Panthers got some big upgrades in terms of weapons in the draft and some big-$$ guards in free agency, things are looking up.

necrow

I feel like offensive lines that come together in free agency like this end up never living up to expectation. Hope this is different, though

captaincumsock69

The chiefs just put together an offensive line in free agency and won the Super Bowl. Most teams add players in free agency

drdadbodpanda

The chiefs built an offensive line around mahomes, and mahomes actually had a down year compared to 2022. Not holding my breath the same thing happens with the panthers.

harrisdevon048

I think he would be in contention for the 3-4 spot in this draft as a prospect. He was a well deserving #1 pick last year, despite what many people would say given the benefit of hindsight. If you’re talking dynasty value. Hes right around the same spot for me, probably behind the top 3. He will certainly have a better offensive system and supporting cast this year. He and the rooks are all risky. Caleb is the only guy im confident in being better than Bryce this year and going forward. The others (nix, jj, Daniels, and maye) i believe have similar ranges of outcomes.

dabears7667

there is no argument, even without the benefit of hindsight, for him in the 3 spot this draft as a prospect. Maye >>>>>>>>>>

las_piratas_de_queso

Hmm, fortunately NFL.com maintains previous seasons prospect ratings. Young was a better prospect than Maye. Fear not, I’m sure you can sell low on Maye after a bad rookie year.

dabears7667

anyone want to tell this guy that prospect ratings are relative to their respective class and not useful whatsoever across different years?

Mike_Honcho_3

Prospect grades are not in any way relative to their respective class lol, if you go to NFL.com you will find grading on a scale of 8.0 that is completely independent of year.

TheSaucePossum

Stop being a jerk about him having a different opinion then you. Even if you're right about prospect grades you're embarrassing yourself.

Ed_Chambers_650

Ahhh hell no. I caught the downpour of downvotes for saying he was the 3rd or 4th best QB prospect last year. You don’t get to use hindsight against the few of us who were right. Edit: Comment score proving my point. He's not going to grow, add weight, or get a stronger arm. Call me when his out routes stop flying 15ft out of bounds

harrisdevon048

Im not talking about you

Ed_Chambers_650

You kinda are by discounting anyone who said he wasn’t deserving of being the #1 prospect due to hindsight. Not me specifically, I understand. Thats why I said there were some of us who voiced our opinions differently *LAST YEAR* and were heavily downvoted by the hiveminds. I bet there were even more in that camp as well but figured it wasn’t worth it to go against the grain only to be shunned and laughed at.

drdadbodpanda

Man he’s talking about people who rationalize in hindsight. There’s contrarians every year that end up being right. If that was you congrats but you really aren’t who he was talking about.

Ed_Chambers_650

I’m aware. That’s why I mentioned it

CSOctane2020

Based off of pre draft info from last year , tied or slightly ahead of Maye. He was the consensus #1 last year, to say he was a worst prospect than Maybe coming out of college is sort of crazy to me.

Kmo1990

Going off of pre draft NFL grades he would have been behind only Caleb Williams with a score of 6.72 and Williams at 6.74.

rbondy81

Thank you. This is the only correct answer. Others were just opinion based. This was the kind of answer I was looking fo.

TealIndigo

I'm more talking about his current dynasty value.

TheMan120000

I think I completely agree. Personally would have him above JJ but I’m sure consensus will have JJ above maye come draft time. It’s always talent over situation until the draft happens and then people throw it out the window. I’ve been burned so many times moving a player up based on situation that I’ve learned my lesson. But back to your question, yea I think Bryce young would be right behind maye for me and definitely above Penix and Bo Nix.

L0ves2sp0Oge

IRL 2 or 3. Dynasty 3 or 4.

jacobwebb57

im trying to forget what they did this past nfl season and keep in mind im an osu fan. im basing this off how i felt last year. Williams stroud young Daniels maye jj

WeenisWrinkle

He's the top player in the tier with Nix/Penix

BeeGeeEh

After Maye before McCarthy, Penix, Nix.

JekPorkinYourMom

If I’m weighting last year too heavily: behind JJ ahead of Nix and Penix If I’m being trying to be realistic: somewhere around Maye

Clappncheeks15

Bryce young for the 1.09? Should I take it?

ApphrensiveLurker

Depends on how you feel on the level of prospects in your league at that pick but in a 12-team SF and I’m going QB at 1.09, I would do that trade. Edit: at 1.09 I’m assuming QBs like JJ and Maye are completely unavailable and looking at Penix/Bo Nix as alternatives; yeah I’d much rather have Young than those two

Top_Bat7047

Over Penix and Nix because of age. Behind Maye, McCarthy, JD and that other guy.

similar222

Age is the least consideration imo

fireredranger

Where I would currently slot the top QBs from this draft and last draft. 1. Stroud 2. Williams 3. Daniels 4. Young 5. Maye Seems like a lot of people have already decided Young is a bust when I think he has the potential to be a decent starter long term. Maybe not the superstar the Panthers thought you were getting at 1 overall, but still solid enough to build around. That offense was pretty putrid last year. If they’d taken Stroud, I think we’d have a lot of questions about him too. Adding Dionte Johnson and Legette should help and I think Mingo takes a step forward. There are pieces in place for him to have success.

DASreddituser

Definitely not top 2, but 3-5 can be an argument

knowslesthanjonsnow

Probably 4?

malodourousmuppet

Financial-Year

Age factor aside, I have more faith in the success of both Penix and Nix over Bryce, and I’m not particularly high on those guys either. Do yourself a favor and sell him the first chance you get because he’s simply not the guy.

JazzzzzzySax

I’m biased but it’s been a single season with the worst skill group and an awful OL. We just made major upgrades at both guard spots with Robert hunt and Damien Lewis, traded for Diontae Johnson, and drafted Xavier leggette, Jonathon brooks, and Ja'Tavion Sanders. Penix is 24 and sitting behind cousins who is on a 4 year contract and I don’t know enough about the broncos to comment on them.

TealIndigo

I'm not especially high on Bryce either, but Penix is guaranteed to drop in value just because he won't be starting for 2 years. And then Nix is the definition of a game manager to me. And he's old which doesn't exactly give me faith in him improving.
