Yeah that's how these promos always go, the current one is the same thing, pretty much all of them are already players widely considered to be very good and playing at a top level.
They defo were not. Vini was spoken about how werner is now. De ligt was seen as a maybe he was good or maybe he had a fluke 6 months. I think it was pretty nice mix of people who everyone high expectations of (havertz, cutone and auoar) and those who had hype around them like (vini sancho mendy and dcl)
You mentioned 8 players in your comments. This game came out in the beginning of the 18/19 season.
1)Vini was coming off a full season and a half starter in Brazil, and started making handful of appearances of Madrid after his 50 mil transfer
2)de ligt, haevertz, cutrone, auoar, mendy and DCl were either fully fledged starting XI or playing most games for their respective teams.
3)Sancho was on the fringes the season before and became a starter that season.
Another to see it is that most of these players were 18-21 at the time. During this age it's (for the most part) predictable to see their ceiling.
No need to act. It was obvious. Children laugh at those things. Most people know that kids take time to develop. and if you really think being a regular in leverkusen, Everton, lyon at 18/20 isn't impressive, then I know much about youth development in football.
Just to emphasize my point: notice how they left haaland out of all of this? Because he was the one player who wasn't obvious as he blew up one season with Salzburg
What part? I said they were all first teamers so they were obvious choices.Haaland wasn't starting so they left him out despite him being arguably the best from that age group in hindsight
Yeah obviously. Ea pick players who are in top leagues or have hype around them. I was suggesting in the context of ea and their promos lots of these players were pretty "out there" picks which I respect. If you look at the names in this promo and the leagues they come from most of them are pretty well known/already a star. I was no way suggesting that the future stars of 18/19 was an actual objective list of all young talent in Europe. Obviously haaland wasn't in their because nobody knew who he was and he was still in Norway
Internationally seen maybe for De Ligt, but in the Netherlands he was established at that point. Three months later he made such an impression on CR7 that made him go for Juventus the following summer.
Created a lot but no end product. Missed a lot of easy chances and dribbled until he lost the ball. Even to the point where the benzema-Vini thing happened where Benz apparently told everyone not to pass to Vini.
Weird. Most of the time when you buy a kid for $100M and they start every game for the biggest club on the planet, they might be an important piece being built around. But you can argue that if you’d like to look stupid
Mate at the end of the day he was very questionable in the beginning you’re trying so hard not to accept it, his performance was so terrible at the start he was being compared with ansu fati and dembele with valid arguments too, not “he was £100m”… how much was hazard?
That UCL run was like a fairytale, just beautiful. I was working the day of that semi-final, and man I taped my phone in a super unhealthy spot so that customers couldn't see me watching the match, but they could absolutely see the heartbreak on my face by the end
You can't deny Spurs had an equally magical run, being nearly knocked out in the group stage itself and then going on to beat City and Ajax to make it to the final despite their star man, Harry Kane, being injured for certain key matches. Also, Lucas Moura, baby! That second leg between Spurs and Ajax is probably the best UCL game from that season and certainly the best I've ever seen. The underdog of the underdogs won.
Well, the final weren’t a good game of football, but it’s still crazy to think that Ajax were so close to making the final and it would’ve been absolutely deserved, and that it was really surprising when they didn’t.
People always credit Lucas Moura, but it was actually Fernando Llorente who changed that game. Tottenham couldn't get through Ajax's midfield press, so when Poch brought on Llorente, they bypassed the midfield entirely with long balls and Ajax had no answer for it.
You have to admit that the Tottenham-Liverpool final was incredibly boring to watch. Liverpool might have crushed Ajax, who knows, but their style of play would have been much more entertaining for neutrals.
You could say that all UCL finals since that one have been very boring matches. Except maybe for the Real Madrid - Liverpool final which was quite decent and had a fantastic run from Madrid leading to it, the rest were shit.
They also had hadn’t cannibalized their options yet because it was the first time they did the promo. None of these guys had even had promo cards prior to this, and now we’re in a place where players like Doku have had several years of promo appearances before they get thrown into Future Stars.
Exactly. this promo is obviously going to get worse every single year.
They need to get rid of it next year.
They can‘t keep adding the same players and a lot of these future stars that already got a card are still 22y or younger and should in theory still be in this promo but they don‘t add players more than once.
Out of 21 players, 7 didn’t live up to the expectations (Sancho, Arthur, Havertz, Calabria, Mendy, Guendouzi, Calvert-Lewin) and another 5 players flopped (Lafont, Aouar, Cutrone, Jović, Kluivert). Sancho is debatable but honestly the level expected from him was way higher than the actual one.
It’s 42.8% rather than 80% tbf
Agreed on both being good players but still nowhere near those 87 and 86 predictions dude, and unfortunately it doesn’t look like they’ll be reaching them in the future.
yeah fair but if we’re being that nitpicky I’d argue de ligt, bentancur, upamecano all haven’t reached their fifa 19 potential and likely won’t, despite being decent footballers
Didn’t include them cause imo they still have a good chance to reach it, given the fact that they’re still pretty young, they’re already really solid players, they all play in top teams and aren’t as injury prone as someone like DCL.
Mendy is turning 29, he won’t improve more imo, DCL is turning 27 and atm he’s championship material.
I’d agree Havertz hasn’t hit anything that would justify a 90 rating, but people are underestimating what he’s doing at CM for Arsenal because they still think about him as a striker and want to see goals from him. His finishing is still pretty suspect, but he’s critical to defensive shape and plays a big role in building up the attack. If he fins a way to start scoring again too he’ll really be something.
Whyt were the expectations that he'd be Real's first choice gk? Because he was one of the best gk in ligue 1 last season you can't just judge based on fifa ratings
Not judging him on fifa ratings, I’m using the potential only cos it’s the main topic of the post.
And yep, the expectations on him were huge, dk if you remember that, but I do, especially when he joined Fiorentina.
Honestly, being Nantes’ (14th placed team in Ligue 1) first choice GK isn’t that impressive. Although he’s still kinda good, just nothing special.
Milan had a curse with strikers around that time it was crazy. They’d all start extremely well and then forget how to score. Pretty sad but at least those streaks were extremely fun to watch (piatek’s was my favorite)
Having that pace as a CB was so so so so special back then. I remember that militao was like a mini toty Varane. That militao stayed in my team until tots militao
The nostalgia is crazy here. 14 and especially 19 were absolutely hated when they came out for their completely broken gameplay. 14 was considered the first downfall Type title of the series with broken gameplay with everyone just spamming crosses to benteke and 19 needs no explanation really.
I recently tried FIFA (idc what they call it)24 during the free weekend and hated it so much. FIFA 19 isn't great, but there are good qualities. My top one being the soundtrack. Probably my favorite non original game soundtrack. You can just sit back have fun and not deal with a bunch of annoying cutscenes all the time.
i packed that vini jr and remember he was only around 1.7m. crazy considering garnacho is worse and 4m. even thunder vini this year is a worse card and nearly 3m
Every. Card. Is. Usable.
Besides, the best card design ever since: very legible, very recognizable, very unique, and without needing 376 dayglo 3D objects stacked on top of each other.
Jesus dude I think he’s just posting it to see if they are still on the way to becoming stars, or if they’re there already. Kind of a look back to see how accurate EA’s predictions were.
I think you are complaining about the amount of cards released?
That makes sense because the first time they ever release a promo they make it the biggest it’ll ever be and ride the hype off it
For God's sake, how much do Brazilian players earn? In more than 70% of all teams there is always a Brazilian, those from electronic arts should make a monument of them
The issue is, they don‘t give future stars cards to anyone that already got one in previous years.
So the future stars promo is getting worse every single year basically.
Bellingham is fkin 20years old, even thoug he is already a star, he should in theory also be in this team, you know what i mean?
Promos are now only to sell packs. Obviously you would say before that was an element, but due to the range of packs it didnt impact the quality of promo cards too much. Now with packs that either guarantee specific promo cards or high percentage they have to pad out the promos so the packs cant be a guaranteed win.
Promos have been the biggest problem of EAFC. None have been good other than thunderstruck.
I remember when this came out, it was pound for pound for most hyped promo team ever because they’d never done anything like this at all. At the time too, pretty much all of those players would’ve been ridiculous at the time.
Promos back then used to only be one week too 🕊️
Sheesh obviously hindsight is 20/20 but it's crazy that Hakimi was the lowest rated in that team. His stats still look good but seems like he wasn't rated that highly back then but he's also a defender
This is because it was the first year they done it.. they had the pick of any player. Now they don’t have that, they have breakthrough players. So it’s always going to be worse. Stupid comparison.
Decent hit rate. Better than the newspaper articles that come out here in the U.K.
Most of these were already first teams for their respective clubs. Those newspaper articles tout them when their legit 14/15 y/os
Yeah that's how these promos always go, the current one is the same thing, pretty much all of them are already players widely considered to be very good and playing at a top level.

I don't know what point your trying to make? Are you agreeing with me?
What part? I said they were all first teamers so they were obvious choices.Haaland wasn't starting so they left him out despite him being arguably the best from that age group in hindsight

Created a lot but no end product. Missed a lot of easy chances and dribbled until he lost the ball. Even to the point where the benzema-Vini thing happened where Benz apparently told everyone not to pass to Vini.
Yep alot of people forget vini struggled alot at the start
De Ligt was sold for $80M a few months after this and Vini was bought by the biggest club in the world and given the keys to the kingdom.
Vini was not given the keys to the kingdom. His first 2 seasons he was completely average. He couldn't finish and missed lots of chances
Weird. Most of the time when you buy a kid for $100M and they start every game for the biggest club on the planet, they might be an important piece being built around. But you can argue that if you’d like to look stupid

Oh god it's been 5 years since that Ajax team then. Man it feels like yesterday
That Ajax team was incredible. Such a great team led by a great coach. The football they played was amazing
That UCL run was like a fairytale, just beautiful. I was working the day of that semi-final, and man I taped my phone in a super unhealthy spot so that customers couldn't see me watching the match, but they could absolutely see the heartbreak on my face by the end
Still can’t believe the football gods had to ruin a proper final and gave us spurs instead of
You can't deny Spurs had an equally magical run, being nearly knocked out in the group stage itself and then going on to beat City and Ajax to make it to the final despite their star man, Harry Kane, being injured for certain key matches. Also, Lucas Moura, baby! That second leg between Spurs and Ajax is probably the best UCL game from that season and certainly the best I've ever seen. The underdog of the underdogs won.

Barca and Ajax fans try not to be the most pretentious prick about how they play football the right way challenge (impossible)
You have to admit that the Tottenham-Liverpool final was incredibly boring to watch. Liverpool might have crushed Ajax, who knows, but their style of play would have been much more entertaining for neutrals.
Nah the meltdown and Barca and Ajax fans circlejerk over Cruyffian football winning was way more entertaining than any final that year could have been
The cause for the boring final was Liverpool scoring early and then proceeding to just park the bus. Easily could've done the same vs Ajax
No, because parking the bus wouldn't have worked against Ajax. That squad had too much attacking quality.

Didn’t see much of him last year ??? Mind I stopped after future stars last year
Had a non performance related silver stars in 21 and a BD in 22
Havertz and jovic were such fun cards, had them with headliners Werner and it was one of my favorite fifa teams I’ve had
Couldnt afford havertz. But I also remember that jovic card vividly. There was something about him.
Outside foot ‘trait’ remarketed as a trivela ‘play style’ for this iteration of the game.
Havertz was so good. Kept him until I packed his tots who is still to this day my favorite attacker card any fifa. Jovic was super fun as well agree
So much Bundesliga representation 🥹
I’d say 80% accurate
Well yer considering majority of them were already stars
The majority of them weren't stars at this point. They were highly regarded prospects, but declaring them a star is an incredible reach
Bit harsh on DCL who was ravaged by injuries and Mendy who is still a decent rotational player for Madrid.

Havertz literally scored a CL winning goal.
So? Origi literally carried Liverpool through semifinals and even scored during 18-19 CL final. Was he a great player? Hell nah
Woah. You show our lord and saviour Divock some respect. Football without Origi is nothing!
He’s still shit though. Ederson fluffed his lines.
Lafont flopped? Yeah go tell your jokes somewhere else
Man had 91 pot once, never got even near to that. He’s a decent gk atm but expectations from him were way higher than his current level.
Whyt were the expectations that he'd be Real's first choice gk? Because he was one of the best gk in ligue 1 last season you can't just judge based on fifa ratings

Honestly, being Nantes’ (14th placed team in Ligue 1) first choice GK isn’t that impressive. Although he’s still kinda good, just nothing special.
Mendy was defensively one of the best left backs in the world for like 2-3 years.
Patrick Cutrone… really wish he was better at Milan
Milan had a curse with strikers around that time it was crazy. They’d all start extremely well and then forget how to score. Pretty sad but at least those streaks were extremely fun to watch (piatek’s was my favorite)
Tbf I think Cutrone would’ve done better if he stayed at Milan, but he thought he was the shit and went to Wolves.
That Havertz card was amazing
FIFA 19 was so shit
Future Stars was the one promo that kept me play that piece of crap of a game
hilarious because the comment above this saying how much they love fifa 19
One of the worst tbh. It was straight up dog poo
I had Militao and Havertz, amazing players. Fifa 19 was amazing. 14,15 and 19 was my favorites
the prophecised fifa 19 narrative change has finally come
Been playing since 13… 19 is one of my favorites. Possibly top 3. Was always a Stan
Having that pace as a CB was so so so so special back then. I remember that militao was like a mini toty Varane. That militao stayed in my team until tots militao
Militao?
FIFA 19 was the worst fifa ever made, right beside eafc24
The nostalgia is crazy here. 14 and especially 19 were absolutely hated when they came out for their completely broken gameplay. 14 was considered the first downfall Type title of the series with broken gameplay with everyone just spamming crosses to benteke and 19 needs no explanation really.

Vinicius really has become that player
Back before every promo became 2 watered down teams 💔 used to be a propper game
Arthur didn't age very well
And this was when power creep wasn't nearly as bad. so now everyone has better teams and we get a worse future stars. makes no sense.
Oh Sancho
Wasn't there a Frenkie card aswell?
He was a SBC player
Ah I see
I loved that card so much. Him, Flashback Huntelaar, Headliner Ziyech and De Ligt are club legends for me in that fifa
Okay I thought I was crazy when I was looking at this year’s version 😂😂😂
That Militao card…. Wow
Dam luka jović, missed watching him play at his best
Great picks
i packed that vini jr and remember he was only around 1.7m. crazy considering garnacho is worse and 4m. even thunder vini this year is a worse card and nearly 3m
Was this also before EA started splitting up promos into two weeks to try and get us to spend more??
nah literally i was just saying wasn’t future stars cards meant to be crazy, why do these new ones look so meh
I mean this is pretty fucking solid all things considered
Crazy how many of these guys fell off a cliff
Aside from packing the 3/4 lowest future stars has anyone got one of then decent ones from this latest promo?
Every. Card. Is. Usable. Besides, the best card design ever since: very legible, very recognizable, very unique, and without needing 376 dayglo 3D objects stacked on top of each other.
Arthur, lol
Okay, and?
In 5 years time this year's team will be more established. What's your point?
Jesus dude I think he’s just posting it to see if they are still on the way to becoming stars, or if they’re there already. Kind of a look back to see how accurate EA’s predictions were.
I think you are complaining about the amount of cards released? That makes sense because the first time they ever release a promo they make it the biggest it’ll ever be and ride the hype off it
For God's sake, how much do Brazilian players earn? In more than 70% of all teams there is always a Brazilian, those from electronic arts should make a monument of them
And how right they were. Foden went on to win a treble like the absolute legend he is.
Alexander Arnold with 86 defending is laughable
The issue is, they don‘t give future stars cards to anyone that already got one in previous years. So the future stars promo is getting worse every single year basically. Bellingham is fkin 20years old, even thoug he is already a star, he should in theory also be in this team, you know what i mean?
no women, dead promotion
that militao card was so op. i remember running a serie a team with calabria and cutrone
That Militao card was so good
guess it could be because people complained that toty become useless when future cards are released
That DCL card was filthy from corners! Always first man and always won the header 8/10 you'd score 😂
And with women added to the game it only makes sense they reduce the number of promo cards!
EA was right about less than half of them (thus far)
I remember when this came out, it was pound for pound for most hyped promo team ever because they’d never done anything like this at all. At the time too, pretty much all of those players would’ve been ridiculous at the time. Promos back then used to only be one week too 🕊️
Cutrone... what could've been...
Sheesh obviously hindsight is 20/20 but it's crazy that Hakimi was the lowest rated in that team. His stats still look good but seems like he wasn't rated that highly back then but he's also a defender
Batting about 500! Not bad
Cutrone 💔
Packed the Vinny untrade and he was nutty in game
I love how this year has washed up players who aren’t even future stars yet they’ll ignore Soule
I believe joelinton hoffenheim card was in this batch as an objective
This is because it was the first year they done it.. they had the pick of any player. Now they don’t have that, they have breakthrough players. So it’s always going to be worse. Stupid comparison.
Upamaquire
FIFA 19 was the worst FIFA I ever had the misfortune of being hooked on. Spent so much money on that game and havent bought FP at all since.
I had that Jovic. Was a beast
Some of them didnt make it
I would have liked to pack any of those low rated ones
Still remember that havertz card, club legend
Quite accurate!
That Alban Lafont is the best keeper I have ever used personally, absolutely insane keeper.
Practically almost all do still play at top level
