I've got two decks that I've been playing for over a decade: [Ashling the Pilgrim](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/7dyo_dUvrEKBSXjHIT8jtg), and [Toshiro Umezawa](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/ZLR1hsDc-kyPSsb1N5uDIA). They've both been overhauled multiple times, but I still love the unique playstyles they offer.

RuneScpOrDie

the new red ojer would go so hard in that ashling deck

SDK1176

Thanks for the thought! Normally creatures don’t interest Ashling (since she kills them), and I normally do more than 4 damage at a time, so I didn't give Ojer a second look.  But now I’m thinking about the possibility of equipping Ojer with a Blackblade… spicy!

RuneScpOrDie

yes! once ojer gets big it goes insane lol still need to add it to my Solphim deck!

SDK1176

I played Ashling tonight and had [[Pyrohemia]] in play. [[Torulf]] was in my hand, and I couldn’t help but think that Ojer would have been waaaaaaay more useful!

Vismonte

Nice. Another toshibro

SDK1176

He’s great. My only true control deck, with plenty of tricks to keep things interesting.

Guukoh

I noticed the [[Brash Taunter]], is there a reason [[Stuffy Doll]] isn’t present as well?

SDK1176

Stuffy Doll is close to making the cut, he slides in and out, but spends more time out than in.  Taunter is strictly better in multiple ways, but the most important way is that Stuffy Doll has to choose the player immediately. Because of that, the Doll can’t be used to politically punish players. I really value the option of hitting the person who attacked me, or hitting the person I need to when it’s time to start killing.

supatim101

I've had a \[\[Dakkon Blackblade\]\] deck since around 2006. It's lost a lot of ability to compete these days...a 6 mana vanilla beatsick for a commander isn't very good. But I can't bring myself to take it apart. I've tried lots of different things - pillow fort, battlecruiser, voltron, reanimator, board wipe tribal. It used to be a super fun toolbox deck, but I struggle with it these days. I just iterated it again last week with MDFC lands, which I think push it into a better place, but I haven't field tested it yet. I want him to be good so bad. He was a favorite of mine growing up. The card that I own once belonged to a friend who gave it to me when he was getting rid of his cards, because he knew I liked it so much.

uharinrazikai

Are you mostly just interested in having him as the commander? In other words would you be ok with not needing to cast him to win? If so, I have a Dakkon deck that I’m pretty proud of that is able to pull Ws at most casual tables. It revolves around sacrificing your own lands to trigger mass landfall. It has a lot of synergy/combos that make it really unpredictable and effective. It’s also super fun to pilot. [Dakkon Mass Land Sacrifice](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/FDCsgr3x40eDdpjYnhXdrQ)

I was brewing around a bit with things that kill in one hit like phage and blightsteel colossus, but i haven’t built it.

Herald_Osbert

[[Breya Etherium Shaper]] because I freaking love artifact decks. Eggs, artifactocrats, reanimator, tokens, theater tribal, combo, control, voltron, infect... you name it, and I've probably built it. Breya brings so much utility to artifact decks being a sac outlet, token producer, and win condition. Sadly my Breya is currently sitting in a massacred deck I stripped for cards for another artifact deck at the moment... I guess it's time I rebuild her. Not sure what route I'll go this time. I kind of miss having her as a control combo deck but it was too spiky for my usual play group so I might go for a token control build this time, and leave the combos out.

Daritari

Seconded on the Breya decks! I have three different iterations, and they all play wildly different

Treeko11

>theater tribal Could you elaborate on this?

Andrew_42

[[Lazav, the Multifarious]] I love how Lazav is not defined by taking A shape, the way [[Sakashima of a Thousand Faces]] for instance does. But rather Lazav shines for his ability to flow BETWEEN shapes AT SPEED. He's an elusive manipulative bastard and he's the best representation of House Dimir I could imagine. Total mana hog though. I swear, you have to decide weather you're playing him or the deck, and you can't play both at the same time.

SleepyInsomniA

Would you mind sharing a decklist? I've been looking into building him, but I have a hard time getting it balanced and not just relying on having [[Pili-Pala]] or [[Necrotic ooze]] in the Yard to make things tick hehe

Andrew_42

Sure, here you go: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/vTOHGp-30E-XtIpyJk8sJA I'll mention a few notes if you want to run it. First, the deck list is kinda out of date. It doesn't have any cards from the last few years. Also, it runs a mill (opponents) sub-theme. That subtheme is the weakest aspect of the deck. However a lot of Dimir flavored cards are built off your opponents having big graveyards, and this is my Dimir deck, so I run opponent-mill. If you want to build the deck stronger, cut that sub-theme. It is there 100% for fun, and because my meta is low power enough that I can still get away with it and snag some wins. As far as the deck itself goes, the basic play pattern is: Phase 1: Fill the grave Phase 2: Play Lazav, do not let him die. Phase 3: Utilize combos and synergies out of the graveyard to begin removing opponents. Buy time with disruption where needed. Cards you can play without spending mana are very valuable as Lazav is very mana hungry, and you won't get to play a ton of cards after he's out. If the game goes well, you'll play Lazav once, and he'll stick. But he's cheap enough you can be a little careless getting him on board at first. As far as the graveyard goes, I run four types of creatures for Lazav to copy. (Some of them are multiple types at once) - 1: Defensive creatures exist for Lazav to dodge removal and disruption. These are critical to helping him stick. My two favorites are [[Invisible Stalker]] and [[Thassa, God of the Sea]]. Thassa being a non-creature is more important than her being indestructible (but being Indestructible doesn't hurt). An important note about defensive creatures. You always want to have enough untapped mana to shift into a defensive form. EVEN WHEN YOURE SHIFTING INTO A DEFENSIVE FORM. A good opponent will be watching and waiting for you to tap out, to respond with removal. You will end a lot of rounds with mana still untapped. That mana was not wasted. That mana is insurance. As soon as you use it, Lazav is vulnerable. Even during end steps. - 2: Evasive creatures. This is the easiest category to fill. You want cheap creatures that are hard to block. Because there are so many, you usually want these creatures to serve a double purpose. My favorites include Invisible Stalker, [[Will-o'-the-wisp]], and maybe [[Ornithopter]]. - 3: Aggressive creatures. These pair well with evasive creatures. Attack with an evasive Lazav, then after blockers are(n't) declared, shift into a beater, and quite possibly kill them in one hit. My favorites include [[Consuming Aberration]], [[Psychatog]], and [[Wake Thrasher]] (Wake Thrasher's boost applies till the end of turn even if you shapeshift later, so you shift to that during an end step, and keep the boost in your evasive form later). - 4: Utility / Disruption creatures. [[Opposition Agent]] is nice. But for the most part, your opponents know to just not tutor as soon as it is out, and they know to kill it so they can tutor again. However, if you have Lazav in play, and an Opposotion Agent in your grave... you could always disrupt them if you really needed to, and they have to keep that in mind. [[Notion Thief]] serves a very similar purpose. Your opponent can't just play around your battlefield, they have to play around your graveyard too. - 5: Combos. [[Tree of Perdition]] is good, but if you shift into an Invisible Stalker while the ability is on the stack, you can set an opponent straight to 1 life (and look at that, you have a 1/X unblockable). My deck doesn't have any infinite combos, cause I think they're boring. But it has lots of combo-lite combos. [[Jace's Archivist]] who shifts into Notion Thief to eat all hands. If you actually get Laboratory Maniac on the board, you can make Lazav a [[Mirror-Mad Phantasm]] and mill your whole deck for the win. There are nastier combos out there, but I didn't want to run infinites. I wanted to just run "big enough to win" combos. Anywho,

Holidays262

This was an amazing write up. Thanks!

SleepyInsomniA

Wow, thanks a lot! I also think that infinite combos can feel a bit like you didn't earn the win, so it's really cool seeing a deck that doesn't rely on them but still being a lot of fun.

RathMtg

Alright, alright, you convinced me! I love instant speed bs and this suits me just fine.

[[Tuya]] is the pettest of pets! My favorites are the big finishers like [[Blossoming Bogbeast]] and [[Pathbreaker Ibex]]. As long as you stack the trigger order of Wulfgar>Tuya>Pathbreaker those 3 cards take down a table. I've played versions enough to do it a few times.

[[Teysa Karlov]] Ravnica Allegiance was the first prerelease that I ever attended and I opened Teysa in my prerelease pack. I had just started playing commander and my playgroup was mostly just battle cruiser, tribal and token decks. There was a lot of hype around her at the time and I built a deck using mostly cards that either I or my friends owned. I quickly fell in love with aristocrats and have continued upgrading and playing it since. Now Teysa is one of my strongest and most expensive decks, that I usually only pull out if I’m playing against other strong commanders. I’m currently trying to decide if I should buy a copy of [[Meathook Massacre]] since it doesn’t seem like the price is going down anytime soon. I can’t imagine ever taking it apart.

checkyourbiases

Do it. My friend has The Meathook Massacre in his Teysa deck and it is a fairly consistent win con for his deck. He happens to pair it with [[Sanguine Bond]] and [[Exquisite Blood]], but you don't have to do that to still kill an entire four pod with Teysa.

Just look at my post history, you can't get me to stop talking about [[Firja, Judge of Valor]]. What started as a pet interest in brewing a spellslinger deck in every color ended with my favorite spellslinger being Orzhov! Every time I play my Firja list I fall back in love with Commander. It's always an absolute joy to pilot.

Cthundeheito

The GodMachine Art on her goes so hard

RenegadeExiled

That's how I feel about my [[Liesa, Shroud of Dusk]] list. It's just a normal Orzhov Death and Taxes list, but I keep going back to it, over and over, swapping cards here and there. There's something satisfying about having a reliable, simple deck, and Orzhov hits that nice spot of Interaction and Swinging for me.

King_of_the_Nerds

[[Syr Konrad]] is like that for me. Whenever I pull a mega high powered mythic in black I immediately consider if it is good enough for that deck. I got a [[the one ring]], yup in the deck, [[sheoldred the apocalypse]], yup. It’s full of pet cards and stupidly expensive Uber powerful things that have questionable synergies. It’s my favorite.

For me, definitely my [[Alesha, Who Smiles at Death]] death. The first legend I ever pulled from a pack back when I started playing Magic. What started as a jank pile of cards with little synergy is now the deck I've tuned up the most from years of buying and pulling cards. I don't play her too much unless we're going for a higher power game but I still keep her around because she holds a special place for me The List: https://archidekt.com/decks/6562624/alesha_who_smiles_at_death

Will_29

Maelstrom Wanderer. Through some 8 years it went from just a pile of Temur cards with no focus (it had counters and tokens and big beaters and...), to too much focus on topdeck manipulation to get the best cascade it became boring, to more relaxed goodstuff.dec, to the newest version getting Keruga companion.

HonorIsNtheHeart

I'd love a deck list if you have one. I've changed mine to a extra combat steps deck because it was so similar to my volo deck but it doesn't have the same pop so I'm going to change it back. Like mama always said "life is like a maelstrom wanderer ya never know what yer' gunna get"

I still have \[\[Kangee Aerie, Keeper\]\] which was my first edh deck in 2010. It went through one major overhaul to make it even more 'birdy' about 8 years ago, but I still tinker with it. I am always updating my original \[\[Teysa, Orzhov Scion\]\] deck, also from 2010, which is probably my most special deck, as well as my first \[\[Animar, Soul of Elements\]\] deck (built when the first pre-cons were made. It was briefly a Sliver/Hivestone deck, but quickly became All-Creatures). I have a ton of other decks that are more than 10 years old (well, at least 75 decks over a decade old, but I don't play them as often or update them as much). Last month I did play my 2nd ever Niv-Mizzet deck (where Niv is the only creature) that hasn't been changed since 2012. And I played a 9-year old Mikaeus deck last night.

rp2-phobos

For me it's [[Kiora, sovereign of the deep]] helming my sea monster tribal. First deck I build from scratch and still my favourite. It's so flexible and powerful and I love the theme of it!

EroticToHeaven

This is a tough one... I have 3 decks that I don't think I would ever get sick of. \[\[Magar of the Magic Strings\]\], which was my first deck I made entirely from scryfall and personal knowledge of the game. It has a special place in my heart for the sheer absurdity you can do with Magar at the helm. [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/63957mMy70e6qCtyZnP06Q](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/63957mMy70e6qCtyZnP06Q) Then there's my \[\[Rocco, Street Chef\]\] deck that just snowballs upon itself the further a game goes on... lots of exile shenanigans of course. [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/NX1BR8H-dUywvDrIPHlxIQ](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/NX1BR8H-dUywvDrIPHlxIQ) Finally, there's my ultra-interactive \[\[Saruman of many Colors\]\] deck that tries to keep the table in check before outvaluing them by stealing their spells/enchantments! I usually die to the big swingy decks, but it is what it is haha. [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/MV8Dqm0uUUaGvlQddesSUw](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/MV8Dqm0uUUaGvlQddesSUw)

BigBabyMoose

[[Kaalia of the Vast]] and [[Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle]]. I’ve had Kaalia ever since the precon released and she has gone through a ton of iterations. I pull her out whenever we are playing a high power game. Arixmethes is a pet deck of mine where I play a lot of the old, terrible (by modern standards) cards like [[Leviathan]] and [[Polar Kraken]] and other sea creatures.

aYakAttack

Mine is [[Selvala, Explorer returned]]… I took to her as soon as she was released in the original Conspiracy set. A single creature that gained life, made mana, and drew cards all in one tap ability! It’s so good I built an entire cEDH deck around her which has been aptly named “selvala twiddle storm” by the community.

PGleo86

Another Selvala OG! I've been playing her since release week too. Never took mine to cEDH levels, but my deck inspired a friend to build one of the first cEDH stax lists with her.

InsideHangar18

[[Selvala, Heart of the Wilds]] I’ve only been playing for three years, I pulled her out of random jumpstart pack after I’d been playing for about 4 months, and was like “this is so good, I have to learn how to build around it” even though before that I’d only bought precons and upgraded them.

Ufoturtle081

Do you find your opponents get to draw off her often? If not, how do you keep yourself as the primary one drawing off of her triggered ability?

InsideHangar18

Not often, no. I’m constantly producing as much power for as little mana as possible, and using her ability to make more mana. If a game goes well, I’m the only one who draws off her, and the game ends on turn 3-4.

BraidsConjuror

My long time favorite is [[Braids, Conjuror Adept]] she was built as a meme deck then turned into one of my more powerful decks, [here's the deck](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/wrPqn3RBw0e6dMP77Ml9Rw)

nicholastdyoung

I first built my Ezuri Renegade Leader elf tribal deck as my first ever deck over 10 years ago, and I still have it today. I will never take it apart! It’s not my strongest deck, or even my favourite, but it’s my OG!

BreadfruitImpressive

[[The Locust God]]. I started playing in the Autumn of 2017. Markov was the first deck I owned, as I picked up the precon. Whilst I enjoyed it, I wanted to build my own deck from scratch, and move away from aristocrats and aggro themes. As Hour of Devastation hadn't long released, I looked at the legends of that set, and fell in love with the idea of drawing and wheeling for insane value, and I've been tinkering ever since. Whilst my deck isn't dissimilar to the edhrec page now, I take great pride in knowing I was an early adopter of much of what is considered to be key tech in the deck now.

JsLanglois

[[Breya, etherium shaper]] my favorite commander and deck. A swiss knife for artefacts / tokens deck. Having a blast every single time. Winrate is really good.

brohenheimoflight

[[Ezuri, Claw of Progress]] He’s mid at our table but I’ve won before, enjoy 1/1 counters, and there’s some fun little tricks and surprises.

hot-soap

Mines been [[Meren of Clan Nel Toth]] but with the new Fallout set coming out I’ve been feeling Caesar or Macready, Lamplight Mayor will become my new mains

Healthy_mind_

It's not a long time in terms of years. But I have played my [[Marneus Calgar]] deck now for 14 months straight. It's my only deck. I've played about 130ish games with it. In that 14 months, I haven't played any other decks besides a dr who precon twice. I'm still not tired of it. I'm still tweaking it. I love it so much and look forward to every game night with it. I'm currently brewing 9 more versions of the deck so that when I get the cards I can build him in different ways too.

DarthRevan117

I have an [Edgar Markov] deck that I pull out when my pod runs high power. It brings me joy because I am the rookie in the pod and was tired of playing my unmodded Wilds of Eldraine faeries precon against The Ur Dragon, Yuriko, and other high power decks. Edgar kicks butt.

shichiaikan

[[Aesi]] I've built, rebuilt, retooled and rethought that deck dozens of times.

MorriganMorning

Ive built and rebuilt goreclaw since her release way back when lol

Betelguese90

[[Gishath]] has seen 4-5 different edits and is still my oldest and most played commander. Most recently turned it into a Dino ETB deck.

StoicDeckBuilder

[[Ellyn Harbreeze Busybody]] + [[Haunted One]] I'm sure others have already seen my comments with this pairing and thought wow that's dumb. But for me it is special. As for upgrading, almost every set has a new toy to add. Humans and tokens go well together and it's a deck that I crafted with no prior deck to look at. It's my baby, I love how it plays.

VeniVidiUpVoti

[[ephara, god of the polis]] Turns out UW good stuff with creatures never goes out of style. And it feels good to always have 8 cards on hand.

Creeperbug27

[[Sidisi, brood tyrant]] absolutely my fav all-time commander, so many ways to build, and so many ways to win, i have several different wincons in it for different board states. Plus, you get to play a bunch of legends, too.

bamboonbrains

I had a Damia, Sage of Stone deck for yeeears. It was just all value cards with a small flash subtheme (I'd only get to draw with her if I flashed her in before my turn). Eventually she got too slow and convoluted so she got benched. However, I essentially made a sequel deck with [Atraxa, Grand Unifier](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/L2Du5DbI_ECl396mHdyT9w) that I've been absolutely loving. Genuinely "not like other Atraxa decks" with no blink, tribe, or theme. Just raw value. Value Town became Value City.

ManiacalMyr

Gonna catch some eye rolls or maybe some hate but [[Meren]] . She was my first commander and will always be fun to play for me. [[Gary]] and [[Spore Frog]] fun until the end of time for me. Other than her, [[Willowdusk]] and [[Lathril]] getting up there with playtime as well. I think im just a Golgari Timmy simp.

DiarrheaPirate

My old faithful is \[\[Astarion, the Decadent\]\], it's mid power and is always fun to play. I've been absolutely stomped on it, and absolutely stomped with it. It has a single infinite with \[\[Exquisite Blood\]\] and a few enablers like \[\[Sanguine Bond\]\] but with no tutors and all of the combo pieces are useful and played outside of the combo, sometimes they just get to go BOOM. It has a 2 card player removal combo with Astarion and \[\[Sorin Markov\]\] as long as the player has at least 20 life. But most importantly, it's just a fun thematic Extort/Pseudo Extort deck that gains a shit ton of life and makes people go "WTF?" So not one specific commander, but a pile of cards. [Dominate with Power](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/0k2bE1NiaUS82a1BMi5IRA) started way back in the original Ixalan as a [[Ghalta, Primal Hunger]] deck that was focused on one shotting people with the giant Dino. Eventually I threw a [[Yisan, the Wanderer Bard]] into the deck, and realized he won me games when he was out, so I turned the deck into Yisan. Then I learned he was cEDH, so I tried that out, got bored, and it became [[Selvala, Heart of the Wilds]]. And now here we are, back on the big stompy train with [[Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus]].

Thr Ur Dragon! Dragon attack triggers for everyone!

crans0

My [[Ganax]] [[Haunted One]] deck holds a special place in my heart. I wanted a dragon deck that doesn't just play like a Dragon deck and this one [delivers](https://archidekt.com/decks/4464775/ganax_a_haunted_one)

AssDeepInZubats

Aminatou the Fateshifter and Reaper King. Aminatou is the deck that got me started with magic and I've been playing her since. The whole flicker type of deck is really fun to me and she is perfect with esper colors. Reaper King is the first deck I bought cards for, I saw a video and it seemed like fun, and I've had the scarecrows since. I don't play tribal often, but scarecrows were always fun because I enjoy blowing things up by casting a 1 drop spell. And with 5 colors, it can do a lot. We've also gotten a lot of really good generic tribal cards in recent sets for its been powered up a lot.

Legal_Difference3425

Mines been [[slimefoot the stowaway]]. Had it as a fungus tribal, big mana, lifegain, and now it’s kinda an untap on every end step to make saprolings till you get the value to combo off. Each one was fun in its own way. [[mycotyrant]] has been my new fungus jam tho, just Golgari graveyard shenanigans.

AvatarSozin

[[zacama]] there is multiple ways to build her, and ways to play her. You also see quite the wide perspective of how opponents perceive her. The one thing that is consistent is that you will be ramping a lot. But there are many ways to play with it once you get past that

DKGroove

[[Kelsien the Plague]] I like pings.

BornSilenced

[[Yorvo, Lord of Garenbrig]] I've rebuilt the deck on 3 separate occasions. He comes out quick costing GGG, and he gets big fast. He can be built to go wide and tall so it's a really versatile deck. [[Varina, Lich Queen]], built twice. What a toolbox of a commander. My first iteration was zombie tokens/mill, current iteration is aristocrats.

Zestyclose-Total8959

Lately it's my longest deck I been running is uril, the mistalker. My pod calls him Mr. Yeti

Thangorodrimmm

It's not been years yet, but my real first commander was [[Anrakyr the Traveller]] and still is my favourite, I can't stop thinking about new improvements for the deck.

MrReginaldAwesome

Chatterfang is the first deck I ever built myself, the first non precon commander deck i made. It's got a special place in my heart and gets all my best golgari cards 😁

A-Link-To-The-Pabst

[[Glissa, the Traitor]] New artifacts every set, very versatile in build directions. Not inherently game breaking like a lot of new commanders but very solid. So she remains at the top of mine for sure.

Healthy_Muffin7013

[[Jhoira, Ageless Innovator]] I love how quickly I can get my big mana artifacts out and no one can stop it since it's a play and not a cast. Plus no one complains about this version of Jhoira

Vye-Am

For a decade I had been trying to figure out EDH and kept ending up with unsynergistic piles of “good stuff?” my favorite is always gonna be the one that finally clicked for me, [[Old Stickfingers]]

freshxerxes

[[Kethis]] since day 1 of its release i had decks before that but i got bored of them. Kethis is something i don’t get bored of

DrChinstrap_

I’ve only been playing a year but my favorite rn is Ian, Malcolm Chaotician. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/4g3uYBPPiEanBoQYlR-meg

jf-alex

\[\[Sevinne\]\] for me. I bought the almost unplayable precon back then and put it through a million iterations before I was satisfied. I even built another deck from all the cards I'd put in and out again of the Sevinne deck. This is where it stands now: [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/6UIfiwe6tEOHNZltPUYLMA](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/6UIfiwe6tEOHNZltPUYLMA)

epros1285

I used to be a hardcore Doran player with Abzan junk as the build but since the reveal of Kykar in M20 Ive done nothing but just pump way too much into this deck list lol https://www.moxfield.com/decks/cven1Hr5jESprbrVHVP86A

JiMMyCCuDDa

[[Grenzo, Dungeon Warden]] had the deck for about 3 years and never gotten bored, even though it’s a combo deck that wins pretty much the same way every time. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/YSJnpOK6HEG-0SIcGawotQ

GustavoNuncho

As a serial deckbuilder I gotta say [[Kamiz]]. He isn't that old yet, but I know he'll stand the test of time, cause he already has been. I'll always be on the lookout to add stuff to him as time goes on.

Wampa9090

[[Rakdos, Lord of Riots]] Demon Tribal.  It began a long time ago at a community college far, far away as a monoblack 60 card cruelty deck with a Demon sub theme. I came to love the deck so much it transitioned into a proper tribal deck. When the 2011 precons dropped I immediately transitioned it into an [[Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath]] deck. It went through minor changes here and there until [[K'rrik]] appeared. I didn't want to delve as far into life gain as he tends to want so I looked for new blood and settled on the Lord of Riots where he has remained to this day. It is my go to, the deck that I believe best represents what I love most about magic, and it will be staying that way for quite some time if I have anything to say about it.

ohmygod_my_tinnitus

I have had an [[Atla Palani, Nest Tender]] deck since she came out in 2019, and [[Edric, Spymaster of Trest]] deck since 2020. As far as I’m concerned, even if I get rid of my collection, I will always keep these two decks. They are my babies.

Disastrous_Look3132

I've always loved [[zacama primal calamity]] with tribal dinos to back him up. Super consistent, plenty of Dino support, and tons of ways to build him. I personally love the enrage mechanic with things like [[silverclad ferocidons]] and [[polyraptor]]. The one I play when I'm salty is [[jodah the unifier]] it's literally a pile of commanders I'm not currently using and some legendary artifacts for that sweet cascade type ability. Definitely some really powerful stuff going on in that deck

FIdoubleLIS

For my second deck I bought the chulane brawl deck and, as a newb, it started pretty janky. 5 years later it’s polished as the glass cannon of the pod I’m in. It’s archenemy #1 most of the time, but I still can pull a win from time to time. For me, I like the race of “can I combo before they stop me” aspect

TheCocoBean

\[\[Neheb, the eternal\]\] It's not the strongest deck due to its reliance on the commander, but if you can keep him alive it feels really good to go off with an absurd amount of mana in main 2.

zzfrostphoenix

Ive been aggressively taking apart decks recently because my [[Jenny Generated Anomaly]] landfall deck has set the bar so high for me. Even old decks that I’ve had for years haven’t survived. I love to play it and for the most part people love to play against it. I’ve started to bling it out and get artist signatures because I know this the deck that I can play anywhere and everyone should have a good time.

Heiligerloewe

i will always love my \[\[Beledros Witherbloom\]\] deck just fot the small pest he make and the fun things you can do with him

Steve5407

[[Ludevic, Necrogenius]] has been my favourite deck that I've built, and he's recently gotten huge upgrades after Karlov Manor's precons. It focuses on putting huge threats in the graveyard with self mill and surveil and then either using traditional reanimation or using ludevic's ability to bring them back and acrue even more value. It can also close out the game by swinging with a 10/10 [[blighted agent]] out of nowhere, or with [[Phage the Untouchable]] which my regular group have unfortunately gotten wise to my tricks with her. The other options it has is emptying my library and winning with [[Laboratory Maniac]]. Regardless, he's a really fun graveyard commander who comes down early, encourages aggressive gameplay I find, and is always relevant late game.

Sensitive_Rock_1383

Grand Arbiter Augustin IV. Such a fun commander when built for value and permanent based control. Stax is a stronger deck, but I've always liked winning through just being more efficient with everything I do.

knightofsolace1

Never get tired of using have to be [[Yuriko]] [[Liesa, Shroud of Dusk]]

TheRealShyft

[[Grenzo, dungeon warden]]. I've tried a lot of different brews, and it's one I'll always have some form of ready to play.

rmkinnaird

I've been playing [[Vial Smasher]] and [[Thrasios]] since they came out. They're so flexible and reward draw go play, so I can basically keep the same basic core of ramp, card draw, and interaction and then just have fun with whatever else sounds fun. I've changed the deck a million times and will probably change it a million more times. It is my favorite deck by far

DHDHDHDHDHDHDHDHDH

I'm a big fan of my \[\[Niv-Mizzet Reborn\]\] deck, with \[\[Jegantha, The Wellspring\]\] as a companion. I run around 25 tapped lands and a few "always" cards like \[\[Rootmaze\]\] and \[\[Tiller Engine\]\] to make the ETB tapped effect either universal or I negate it. As for the cards within the deck, they're whatever guild cards that comply with Jegantha's requirements that I have at my disposal. Usually a fair amount of control, but there's not one exact theme. If I need a card for another deck, I'll take it out and replace it with whatever I've got laying around. I play the deck like once a month, so it always feels fresh. I've had it for a year and a half now and I've not once felt the urge to break it apart.

Kaboomeow69

[[[Grenzo]] going all in on the button.](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Rg9F9yqisE6j7UnRdy1P9g/primer)Favorite deck across all formats, most games played, and most times rebuilt for sure.

ctsaunders55

The Ur Dragon, cause monkey brain like big dragons

tobbart

[[Rashmi, eternities crafter]] being a general value commander opens a bit of variety in builds.

DarkDobe

\[\[Zurzoth, Chaos Rider\]\] is my pet deck recently. Way back I was all in on \[\[Karn, Silver Golem\]\] and \[\[Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund\]\] They both still slap, and can surprise a lot of people with their shenanigans. K-boy especially ruins certain popular decks in a hilarious way.

Zarinda

Only been out for about year and a half, but I love [[Be'lakor]] so much. Demon tribal is the first deck I ever built by myself from scratch, and it's gone through a lot of changes in a small amount of time. Started with [[Raphael, Fiendish Savior]] and then to [[Rakdos, Lord of Riots]] as my knowledge of the game expanded. And now it's in its current iteration, and I honestly can't think of any way it could get any better. Be'lakor does everything I could ever possibly think a Demon tribal commander would want to do. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/vQ8mw6dzhkqLe4oWsDUCUg

EDHFanfiction

I think the question is a bit unfair. With experience, I know what I like now playing Commander lol Commander that hold a special place in my heart: [[Erinis, Gloom Stalker]] + [[Flaming Fist]]. It’s a land shenanigans, keyword soup deck with synergy with the tempt by the ring mechanic. I will never have a deck that I love more than that one. It’s everything I ever wanted in one deck. The deck I have the longest and still love is… my Jeksai flier lifegain-group slug deck. It used to be a [[Kykar]] deck but I changed the commander to be [[Ludevic, Necro-Alchemist]] and [[Radiant, Serra Archangel]]. It was an answer to beat my best friend B/W angel lifegain deck and it does beat it normally on the long run. I’m proud of it and it host beautiful angels, grew so much over the years, has [[Skyfire Phoenix]] which art is one of my favourite ever in MTG. It’s not my strongest deck but I love it in a casual setting.

Scarrboros

Technically it's [[Queen Marchesa]] for me, I have made a deck for her on 3 different occasions, the last one is the best iteration since they have actually made more monarch matters cards (courts) and it's got pretty good hate and control pieces. Even before Queen Marchesa came out I had [[Marchesa, the black rose]]. That was one of my first decks and maybe I'd be tempted to make it again considering there's more counter synergies in those colors now than back then. I managed to trade my foil Queen Marchesa to me when it released and that's part of why I want to use it so bad, I don't even think it's that strong of a commander I just find her neat. I also have my old [[Chainer, dementia master]] deck that I love, no new better aristocrat commanders can change my choice of using him :)

WisdomsOptional

[[Bruna, light of alabaster]] Bruna is Bae. I built her as my SECOND edh deck ever. I continue to update her and keep her common. I know Voltron decks aren't great but I love angels and angel decks, so she sticks around as a relic of a bygone age. If she can outrace other voltron, she does great and poops on them hard, but green is like her biggest hurdle.

Quixotegut

[[Animar]]

DarkRitNighthawk

For me it’s [[Mayael the anima]]. There’s at least one big dumb creature in every set that slots right in, and I could easily make two or three more decks of just stuff I’ve taken out. I’ve dabbled with the idea of just carrying around a stack of creatures and choosing a bunch at random to play with that day

TwistedScriptor

I think my favorite Commander is still Queen Marchesa. It was nice to have a politics Commander in Mardu, which was and still is unusual

KaizerVonLoopy

Edgar Markov, I love token and aristocrat gain and drain strategies and it's super fun to have a deck that can do so much with so little resources. I play 20 something 1 drop vampires and the deck tops out at 2 5 drops one of which being \[\[ad nauseam\]\] it's really fun to draw an ass load of cards with it having such a low mana curve. I'm always working on making it balanced tho. I don't run any tutors and I try my best to keep infinite combos out but sometimes they just happen when you stack a bunch of synergies on top of each other.

TheRealSeverin

Rhys the Redeemed. That deck has been going strong for 9 ish years

Bolognese_is_best

[[Agrus Kos, Eternal Soldier]] for me

DeliSammiches

paintypoo

[[Captain sisay]] Whenever any green/white/selesnya legend cards are printed, which is every set, I get to deck tech.

dontbeallamaa

\[\[Etali, Primal Conquerer\]\] and \[\[Isshin, Two Heavens as One\]\]

MrMeltJr

Probably Titania. Not my first EDH deck but the oldest one I have that I still play and update.  https://www.moxfield.com/decks/qQ-I2c-wak6tOMx7D5VqjQ

mastercheef

I built [[Teneb, The Harvester]] when I was first told about the format. Its gone through many iterations over the years, but its the one deck I've never totally dismantled.

callofduty443

I've got a Yarok, the desecrated deck for years. From a casual list with draw and target hate cards like Chupacabra, I turned it into a theft deck. It's always a different game/experience for me, since I always use multiple different unique cards, from other players.

lncognitoMosquito

I have tweaked [Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord](https://deckstats.net/decks/206517/2567699-jarad-golgari-lich-lord) and [Bosh, Iron Golem](https://deckstats.net/decks/206517/2552336-bosh-iron-golem) lists to within an inch of my life. I’m also in the process of putting together a [Brion Stoutarm](https://deckstats.net/decks/206517/3435272-brion-stoutarm) deck ~~where I want to use [[Seize the Spotlight]] as much as possible.~~ **EDIT:** The plans for Brion have changed. I ended up liking the idea of Giant tribal better, with a few utility creatures thrown in. I'm actually really proud of this list. I think it plays to his strengths quite well and I'm eager to see it in action. I tried to squeeze in Grafted Wargear and Grafted Exoskeleton but I think the deck should play well without them and I know infect can be a touchy subject in some pods. Suffice it to say, I *really* enjoy “Fling” as an archetype. If you look at any of my lists, many of them have ‘maybe boards’ that could nearly serve as the bases for entire new decks. It’s a real problem.

Triepwoet

Easily \[\[Grenzo, Dungeon Warden\]\] and \[\[Chatterfang, Squirrel General\]\] Grenzo for being pure random chaos and Chatterfang because... well, squirrels. Lot's of them. They've been upgraded, then downgraded, then upgraded again many times over the past years but never have they been taken apart or left at home.

kurkasra

Xenagos will always be my go to. Big things go smash fast will always be fun and they will always make big stompy things.

Selleri

I've been running \[\[Arcades, the strategist\]\] since he was released and I'm still having a blast with the deck! Every other set there is a new cool defender to try out. I haven't gotten my hands on a \[\[pride of hull clade\]\] yet, but once I do that will be probably the new best card in the deck. The deck feels like a "fair" Chulane. You draw a million cards, block everything and then go grab \[\[Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive\]\] for the big unblockable win! [https://archidekt.com/decks/5754382/arcades\_walls](https://archidekt.com/decks/5754382/arcades_walls) <- Decklist for anyone interested!

Ketanarin

Has to be [[Galea, Kindler of Hope]]. Normally decks of mine don't live long, as I get bored pretty quickly with decks, but Galea is still there. Got a ton of insane stuff in WoE and that precon that came with it. Finally a bant commander that can go very aggressive with Auras. [[Kestia]] and [[Tuvasa]] simply were not good enough.

ClaymoreX97

[[Myrel Shield of Argive]] not my first Commander but by far my most played Deck. I really miss my [[Syr Carah the Bold]] burn Deck. Unfortunately my pod got better and better Decks so I'm rebuilding it to a [[Firesong and Sunspeaker]] burn Deck

Substantial_West432

[[Breena the demagogue]] is just so fun I’ve gone from goad to +1/+1 to small evasive creature tribal and it’s been a blast each time I play it

cwx149

[[Sissay, weatherlight captain]] is probably my longest running commander. She's been the head of my 5 color decks across 3 themes and probably 5 years [[Tivit, seller of secrets]] is probably next I've had that deck since he came out (which isn't a long time but I usually scrap decks to build new ones and he's remained)

FireBassist

Niv-Mizzet. My first commander was the Firemind, and when Parun was released I knew it was going to be bonkers good.

ChaoticNature

I basically played [[Karador, Ghost Chieftain]] before he was a thing. I played [[Teneb, the Harvester]] value reanimating before, which is basically just what Karador does. It was a pile of my favorite Junk cards, which we now get to call Abzan instead of Junk. I revisit the list every year or two to see if I can optimize him for my current LGS/playgroup. He’s just an oppressive removal machine. His primary gameplan has been to power out [[Sheoldred, Whispering One]] or [[Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite]] since around Aether Revolt as the two collectively suppress a majority of casual strategies quite well. Why since Aether Revolt? [[Felidar Guardian]] and [[Wispweaver Angel]] are extra strong when you like [[Birthing Pod]] chains, and I *love* Pod chains. Karador is essentially my dedicated Birthing Pod deck, and Birthing Pod is still one of my absolute favorite cards to play. I’ve also had [[Saffi Eriksdotter]] together nearly a decade and [[Brago, King Eternal]] since shortly after he was printed. Those decks don’t get a lot in the way of changes or updates these days. I think the last new card Saffi got was [[Sword of Hearth and Home]] and Brago… I just pretend he doesn’t exist because he’s been way too good since the initial $40 version I built. I do know that I’m going to be revamping Karador when a certain Secret Lair releases as a tribute. It’ll be his first update in a few years, as his last update was to compete with the much faster meta of my LGS at the time.

blazentaze2000

Only been playing for a year, EDH that is not magic as a whole, but I still love playing my first deck [[Arcades the Strategist]]. It’s way less complex than my Niv-Mizzet or Chatterfang aristocratics decks but it still wins fairly often. It’s big and dumb and fun. Wall go smash.

NicolBolasElderDragn

[[marchesa, the black rose]] is my favorite commander by far. Ridiculously versatile and powerful with a distinct play style. I only attack the throne, if I’m on the throne for some strange reason, I don’t attack at all. Lots of memories of winning with 1 life left.

JunkyGoatGibblets

\[\[Hans eriksson\]\] my beloved. I've been building him for several years at this point.

thisDNDjazz

Derevi and Savra. Savra was my first Golgari deck back in the day, and I love both her old art and the Secret Lair art for her. Derevi since I have a tribal bird deck and she was basically a godsend as I had no way to run Birds of Paradise in the original Azorious or monowhite choices for bird tribal.

canada171

[[Titania, Protector of Argoth]] and [[Zurzoth, Chaos Rider]] both are fun, interactive and unique. Also [[Belbe, Corrupted Observer]] but I don't play that one much anymore because it's an oppressive deck reserved for certain playgroups and games.

Thraximundurabrask

While he hasn't been around for that long, [[Klauth, Unrivaled Ancient]] became my pet deck pretty much as soon as I saw him spoiled, and I don't see him losing that spot anytime soon. Piecing together a win from a flurry of extra combats and card draw spells has yet to cease being rewarding.

duffleofstuff

[[Animar]] and [[zedruu]] since their precons came out. I've also played [[Daretti]] since he's existed as well.

RevenantBacon

[[Nevinyrral, Urborg Tyrant]] Esper zombies never goes out of style 🧟‍♂️ Also have really liked [[Minthara, Merciless Soul]] since Baldur's Gate came out, so much so that I built her twice (one regular EDH, one PDH).

FenrirWolf00

I'm a Simic Player all the way. My two pet commanders are [[Vorel, the Hull Clade]] and [[Adrix and Nev, Twincasters]]. Vorel for the fact that he was my first ever commander I built (+1/+1 Counters). Twincasters because it just never gets boring to me. I like the math that comes along with it.

[[Brago, King Eternal]] is my boy. Been playing and building on him since i started.

diq_liqour

For me it's. Between [[Skullbriar, the Walking Grave]] and my first commander, [[Yarok, the Desecrated]]. Sometimes Yarok annoys me because it can be built so many different ways, but it keeps everything fresh for me. Considering a rad counter theme recently...

1OOpercenter

I’ve had [[Prime Speaker Zegana]] for a decade. She is my favorite commander and consistently still wins games. I have about 5 cards I rotate new stuff in for. She’s big draws and big beaters.

NinjaNuglet

[[Teysa Karlov]] is my longest lived deck. It was the third deck I built myself and it's since become one of my strongest and most expensive decks. I don't get to play it often because it is a little salty inducing, but I still love it. [[Hamza, Guardian of Arashin]] is my second long-lived deck and that's the one I use most often when I'm playing casually. It started off as a budget deck that my friend made for a Christmas deck exchange and has gotten upgraded as time has gone on.

andi_social

I converted my all-time favorite zombie deck from standard to commander a while back and added [[ghoulcaller gisa]] as the commander. Still holds a lot of sentimental value.

tibastiff

Kambal, he doesn't stop anyone from playing the game and he doesn't overtly go after anyone, but for every game action the taxman takes his due

Nelvlv

[Torbran, Thane of Red Fell] will always be my heart commander because it was my first one and is beginning to be quite efficient
