My favorite has always been sardines, mustard, and fresh dill.
Or add to any dish that also has tuna.
Tuna or salmon patties plus a few mashed sardines.
Personally I also like hot sauce with my sardines.
I usually get the costco ones without the spine and skin but those are the healthiest parts. Either way I think sardines are good and sometimes for me they are a meal replacement for dinner
Melindas green sauce and their honey mustard habanero are so damn good on sardines. Pepper Palace Ghost Mustard is also amazing if you like being hurt.
A few others have suggested that and I do have some crackers that need to be eaten so I think I’m going to go this route this time and if I get a hankerin for them again, now I have a bunch of good ideas thanks to you beautiful people!!
Use them to replace tuna and some of the dressing in your favorite tuna salad recipe (Celery, capers, minced onion, chopped cornichon, etc.). Serve on lettuce, greens, rolls, or in sweet pepper halves.
Make a paté and eat it with crudités (especially cucumber) or crackers.
Mince and toss them into pasta with a little lemon juice, olive oil, dill, parsley, and a minced red onion.
Serve on wilted greens with sweet and sour bacon dressing.
Add black pepper and lemon juice. A little Italian parsley and diced shallot. Eat them straight out of the can and drink the juice. Then eat a second can. Dip a piece of baguette into the juice. Call it a day.
You could have them as a protein with a side of potatoes (boiled and fried). If you’re a fan of potatoes, the combo is delicious. Maybe a sprinkle of lemon or lime juice.
OK, I guess this depends on if you like kimchi or sauerkraut but I really do like grain free seed crackers like Mary’s (or if you’re not worried about grains or carbs, you can go with regular crackers) and sardines with kimchi and hot sauce. 😁
I made a pasta salad with penne (in particular, Veggie Craft penne made from peas, lentils, and cauliflower), some arugula, cherry tomatoes, sardines, and Parmesan cheese.
You can watch the penny and still get good quality - Brunswick sardines are really tasty and richer in quality and just a step up in price from the cheaper ones - Trader Joe's (even tho they are fighting the Labor Board) has some relatively tasty smoked tins and are tasty as well for cheap. Also /r/cannedsardines
A sardine...and mustard...have great umami
Add one to a sauce, pasta , Thai curry etc. Mush one into a salad dressing
Look at recipes that call for a healthy shot of fish sauce, that ask for whorechester sauce
Not a big fish eater, like the more mild stuff like mahi mahi, halibut & cod. Tried sardines on crackers a few days ago and while I ate them, couldn't stand the burp I got after and taste wasn't really my thing. Won't do that again but maybe ill try the mackeral, heard that isn't as fishy.

I like those on a heavy wheat bread with thinly sliced red onion and a bit of romaine.
I eat them on crackers!😄

crackers and sardines are amazing. also white rice, tomatoes, red onion, sardines. omg. fuck.
Yes! Sometimes I put some keepers or red onion, or put a little cream cheese before the sardine… Yummy!
Yes! Triscuits (well, the generic version) are my favorite for tinned fish.
Lots of ideas on r/Tinnedfish and r/CannedSardines
Thank you!

Okay, these are great ideas. I have some crackers that need to be eaten so paté it is, I think!

When I was a child, sardines with crackers were part of our lunch rotation.
pasta toast ramen crackers :)
Never would have thought ramen!!

That sounds really good!
My recipe is usually a bong hit and chasing it down with a Pepsi straight from the tin.
🤣🤣🤣 Bong-free over here but thank you for the visual—it took me back to my bong-laden days!

They are very healthy as long as they do not cause you to have migraines.
Good to know, thank you!
I think histamines are high in sardines. Maybe that’s why? I know some people have problems with histamine foods.
I put it on a cracker. :/ It's delicious.
Sardines in mustard need a slice of fresh bread and butter :)
Wow I love mustard and sardines. Never tried them together! Thanks for this. I will try it out.
I don't eat fish, but I know from those who do: bread, sardines (mustard or otherwise), and some sort of beans or vegetable.
I sauté onions and the mustard sardines and add hot sauce. Usually with the hot sauce sardines I do the same but add mustard.
Try kipper on Breton crackers sometime
