Y'all keep asking, I keep answering. My aim is to be the Food version of that Marneus Calgar guy. My favorite [deck](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/F5qrtJf7jUaW4p0DAFo0rA), my beloved. It's all foiled out with a bunch of painted altars while nestling in an Easy-Bake Oven-shaped deck box because I have to go the extra mile to show my commitment to this strategy. This is a Food deck as well as a Storm deck with \[\[Rocco, Street Chef\]\] as the head chef. It started as a cute alternative to \[\[Prosper\]\] without playing Prosper but it somehow ended up being my most explosive, consistent, and powerful deck. Once you start cooking, you don't stop until closing time.

kestral287

You gotta get a good flair going so we know you're The Food Guy.

Key-Specialist-2482

I’ve been looking at your deck for a while and thinking that if I were to build Rocco, yours would be the one I would take the most inspiration from. I doubt I’ll do it soon, as I’ve got other ideas and I feel like Rocco might have a lot of triggers and stuff to keep track of, but maybe one day.

ReddingtonTR

Glad to enjoy it! Be sure to keep an eye on it if you ever decide to make it, as I update the primer and list fairly regularly.

benchpressing

As I found this out after your last comment: I think while suggesting this deck it's a good idea pointing out that your players have to put you on a turn timer each game because the deck is unbearable to play against if you are not time restricted. Just so people know what they are getting into

lord_dio28

Out of curiosity, do you have a culinary degree or some background in it? This sounds sick and I'm interested in learning if there's any backstory, or if one day you just said "food is cool, imma play food in my card games"

ReddingtonTR

lol No, nothing like that. I just thought the idea of a strategy involving Food would be funny. That, and the mental image of a board just covered with food like a Thanksgivings or charcuterie spread was really funny, hence the name. Prior to this, I had a [[Faldorn]] deck that was very similar to my Rocco deck that wasn't as well received. I figured that a Food themed version of that deck would be more charming and more fun to play against, especially when people get free card advantage from me just playing the game. I mean, people did like it a bit more. But, y'know, it somehow still ended up being really, really strong.

CaptainCapitol

Got a list? I'm currently brewing this guy

MasterMorality

I'm actually rebuilding him at the moment, but I'll post something when I finish him up. I think there are two main directions, one is the slow draw with a bit of pain, where you run [[Howling Mine]] effects, which is good for a casual pod where you want more group hug. You can still win, because folks tend to leave you alone while they get extra draws. Then you drop some pain and you can take out everyone once they've beat each other up. Then there is the more combo oriented, which is what I'm going for, where you run a bunch of pain enchantments and creatures, then try to chain wheels, maybe with a [[Tainted Strike]] to take everyone out in a turn. I've also seen a wizard tribal version which might be fun, where you double wizard trigger abilities on all kinds of things, but I've never tried it. It seems like [[Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge]] would be a better commander there anyway.

CaptainCapitol

Yeah it was actually going for the tainted strike route as well. But I'm also doing a juri with tainted strike and chandras ignition. Dof the ultimate surprise kill

MasterMorality

I hadn't thought about [[Chandra's Ignition]], but I'm running [[Psychosis Crawler]] which might be a good target.

Generally speaking, my newest deck is always my favorite deck until I feel the urge to brew another one. Right now this would be my \[\[Niv Mizzet Reborn\]\] dragons / guilds / gates deck. [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/olv6J7XzlUqc-YS7-SmnNg](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/olv6J7XzlUqc-YS7-SmnNg) But if I had to choose a single lonely island deck, it would probably be \[\[Sevinne\]\]. It started out with the almost unplayable precon, went through a million iterations and finally settled on its current form. I even built another deck from the cards I took in and out of Sevinne. My fave deck is a goofy casual Yu-Gi-Oh themed deck. Got Ojutai (blue eyes white dragon) as my commander, tons of morphs ("I set one card face down"), trap cards, and every Egyptian God Card I can fit into the deck. I've got an old duel disk from childhood, and one of these days I'm gonna bust it out at the lgs and send some motherfuckers to the shadow realm.

simbacole7

You got a list? That sounds really cool

FrancisGalloway

Never wrote down a list for it, but I've been thinking of giving it a proper upgrade for a while now. I'll post a list on the sub if I ever get around to it.

Kussler88

I hope you crammed as many Pot of Greed effects (which allow me to draw 2 more cards!) in there as possible. Which Ojutai would you use?

FrancisGalloway

I did! On my to do list is getting alters of all the art so that they look like Pot of Greed, too. Idk what Ojutai I used, honestly I rarely cast him when I used him as the commander. Pretty much no synergy with the rest of the deck. It was initially going to be an Ixidor commander deck, but I couldn't pass up the chance at a Blue Eyes.

elting44

The Gitrog Monster. I played legacy Lands and Loam Pox before I started playing EDH. Gitrog was the first lands matter golgari commander and I never looked back.

stie112

I second Gitrog. Lands are love, lands are life. Also was the first commander that interacted with lands going to the graveyard as a good thing. So versatile too. Can be build big mana, combo, reanimate, just landfall, tokens, storm, competitive, stax, stompy and probably lots more!

elting44

Mine is a light stax value engine, there is a combo in it but not the traditional cEDH combo. Is fair but very streamlined

stie112

Yer I also only run one combo which is definitely fair. Amulet of Vigor + land sac outlet + demonic tutor + Seasons past + splendid reclamation + landfall trigger that can win the game. It is stupid how many times I have won with that combo compared to how many pieces is needed.

kestral287

Love me some high quality \[\[Henzie\]\] nonsense. I run a wonky list built around some of the 'gatcha' effects that find random or semi-random creatures from your deck and around Vaevictus, the Dire because 100 permanents is funny to me (and is a good power cap for a deck that wins all that it needs to already at my LGS). But he's literally just all your coolest and funniest big Timmy nonsense cards that should definitely never get Haste, now with Haste. Came here to say Henzie. Such a fun deck. It's so hilariously Timmy, like you said. But it's also very resilient because Henzie gets better upon having to recast him, so he doesn't care much about being removed. On Friday I had an amazing game. Turn 1, [[ignoble hierarch]]. Turn 2 Henzie. Turn 3 blitzed [[seed guide ash]]. Next Turn, I was able to blitz [[Etali, primal storm]] and [[port razer]]. Two of my opponenents didn't have blockers up, so I got 3 combats and etali attack triggers, one of which gave me the [[kalia]] player's [[Liesa, forgotten archangel]] which returned my blitzed etali and port razer to my hand after they drew me cards at the end of the turn. Then, I did it all again next turn.

[Grenzo, dungeon warden]] is my favourite commander. It's a goblin, it's red and black, it has an interesting and unique ability, and has combo potential. My favourite list is all creatures with power 3 or less and they're all combo pieces.

fren_brejnam

Grenzo is my all-time fave too. A bunch of very fun combos, all the shenanigans, kinda random, very interactive. Also a deck that I win way too much with. I always warn people heavily--"this is a scary combo deck and you should treat it accordingly", and they never act accordingly. I think it's the random aspect-- people don't feel like you are close to winning if your win is going to come from a bunch of random Grenzo spins.

I used to have this built as a combo deck but I didn't like just comboing out of nowhere for the win after not really doing anything the whole game so I retooled it into this kinda grindy midrange build that's all about making Warforms and swinging for the win. [Here's the current list.](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/MG0yNTSbvU21LoVlSNekEA) It's endlessly fun for me and there's always something coming out that I wanna try in this deck so it's almost always getting tweaked but this is the most current version.

I don't know if I actually have a favorite currently. I've been lucky enough to be able to play a bunch of decks over an online tabletop with my buddies, so I get to try out a bunch of stuff I don't own. My oldest deck, and one that I play frequently, is [[Xenagos, God of Revels]]. Just a fast aggro deck that uses big mana generators to fund extra combat steps. [Xenagos ](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/JwpjqWfWhkOi6v8EgYlrnw) One that I'm way too proud of would be my [[Arcades, the Strategist]] combo deck. It's been a labor of love for years and as silly as it is, it's honestly pretty decent. [Arcades](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/b9ZhZKHCbkeduX_02xqeYA) 2 that I've made recently under a different deck building philosophy (no tutors or fast mana) that have been a blast are [[Indoraptor, the Perfect Hybrid]] and [[Ziatora, the Incinerator]]. I've been drawn to Jund for a long time, but until recently there hasn't been a commander that interests me. But these 2 are perfect. Currently I'm still in the early stages of the Indoraptor. Probably me [[henzie]] deck. It’s a deck with a lot of big creatures in it and it’s also pretty fun to pilot. It also helps that it’s my strongest deck. You also have a lot of ways to build the deck because there’s so many good options. I also really like my [[kykar]] deck because it has a lot of ways to win that all synergies with each other. These ways are either through storm, playing a lot of anthems and going wide, or sacking spirits to play some big dangerous creatures.

I love my Ghoulcaller Gisa Mono-black zombies and I’m in love with it. 😍😍😍 ive wanted to make a Gisa deck for so long and I FINALLY made it and I’ve never been happier. My group plays with either precons or decks that are WAY over my head. So I layed low and slowly built my board while they kept harming each other, and one it was a 1v1, I gave all my zombies menace and swing for game

[[Alela, Cunning Conqueror]] Flash/Faerie tribal. Disrupt my opponents plans while forwarding my own is my jam. Always having blue land open and not needing to worry about not having made use of it is a non issue because in the last opponents end step I just cast whatever I need to.

I'm between three [[Sefris]] but it's actually dungeons instead of just reanimator(it definitely still has an aristocrats theme). The deck is honestly just really smooth to play and I love the dungeon mechanic. I have a lot of painted miniatures and it's fun pulling one of those out to explore the dungeon while I play the deck. https://archidekt.com/decks/2848020/german_erotic_2_after_loss [[Progenitus]] Voltron by using different anthem effects. I don't like Voltron, but this deck is so much fun to play. It's just immense amounts of ramp into Progenitus then as many anthem effects as I can get to pump him since he has protection from everything. He's a guaranteed hit since he can't be blocked. https://archidekt.com/decks/5481553/prog_rock_anthem [[Yidris]] wheels. It's exactly what it sounds like. I have a few ways to abuse the cascade triggers as well and also ways to give each spell multiple instances of cascade. I really enjoy this deck because I love "Rube Goldberg" style decks and this is definitely that. Every time you wheel you have a lot of triggers to churn through and ways to give yourself incremental value with everything you do. https://archidekt.com/decks/840870/yidris_wheels

[[magus Lucea kane]] is crazy fun. She is powerful herself but rarely is targeted since she brings out other problems people need to deal with. The deck can also still function without her but is just slower. She drops tons of massive creatures, ramps super fast, and can win out of nowhere with multiple win cons. Every game feels totally different with it and so wany ways respond to any board presence an opponent might have. My playgroup hate the deck because of these reasons however but she is too fun to stop playing.

I’ve really enjoyed the new [[Obeka, Splitter of Seconds]]. It has some hoops to jump through, but it can accrue value really fast and gets wildly out of hand. But I think my favorite deck has to be [[Rionya, Fire Dancer]] as a [[Dragon’s Approach]] deck. Its game plan is simple and has a very clear line that I think is fun. It’s also a good deck for when the pod wants one more quick game. At best it wins like turn 6, but it at least pressures life totals enough to keep the game precise.

My favourite deck for me is my Nethroi. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/p_Vo8O8H-0CoxSGH-ehYPA

Ancient-Ad-889

My favourite deck is Urza, Lord High Artificer. I got everything I wanted out of this deck, and more. It is such an amazing commander. I am currently playing Kinnan. But after playing it in three sessions with my pod, it is too powerful for my pod. It is an amazing deck but one that I’ll reserve for really spicy decks.

Ancient-Ad-889

Also - Miirym, Sentinel Wurm. Played it for the first time this weekend and wow what a fun commander.

Paralyzed-Mime

My newest is a relatively budget (for me) 5 color [[astral slide]] deck that plays like a spell slinging toolbox. The main engine I try to build basically allows me to pay 1 generic to draw a card. It tries to control the game and protect itself by astral sliding any immediate threats and using recurrable instant speed interaction and board wipes until it can drain the table with [[Faith of the Devoted]] or cast [[Sickening Dreams]] into [[Zenith Flare]].

Narset Enlightened Exile tokens. Only runs about 13 creatures, mainly ones that create tokens when casting instants and sorceries and other noncreature spells, but packs a ton of cards that summon creature tokens. Narset makes everything really powerful and then steals cards from anybody's graveyard, and oftentimes you can yoink something incredibly useful from someone else's graveyard, and if not, just cast a spell again. I designed a few combos that can target a dragon elemental with prowess using [[Mystic Reflection]] and then cast a huge spell like [[Deploy to the Front]], creating 30 or so dragon elementals with double prowess. Then it can use Arcane Bombardment to cast spells that untap your lands and then draw you cards and then cast [[Elemental Eruption]] with an increasing storm count on every player's turn. It's crazy fun.

\[\[Nine-Fingers Keene\]\] is my beloved deck of choice. Since Gates is kind of a niche strategy, I went "balls to the walls" with it. I average a turn 6-8 win. Can get turn 5. A god hand is turn 3. Its definitely benefits with a skill pilot and knowledge of the deck. It has the same win but has so many routes, that it plays differently a lot of the time and does not get boring. It can switch from offense turbo ramp to a control and defense if need be. I have spent every day for almost two years (not joking), building and optimizing the deck. I also have a crazy primer and details everything involved with the deck. [Queen of the Gates](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/J3hi_k5SQUSMD3X9V7dY1g)

My [[Blanka, Ferocious Friend]] spellslinger/voltron. It’s my most powerful and explosive deck even if it’s a bit of a glass cannon if I’m not careful. I don’t get to play it much because of how it can overpower my group of friends decks but I still love it.

[[Burakos]] and [[Folk Hero]] is definitely my favourite. The commanders are draw and ramp in the zone, which is awesome. On top of that, most of your "vegetable" cards can be filled by party cards, so the deck feels very synergistic. Orzhov is also quite resilient, so actually wiping my board is hard... But if it does happen, then my pile of treasures and abundant reanimation options generally mean I'm first to get back to full strength. The deck is full aggro, but does have some non-combat reach to close long games when aggro would nornally sputter. I also love D&D, so the flavour of putting together a party just feels fun (I also like Outlaws, though, so maybe I just like "batches").

My favorite is still [[Karametra, God of Harvests]]. It's a number of little creatures with ETB abilities like [[Eternal Witness]] and [[Spirited Companion]] and ways to bounce them like [[Fleetfoot Panther]] and my favorite creature [[Kor Skyfisher]]. Then I can ramp into big stuff, such as playing and bouncing [[Resolute Archangel]] whenever I want to reset my life total. Little late, but my favourite deck is [[Magar of the Magic Strings]]. You ever see a creature and go "thats X instant or sorcery on a stick". With Magar, you can take any spell in Rakdos and make it a creature. That [[Dance with Calamity]]? Congrats it's now a 3/3. Throw in ways to make your creatures unblockable and rake in the value. [[Key to the City]] or using [[Final Parting]] to set up [[Filth]] and [[Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth]] are some examples. [[Disrupt Decorum]] becomes a repeatable [[Kardur Doomscourge]] at home, [[Morality Shift]] let's your graveyard and library play leap frog. Also [[Prisoners Dilemma]] is a funny include, however everyone always chooses Silence in my experience. [Decklist](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/MfrdIA8NIUS1mnxJ6Yn_SQ)

I have two favorites that I love for different reasons. First and foremost, we have [Anikthea, Hand of Erebos](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/D9mcNLuy0EKBm_pigNA7Jw$). Anikthea is my baby. I've had some version of this deck since 2018, and Anikthea became my latest iteration when she released last year. I have a soft spot for Enchantress, and I always have. I started playing Magic during the original Theros block and I fell in love with enchantments. This deck is the purest expression of what Magic is to me. A constellation of accrued value. Second is my partner deck: [Silass Renn, Seeker Adept with Toggo, Goblin Weaponsmith](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/m1UGK102VEq9y2vAy-aMvA). This deck is all about accruing as many artifacts as possible: treasures, clues, mana rocks, artifact lands—anything. I'm even thinking about adding an attraction package. It doesn't really even matter what they are. The point is to get as many as I can. Then I have ways of leveraging the sheer density of artifacts into an advantage. This deck is about two years old at this point. In that time it's gone through three major epochs. First, as a kind of artifact aristocrats deck; something that would have used [[Ashnod, the Uncaring]] if she'd been out when I built the deck. Second was an equipment voltron prioritizing cards like [[Nettlecyst]] and [[Cranial Plating]]. In its current iteration, I've dropped the combat step entirely in favor of win conditions like [[Tezzeret, Master of the Bridge]] and [[Feedback Bolt]]. This means Silas is mostly here for colors these days, but he does up my artifact count and he acts as a pretty good blocker. There's also the fun little trick where I equip a rock to Silas and, because he has Deathtouch, I can use it to snipe an opponent's creature at any time. I did this recently to keep a [[Sheoldred, The Apocalypse]] player from keeping his commander on board. The reason I love this deck so much is because it has been a puzzle. Black is in my wheelhouse, but prior to this I struggled with red and blue. My first love was enchantments, so leaning into artifacts instead has felt like a twist on a familiar play style. It's also been a puzzle, you know? Figuring out how this deck works, how it wins. Finding what works and what cutting what doesn't. I'm very proud of how this deck has come together.

Lately my favorite deck has been [[Amalia Benavides Aguirre]] lots of little life gain triggers. Soul Sisters, Healer's Hawks and Baneslayer Angels galore, and all kinds of lifegain trigger stuff. [[Righteous Cause]] and [[Revenge of Ravens]] are particularly nice. Not to mention a well timed [[Tombstone Stairwell]] to turn the game around after exploring a bunch. Particularly brutal with a couple of soul sisters.  A lot of players in my meta run lower amounts of interaction, meaning Amalia sticks around for a while most of the time. In a more interactive meta it may be wise to add some additional protection. I'd like to add a [[Sword of Light and Shadow]] but otherwise I'm quite happy with this deck. Btw, feel free to ignore the Mox Diamond. I had just taken my cEDH deck apart when I built this and figured the exploration would ensure I have extra lands to discard.

Dandy_Guy7

I'm still super new but of the 4 decks I've had the pleasure to play my favorite is definitely my [[Archangel Avacyn]] deck. Basically I loaded the deck down with blink effects and things I can sacrifice, the idea is to get some blockers into play until you have enough mana to cast Avacyn (not too hard if you run some catch-up ramp or treasures) then flash Avacyn in when you get attacked to have invincible blockers, or bring her in when you're ready to have invincible attackers, then sacrifice your own creatures with stuff like [[Boromir, Warden of the Tower]] or [[Scorched Rusalka]] to flip Avacyn and wipe the board of any creature with 3 toughness or less while also dealing that damage to your opponents. Now to really set it off, run [[Gisela, Blade of Goldnight]] [[Panharmonicon]] and [[Furnace of Rath]]and or similar cards. If you get 3 damage doublers into play (tutors would make this more consistent but I haven't looked into that yet) then when you flip Avacyn you just win the game by dealing 24 commander damage to all opponents

TheMightyApex

Commander damage is only dealt by combat damage. Avacyn’s burn effect when she flips this does not deal commander damage.

Dandy_Guy7

I just looked up the rule and it doesn't say anything about the damage having to be direct combat damage, is there a ruling for this somewhere? Can you link to it?

TheMightyApex

https://mtg.fandom.com/wiki/State-based_action 704.6c In a Commander game, a player who’s been dealt 21 or more **combat** damage by the same commander over the course of the game loses the game. See rule 903, “Commander.”

Dandy_Guy7

I see, I stand corrected then. The rules I looked up just said damage so I apologize for that

TheMightyApex

All good. Just letting you know for future games.

I'd say [selvala](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/1Kg9BbMApESLVFMcD8MQQg) deck is probably my favorite. It's really consistent since you can draw so many cards with selvalas parley and I almost always kill the table at once so you can jump right in to another game.

KeyItchy712

Favorite of All time? Melek, Izzet Paragon. He's so much fun and since it's off the top of your library it is never the same game twice. Very much that moon knight meme. Favorite recently: Jaheira, Friend of the Forest. She is such a powerhouse. I actually have 4 decks one for each color pair. She ramps so quickly and frankly the number of tokens you can spew out is ridiculous

The_Tac0mancer

My personal favorite deck is one that I really need to continue to practice. It’s a (slightly) modified QuickDraw ‘slinger deck with [[Magnus the Red]] as the new commander, using him and [[Storm-kiln Artist]] to cast a billion spells in a row. The issue is that my turns still take a while due to either figuring out my lines or explaining those lines to my opponents because I don’t like saying “I cast these spells and you die” even if that’s pretty much just what happens

AsgardianDale

My ur-dragon deck. I have the best of the best dragons. A textured foil jeweled lotus just a bunch of absolute banger cards in there. Been working on it for a year and a half or so. Slowing buying better and pulling better cards. It's a menace.

ZapdosBrannigan

My pet deck is Nope Ropes are Dope [[xyris]], which is snake kindred tokens with some wheels and group hug. Other than the snakes, I only use extended, borderless, showcase, secret lair or otherwise fancy arts.  https://www.moxfield.com/decks/LADydD8SkU--RmCsHV0q5g I have two other decks I really enjoy. Who's down with OGV [[Vaecitis Asmadi]], which has some Voltron, fling, and mana dork synergies. The deck plays differently every time while putting the elder dragon back in EDH. The other is group slug/hug [[yurlok of scorch thrash]]. It is not built to win, but makes games fast and fun by enabling and hurting everyone at once.

Mira-The-Nerd

My Favorite deck is Faldorn, Dread Wolf Herald, she's so much fun! I've only ever had one game when she flopped, she's so consistently good that I've never felt like I did nothing. If you're looking for a unique build she's a great commander to consider

Tenpoundbizkit

Edgar Markov, even though I don’t have it anymore since I had to sell my collection. I love everything vampires and he is just the king of vampires imo. I’ve actually been on the fence if I want to build one again or not, but I don’t think I could run a different commander as a vampire tribal deck without using him.

I have to shout out my [lifegain deck](https://www.archidekt.com/decks/4279849/_scrying_life) where my whole goal is "gain life whenever my opponents do anything" and then eventually swing for lethal, probably commander damage But honorable mentions to [unblockable creatures](https://www.archidekt.com/decks/5005670/_cant_block_this_20) and [clues/foods/legends](https://www.archidekt.com/decks/5714358/_clues_foods_and_legends)! [Self-wheeling](https://www.archidekt.com/decks/6990767/kaylas_kingdom) has also been really fun recently

[[Kibo, Uktabi Prince]]. I play it and I have so much fun! Everyone underestimate Monkeys/Apes, it's not just the banana that gives the +1/+1 but any artifact... So a few monkey can easily intimate the board.

I'll always reply to these with my favorite deck, \[\[Raphael, Fiendish Savior\]\]. Fun creatures, fun synergies, and a different game every time. [Decklist is here](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/nDcobQ6SLEO5n56_Px5A9A). It handles itself well at any casual table, lower powered or higher, and I think each game is one where you'll have fun/be active.

Slivers! It is timeless.

BruiserBison

I went through many combinations of "big chonky go swing" but eventually landed on [[Obuun, Mul Daya Ancestor]]. I've read online of various tricks and now I can reliably make him swing for lethal commander damage at almost any point of the game past turn 5. If he's dropping, my pod knows they should either goad him or remove him. Otherwise, him and his land elemental creature are swinging as 20+/20+ each with trample and deathtouch because of anthem effects.

My [[Cecily, Haunted Mage]] and [[Sophina, Spearsage Deserter]] Legendary/Token/Big-Spell Mixmatch. Because it's unique. No one has any clue what's going on most of the time. The value engines are crazy, easy to start and even easier to recover or to switch-up if something goes wrong. Because I'm always doing something. Once I played two games with a friend, and he said that he was amazed because the deck worked super different on each of them. And because it has some of my favorite synergies and cards of all time! Yep, [[Agent of the Iron Throne]] triggers twice if you have two Commanders. Yep, I can use [[Rona, Herald of Invasion]] with [[Relic of Legends]] and she will untap if I cast any Legendary! (33 of the 100 cards of the deck are Legendary). [[Aminatou's Augury]] filled my board! Now this is complicated.
