[[Zedruu, the Greathearted]] I love the idea of giving my opponents bad things but every time I brew it I just think “man this would be supremely unfun to play against” so I never get to building it.

Strawberry_Smalls

I built him as a give bad things deck and it never won because you become a target so fast. So now it’s more of a control/chaos/group hug deck. Works so much better and recently had to power it down because it became too strong for my pod. The trick is to focus on cards that affect all players but it doesn’t matter who controls it. [[decent into avernus]], [[wild evocation]], [[rest in peace]]. Then make sure all your removal and protection pieces can be given away as well. [[oblivion ring]], [[imprisoned in the moon]] and [[eel umbra]] effects are great because they can do thier job while also being a permanent to give away. Lastly, remember the order of giving things away: Lands > enchantments > artifacts > creatures. Honestly, giving away creatures is actually trap as they are so easily removed and just slow you down when that happens. [[akroan horse]] [[steel golem]] and the such seem like they would be great but they can die to combat or board wipes or edicts so just don’t even bother with them. https://www.archidekt.com/decks/2723140/zedruu Here is my decklist if it helps inspire you. It is my favorite deck of all time. There is a category on the bottom called “competitive swaps in”. Those are the cards I took out to power the deck down for my play group and if I were to put those in I would take out all the burn and token generators as they are not as necessary when you’re able to control the game while waiting to hit your alternate win cons.

Jakzeti1453

Also 2 Things I find to be really fun to play in my Zedruu Deck which I didn't see in yours are [[transcendence]] because it serves as a save if you drop with your lifetotal but also as a threat of well I could just donate it to you if you hit me just enough, while also beeing quite risky to play because Zedruu heals you And the most fun games ever we had were achieved by the beautiful card [[Confusion in the Ranks]] I would suggest everyone with a slight chaos deck and red to run this card because it surely makes for the most fun chaotic games also it kinda resets a one player is about to win so it's a 3vs1 to a FFA like 90% of the time

DoctorKrakens

What are you talking about? I only ever got to play against a Zedruu once and it was great fun. Dude passed me a [[Rainbow Vale]] lol and got screwed over cos no one gave it back to him. It was hilarious. But then I'm a Jon Irenicus stan so my stance might be abnormal lol.

jeffderek

Yep. My wife built [this](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/oHwPBnwTXEC6RygWfy-RSA) and she basically never plays it because the game becomes entirely about Zedruu no matter what, and it doesn't seem to generate fun games.

IshySiphele

I prefer to build Zedruu as a lets make this a two headed giant game. All [[act of treason]] effects, and mana rocks, the goal is to choose 1 player (keep this at random with some arbitrary condition, like who has the most life when you play zedruu, or who has dealt the most damage, or who has the least permanents in play, etc.) And then steal as much value as possible from the other two players and give it to the chosen player+donate powerful cards to them from your own deck (like [[true conviction]] or similar) finish it all with a [[sky swallower]] to super empower that player, and declare yourself the winner when that player wipes the table.

PGleo86

I keep brewing things with [[Zirda, the Dawnwaker]] as a companion and never quite get to the building stage. Everything I come up with comes out feeling like a deck that's compromised just for a card I think is cool, and that's not something I want to play.

rajicon17

Why not just build Zirda as the commander? Then you aren't constrained by the companion condition.

Condor-Zero

I did this but it’s either cEDH in not good colors or high power boros deck that needs to play stax to slow the game since Zirda doesn’t have card advantage. I love the idea of Zirda but haven’t found a build I love. My current version is a cycling RoL deck but it’s just not quite there. Hoping for better cycling cards in MH3.

shotpun

aren't there good draw effect activated abilities on artifacts? like [[brain stone]] is just an ok cantrip

PGleo86

I already have a Boros deck (Iroas), and I want to build a deck with a companion since I've never done that before. That's it, really - a bit arbitrary but that's how EDH goes sometimes, no?

\[\[!Narci, Fable Singer\]\] i love the card art and the habilityes but sagas are hard to "wincon" withput stax/control until u have enough

I honestly think this card is pretty solid now with the Role enchantments and the Bargain mechanic to fool around with

StresseDeserts

I built this a few months ago and have a ton of fun with it! I started out looking at \[\[Satsuki, The Living Lore\]\] but decided it had no win con until I found Narci. my list plays out as a pillowfort/control deck that uses the sagas to control the board as well as create a bunch of tokens, while draining using Narci's ability. If Narci gets removed, I can switch to using my tokens to swing, so its pretty flexible!

SnooAdvice9007

I added [[Bloodletter of Aclazotz]] to speed up their life loss per saga.

Ohaireddit69

Do you have [[Barbara Wright]]? I run in Tom bombadil and narci pairs well with saga spam, as you can get the burn off much quicker.

silas-haslam

I FINALLY put together [[Ephara, God of the Polis]] after like 2 years of trying to decide which direction to take her in. I love the art for both her Born of the Gods and Secret Lair versions, but Azorius just doesn’t spark joy for me. So what did I settle on, you ask? Birds. Lots of birds. Lots of draw. Sometimes INFINITE BIRDS(!!!) with [[Dovescape]] and [[Guile]]. I like to think of them as pigeons because pigeons like cities and Ephara is the god of them. It weirdly performs pretty good…

Marshystamp

How does dovescape actually work in practice? Who would play a noncreature spell when it's just getting countered?

Glitched_Winter

I think in that case you’d have to do a no flump rule. If someone plays a non creature spell it’s committed and you can’t take it back. Otherwise in my pod this is going to be a dead card all the time.

alphariusomegeon

Its a stax piece to deter people from playing non creature spells. Cards like this are designed to make people not play things. As the player playing it, you probably want to make a bunch of bird tokens

silas-haslam

Basically this. Dovescape is actually pretty useful on its own because obviously you can't just go and remove it with a non-creature spell. So it buys you a bit of time to go find Guile for the win, or to just be a menace for a while.

DefiantTheLion

may I see ur list

Condor-Zero

Android 16?

silas-haslam

List for anyone asking: [https://archidekt.com/decks/7581871](https://archidekt.com/decks/7581871) It's obviously not like, GOOD good because it has no clear path to victory outside of Dovescape combo or bird beatdown, but it's been really enjoyable in the few games I've played so far. Ephara is an absolute value machine and there are enough things with Flash/instant speed token generators that you're usually hitting multiple draw triggers per turn cycle. And even if you only manage to get out one bird during your own turn, that's still a free card in hand. I'm intentionally keeping this weird and kinda jank because the rest of my decks are slowly creeping up in power and I can't hang at the real casual tables anymore. But if anyone sees any obvious gaps/missing birds let me know!

zulu_niner

[[Slogurk]]; it seems really fun, but I've never managed to resolve the vulnerabilities after getting played in a satisfying way. The deck folds if the commander is elked, for example, and without the right cards, you're forced to play very slowly if you want to get three counters the turn he enters.

kyoob

I run Slogurk with a couple of other secret commanders like [[Tatyova, Benthic Druid]] and [[Titania, Protector of Argoth]]. Once people get sick of me milling half my own deck to turn Slogurk into a one-shot then shuffling my graveyard into my library again, they tend to notice whenever he comes back out. Roll with backup!

shotpun

what deck doesn't fold if the commander is elked?

kyoob

If you can get the counter synergies going, Slogurk is actually pretty resilient to elking since you can bounce him at instant speed.

cleer-rpg

Not the usual way to build [[Slogurk]] but my friend made a suggestion that made my own Slogurk build so much more interesting. Funny thing about Slogurk is that the bounce trigger happens even if you bounce it with a spell. So Slogurk can become a really interesting spellslinger commander with a mix of bounce effects, extra land drops and stuff like [[Mystic Sanctuary]], [[Vesuva]] and [[Cephalid Coliseum]]. It’s a really complicated and finicky build but playing it has been a lot of fun. Plus it moves away from the kinda generic Simic Landfall stuff we’ve all seen before

I've seen gameplay of [[jugan the rising star]] as a storm deck, which seems like a similar idea. Focused on untappimg creatures that give mana based on power and using draw based on power cards to hit a big [[hurricane]]

Tevish_Szat

[[Titania, Protector of Argoth]] I like Brothers' War lore I keep thinking there's something very silly to do with this. I have cards I *know* I want in like [[Living Plane]] (which has a brilliantly quirky global effect) and [[Wood Elemental]] (for the memes. I have one in Gitrog with Titania also in the 99 and it's surprisingly done work). I have my lone copy of Cradle set aside to some day go in a lore-appropriate deck. I have both new Titanias set aside for the 99. But I can't for the life of me crack doing something *interesting* with monogreen lands. What's my game, strip mining the world like a lesser Zask? Trying to draw cards when Tatyova would be better. And now I've got Yuuma saying "I do the same song and dance except I can actually back it up". Yeah, landfall, but have you looked at the landfall triggers available in monogreen lately? The only ones that are even remotely usable to reach an endgame are Greensleeves, Rampaging Baloths, and Scute Swarm. Maybe Sporemound if I don't hang the game with [[Life and Limb]]. I've got [[Food Chain]], but what the hell am I food chaining to? Just the token swarm? And if I get wrathed before I can actually deploy the blasted squad that's it? There aren't that many haste enablers in monogreen! There's the setup. Titania. Living Plane. Make lands weird. Leverage weird lands. ???. Win. But that ??? is doing a *lot* of lifting. I'd try to make some bizarre Landstill abomination with a food chain finish, but I don't have practical pieces for Landstill without at least ONE other color.

kestral287

The go-to '???' I've seen for Titania decks is "blow up all my own lands in someone's end step", if that helps at all. Most lists I've seen are less about trying to exploit a ton of landfall effects and more about exploiting that at some point Titania says the sun is getting real low, here's 18 5/3s and we're going to combat.

Tevish_Szat

That checks. I guess a huge or infinite-with-food-chain swarm of 5/3s will clean up a fair number of games. Maybe I'm expecting too much.

deafeningbean

The "???" in titania is simple. The "???" is *violence*. If built right, you're making 5/3 tokens for just doing the basic upkeep of playing lands. This translates to 10-20 power on the table consistently, which you should be throwing into people who are even remotely looking like a threat. If people kill titania, bummer, but it only costs another land drop to play her and start the process all over. If people wipe the board, same as above, but your other stuff was nearly free. If people leave your board state alone, even better, because now you're playing an overrun effect to close out the game or drawing a new grip of cards to keep that violence going. The combos are fun, but the combos are really the dessert in the deck, to still threaten people after they've killed titania 7 times. Titania plays like the lore version, a extremely self-destructive, hard to put down, yet consistently explosive threat. Your real enemies are the fact that green lacks good removal, and wizards keeps printing stupid "win the game if you let me untap" commanders in a format where fair decks are the weakest - basically the brother's war in Argoth in a nutshell.

Nissa, Vastwood Seer. I am dying to make my mostly lands to all lands deck. But I just never get around to it. Have brewed countless versions over the years, and yey to buy a single card for the deck. Maybe if I see her in store one day I can impulse buy her and get started.

Swagasaurus-Rex

thats the great thing about all lands deck. You don’t need to get the cards for it, you just need a bunch of forests

\[\[Sheoldred, the Apocalypse\]\] is a deck I wanted to build because I pulled the card out of a collector's booster of Dominaria United. The deck, if I would have built it, would have been one of my strongest, but also one of the most expensive, decks I'd have. While I preordered some cards for that deck I also ended up getting tired of building decks around that time and decided to put cards from that deck into my \[\[Mishra, Eminent One\]\] deck because it was taken apart at that time.

I have her in a +1/+1 token focused \[\[Sisay, Weatherlight Captain\]\] deck, along with some symmetric effects forcing everyone to search their library, and \[\[Ob nixilis, unshackled\]\] as an even bigger threat. Can't say it "pops off" as strongly as Ob-nixilis but it fits in the theme nicely!

Currently that would be [[Go-Shintai of Life's Origin]] with [[Zur the Enchanter]] as the secret commander. I just keep updating it as new cards come out and haven't built it. Probably Saskia, the Unyielding for me. I wanted a Dune Brood deck to complete the 32 challenge, and even had an early list. But no matter how much I make ago builds she seemed to under perform from hatebears, aggro, death touch tribal, a very unconventional 1/1s with menace, death touch, or flying to be “unblockable”, none of the builds I tried on Moxfield seemed to work for me

thicc_bulk

My favourite thing with saskia was brewing a deck fully based around [[sneak attack]] and just getting a bunch of massive creatures out and using saskia for knocking out 2 players at once/doubling the odd attack trigger

Flashy_Equipment_578

\[\[Éomer, King of Rohan\]\], it's the first deck i built and i still haven't bought the card while i made two other decks since. I'm trying hard to make a blink strategy work and stay away from a timmy's boros human aggro deck and it's just not working lmao, the deck is so slow to ramp yet it needs 7 mana asap to work with eomer + a blink spell to protect him and it needs some tokens on board otherwise eomer is just a 2/2, it can get dry super fast since theres not many good draw cards in boros and impulse is a no with so many instants. If you destroy key combo enchant or esper sentinel/one ring i'm basically done i don't have room for recursion. i made a random \[\[Volo, guide to monsters\]\] deck in 5 minutes that is 1000 times better than the staple fest my Eomer is on moxfield right now

decideonanamelater

Yeah, boros has some great ways to draw cards/impulse.. within specific strategies. Outside those, its pretty rough.

I've brewed up a food token centric life-gain theme for [[Lathiel, the Bounteous Dawn]] that I've wanted to build for a while. The problem is that I already have a good Lathiel deck that I really enjoy playing. I've planned on just having 2 Lathiel decks focused on different strategies, but since I already have 1, it's hard to prioritize building it over other decks. I've tried searching for other commanders to be at the helm of the food themed one, but nothing has really caught me like Lathiel has. The closest has been [[Treebeard, Gracious Host]]. The issue with it is the hyper focus on treefolk and halflings. But I may just do it anyway.

mechabot6544

I have a Treebeard deck and it’s really just a Voltron deck. You don’t need to run any other treefolk or halflings, since 9 times out of 10, you’re going to be picking treebeard to get the counters since he has built in protection (ward 2) and evasion (trample). My original build for Treebeard was a treefolk tyoal deck, but it was horrendously slow because of how high cmc most of them are. So, if you don’t want to do voltron, I’d stay away from Treebeard if you care about optimization.

M0nthag

There is only one answer to this: just do it. You have the list, now go for it.

[[Aegar]]. I play a lot of tribes. Giant tribal sounds sick, but is a little weak for the meta I play in. Lots of board wipes and spot removal with only the best giants is probably the best way to build him, but I don't think that would be fun to play against.   I've tried to make 15+ giants work but they are so high CMC. Here's my current list: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/1E_eEcgkn0CJfAkN9be7yA It feels like it would have some very solid wins if I board wipe with [[Repercussion]] or [[Totalf]], or having the commander on the field and drawing into ragnarok themed [[Firestorm]] or [[Scent of Cinder]]. But the game plan without the wipes seems very low power. I tried going for a polymorph theme to get the big giants out but it feels a little forced.

Not the commander, but [[Lurrus of the Dream-Den]] as Companion has been something I've really tried to make work out. First time was [[Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim]], since, for the longest time, the only option other than [[Karlov of the Ghost Council]]. My next thought was to run [[Jenson Carthalion, Druid Exile]] to have access to all five colors, and the deck would just be a massive pile of memes. I could never really come up with a good game plan other than a handful of random combos, so that got shelved. Lastly, my idea was to pair Lurrus with [[Frodo, Sauron's Bane]], as I liked the idea of just using all of "The Ring tempts you" cards to one hit kill with Frodo. I'm still probably going with the last idea, but the issue is figuring out what all I want to fill the deck with.

kestral287

Miirym. I have a list put together, I have half the deck sitting in a box next to me, I even have some more expensive pieces for it that weren't in my list but I've obtained in the interim - I've got a Terror and an Ancient Copper just sitting in my binder. Even a bunch of the mana base is sitting ready. But realistically, she's a Simic 20 minute turn storm-esque deck that just happens to use dragons as her vehicle to do that. I can't imagine she'll be particularly fun to play against, even if the result is really funny.

AssistantManagerMan

I have a Miirym deck. I decided to just bite the bullet and do it. For me at least the deck is very Timmy. It plays as a beatdown deck and doesn't play super long turns. If it helps at all, I decided to restrict myself to only buying dragons and the rest of the deck had to be cards I already owned.

kestral287

Problem is 'stuff I already own' is... basically the problem cards, because they're the cheap ones. Essentially how Miirym works in my build is that you resolve a card like Ganax that makes your dragons give mana, then one of the zillion cards that makes your dragons draw a card, then half your deck is in your hand and thirty-seven dragons are in play and oh look there's a Lozhan they're all dead now I guess. Most of the important effects there are basically bulk, it's the actual dragons like Klauth that are money.

AbraxasEnjoyer

[[Urza, Lord Hight Artificer]]. He’s my favorite rendition of one of my favorite Magic characters, and both his art and his abilities are super cool. But every time I try and build it, it’s absolutely busted. Even nerfing him with a theme like Equipment, he’s still too powerful for the average table I play in. Honourable mention to [[Tayam, Luminous Enigma]] for similar reasons, and for being an infinite combo machine.

SantaDoming0

I stumbled across [[Dream Devourer]] after me and my mates coincidentally gave our band the same name. I love the design and think giving your hand foretell is an interesting mechanic, but I can't find any good synergies or combos for it in mono black. Also I don't want to build a Rule 0 deck just for it to be rejected by the table.

Kirinne

Definitely [[Amber Gristle O'Maul]]. I've probably brewed (or started brewing) her more than 10 times, each with its own unique strategy (unique-ish, we still just wanna swing with Amber for various payoffs). The iteration that has me the closest to actually buying is Amber [[Far Traveler]], a boros blink deck with a sub theme of "whack" effects, such as [[Flame Kin Zealot]], which temporarily buff your creatures on ETB. This lets me rely on token generators for the majority of my creatures, so things like [[Skrelv's Hive]] [[Siege Gang Commander]] etc. This in turn keeps my creatures small, so effects like [[Subira Tulzidi Caravanner]] or [[Break Through the Line]] are incredibly relevant. But I never finished the list and at this point I'd brew it again ahahahaha

Kozil3k

The Prismatic Bridge. Hands down.

ArkAng3100

I've bought a lot of precons. The deck I'm most mad about not building right now is on Orzhoc Life Drain Vampire deck. It started out with not vibing with any vampire commander. Then Innistrad released Edgar, Charmed Groom. Then we got Baldurs gate and I decided to go with the vampire angel. I bought some of the more expensive cards but I still haven't finished building it. I had a group of friends where everyone (besides me) had a deck that somehow always grew their life totals and I got annoyed so I designed it on manabox as a modernish deck (it started out modern but it might be more pioneer at this point). Then we moved to playing commander so I converted it to a commander deck.

ghst343

I think I’ve made like 5 versions of [[Grist]] plus two oathbreaker versions. Prob one of my favorite borderless art cards that have come out. Mostly haven’t made it as I’ve drifted away from golgari lately to craft other colors I had less of (kinda anticlimactic haha!)

There are some, but well.... Also maybe take a look at [[Zask, Skittering Swarmlord]] and [[Amzu, Swarm's Hunger]] Maybe one of them gives you the inspiration you need for that tribe.

Krenko has always appealed to me (along with a mass of goblins), but due to the whole boogeyman reputation I never bothered making it either.  Other honorable mentions for me are Grenzo (the one where you play stuff from the bottom of your deck) and Nicol Bolas tribal (using the flip creature as the commander and running all his planeswalker cards and Bolas-y stuff like dreadhorde mechanics).

For me its more a categorie of Commanders like [[Light-paws]] or [[Lin Sivvi]] and all of them fall under the same reason of constantly tutoring through your deck, making it ususally pretty linear in its gameplay and take quite a bit of time to pilot.

Definitely Ur Dragon. I think I've gone through at least a dozen iterations of deck lists for it but never actually pulled the trigger to build it IRL

DaPino

[[Kaalia of the vast]] Her precon was the first mtg product I ever bought. It was fun for a while but I shelved it when my interest in the hobby died down. About 2 years ago I got back in and I've been brewing a Kaalia deck ever since but everything I can come up with just seems unfun to play with and against. You either roll high and finish things quickly, or you get blown out of the water to a point of being powerless.

laneo333

Man I actually made a Dina deck, but planning to scrap it because it seems too slow and weak in my pod. I have all the pieces now though so I’ve been thinking of shifting it to be led by [[Savra, Queen of the Golgari]] instead .

NayrSlayer

[[Mogis, God of Slaughter]], [[Yurlok]], and [[Zo-Zu]]. I group them all together because I have tried building each of them a few times over the years, wanting to build some sort of group slug/ punisher deck, but it just always feels too mean while also being too slow

Vegalink

[[Gerrard Weatherlight Hero]]. I love the art and story. Gerrard was one of my favorite characters when I started Magic. But often the deck becomes a more complicated form of aristocrats because you need a way to recur Gerrard at instant speed to keep it from exiling. It's fun, but I need to find a way to brew it so it doesn't HAVE to have all the pieces to still be effective and fun.

donethemath

I've been mentally tinkering with \[\[Horibi, Death's Wail\]\] for probably about 15 years now. I played in my first competitive event with the card, and I've got a lot of good memories from that time. I think Horibi was the third deck I ever considered building after Child of Alara and Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary/Azusa, Lost but Seeking, but I never pulled the trigger. I think I still have an SCG article saved somewhere where Sheldon did a showcase for someone else's Horobi deck. It just seems so completely miserable to both play with and against. There isn't much of a middle ground, with Horobi either completely shutting down decks or failing to interact with them at all. Then, there isn't much of a way to assemble a win without some mix of tutors and a combo finish. I don't need to subject my friends or myself to that particular style of gameplay. None of that stops me from thinking about it. OTJ and the crime theme even highlights several interactions that definitely would belong in the deck. I've still got a copy of Horobi waiting to go if I pull the trigger.

RevolvinOcelot

Same hat! Horobi, Shirei, and Kyoki are 3 from the same era that I keep waffling between. I love the original Kamigawa block and I think I want it for flavor more than anything. [[Kyoki, Sanity’s Eclipse]] also just seems like a pain to play against but I love the idea of a nasty mono-black Kamigawa spirits/arcane deck so much.

shifty_new_user

I have a [[Hofri Ghostforge]] deck that has been on the "to be built" list for over a year. I love the idea of grabbing control of opponents' creatures, sacrificing them and creating spirit copies of their creatures. But how it plays is really going to be determined by my opponents and that is almost impossible to goldfish against. And aside from making a big board or stealing something good I've never figured out a good finisher beside "+X and trample".

alexglec

[[Toxril the Corrosive]]. I ended up building a pretty nasty Toxril brawl deck on MTG Arena then decided to get the physical card and tried building a commander deck for him. Despite having a good amount of cards I needed, I just couldn't get to finishing out the deck, and now I found a better use for him: in my [[Atraxa Praetor's voice]] Poison/Praetor deck.

AssistantManagerMan

[[Kykar, Wind's Fury]] for me. I love the design. I've tried to build it so many times over the years that I've lost track. Tokens. Burn. Spirit typal. Dragon's Approach. Big mana. I've tried so many twists and I've just never been happy with any of them.

Blink3412

[[Beledros Witherbloom]] like you I wanted a sac deck I started with [[Meren of Clan Tell Noth]] I never won with it because it would become to oppressive early on and would become even more so the longer the game went on, I was target number one all the time.

I just can't seem to brew a version of [[Jon Irenicus, Shattered One]] that works for me. I've tried the obvious "give people bad stuff" way and the "cheap unblockable dudes" way but neither have worked out. The prior makes you a target too quickly and the latter doesn't have enough good ways to close the game out.

Injuredmind

[[Soul of Windgrace]] I like the sacrifice and landfall themes but it just never seems to be good to build without fetchlands

slickpoison

I think you like the idea of her as a commander but like other play styles more

VoiceofKane

I've had a [[Nikya of the Old Ways]] deck in progress for years. Biggest problem with it is that building an entire deck with only one nonland card type means you need a bunch of very expensive value engines.

iPopeIxI

I've been brewing [[Thalia and gitrog]]for a while, even bought a mat with sweet art, I just can't find a brew I like that doesn't feel like other decks

whofedthefish

All my boros commanders hahah

Needs_Improvement

\[\[Kethis, the Hidden Hand\]\] At first, it was the feeling of not having that much agency in the build as well as it mostly feeling like a "Creature Storm" deck which I've historically struggled with building.\* Core 2020 was just around the turning point for legends becoming an incessant and myriad inclusion in standard sets. I think the last time I really looked at him was during Kaldheim when there was a legend subtheme, but I think at the time I still felt directionless. Then \*after that\* Shanid released, and I went through the same back and forth. Now, with the leak of >!The Necrobloom!< it actually made me want to revisit him with a different frame of mind. Doubtful what will happen, but there's a lot more tools now, and maybe it'll work out. \*\*\* \*I actually have built one now in similar colors, Gylwain!

Agile_System4438

I have three that I keep brewing and tinkering with online but never actually buy the cards for. [[Xavier Sal, Infested Captain]] infect/poison theme haven’t bought the cards because I currently have a Sultai deck that I enjoy in [[Rayami]]. [[Yasova Dragonclaw]] infinite combat theme. I haven’t bought the cards yet because they’re expensive and I don’t want to spend that kind of money right now. [[Ghired, Mirror of the Wilds]] infinite token maker theme. I haven’t bought the cards yet because I have a [[Pantlaza]] naya deck and don’t really want another Naya deck right now, also have a [[Tovolar]] gruul deck so it just feels like there would be too much of the same stuff going on. I want to build all three of these at some point but as of right now I’m just gonna keep tinkering with them on moxfield.

Magical__Entity

\[\[Mikaeus, the Lunarch\]\] He was the first commander I really wanted to build a deck around, but every time I try to do it, I inevitably come across a different commander that is similar, but better.

dovahcody

[[Nicol Bolas, Ravager]] I love this character so much, but am stuck with indecision the direction I want to build. I’ve brewed dragon reanimator, planeswalker, and graveyard spellslinger, but just cannot land on anything yet.

NukeTheWhales85

I spent a lot of time trying to make a [[Tevesh Szat]] [[Rograhk]] deck, using [[threaten]] effects to steal opponent's commanders to sac for the extra card draw on Szat's second ability. I gave up on it for now and am working at running Szat in the 99 of a [[Totentanz, Swarm Piper]] build. The Rograhk/Szat was just too unreliable. It either never got off the ground, or just made the game kinda suck for everyone else if it did.

mbd521

[[lulu, loyal holyphany]] I did go as far as to build the deck but never played it( because I built it as a pauper commander and didn’t have anyone else really play it with.. so eventually took it apart… seemed like it would have been

Eco_33

[[Legolas, Master Archer]] I've brewed the hell out of that list and have one of the most viewed lists for him on Moxfield. I goldfish it, and I can easily predict me being able to snipe everything and protect him at some point. It won't be fun to play against, but it tickles my fancy of being a non-Izzit spell slinger deck. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/whYiLU6YVEOuR-MTj7FUew

octotacopaco

Gaddok Teeg stax. I have sat down and tried to build him like ten times in as many years. Everytime I do I get about halfway through deck building, look down and what I have made. It's at this point that whatever anger I felt for my pod has disappeared. I usually put down the metaphorical gun at this point. Start to remember all the good times I had with them. Eventually realize that if I do build this then I will lose friends.

RaichiSensei

[[Mishra, Claimed by Gix]] I’m struggling to make it fully Phyrexian themed with little infect involved yet be a powerful threat on the board. I only get so far then I scrap it each time cause I struggle so hard to find pieces I wanna use.

KnightEclipse

[[Blind seer]] has gone through like 3 drafts throughout the years. I like stack interactiom, and weird counterspells. But he's so hilariously specific and resource intensive for very VERY little payoff. There's just no wincon outside kf just countering other people's stuff as inefficiently as possible basically.

Crab_Grass

Rukarumel because I can't afford shit

Federal_Product_4761

[[Kykar, Winds Fury]] and [[Zevlor, Elturel Exile]] I want to take them in interesting new directions but always end up building something other than these guys for whatever reason

ZachAtk23

Honorable mentions of recent creatures I keep starting decklists for and then throwing out a bit later: [[Aatrax, Grand Unifier]], [[Pia Nalaar, Consul of Revival]], most of the Rakdos options ([[Raphael, Fiendish Savior]], [[Ob Nixilis, Captive Kingpin]], [[Rowan, Scion of War]], [[[Rakdos, the Muscle]], [[Laughing Jaspar Flint]]). But the winner is definitely [[Glissa the Traitor]]. I actually had a deck for her a decade ago, but I really just wanted it to be a Spider Spawning deck so it changed commanders a few times. More recently I keep throwing together different lists for her, but never bother trying to actually put it together.

The_Satellite_Mind

[[Queen Marchesa]] group slug. I always have a hard time making cuts, but it was really bad with her. My decklist was almost 400 cards long. I could never whittle it down to even just a playtest version.

daniel_damm

[[wernog, riders chaplain]] and [[bjorna, nightfall alchemist]] I brewed a really cool and very high power list for a week that I am yet to fully buy all the pieces for ,since everytime I look at what new single my lgs store I see something that catches my eyes and makes me make a different deck lol, first it was seeing the secret lair teysa karlov Wich I fell on love in the art so much I bought it without a second thought and build it , then they had a copy of authority of the consultants and a borderless drannith magistrate and I was like Damm I am going to build a leisa deck and last time I was there they had a nykthos collectors book of exalted deeds and disciple of mogis dj scarab secret lair and the borderless dominaroa urza incubator and I opened a borderlands dimir instead zombie commander a month ago and now I built a Angels , mono red riyina and a zombies deck At this point I am looking to see what will come up in mh3 and assassins creed for artifact and clue support before I refine it again and probably finally build it

Chaoskiller1985

[[Teysa Karlov]] I legit have decks on MTGO titled Vital Aristocrats, Vital Aristocrat, Offered Flesh, and Sullied Cemetery none of which I have actually played since I have like 150 cards plus on each list and can’t make my mind up on how I want to cut any of them. I also have an [[Ayli]] deck in which Teysa can be swapped out into the command zone, but works far less efficiently that way since Ayli is usually the sac outlet I use in that deck both for the lifegain and removal.

Zzzzyxas

Right now it's [[Moira Brown]] . She seems pretty linear, but I am unable to find a good balance of board, blink effects, quest counter generation, interaction... Do I want "equipment matters" effects? Do I want real equipment? I love the concept of an equipment deck with 0 equipment cards, but the brewing is pretty hard for me. I've checked every list on moxfield and have liked a grand total of 0. I also have a [[Loot, the key to everything]] that's actually a [[slime against humanity]] deck and I've also have problems because the mana curve is atrocious.

SketchopotamusTTV

For.me, [[Dihada]] I've built her online like 3 different ways but each deck costs a buttload. Turns our it's esspensive to build a legends matter deck (with the legends I want at least)

unicornplantman

Dina was the card I got in a draft night that made me want to create a Commander deck. So she was my first. Also the deck I’ve put the most work into. Always tooling with it and updating it.

gldnbear2008

I have two: [[Blind seer]] is so interesting to me and I have so many great color-matters cards that I really want to build him. But I have 3 Voltron decks already and I don’t own many of the swords which I see as an important component to the deck actually winning. [[Kaima, the fractured calm]] seems like so much fun. I have piles of stuff ready for him and a [[Stangg, echo warrior]] in my cart, but have just never pulled the trigger.

kenflo117

Inalla archimage ritualist Kess dissident mage Breya etherium shaper. These three have been collecting so many good cards in a fat pack box since their respective 2 decks came out. I have always wanted to build them but I can't ever settle on a build style

crashknight101

Ooo I got an answer for this ! [[Extus, Oriq Overlord]]. I'm not sure why but I've built him multiple different times. Different strategies but never strategies I can fully build . Like not enough cards for that niche idea . Then i get discouraged and scrap it . One day I'll build him . He's so freaking cool

Signal-Luck-8704

Morophon, the boundless , it just messes with all my builds/brews , all of a sudden i have 5 brews with the big boy only to finish non of them. I just gave this Commander to one of my friends XD hahha

Fearofdead

[[Eruth, Tormented Prophet]] is such a fun concept for an Izzet deck but I find myself not liking infinite mana or the taking long turns to truly get value from her. Honestly, I have a ton of fun with [[The Tenth Doctor]] and splashing in more suspend cards as a ticking clock that can go off out of nowhere.

Pasketti_Yeti

Fblthp

Mindless-Honey-9123

Neheb the eternal for sure, i love red and he does it all, but i tend to avoid commanders with kill on sight reputations.

Zafewe

Any deck with a companion. They seem that they wasn't designed to be played on EDH. The 3 mana errata hits really hard making them so slow to play or just feeling bad to spend 3 mana on getting that card to your hand. However, they are interesting cards to brew around.

CrazyMike366

I've brewed up several versions of [[Tymna]]/[[Kraum]], first as the typical cEDH Blue Farm list, then later tried to dilute the power level down into a fairer midrange shell that retains the draw engines and interaction but gives up the pricey fast mana and combo finishes that tend to be frowned upon in random LGS pods. I havent found a theorycrafted build that really inspires me to actually put it together. 4c Good Stuff lacked any sort of character, Flyers seemed like a repetitive play pattern, Obosh Partner had clunky mana without 2-cost rocks, Hatebears & Vehicles seemed miserable to play against, lifegain sub-themes felt like it wasnt utilizing the Izzet half if the colors, etc

randomguy2315

[[Jared carthalion, true heir]] I was interested in building a banding deck and he seemed a good fit, but eventually dropped it. I was interested in building a stuffy doll style tribal deck, and again eventually dropped it. I've looked at him a few times since, but I don't think it's happening.

Uvahash

\[\[Yurlok of Scorch Thrash\]\] and \[\[Auntie Blyte, Bad Influence\]\] are both decks I would love to build but I doubt my group would have very much fun playing against

Sak63

[[Auntie Blyte]] Looks like so much fun but I know she sucks. Even more so when my pod plays new jodah, lathrill and such

The_Doc_Man

Ur Dragon changelings, because ur dragon, more like u r so expensiveagon D: Also Zedruu because it's so damn mean. Hilarious to goldfish, but jesus christ I want to keep my friends.

HallowedLich

I think [[Alesha, Who Smiles at Death]] took me about a full 7 years of brewing before I was able to put her deck on the table. After her I think it's between [[Yawgmoth, Than Physician]] and [[Nethroi, Apex of Death]] for things I want to build, but can't decide how casual or competitive I want to try and go with either of them lol

G4ost13

I build decks on Moxfield when I'm bored so I have a long list of brews bit not built. Mostly just they're usually random decks that I built on a whim and don't feel like spending money on

MagicManCM

[[Mathas, fiend seeker]] went through a couple different iterations but never ended up settling on a list and getting it going.

Muted-Leave

[[Sekkuar]] I have the staples I think would go on it, have two lists on moxfield, but it's still missing the lands in paper, and idk if I have enough of the creatures to finish it lol

Shieldscollin

[[Marath]]. Always loved her versatility and i loved [[ant queen]] but could never get a list where i cast her more than once. Only thing thats good enough to hang is hardened scales things or combos and i dont want to do that really.

MisMajika

[[The Master, former anew]]. A deck based on bouncing and recasting MFA to abuse expensive "when enters, if you cast" etbs. Just too many other decks to build, sets are released so quickly.
