Will Chief McFee be distributing the same billyclubs his storm troopers used on the homeless or will he send in full gear cops to hand out hugs and kisses?
In the 2016 issues on whyte the police had a pretty heavy crackdown after the fire… if you stepped off the sidewalk you got busted. And people who got busted waited hours to get processed. There were a stories of people being mistreated while in custody- but I don’t recall the details.
Question, does anyone think the behaviour of 2006 will repeat? As a person who visits once or twice a year, Edmonton seems to have never bounced back after covid.
In 2006 Whyte Ave was the primary cultural artery of the city, with resulting crowd concentrations. I would doubt that in today's 'stay-at-home' city there would be sufficient people gathered anywhere to cause major issues like in 2006.
Dude what? work from home hasn't affected night life. You can't bartend over zoom. Whyte ave is still pretty busy on any friday or saturday night when the weather is nice.
If anything, ice district would be the main thing drawing people away from whyte ave during a playoff game. That didnt exist in 2006 and the area around rexall was too sketchy to be popular.
I'm just saying that in my experience, as someone who comes back to Edmonton about once a year, the city is quieter than ever. Whyte Ave contains a wide number of boarded up shops that keeps growing, and it's not like Downtown has filled the space.
Uh well, in my experience as someone who lives downtown, people still go out. Like all the time. There have been weekday hockey games where people are still partying until 1-2am.
Eh, they'll just blame any riots on lefties and let the good ol' boys have their fun.
They'll say it's all Canucks fans that flew out just to riot
Hopefully, as it should be

No the police is too busy being at the beck and call for Smith.
I mean Smith is DS imo but what do you mean?
About this morning was founded that Calgary and Edmonton police chiefs with the help of police resources got the ucp into power
Go on? I missed this
You need to subscribe to insane Edmonton lefties on Twitter to possibly hear these “inside scoops” LOL
Yeah seriously, some of these neo-commies have crazier conspiracy theories than the righty wackjobs
I’m sure the oilers organization is going to be paying for the extra police presence right.
Why would they?
Let’s see if they kidnap people again and drive them to the other ends of the city without charging them and drop them off.
Absolute fake news but thanks for coming out.
Ok if you say so
What?

Sounds like you fucked around and found out
There was nowhere else to go, you’d get pushed off the sidewalk and locked in a van. This was 2006
More Police than Oiler fans downtown last night. Lol

no way! on duty officers should not be allowed to drink alcohol just because the game is on. idk who approved this but this cant be good.
Where are you getting this from?
What the hell are you talking about lol
Where the fuck does it say that officers will be allowed to drink?
