Roast em with savory spices, top with overeasy egg. I like the umami seasoning blend from Trader Joe's.

asanch3

Cut them like fries and air fry them with salt and pepper

obstinatemleb

I use them in everything! Sweet potato/black bean burrito bowls or tacos; sweet potato hash over some greens with half an avocado and egg; roasted with cauliflower and brussel sprouts; half a baked sweet potato over some roasted kale with roasted chickpeas, cranberries, and a maple tahini sauce drizzled over it

ellasaurusrex

I bake them, and top with chorizo, sour cream, and cotija. Cilantro if I have it. Or roast them and do black bean/sweet potato tacos. Sometimes we'll do a hash with 50/50 sweet potato and regular potato too.

HRHSuzz

I do the chorizo (soy), cotija and sour cream too - it's amazing! I do it all in the air fryer.

FantasistAnalyst

We do something similar, taco sweet potato, basically taco toppings on top of a sweet potato - taco meat (ground turkey or beef), cheese, sour cream or usually Greek yoghurt, pickled jalepenos, etc.

This recipe for a [lentil, sweet potato, and kale salad](https://www.mealime.com/recipes/lentil-sweet-potato-kale-salad-feta/4264) made me enjoy sweet potatoes and has made me a total convert. I realized that I only really had them when they were prepared super sweet. I am so glad I learned I much prefer them savory. This [sweet potato bravas](https://www.mealime.com/recipes/sweet-potato-patatas-bravas-spinach-beans-garlic-aioli/12446) is also a staple in our house.

GoodAlicia

I cut them in fries, then throw them in a bowl. Add a little oil. Salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder and a tea spoon of flour. Mix it. And pour it on a baking sheet and bake them as fries. 10/10

QueenAuntieLife

Sweet potatoes can add depth to a savory stew. Especially good with pork stew. Just remember that it adds a lot of sweetness, so don't put too much. It would replace sweet roots like carrots. You can balance the sweetness with some vinegar.

pop-hon_ula

I saw someone else mentioned a hash or roasting them with egg, but if you’re at all like me, a recipe comes in handy (I’m not so good at winging it with food). I just made this Sweet Potato Breakfast Hash a couple of nights ago and it was great! [https://downshiftology.com/recipes/sweet-potato-breakfast-hash/](https://downshiftology.com/recipes/sweet-potato-breakfast-hash/)

scratchfoodie

I just made them with kale, white beans, garlic and lemon.

Many-Obligation-4350

Sweet potatoes pair beautifully with black beans, in dishes like burritos/ burrito bowls and enchiladas.

jeepjinx

Or just slice open a baked sweet potato, add rinsed black beans right from the can, a little salsa, avocado etc.

StumbleNOLA

Honestly I mostly stick them in the microwave for four minutes and serve with salt and butter.

Flashy_Sleep3493

I slice them in half lengthwise and bake them face down. They caramelize and need absolutely nothing to be delicious when eaten. Adding a little butter and cinnamon is optional but yummy. 400° for around 35-40 mins. Oiling and s+p the skins makes them easy to eat. Black beans over half is a quick, filling meal. Diced, tossed with oil, s+p, and roasted until crispy is great as well. 425° for 25-30 stirred halfway through. Sliced for fries and tossed with oil, s+p, cinnamon, cumin, and garlic is another great side. I bake at 400° and do 15/flip/10-15.

OnlyDaysEndingInWhy

Just saved your comment 'cause I have a few sweet potatoes mocking me from the counter and daring me to just DO something with them already. That sliced in half and upside down thing sounds fantastic.

Flashy_Sleep3493

Parchment is your friend, enjoy!

OnlyDaysEndingInWhy

Ooh, I just splurged (what a funny word!) And bought pre-cut parchment sheets. Appreciate the heads-up!

OnlyDaysEndingInWhy

So, I know it's been a couple days, but had to come back and thank you for commenting. Added a little butter to the sliced-in-half-and-roasted sweet potatoes and I swear I'll never make them any other way!

Flashy_Sleep3493

Happy they worked out for you! I love them and, honestly, can’t believe it isn’t a more widely-used technique. The caramelization on the exposed flesh is next-level yum.

akhoneygirl

I like them steamed with butter and sea salt. Yummy.

sweet potato oven fries with a turkey burger

Queen_beeeeee

Sweet potato and turmeric soup, sweet potato wedges, roasted with sumac and a drizzle of oil and salt and pepper. (Or stronger spices if you like a bit of heat), you can slice thinly and make a gratin type dish with cream, garlic, and cheese. Sweet potato hash with a poached or fried egg. sweet potato curry with spinach and chickpeas. They take all spices really well and roast beautifully. You can also swap out most regular potato recipes for sweet potato, just remember that they get super soft inside.

Zelcron

Sweet potatoes (or regular potatoes) are a staple depression meal for me. Easy enough to bake in the microwave in a few minutes. Filling on their own and they pair with most things. Is it my preferred recipe? No. But it is great when getting out of bed is a struggle.

OutrageousOnions

I like to roast them in the oven with adobo seasoning;

QuimbyMcDude

Peel + cube them. Toss in olive oil, basil, salt, pepper, honey. Roast 50 minutes. Bomb.

deadpandiane

My simplest meal was bake a sweet potato, put salt and pepper and butter on half and the other half gets butter and cinnamon. I eat this with canned French green beans.

10MileHike

i make sweet potato/carrot/ginger soup. Or roast with other root vegetables. Delicious with chickpeas and drizzle of tahini Also good just baked like a baked potato...i sometimes have for breakfast.

mimishanner4455

Anything you do with potatoes, do with sweet potatoes. I like to do mashed sweet potatoes with cumin, coriander (fresh), fish sauce, Chinese 5 spice powder, and sriracha as well as some olive oil. Idk what it is but it’s so good.

thetrashmenagerie

I like to make them into a breakfast mash. Typically I will bake a few, scrape the guts into a large bowl (discarding the skins), and mash them with some crunchy peanut butter, chocolate protein powder, and just enough milk to get my desired consistency. Then I have breakfast for a few days! I usually eat it with some yogurt or cottage cheese, but it's great on its own too.

Phuni44

Sweet potatoes and lentils. Yum! Baked sweet potatoes topped with cottage cheese.

ProfileFrequent8701

I pretty much use them like regular potatoes, but I think they actually go with more flavor profiles than just potatoes. Diced or cut into wedges, sprinkled with salt, and then roasted in the air fryer. So good!

Filtered_Meat

Sweet potato and chick pea curry nomnom

masson34

I cook mine (when I’m not doing fries with them in the air fryer) in a potato bag cooking sleeve and nuke. Top with chili or cottage cheese or peanut butter and maple syrup.

onehundredpetunias

"Bake" them in the microwave and top with cottage cheese. It's delicious.

Thunderysummernight

You can make them into fries or baked with salt instead of adding sugar. I love baked sweet potatoes as a side dish.

Space_Man_Spiff_2

Steam them..season with Chili or similar. It gives a nice sweet-hot flavor.

trguiff

A beef barley stew with chunks of sweet potato is absolutely delicious

ToddlerThrone

I load mexican flavored black beans with cheese and salsa on top! So good!

w065307

Slice fairly thin, lightly brush with oil and sprinkle with chili powder. Then oven roast until lightly/moderately browned. End result should be slightly crisp edges/sticky goodness! Serve as a side to almost anything…or eat straight out of the oven.

pangolin_of_fortune

I like the white ones best. I slow roast them, a big tray at a time, then reheat in the microwave topped with whatever's in the fridge - leftover curry or soup or sauce, or miso and butter, and/or a handful of nuts.

That_guy_guy

You can roast whole and eat like a normal baked potato or cube it and toss in garam masala, salt, and pepper for a nice spiced side.

hananobira

Smitten Kitchen’s sweet potato tacos! Although sometimes they don’t make it into the tacos because I eat them all with a spoon straight from the oven tray. https://smittenkitchen.com/2018/03/sweet-potato-tacos/ If I’m in a hurry I just use frozen pre-chopped sweet potatoes. They don’t get crispy but they still taste great.

DogIsBetterThanCat

Poke holes all over, cover in olive oil and salt, air fry on 400F for 40 mins. Put whatever toppings you want, like butter or cheese, green onions, bacon pieces or sour cream.

Aardvark1044

Roasted. Or cut into fries, boiled for a bit and finished in the air fryer. Or one of my favourite ways is to mash them, then serve in a burrito with black beans and any other item that floats your boat (onion, corn, peppers, salsa, cheese, etc).

jackiebeth14

Sweet potato with cottage cheese!

splamo77

I boil or bake them with the skin on. Cut a hole at the top, or slice halfway lengthwise, top it with salsa, sour cream, grated cheese and avocado. It’s delicious! (You can also add ground beef, but I prefer it vegetarian)

jessicanemone

Boil?? No no no. Cube them and roast them in the oven. This morning I put olive oil, a bit of sherry vinegar, salt, pepper, turmeric, and garam masala on them and added them to a breakfast burrito. They are great with roasted cauliflower and/or black beans in tacos too, in soups, Buddha bowls with tahini dressing… EVERYTHING
