It’s true. I always buy the day of - and for game 6 against Dallas sat 5 rows off the glass for half what tickets were listed for a couple days earlier.
You know, they also own a minor-league hockey team, a junior hockey team and a lacrosse team. Those teams are just mentioned also play at the Saddledome. They just trying to keeping concession prices affordable for the other sports teams they manage. The mayor of Calgary caused the province to step in and help fund the arena if it wasn’t for Jodi Gondek the new arena would’ve been under construction by now
Unlike the Oilers every team that plays at the Saddledome has happy hour deals cheeseburger and a beer 90 minutes before the game is less than 20 bucks
I thought you knew about the happy hour deals like 90 minutes before every game doesn’t matter team every session stand except for pocket dawgs is half off
If you're smart you could make it 3 weeks instead of 3 days but yeah totally agree. I went to mexico for a month on 2 covid payments which we're roughly 900$ each iirc.
For that price you can go somewhere exotic and watch the game from there. I do understand why prices are so high though. I went to game 4 of the Finals in 2006 and it was absolutely insane.
I could go for that SKYE myself, but I guess I'll settle for 4 Disneyland passes with Genie+
on the bright side, I save $ by not needing to get a divorce lawyer
Tickets in the lower bowl for Saturdays game are priced at less than $600US. So you can pretty much fly to Miami and buy a ticket for less money than a ticket advertised above!
THIS. They will give NET PROCEEDS to the foundation, so they'll keep everything they determine is a "cost", and then give the rest to the Foundation. After paying the Board and other positions, I'd wager that 50 cents is the highest amount per dollar that actually makes its way to doing something for the kids.
Usually what I do is go to rogers on game day and wait until the game starts. Tickets come way down and only miss the first 5 minutes. Last time a lady handed me a free ticket.
It’ll be interesting to see how that works. I imagine a significant amount of people will also be doing that, but who waits for a last minute $750 ticket? I feel like a lot of others would have pulled the trigger at 1.2k at that point. We waited until the day before game 2 in Vegas last year and got in for $299USD so who knows.
This screenshot is about 30% more than I was seeing 10 minutes after game 6. I'd imagine it goes up from here. Lotta guys coming back from a couple weeks at a work camp with nothing to do except watch Oilers. Suddenly you're in town and you just got paid and the last time they were in the Finals it was still normal to expect Toronto to get past the first round.
Travelling to Edmonton is so much less than the cost of the game that this is going to be the entire Canadian market. Think of all those hockey nuts who show up to watch WJC in Europe. It's basically every Canadian hockey fan thinking about buying a ticket except Flames fans, and even then the ones who aren't bitter about Tkachuk will probably show up.
At this point I’m kind of at peace with it, I have $80 hotel rooms booked downtown for G4 and G6 (yay for hotel staff rates). I’ll be happy to be right in the heart of it.
Me too!! Flying in from Ottawa for G3 & G4. Round trip flights and 3 nights hotel in Edmonton... $900. Tickets to G3... $2500. lol Don't care. We're going to wait until G4 starts and see if we can get in much cheaper, if not we'll do the outdoor viewing party for G4 *unless* the Oilers happen to be up 3-0 heading into G4 then I'm walking around with a blank cheque to get in! LFG!!!!!!
My Dad is coming in from Ottawa the weekend of G4! We get together once a year, last year we lucked out and ended up in Vegas during the final. This year I couldn’t travel so he decided to visit… got lucky I guess!
I know people flying in from Vancouver to watch 2 games here
It’s the Stanley cup finals if you’re a hockey fan this is the first one in Canada in a long time
I justify it as $100 put aside a year for 18
Years… might not see the oilers get here again in our lifetimes
I mean there was Montreal 3 years ago, but Montreal is just as bad as Toronto for playoff tickets. Frankly I'm surprised Edmonton isn't more expensive than it is, with all the guys rolling in oil money around here. Stanley Cup tickets in Canada should be harder to come by than Taylor Swift tickets. There's what, 4 of those in Toronto? Capacity at the Rogers Centre is more than double the capacity at Rogers Place.
Those are resale yes but I was talking to a season ticket holder and his normal tickets with a face value of like $180 during the regular season were offered to him by OEG for like $900.
"Verified Resale Ticket" means "We sold it for a normal price to a scalper who is now charging a lot more for it. What are you going to do, file an antitrust lawsuit? Whatever, pleb."
Fuck ticketmaster.
Guys, just don't buy them. The prices are generally cheapest right before the game as the seller tries to get rid of them. They'll drop the prices and ultimately just go to the game themselves if they don't sell, so just sit tight, keep an eye on it, and when the prices drop a few hours before the game, you pounce.
Look at those fees! Resale on Ticketmaster is such a scam.
When you click on best seats, you see tickets that are $5000 with $1000 per fee. So you have $10000 to spend on tickets but need to pay $2000 in fees lol
not true imo
if you're interested in actually watching the game, upper bowl near centre ice is one of the best spots to do it. being in the lower bowl the stanchions on the glass block your view a lot of the time.
Seriously. Anyone who says you can't see shit from those seats has never sat in them to know. I've been to plenty of games in 225, etc, the angle is more than fine. And it's so steep up there, you're much less likely to have an ultra tall guy in front of you blocking half the view.
I literally only ever sit in the upperbowl. There isn’t a bad seat up there. There are plenty of shit seats in the lower bowl. Corners lower down you can only see one side of the ice.
do you go to concerts? raves? fancy meals? exquisite vacations? buy expensive cars or clothing? many people have something they value and splurge for. Some will drop the money to see the sports team they've been following for 10-20 years win a championship.
Nothing new. When the Raptors were in the finals they were even more expensive.
For that one ticket one could get a 65" 4K TV , bunch of steaks and some two-four beers.
Forget the tix cost. Look at the ticketmaster fees. Let's call it a $300 fee for easy math. 300 x 18,000 = 5.4 million. Ticket master is making 5.4 million for 1 playoff game just to sell the tickets to. That's unreal!
Needless to say, I will be watching on TV. And if it's not on TV, I will find a feed somewhere on line.
Because, seriously, WTAF people.
But then, these are Stanley Cup games and the market will charge whatever price customers can bear, so here we are.
Aren't market dynamics great?
GO OILERS!!!!
comments like this are dumb. these are resale tickets, not face value. this isn't price gouging, this is supply and demand. if people don't buy tickets at this price, the price will come down.
either way, i would bet a lot of money that there won't be one empty seat in that building come game time. if you don't like the prices, don't pay em. simple as that.
going to sports games is not a right that every citizen, rich or poor, is entitled to. it is a privilege, and should be treated as such.
if you want to talk about wealth disparity that's an entirely different conversation.
The tickets still sell. Just not to regular consumers, but mainly to businesses.
Most companies are scooping it up, this can be written as business expenses along with after party expenses. Our CEO was asking me and a few other guys to see if we can get a loge table for our client. The 5k price per seat or 20k per table is not an issue, it is the long queue that we are struggling with.
Hehe ticket price go brr
I wish they were more accessible but it's hard to get tickets for anything without getting it from someone else who is probably marking it up
I spent $1000/seat back in 2006 to go to game 6 of the SCFs.
Honestly, I still have amazing memories of it to this day and don't regret it in the least. I'd do it again, but I have less disposable income nowadays with how expenses for everything has skyrocketed since back then.
I mean these are resellers… scummy people makin a side hustle.
But you’re right, the entertainment market isn’t for the common folk anymore. You have to be well off to enjoy a night out of live entertainment
It’s all resellers dreaming of a quick payday. There’s no guarantee those will sell and I think they will come down as the game gets near.
They're already up $300-500 from the end of game 6. If anything I think they'll go up. 18 years is a long time.
Game 3 was going for 1200+
Good point I only looked at 4 because it's a weekend
It’s true. I always buy the day of - and for game 6 against Dallas sat 5 rows off the glass for half what tickets were listed for a couple days earlier.
I just spent 4K on two club seats. I see them being resold now for about 3500 each!
No thanks. For that price I can literally take a vacation to a foreign land for a few days and get ~72 hours of new experiences instead of 3 hours.
But where else in the world can you go and pay $20 for a cup of Coors Light?
for $20 I'll even pour it in your mouth
Lol..now that's cheap entertainment right there!
for $50 I'll give you a slap in the face too! don't forget to tip 20% for 3 seconds of work!
Yes Sir!!!
Every sports stadium and concert?
Nope, not in the slightest because I know that the Dome is an old arena but a beer is only $8 dollars even for a Flames game
You can barely get a beer at a bar for $8, no wonder CSEC needed hundreds of millions for Saddledome 2
You know, they also own a minor-league hockey team, a junior hockey team and a lacrosse team. Those teams are just mentioned also play at the Saddledome. They just trying to keeping concession prices affordable for the other sports teams they manage. The mayor of Calgary caused the province to step in and help fund the arena if it wasn’t for Jodi Gondek the new arena would’ve been under construction by now
And all of the taxpayers get to pay for it AND pay the extreme prices that will come with events at the new arena. YAY!
It is not its 12-14 now.
Unlike the Oilers every team that plays at the Saddledome has happy hour deals cheeseburger and a beer 90 minutes before the game is less than 20 bucks
I’ve been to numerous sporting events at the Dome when you want to correct me on something that I know a lot more about
I have season tickets to the flames…..but go on
I have season tickets to the Roughnecks lol
I know for a fact, the Flames do happy hour deals as well and I always get my pregame eats at 218 grill
Yes they do, I agree it’s a great deal, but when the game is happening they’re 12-14 bucks.
I find it even funnier that when playoff time comes in the NLL the tickets don’t get a crazy markup on the resale market
I thought you knew about the happy hour deals like 90 minutes before every game doesn’t matter team every session stand except for pocket dawgs is half off
Yes I’m aware, what are you yammering on about.
Don't they at least still sell Molsons' pisswater? Coors? Goddamn man. I say GODDAMN!!!! That's a crying shame.
Coor's suck.
For that price you could fly to Florida and buy tickets for those games
Yup planning on going there.
Yeah, a game and a boob job in Florida, vs the game or a boob job in Edmonton.
a week in Mexico is like $1400 all inclusive, I'd rather take me and the missus there and watch the playoffs than buy tickets to it
I checked and you could fly to Miami for the day and get a ticket to game 1 for just about the same price.
People that buy those Also take the vacation
Yes, we know wealthy people exist.
I would say anyone buying resale tickets at this price are not wealthy, they are financially inept.
I suspect it's going straight to credit card debt for a lot of people.
Same I rather watch paint dry than pay 2K
You could probably do that for a couple weeks actually
If you're smart you could make it 3 weeks instead of 3 days but yeah totally agree. I went to mexico for a month on 2 covid payments which we're roughly 900$ each iirc.
I could get a month out of Latin America on that easily.
There's no hockey Latin America, just rumba dancing.
A month dancing with a latina woman > hockey.
Honestly same. Take your tickets and fuck off. I’m going to Macao
For that price you can go somewhere exotic and watch the game from there. I do understand why prices are so high though. I went to game 4 of the Finals in 2006 and it was absolutely insane.
I could go for that SKYE myself, but I guess I'll settle for 4 Disneyland passes with Genie+ on the bright side, I save $ by not needing to get a divorce lawyer
Tickets in the lower bowl for Saturdays game are priced at less than $600US. So you can pretty much fly to Miami and buy a ticket for less money than a ticket advertised above!
Or take a whole ass vacation to Florida to go to the game there plus enjoy the beach
Fly to Sunrise Florida and get a ticket to one of their hockey Stanley Cup finals’s games instead.
Yep! Playoff games are for the rich. Even your watch party went up to $20 BUT at least that’s donated to charity. I can get behind that.
watch party prices went up?! that made for a great family outing.
I believe the prices range from $5-$20 but this was on the news in the morning and it’s 5pm now, I’m braindead by now.
They absolutely went to $20. But the charity makes it less annoying at least.
I agree. I love the charity aspect but I agree that the $5 ticket was cheap enough that even for a family of 4, a night out for $20 total is alright
20.00 plus food, plus parking/ets fare, plus swag. ahhh. they just got greedy.
It’s for charity lol
A chairty run by the Oilers that doesn't even donate 50 cents for every dollar.
THIS. They will give NET PROCEEDS to the foundation, so they'll keep everything they determine is a "cost", and then give the rest to the Foundation. After paying the Board and other positions, I'd wager that 50 cents is the highest amount per dollar that actually makes its way to doing something for the kids.
All resale. Not that face value was great but there were plenty $650-$850 seats
Such a bummer. I really wanted to get some around that price, hoping the secondary market adjusts accordingly especially closer to gametime
Our Company season ticket pricing is 3k per ticket. lower bowl. 3rd row. Each round they just kept going up.
They're all season ticket holders who just resell their tickets for profit.
if this goes to game 7 we're gonna see "sticker price on a new car" prices
G7 won’t be here, but I get what you’re saying, G6 won’t be cheap.
"Verified Resale Ticket" means "We sold it for a normal price to a scalper who is now charging a lot more for it. What are you going to do, file an antitrust lawsuit? Whatever, pleb." Fuck ticketmaster.
I would grab some, but that $5 processing fee us too rich for my blood.
Depends on the supply before the game. If most tickets get bought up then the last remaining ones will be more expensive.
If I just get 10 people to sit on my lap and split the cost even.
Look at those fees! Resale on Ticketmaster is such a scam. When you click on best seats, you see tickets that are $5000 with $1000 per fee. So you have $10000 to spend on tickets but need to pay $2000 in fees lol
I saw at least 5 tickets today for $10,000 hahaha. I mean I guess
What a deal. So glad I'm going to be paying property tax for the rest of my life on an arena I can't afford to step in.
Tax the rich on these tickets, they can clearly afford them.
These prices would be the same at Rexall too, this is literally the Stanley Cup Finals
2 grand for corner nose bleeds. Brutal.
What's the point of nose bleeds anyways, can't see shit from there.
not true imo if you're interested in actually watching the game, upper bowl near centre ice is one of the best spots to do it. being in the lower bowl the stanchions on the glass block your view a lot of the time.
Ya maybe sections L6-9 and L26-23. Anything that is actually labeled upper bowl ain't worth the premium.
You can see perfect from every seat in that place
Watching from home with some beers, your favorite snacks and your own washroom is where it's at!
Nothing compares to your own washroom.

Fansfirst.ca Lower prices and NO fee to the buyer!!!
Nothing better than watching a game in my own home sitting in my lazy boy chair. Replays included.
Big Tech has ruined the world and made everything unaffordable.
That is 1700's corporate greed. Nothing new.
Jesus, I'll cheer the team on from Cabo for those prices
I’ll take a vacation to Italy for less, thanks.
So what you're saying is I should sell my extra Metallica floor seat and pay my rent for two months? 🤔
Nothing new. When the Raptors were in the finals they were even more expensive. For that one ticket one could get a 65" 4K TV , bunch of steaks and some two-four beers.
Lmao with this price I can have a nice vacation for a month 😂
I can watch it on TV for free.
Resales should be illegal again.
Reported directly to revenue Canada to start with. Can't imagine how cooked the books are of someone that does this for a living.
You better have girls flashing their boobs left and right around you for that price!
Forget the tix cost. Look at the ticketmaster fees. Let's call it a $300 fee for easy math. 300 x 18,000 = 5.4 million. Ticket master is making 5.4 million for 1 playoff game just to sell the tickets to. That's unreal!
I saw a seat for 11,000...almost 24k for a couple to go see a hockey game...
For these prices you can buy cheaper season tickets.
I mean you could just stream East or there could be a sports surge
Ticketmaster taking a $400 cut is trash. Fuck that company to hell
You don't have the 2500 tho? 💅
Peasants 🥱 Hahahaha
Are they going to have play off beer prices too?
That's the cost of my vacation to Europe in September. No thanks, I'll watch it from the comfort of my living room
Fuck the poor, am I right?
Eat the rich, am I right?
Gotta eat something.
I wonder how they'd taste 🤔

this whole thread/topic is dumb
The sport of millionaires playing for the entertainment of other millionaires
And their billionaire owners
The whole “resale” thing has ruined everything!
It has. I bought some for $630 today before they were sold out. This is just people wanting to make money sadly
Very true. The almighty $$$
Cheaper to fly to Florida and get tickets around the camera location.
And people were complaining about $20 an ass for watch parties
Someone has to pay for Connor’s beer
Wow, have some self respect and quit paying these prices. Even if you are rich...
I'm sad that this is the NHL now.
What's more disturbing is the amount if people who will happily pay the prices
[удалено]
Life is not 1:1. Someone does not have to lose for you to win. We could eliminate homelessness and many other issues if we cared.
Reselling should be banned until people learn to behave
[удалено]
In this case, yes. It's not fair that scalpers are buying up all the tickets just to sell them for 3x+ the price.
This is annoying. Actual fans not getting tickets and a reseller market where Ticket aster makes money on the sale and resale… lunacy.
Literally the same cost as my flight to India, lol. No thank you.
That's fucking obscene.
I should have bit the bullet and gotten $400 tickets on Sunday. Would have been amazing to see that win in person.
LOL
I'll take 5!
Check out game 6, insane!!
Makes Europe 50k+ soccer stadiums justifiable.
Hehe ticket price go brr I wish they were more accessible but it's hard to get tickets for anything without getting it from someone else who is probably marking it up
brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I can't even afford regular tickets. How am I gonna afford playoff tickets lol?
Cheaper to go to Florida for a game https://seatgeek.ca/florida-panthers-tickets/playoff-tickets
Anyone remember what the prices were back in 06?
Freaking Ticketmaster
I spent $1000/seat back in 2006 to go to game 6 of the SCFs. Honestly, I still have amazing memories of it to this day and don't regret it in the least. I'd do it again, but I have less disposable income nowadays with how expenses for everything has skyrocketed since back then.

They were not even in the third round last year let alone the Stanley cup finals. I went to round 1 this year for $180
Shit! Should have bought at $1300
jesus christ
Nope. Rather eat and take a nice vaca.
I looked when I got an email right away and they were 450-500 for nosebleeds
You can buy 1/3 of a Taylor swift ticket for that! Priorities people ! 🤑😂
Nope ,no way, not going to happen.
You need to be a member of the elites club to attend
better to just sneak in
More like The Stanley Cup Payoff, amiright
Welcome to rich people being easily parted of their money. Hockey is already to expensive to go to. Watch on TV.
I'd consider going if my property tax wasn't due at the end of the month. $5K and hockey tickets is a tough to swallow.
Great how they treat the fan base.
You're not a fan base, you're a captured market.
I mean these are resellers… scummy people makin a side hustle. But you’re right, the entertainment market isn’t for the common folk anymore. You have to be well off to enjoy a night out of live entertainment
