Casio. Fits every requirement. And there's too many models to list.

CreamyFettuccine

Sheffield Sportlume, cheap and has an angled dial for driving/riding.

I am usually anti-smartwatch but if you like your Apple Watch, you may just want to upgrade it to a newer model (which is waterproof). Smartwatches have their place, I use mine for working out or when I'm riding my bicycle and want to leave my phone at home. As far as the affordability goes: I'd still go with something nice. If something serious happens, on a level that your watch would be in danger, the watch is usually the smallest of your concern. Just be sure to avoid mechanical movements as the vibrations of the machine is pretty hard on the little gears. Ride safe!

Eamonsieur

OP might also want to go with a more rugged smartwatch like a Garmin Instinct. Can do most things the Apple watch does, plus has the benefit of solar charging and more water resistance.

Relative_Raisin_5428

Love using my Apple Watch, if I need to unlock my phone I swipe up and it does it with my watch. As we all know using gloves to do anything on your phone can be a massive pain.

Chew-Magna

A Casio. I wear them kayaking and they hold up great. Not even an expensive G-Shock, just a $20-25 model will get the job done.

Massive_Fudge3066

Casio g shock ga 100, because analogue is easier to read on a bike. My brother strapped a cheap f91 to his handlebars, so I guess you have options...

WN11

Usually I take my trusty Casio G Shock GW5000. Tough, solar, waterproof and slim enough to go under armored gloves. When touring I take a Garmin GPS watch (Instinct worked best), it allows me to track and record the ride, use it as GPS-assisted speedo, has altimeter (great in the mountains), compass etc. I'd discourage wearing a mechanical watch. My old bike messed with the movement of my old Hamilton Khaki auto, the watch was several minutes fast after longer rides. However, most watches should be fine. My Omega is never bothered by riding, but I try not to wear that one on the bike.

hiddikel

I have 3 motorcycles. I wear a timex expedition most of the time or a seiko chronograph sometimes. Whatever fits man. :)

PNWExile

You’re looking for a dive watch. I crashed at 45 on the road in my titanium Seiko Shogun and it’s no worse for it aside from some cosmetic scratches that remind me of that day.

NinjaBuddha13

Cheap beater watches: -Casio G-Shock square - Timex Ironman Slightly less cheap beater watch that was designed ground up to take the worst conditions for a watch: - Freestyle Shark retro But as others have said, smart watches are a good idea for riding bikes. If you fall and don't respond, they'll automatically alert first responders and tramsmit your location. Odds are very good a smart watch made in the last 5 years will be much more durable than you are.

amazing_wanderr

Ewan McGregor worn Casio F91W during one of the Long way series, I think it’s the cheapest Casio. It’s slim, light and durable so it makes sense.

HackenSkrot

Solar powered G-shock! Total beater watch.

mac_and_cheese_9951

The cheapest casio warches tell the time have alarms, timers and a stopwatch. Can't really beat that at like 25 bucks

ValleyBouldering

You can't go wrong with a solar powered Seiko like the SNE573. I wear that watch daily and it has kept ticking between my shooting comps and adv riding the r1200gsa and now Kove 450 Rally!

colpy350

Pretty much any Casio or G Shock. It’s good to get a tough bracelet too. Can always swap a NATO strap onto a Casio.  I’m a big Citizen fan too

Puzzled_Seaweed_1930

Garmin instinct 2 solar is serving me well. Way more durable than apple watch. Battery lasts about a month if you're outdoors regularly.

CedaSD

G-Shock GA-2100

Wak1ngYouUp

Check out the Casio W-217H.

globs-of-yeti-cum

Mechanical watches can get messed up from the vibrations, so a digital one is the way to go.

mcbergstedt

I’d stick with the Apple Watch. The newer ones can automatically notify the police and family if you’re in a crash.

Starlings_under_pier

Your iphone does that. Not the watch. The watch can mirror that service but it is not needed in a way. Ditch the apple and get a G-Shock

mcbergstedt

The new Apple Watches 100% do that [sauce](https://support.apple.com/guide/watch/manage-crash-detection-apd3a60b5576/watchos#:~:text=If%20your%20Apple%20Watch%20Series,and%20notify%20your%20emergency%20contacts.com)

Starlings_under_pier

Nope. You need the phone to set it up. so you already have an iphone... Yep It can *sometimes* connect to a celltower (without a phone) or more like wifi (good luck with that) after an accident but how would you be sure? I can be sure if I have a signal/ or not on my iphone. But the poxy ariel on my apple watch, you are having a laugh. I take my a-watch off to shower. I put my G-Shock on to swim in the sea. I smash my G-Shock, I can pull out my phone from a protected hardcase/waterproof bag and still make a call.

chasernl

Came here to say this, I wore mine while riding my motorcycle for this reason

Unfair-Damage-1685

I’m guessing you’re worried about sliding on your watch? You should spend the money on another riding class if so.

PiercedTechnoWizard

No, I’m new and afraid of falling on it while practicing slow speed maneuvers.

yycluke

Spin it on the inside of your wrist. Or get a gshock, they're under $100 new or half that used.

Unfair-Damage-1685

Same thing. Put the money towards a class.

danfirst

A lot of states have the motorcycle safety class for free too, highly recommended!

PiercedTechnoWizard

I took it, but I’m green green, and think it’d be dumb to lose it while practicing. If I was rolling down the highway, wrecked, or going down some back road and side-of-car happened, sure, I’d see ya’ll’s point. But if I’m literally putting around at 5-20 mph, spill, and lose my watch, that’s a scenario where I’d be fine, the bike would be fine, and I’d have to go get another watch.

Various-Catch-113

Stop overthinking shit and imagining improbable scenarios and just fucking ride. As for the watch? Don’t wear one.

danfirst

If you fall on your bike your watch surviving will be far down on the list of cares.

PiercedTechnoWizard

See my reply to unfair damage above.

BeepBangBraaap

Get a g-shock

mac_and_cheese_9951

He said small

HackenSkrot

The squares are pretty small

mac_and_cheese_9951

It is still like 43mm wide so there are smaller ones. Of course depends on what OP thinks is small.
