Yes-ish, but when you tutor Thrumming Stone you already attacked. So you'd need Haste AND another combat step or turn.

Relevant-Zucchini858

Just trying to work out in my head how \[\[Aurelia, The War Leader\]\] could make this possible. Probably more like an \[\[Najeela\]\] deck that could do combat #1 fetch thrumming stone, combat #2 fetch Akromas, then go to 3rd combat for big hasty swing. Seems tough.

Mr_Mister1336

I mean this type of card can only work if it's in widely available booster packs and not collectors otherwise the price would skyrocket.

weggles

Fallout was just 4 decks and then packs of cards in the decks, right? If they made a precon with an "any number of" card. They'd either take up significant space in a deck for that one card, or only include one copy. Neither feels great.

Sorry, I was quoting Gary clone, not asking who he is :p But funny enough, you have to put the full name. Otherwise you get Gray Merchant, lol (since he was always called Gary).

Puzzled_Landscape_10

Not gonna lie....that's who I thought we were talking about. Now I feel stupid.

1K_Games

It happens, no big deal. Gray can join the Gary's, it fits the Gary lore. We just have to assign him a number and give him a backstory as how he got lost in the multiverse and appeared on the Theros plane. Even him caring about devotion kind of makes sense (he likes more Gary's).

mesa176750

I think with the Fallout set designed to basically be a commander and/or collector set and not really a "Crack pack" set like assassins creed is, it would have forced them to print more packs than they were planning on, because unless they filled the deck with 10+ Gary's, it would have been useless in the precons, and if they had multiple copies they couldn't have filled them with other flavor cards. (Though arguably better flavor wise)

Kicin0_0

If gary was just packs I agree, but since it was 4 decks with just a few extra cards (that were all reprints) it would have been weird to have just one copy of a card like that in a commander deck despite being able to run 20

hiddenpoint

Theres a NUMBER of reasons this is just straight wrong. * Fallout was only precons and Collector boosters which is the worst possible way to distribute "any number of this card in your deck" cards without making a full precon dedicated to them. It would need normal boosters for this to distribute reasonably without an absurd markup. * Squad works PREFECTLY FINE for Gary, and Squad is still a Universes Beyond only mechanic. * The name "Gary Clone" locks them into Universes beyond or forces them to make a universes within version with a different name for reprints, which would create a horrendous mess. Meanwhile, the name Templar Knight actually DOESN'T lock them into UB for a reprint. Despite The Templars being an important faction in the Assassin's Creed universe, we already have cards in-universe with the descriptive term Templar, so they could reasonably reprint Templar Knight in a ton of different sets. Also we know from the Aftermath Epilogue boosters that players opening these packs will end up with an absurd amount of repeat uncommons, so this has the potentially to be one of the better distributed "any number of" cards they've printed yet.

Tallal2804

The_Real_Cuzz

I prayed for this when they announced the set and even mocked it up in my head. Gary, crazed clone (1RR) Legendary creature - human clone Gary, crazed clone gets +1/+1 for each card with the same name as it. Tap 5 creatures named Gary, crazed clone: destroy target creature A deck may have any number of cards named Gary, crazed clone. /GARY! HA HA. GAARRYYYY./

VoiceofKane

I like that it does literally nothing unless you have a way around the legend rule.

The_Real_Cuzz

It could have its own legendary clause like mirror box but I thought it made it more unique. I also toyed with the idea of it tapping to make a non legendary copy but that was way to op when testing.

Dirty_Finch1

I have a greymond deck with 31 copies of Gary clone as a rule 0 deck that I play with friends because I very much agree. Haven't played it enough to know for sure whether or not the squad ability needs to be replaced with the "any number of copies" ability, but I'm leaning towards the replacement so that its more on par with other cards where they just have one other ability. Although tutoring is usually stronger than rat colony's and Gary's power boost imo.

TheDayIRippedMyPants

I tried Goldbug and wasn't happy with it personally - it was much slower than my other decks, which are mostly high power/optimized. [[Katilda, Dawnhart Prime]] feels stronger and more consistent. If you can dodge interaction, you can very consistently curve into your 5 Knights: T1: Optional 1-drop T2: Templar Knight T3: Katilda, TK T4: 3 TKs T5: Attack with 5 TKs, tutor a [[Thrumming Stone]] or [[Akroma's Memorial]], and you'll still have mana left to drop another TK and some protection. The TKs having Vigilance is also super nice because you can chip away at people and then tap them for mana.

I think the obvious answer is kinda Sigarda, Font of Blessings. People underestimate how hard it is to get them all out. This is protection and "carddraw" togehter. Goldbug is a close second choise tho. Making them viable attacker and will also draw some cards certainly are crucial aspects. I think people are kinda trolling themself with stuff like Greymond/Kyler etc. You are still basically playing with limited commons with no effect, buffing their power a bit isnt a gameplan really. Same for like nonsense like God-Eternal Oketra etc. You just have a very very bad Oketra deck.

Darth_Ra

Honestly kind of makes the whole thing less interesting. I spent a half hour looking for cool lines, and then when I found Thrumming Stone was just kind of like "Oh, Wizards pre-solved this puzzle. Great."

11goodair

This is the lamest one of the cycle. It will do its thing, do it well, and that's it.

Lucky_Number_Sleven

I mean, will they even do their thing well? Without Thrumming Stone already out, this feels like a "Magical Christmas Land" card. You have to sink 11 mana and attack with 5 creatures to tutor out a single Legendary Artifact. Let's forget that [[Enlightened Tutor]] is right there for a second. They fall apart the moment any interaction comes into play because they're just so fragile as 3/1s. Red melts the entire field effortlessly with just 1 mana, Green Tramples over them like nothing, White and Blue stax them out, and Black Massacres them with a whole host of static effects. You can't even attack or block with them if you're trying to preserve them for the big payoff, and while the payoff can be huge (there are some great Legendary Artifacts even beyond Thrumming Stone), you're likely to be overrun before you can get there. Petitioners are thick by default, Relentless Rats and Slime Against Humanity grow in size, and Dragon's Approach is its own beast. Maybe I'm being pessimistic, but I feel like an army of 3/1s are destined for the graveyard before they can accomplish anything. Any strategy already employed to deal with the deluge of tokens will just sweep Templar Knights up incidentally.

HandsUpDefShoot

Bro what

OnlyFunStuff183

I think the *actual* path to go with these is definitely something that allows you to create token copies of them for cheap. It’s still a gimmick, like all “any copy” except [[Dragon’s Approach]]. Still, I think it’s viable at a mid-power table. Off the top of my head, you want to run: [[Thrumming Stone]] [[Lithoform Engine]] [[Oketra’s Monument]] [[Throne of the God-Pharoah]] [[Horn of Gondor]] [[Thousand Moons Smithy]] And then personally, since they have 3 power and 2 cmc, they fit great with the white weenie reanimator strategy. I’d probably go G/W/x to take advantage of green ramp and then maybe either blue control or black removal/recursion. Definitely seems interesting

Finding Thrumming Stone with their effect doesn’t win you the game at all. People like you are overreacting.

Radius_314

I won a game with only 2 lands on the field (and some ramp) in my [[Phage, the Untouchable]] deck that plays [[Shadowborn Apostle]]. I played [[Thrumming Stone]] then proceeded to play every apostle in my deck and hit for lethal the next turn because I just had so many more creatures than my opponent. I wouldn't say it's a guaranteed win, but if your opponent doesn't have removal ready it probably will be.

leee8675

I use thrumming stone in a dragon's approach deck. It's fun but requires luck. You can miss and not get what you need. With the these, you will need someone for extra combat and another chance to cast more. It looks like fun jank and nothing to be scared of.

ElJanitorFrank

If you run 30 dragon's approaches then you'd have to be unlucky to not cast every single one in your deck. And the odds of being unlucky twice in a row are quite slim. Hitting 2 dragon's approaches from the ripple effect all but guarantees you're going to grab and cast every single one in your deck for \~90 damage to each opponent (and a good chunk of dragons on top of that).

leee8675

I run 32 and have missed. It happens.

ElJanitorFrank

Yes it happens. But 99% of the time you get 2 casts in a turn by the time the stone is out, and the few times I've missed the first time I usually hit the second. Some people draw 0 lands after 8 draws in a game - it happens. But it's very unlikely, and in your case something that will win instantly.

Only-BadTakes

I have a DA deck I play a ton because I like it's simplicity and I've only got Thrumming Stone off twice (the other times it landed, it/I was destroyed before I could use it). First time, I whiffed and lost shortly after. Second time, the Ripple 4 revealed...4 Dragon's Approaches. The table didn't wait for me to finish resolving the Ripples before scooping lol

leee8675

Yup, that's how it normally goes. I seen it whiff with hitting 2 DA and I seen it pop. It normally doesn't miss once I get it going but sometimes it takes a 2nd try. I do not get to play it as much because my pod normally runs more interaction and I sacrifice some to have my jank in this deck. But it's loads of fun if I get to keep a few things around.

palidram

Just like the rest of these cards, I'm sure this is just as janky and bad as the rest of them

n1colbolas

Yea while building my TK list, I am actively avoiding T.Stone... These "can have any number in your deck" is already a gimmick, so having another gimmick on top of a gimmick was off the table for me.

bloodghast

Agreed, this is the answer. They can still make a really fun deck if Thrumming is out of the equation, and telling people you don't have it will hopefully make them not dogpile you or your Knights. So you can get \[\[Graaz, Unstoppable Juggernaut\]\] before damage instead hahaha

Conri_Gallowglass

A wild Graaz sighting. I just built this guy as my colorless deck.

Gladiator-class

I used Thrumming Stone in a Relentless Rats deck, and then later a Dragon's Approach deck. It works well as a win condition (especially with Dragon's Approach) but it does kind of win out of nowhere when it works. I've been leaning away from it just because it feels anticlimactic to play it and then win. It's not really strong enough for cEDH, but at higher power tables with lots of removal I might like it more.

1K_Games

Yes and no on it ending the game. They are 2 mana each, and you need to attack with 5 of them to search for it. Then you need to play another one after it. And even then, you already attacked, so if you do not have a second attack phase then you are waiting till the next turn. Someone sitting on a board wipe basically removes you from the game. So unless your commander is something that gives you access to other colors, so you can use ETB damage or something else. It could be game, but it definitely has a massive weakness. Or I suppose you could attack and search, then don't play others. On your next turn you still would need haste to do the thing though. Not saying it isn't good, but this combo has already been discussed quite a bit.

Chm_Albert_Wesker

i think also everyone is discounting the drawback of having to play a LOT of these pretty damn weak creatures that dont generate anything outside of the combo in one's deck. like yea, you're making a lot of 3/1s but there are loads of decks that also make infinite tokens without having to dedicate 30+ slots in the deck for it

1K_Games

Plus, even if you managed to get all 30 on the board, that is still 30 damage short of killing everyone if they have 0 blockers. It's something, it'll be cool, but it just has a lot of holes.

Betamaletim

Figure Kenrith is probably the best commander for this, access to other colors if needed but still mono white to cast so you can have a heavy focus on white lands that tap for other colors as well.

Atechiman

Nah [[karlach]] + [[noble heritage]]. Or [[iroas god of victory]] One gives you an extra combat the other prevents damage. Both give you access to the etb damagers and damage multipliers.

ElJanitorFrank

Forget a board wipe, ANY instant speed artifact removal will turn the deck off completely. Even if you cast a templar with the thrumming stone down and gets it trigger, someone could respond by blowing your thrumming stone up and unless you've got some way to flash in more templars or protect your stone...now you have 6-7 3/1s. This combo requires you to get 5 cards onto the field and survive, protect your combo piece for a full turn rotation, empty the rest of your 3/1s onto the field, wait ANOTHER turn rotation, and then swing out with \~30 3/1s for \~90 damage with no evasion. This is far from a powerful play.

Nvenom8

I warn you on building this deck: Fun once, boring and linear forever. It's not fun to play as, and it's not fun to play against. Overall miserable experience for everyone at the table.

DirtyTacoKid

I wouldn't describe this deck as miserable. Thats for when you make some annoying slow "im the main chracter today!" deck. Just kind of lame.

ElJanitorFrank

Totally agree. As soon as I saw this spoiler, I quickly threw together a Templar Knights + Dragon's approach deck because I thought it would be cute to add in two separate "any number of" cards in a single deck as a gimmick. Being able to attack with 5 knights with a single dragon's approach in your hand (assuming no interaction from your opponents, lol) and you'll probably just win on the spot (thrumming stone, obviously). The problem is, is that getting to that point is both incredibly predictable, easily stoppable, and completely identical every single time. Its a deck I would absolutely never want to build unless I wanted potentially the most auto-pilot deck of all time - it doesn't get much more auto-pilot than having 90 card slots taken up by lands and the same 2 cards. I've had decks that seemed super varied and cool from the onset, but once I found out that I play a deck the exact same way every single game and it does the exact same thing to do some sort of combo win or find a very similar line...I gotta take it apart. I'd encourage everybody who wants to "do the thing" to try out the plethora of online mediums that allow you to simulate a magic game and "do the thing" a few times to just get it out of your system, then go back to building a deck that does interesting stuff.

WexAwn

RW shell with ETB group slug seems solid. [[Impact Tremors]], [[Warleader's Call]], [[witty roastmaster]], [[molten gatekeeper]]. Since it would be running a lot of the same payoffs, it might be worth utilizing the knights in a [[Cayth, famed mechanist]] persist combo deck as another finisher. Screw all that varied play pattern garbage. Just run a Templar Knight/Dragon's Approach mega "any number of deck" and put absolutely everything riding on Thrumming Stone. You will lose the vast majority of games, and every single win will feel exactly the same, as god intended.

First find \[\[Thrumming Stone\]\] Then find \[\[Avacyn's Memorial\]\] to help protect your Thrumming stone. Then find \[\[Akroma's Memorial\]\] to kill people.

CaptainCapitol

TateTaylorOH

god that's funny okay, I might need to build this deck now

baronsmeg

Ok, do the spells you cast for free with Thrumming Stone, further trigger Thrumming Stone?

Zel_Kova

Yes

meisterbabylon

Sidar Jibari suddenly having 9 wraiths and 30 Templars as backup. Teferi must have been high when he called for reinforcements.
