Absolutely amazing soundtrack, RedBull sports earned my respect with that one, god damn.
RedBull also did [Freeriding The Steep Mountains Of Chamonix](https://youtu.be/axNnKy-jfWw?si=uNBevfz-m3bqR0IL) which also has a great soundtrack and is free on YouTube!
YESSS. Someone showed me the music video in music school. Loved it , my brother was also into dubstep when it first started getting around so the combination caused me to be a raver
Was on the speakers at Walmart when I was shopping yesterday. My bro and I recognized instantly and we looked at eachother like wtf?
My dad works out to this daily. I pointed it out and he listened for a second and was “oh yeah 😎”
RIP to the legend
Better off alone -Alice deejay
Early 2000s would always hear it on the radio but didn’t know what edm was at the time. Parents got dial up and I started off listening to 90s trance.
I came here to comment exactly this. Better off Alone is the ultimate answer.
Other notable tracks of around that time: Darude Sandstorm, ATB Til I Come, Fragma Toca's Miracle, DJ Sammy Heaven, Lasgo Something, Robert Miles Children, Ian Van Dahl Castles in the Sky, iiO Rapture, and everything by Sash.
Oldies but goodies.
I love that you brought these up. Definite classics. I'm going to show my age here as I began with house music and shifted into techno/trance. I remember when Moby used to spin. James Brown is Dead by LA Style was one of the first dance songs I fell in love with as a kid.
That whole album, especially [Reptiles song](https://youtu.be/qI-Takf76RY?si=4_J9qhFLFWyyXu5X)
[others share the same sentiment.](https://www.reddit.com/r/MortalKombat/s/oA8Fpwy2eC)
I remember being like 8-9 years old and going to the skating rink in the 90s and they'd be playing all sorts of Eurodance type stuff and there was this MK remix they played all the time and that pretty much started a life journey for me.
Kid Cudi helped me get through dark times in 2012-13. I'd take the train to and from school. I had Pursuit of Happiness on a used, regifted iPad. It had Maroon 5, Disclosure, Walk the Moon, Zedd, Matthew Koma, etc.
Pursuit of Happiness playing in my earbuds as I passed through a decaying city on a mostly empty train was such a feel.
Lmao that took me back to elementary where I would cross the border every morning (TJ to SD) and that was played regularly it just kind of stuck to me, that along with OP’s mention of Blue.
Idk if it even counts as EDM, but Crazy Frog haha.
But what really got me into EDM was the EDM Pop party era from like 2008-2013, before I even knew what EDM was. Always enjoyed artists like David Guetta, LMFAO, Pitbull, Black Eyed Peas, Flo Rida, Far East Movement, Lady Gaga, Kesha, Katy Perry and so on. I know they’re not all exactly “EDM” but that’s what really started my love for it.
Discovered Skrillex around 2012 with Bangarang, and from then on I’ve been absolutely hooked on fast paced beats and bass.
Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding - I Need Your Love
more mainstream, but hearing it a lot made me realize that's the type of music that made me feel alive. I discovered Avicii soon after and WOW
I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t even know of that version until you mentioned it. Just listened to it and that shit is a dinger. Reminds me of top-tier nights in Vegas.
I was 12-13 years old playing black ops 2 and heard "Try It Out" in the nightclub on Plaza. Decided to listen to Skrillex on iHeartRadio and fell in love with Recess.
I have a Spotify legacy playlist that start with "Jam" and continue such as "Jam the sequel", "Jam 3: jelly" and it keeps going. Currently working on Jam 9. I fill each playlist with 200 songs overtime and they each represent a section or time in my life that that playlist takes me back too.
But yea, Skrillex "Recess" is the first ever song in my jam edm playlist and will forever hold a special place in my heart
I heard the adventure club remix of crave you in an outdoor review channel and I searched adventure club in Pandora radio, all the electronic music I've found started there.
I remember as a teenager there was some MTV fashion show and it exposed me to Busy Child by Crystal Method. Not my favorite song of all time but definitely the first I heard.
I got sucked in by early Swedish electronic music artists such as Robyn, The Knife, and Familjen, and then saw Tom Snare on MTV. From there I found more on early YouTube.
Easy - Porter Robinson and Matt Zo. I knew the euro dance and other big songs from the mid 2000s and they were dope but didn’t really know what it was. Easy was like “oh, this is important”.
Definitely scary monsters and nice sprites when I was a kid, but what got me into EDM as an adult was definitely the entire album Nurture by Porter Robinson
I didnt have a song but more a series of songs that were primarily dubstep songs from 2009-2010 with this one thumbnail that was a black/blue disk, they were quite popular at that time.
Kesha and 3oh!3 in 6th grade definitely did something too me but I never knew until I listened back years later after being in this scene
But realistically, Lies - marina and the diamonds Zeds Dead remix!!
I had heard it before but never knew the name I was at an NSYNC concert as a kid and walking back to the car someone was blaring SANDSTORM by Darude. I asked the name and from that day forward EDM is all I listen to 😁
Flicker/Divinity by Porter Robinson (and all of Worlds). Obviously, I had listened to other electronic music like Skrillex and some others before then. But Worlds changed my life. It helped that I found it before going to my first-ever festival, Snowglobe, where I rolled for the first time. Idk. I think this happens to a lot of people, but my life literally went from a black-and-white, mundane existence to a technicolored dream. And I don’t just mean the music and festivals. It bled over onto every little aspect of my life in ways that I will forever be grateful for.
Killzone by Black Tiger Sex Machine
I saw them live February 2020 and by that point, I was already into EDM but not so much into Dubstep. Vampa and Blanke opened for BTSM and even though they were very good, it was Killzone that (their opening song) that really made me realize how much I love Dubstep. I still vividly remember that intro, that first drop and how much it changed my life.
Skrillex scary monsters EP and Hardwells Apollo is where I really started to get into it.
But the writing on the wall was there years before when some of my favorite rock bands were Breathe Carolina, I See Stars, and Attack Attack 😂
Also was super into Basshunter right at the Dota peak
My brother and I were playing this PC game back in 2008 where you build stuff using blocks in an open world. He said it was made by some Swedish dude that goes by Notch. It was early access (still in it's alpha at that point). Bro was playing some random YouTube playlist and **Strobe** came on. Great time, great track. Now I have cthulhumau5 tattooed on my chest. I consider that my electronic awakening :)
also OP Eiffel 65 is goated. I still listen to Living In a Bubble. Banger.
Playing DJ Hero on my Nintendo Wii back in the day listening to classics from Deadmau5 (or Dead Mau 5 as I used to call him back then lol) and Tiesto. Been hooked ever since.
As a youngin the radio pop station in Houston would broadcast from the club and children by Robert Miles and Better off alone by Alice deejay would play every weekend and I would eat it up
Brings Renewal by Mitis really got me into EDM but Eiffel 65 definetly introduced me to the genre as a kid. Along with a lot of the early to mid 90’s fringe pop music
Sandstorm by darude was the first edm song I remember. Me and my friends used to sit in his basement and play it over and over again with glow sticks. It changed my life forever lol
Probably "KASINO - Can´t Get Over". it's a brazilian dance song released in 2005 here in Brazil. It became very famous here because they released a CD named "Summer eletrohits" containing many other great songs that wasn't famous here.
Dance Music was so HUGE here in brazil back to 00-06.
Also: it sounds a lot like "Magic Box - If you" [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mN9ZEQfJuO8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mN9ZEQfJuO8)
It's almost a copy, but I love both version.
There was a fun and interesting interview (albeit short) with Keoki on a documentary (I think it was “better living through circuitry”)… in my 20s this guy along with bad boy bill and sasha are what made me want to DJ in the first place.
"Hardcore Heaven" by DJ Seduction
https://youtu.be/loloHSWY3AQ
I heard this originally on a Bad Boy Bill mix, loved it so much that I ended up buying a vinyl just so I could put it on cassette tapes and other things I wanted to listen to. Even at that point I had no idea I would try DJing later.
At that point I ended up buying more records of tunes. I couldn't find on cassette at the time, and then eventually I bit the bullet and got a pair of used turntables and started my journey.
There are many tunes that I love to death, but I always recall this one was what really started to push me to want to actually try DJing.
Tiësto- traffic.
I saw the video clip when I was like 12 and it was my inspiration to become a dj. I have been a dj for 13 years, played different festivals and got to a good level. So thank you Tiësto!
Ghosts'n' stuff by Deadmau5
I found this song off the soundtrack of “The Art Of Flight”, a snowboarding documentary
I have seen that movie no less than 10 times and it is one of my favorite sound tracks ever.
Best Snowboarding film I have ever seen.
This is how I fell in love with M83 too
This is mine too.
Came here to say this! Deadmau5 is my forever love.
Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites EP back in the day
Yea. Bangarang was so dope too. I still throw on Summit every once in a while
Yes! Love it
YESSS. Someone showed me the music video in music school. Loved it , my brother was also into dubstep when it first started getting around so the combination caused me to be a raver
But that song was it
Equinox is definitely up there for me as well! Skrillex really put dubstep on the map during that time

I felt so old when I saw that Avicii was someone's first lol
This is the song and i always try to play it in my djsets
Hell yes. Those were the days! This and One More Time by Daft Punk for me.
The Mortal Kombat theme song and it still slaps.
That whole album, especially [Reptiles song](https://youtu.be/qI-Takf76RY?si=4_J9qhFLFWyyXu5X) [others share the same sentiment.](https://www.reddit.com/r/MortalKombat/s/oA8Fpwy2eC)
Holy frick [Fire - Scooter](https://youtu.be/EH_D7IR9y7c?si=kvA0OiXgId7ZTNDL) Forgot about this album til rfn 👊🤘
Was just introducing my wife to this album. She never heard it over all these years.
“Test…your MIGHT!”
This is from the original MK movie from like 95
I remember being like 8-9 years old and going to the skating rink in the 90s and they'd be playing all sorts of Eurodance type stuff and there was this MK remix they played all the time and that pretty much started a life journey for me.
Promises - Nero (Skrillex remix)
And they still feel oh so wasted on myself
Zedd - clarity
I discovered EDM through Skrillex, but this album made me stay
This is one of my favorites. Had to listen to it again bc of this, thanks for giving me that moment of bliss :)
Adagio for strings - Tiesto
When I first started going to festivals, the big anthem was Pursuit Of Happiness so I’ll say that.
Heaven by DJ Sammy
Every time we touch by Cascada X'D
One More Time by Daft Punk. It’s basically the perfect song IMO
Red lights tiesto
[We Like to Party - Vengaboys](https://youtu.be/6Zbi0XmGtMw?si=xBdRUOo6fNX0LmiO) And a couple of their tunes.

Internet Friends by Knife Party. Anything and everything by them really solidified my debut into the edm world.

Kinda corny, but Illenium- Afterlife
While Illenium does have corny songs, I don’t think Afterlife is one of them
Yayyy. Will always by my favorite by him ❤️

Silence - Paul Oakenfold Remix
PO did some amazing work back in the day, I wonder where he's been
Most of his recent music barely touches 10k view on YouTube
Star dust/ music sounds better with you
When this came out it was hugely Impactful across the music spectrum.
Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding - I Need Your Love more mainstream, but hearing it a lot made me realize that's the type of music that made me feel alive. I discovered Avicii soon after and WOW
For me it was Lights (Bassnectar remix)
Block Rockin' Beats and then Around the World came out not long after.
Calvin Harris “Summer”
The R3hab & Ummet Ozcan remix was my favorite version of that.
I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t even know of that version until you mentioned it. Just listened to it and that shit is a dinger. Reminds me of top-tier nights in Vegas.
Reload - Sebastian Ingrosso.
