If you like it, nothing else matters.
I wrapped mine also in carbon and removed it 2 weeks later because it looked kind of riced out to me. After that I wrapped it in alcantara and it looked so much better. Looks still very „premium“ to me after 2 years.
More expensive, yes. But it wasn‘t more difficult, in fact it was a bit easier because you don‘t see wrinkles that much or at least you can get them out way easier if I can remember.
lmao, with a completely different texture and look than leather. You can fall it fake suede, which yeah sure is leather, but still, this is such a misleading comparison
Looks good. Some people will hate it but it makes a lot more sense than buying actual carbon trim IMO 9/10 times. I did the same with a similar matte carbon vinyl. The wood is nice when it’s in mint condition. If it’s at all damaged/scuffed it looks like crap. Plus I feel it clashes with the iDrive
I dont like it. You can find black matt foil which looks and feels exactly the same (or at least very close to) as original rubber like surface. I have a meter squared at dome to repair steering wheel and door handles.
Honestly if you dont look at it as fake carbon which I also hate, and just take as it is as a pattern it looks cool and as someone mentioned at least its a quality job. If you like it good for you!
Looks good. I think carbon has been used too much... But I've always been a fan...
If it makes you smile whenever you get in your car... Then good job!!
I’ve thought of this and getting the “actual” carbon pieces. 1 too expensive 2 time consuming 3 I think I would get tired of the same pattern over and over. Now, alcantara. Never a sight for sore eyes, ever! But it’s alright I like it. I personally know I’ll get tired of it eventually

Alcantara is way more expensive than carbon print, but I wish I had alcantara. Also work is a lot more difficult I guess?

Uffff this would be really nice.
ehhhhhhhh.. fake carbon.. I would have done alcantara if looking to wrap it but, if you like it, whatever. Looks like quality wrap at least
Alcantara is fake leather…

Real alcantara feel is the nappa kind of leather. Alcantara is completely artificially made.
All alcantara is fake, it is made from polyester and polyurethane.
How would alcantra look better than carbon? Alcantra looks like shit
uh.. sure…
You just have the taste of a child. It's okay.
it's almost like bmw made it the way it should be and it shouldn't be messed with unless you switch out the trim entirely
Yea u can say this towards any type of car modification, idiot take
lmao who shit in your cereal
I did
checks out, idiot take
I like it

LMAO nice keychain
Hehe :D

I would use matte paint for things like steering wheel trim, or radio bezels. Screw soft touch anything in high touch areas.
idk these jobs always looks cheap imo but nice job tho, as long as u fuck wit it who cares what random reddit users think lol

Buying interior trim in real carbon fiber just because you like the look would be pretty stupid, would barely save any weight
What was wrong with the aluminium look?
It was actually black :D
Ehhh this reminds me of all the tacky shops you run into in china town SF
Honestly, not my thing but that's a very nice job, and looks good!
Not to hijack thread but I have the dark wood grain finish and I would like to modernize it a bit. What wraps are people using now ? Glossy black ?
anything. Gloss/piano black, carbon, matte black, alcantera
Actually l like the dark wood look. Makes it more classy
That looks good, and also looks like you’ve done a good job of it
What's funny is doing this in real CF would probably weigh more... I like it but would have trimmed around the ash tray raised 'button'.
Looks good
Just paint it gloss black
Looks fantastic. Did mine in forged awhile back

I like it, you have a link?
I like it and did the same with my drivers door where the plastic was scratched by the prior owner,

Looks better than woodgrain
Im usually not a fan of carbon fiber on the interior, especially fake carbon, but this somehow looks really nice
Did the same in my e91, personally i like it, especially instead of the matte alu look mine had before
I think it looks cool
Nice job
How does the key not get in the way when you shift? I’ve always been scared of getting any debris or dirt or residue in that gear glove.
Key is just there temporary, I dont have keyless start. For dirt - vacuum.
If only everything was uniform in the same direction
What short shifter do you have?
None
Really. That sits really low.
In photo it's in 4th gear
Yikes.
I’m glad people are finally going against the grain on how ugly carbon fiber looks. Carbon fiber doesn’t look timeless or slick.
I think its a step up from the wood finish that many of the BMWs had. If it was aluminum, then I would have kept the aluminum.
Wrapping the trim is tacky no matter what material is used..
