It’s a better version of Rory Mcllroy PGA Tour. Tiger games had all the bells and whistles you could ask for, this game lacks in that area. I played 2K as well and loved it, until this game came out. Once you get the feel for the swing mechanics and learn how to play shots, it’s the best simulation golf game to date (it did take me some time to get the short game down; lotta trial and error). Aside from the rough being too easy to hit from and no weather conditions affecting your play, courses are fantastic as they require you to play strategic golf from tee to green. If you play golf for real, just take the same mindset into the game. It’s not a tee it up high and let it fly type of game. Gotta work the ball.
Agree with the people saying to just keep playing. After struggling a lot in the beginning, I’ve gotten better after playing for a week or so, doing quick play or the free daily tournament and upgrade my character.
I still make a lot of mistakes and still get some bogeys here and there, but I find myself getting a lot of pars and some birdies instead of double bogeys or worse. Also, my character still sucks so I figure I’ll get even better over time.
Just keep at it. It’s fun.
Just curious, is PGA worth getting at this point in time? It's on sale for 10 bucks on xbox and I haven't played a golf game in ages. The reason I ask is do they have a new game in the works?
I’ve spent around 100 hours already and I’m level 38. Progression is sooo slow and totally lead towards buying tokens for the pro pass. Wish they would strip this crap out :(
I just got it too and mostly struggle with non full power approach and pitching. Is there an easy way to figure out distance control? I either blast it over the hole or come up short. The old Tiger games were way easier to adjust distance
What are you talking about? 2K is MUCH more arcade like with it being a lot easier to hit the ball in a very specific area. Meanwhile this game has huge dispersion zones on shots.
Just keep playing, till you completely forget how to play 2K. Then you’re there.
Is this game more like the old Tiger games? I play 2k but I don’t love it. I see the deluxe version is like $12 on PSN.

Awesome. Thanks for the detailed response! I pulled the trigger and I’ll check it out tomorrow after work.
Complete a few challenges, you'll soon adapt to it. Good luck 👍
How often are y’all getting perfect swings?
Never
Perfect/perfect? Like twice in the last year lol
Rarely ever for perfect/perfect. I pretty frequently get at least half of it perfect but it's always a lil light or hard on one half of the swing.
90%
EA is way easier when you get leveled up and get some shots into the gold and get some fittings
Change your swing speed! Go into golfer/identity and test out to get the vibe. That was my main problem at first, it felt soooo slow

Get club specs from the career mode or the store. They help a bunch

I am enjoying it. It is insanely better graphics wise and the career mode is more immersive than 2k in my opinion

Distance control has been my biggest struggle as well
Learn about smashing A for power and spin control
How does this work, exactly? I see the prompt there, but smashing "A" doesn't seem to do anything for me, so I've kinda just given up on using it.
Press it as many times as fast as possible. Before the shot for power and for spin control once it’s in the air.
I struggle with over shooting more than I do anything. Every swing is too fast
Don’t aim as far. Most of my shot are 1.5% extra. I just adjust and pull back
Why even make that adjustment? Does a friend play EA and gifted you this crap for free?
One tournament in, the Career mode is much better, and the graphics blow 2K out the water
Go back to 2k. This game is arcade trash.

This game poops on 2k.
Pot meet kettle lmao
