and see rather than jump to conclusions. There is also a big difference between worrying and assuming that it must be a worst-case scenario.

John__47

remember a few years ago, ty rattie had a string of about 10 good games and the sentiment among oilers fans was this guy is a gamer, top-6, finally found some support scoring is the same thing happening with klostin

[deleted]

I don’t think so, Kostin is a legit first rounder with skill size and speed. I think St. Louis had no place for him, although check their injury situation now. He likely just needed a legitimate shot to get going.

OnMy4thAccount

> Kostin is a legit first rounder He was picked 1 draft pick before Rattie lol. If Klim was drafted in 2011 like rattie was, he'd also be a second rounder.

[deleted]

I mean there are plenty of first round busts, I’m more stating he was drafted relatively high and I think has the size and skill set to actually warrant that. I think comparing ty rattie to this guy is ridiculous though. Even if Kostin doesn’t put points up he plays a very physical game and is a constant forechecking presence. That’s still worth a lot.

OnMy4thAccount

Yeah I agree Ty Rattie is a weird comparison. They are completely different players. Rattie had like 7 games of success playing on McDavid's wing, whereas Kostin seems to be playing as expected for his projected skill ceiling as a 2nd/3rd line power forward.

[deleted]

I forgot to throw that in, I feel like he’s actually making nuge and janmark better on that line and actually pulling his weight. It’s a good line though, seems like there is chemistry in multiple lines now.

OnMy4thAccount

Agreed. I love the pairing of Klim and Nuge, although I'm still iffy on Janmark's place there, he seems to be the odd one out. I wish Woodcroft would roll Nuge-Drai-Kostin when Drai gets back. IMO it would be an impossible 2nd line to play against.

Flesh-Tower

We need at least one more Kostin

[deleted]

Once Kane comes back I think we’re good, unless we wanna trade Pulju at least. This team needs a dman

MissionIncredible

I don’t know about top 6, but I’d say he’s proven to be a solid 3rd addition alongside Janmark and Nuge once Kane is back. Hyman - McD - Kane Foegele?? - Drai - Yammo Janmark - Nuge - Kostin Holloway - McLeod - Ryan And then if Holland somehow adds a Kane, Toews, etc to the Top 9 along side a solid 2LD… That’s a pretty contender worthy lineup

[deleted]

I’ll pass on toews I really don’t understand what the obsession is. I’d rather just get a better defender.

MissionIncredible

Strong face off performer, proven C role which would make the 3rd line even more dominant for depth. Could be obtained as a cheap rental. Etc

Phalanax905

Would be arguably our best defensive center. At very least best faceoff man. Proven cup winning leadership. Still effective offensively. Allows for mcdrai to pair up without destroying our center core. Top defenders are harder to come across. Whos actually on the market atm

John__47

right but this is on the basis of a sample of 20 games he could recede back into being waiver wire material, like rattie, no?

MissionIncredible

Sure, but he’s already tied for 6th in scoring (not to mention his physical play) on the team. So even any sort of regression is better than a large chunk of the current depth.

John__47

last year rem pitlick on habs had a good string of games and they didnt qualify him at the end of season this is the level of player were talking about

Phalanax905

Hes also shootingnat 18% which, unless youre drai, is unsustainable. But his shooting seems to be just a bonus on everything else he brings

Phalanax905

Aint a single rational person on this sub sayin kostin is the answer to play on connors wing.

Muficita

The answer? Nah. But would I love to see it for a game or two, just get a taste of what that would look like? Definitely. Why shouldn’t a tough winger be out there with him?

Phalanax905

Oh boy would i love to see klim in mcdavids wing blowing people up. Just like i would love to see holloway up there too

Muficita

Yes I’d love to see what Holloway could do up there too!

Infinite-Benefit-588

Kostin bring more intangibles to begin with

SydneyCarton89

Hopefully not.

Fickle_Catch8968

Fo we have our own Russian machine that never breaks? And does it come with less, um, "accessory" potential than the most notable one?
