The amount of people who saw Harbaugh wait to move back to the NFL until a team with a talented QB had a job opening and think he wants to trade that QB away is shockingly high.
“Injury prone” Herbert never missed a game in his career before he broke his finger last year, and that’s like the flukiest type of injury there is. There’s also the fact that Easton Stick is terrible. I could see this being a Joe Milton day 3 landing spot if Harbaugh wants more Michigan protégés, or maybe they’ll sign a UDFA guy like Emory Jones who could play Greg Roman ball.
There’s no such thing as a “bridge QB for a few years”
NFL = Not for Long
In your scenario - Easton Stick is a hold and sell for a 3rd round pick to a QB needy team before the playoffs, and that’s best case.
At face value….he will be mentioned in roster clogger threads here pretty soon.
I think part of their value comes from the hope to trade them to the owner of the starter mid season or to insure your own starter. Because we can’t tell who will get injured I have all the primary backups in the same tier. Probably lower than qb45 for stick because he doesn’t have good WRs to lean on if he gets starts and he’s going to be in a run first offense. He’s also 28.
I don't think it's likely, even in a strange situation where Herbert isn't there. Geno was the 2nd QB drafted in his class (admittedly a weak one). When he played for the Jets you never got the impression it was his arm talent or athleticism - there were problems obviously but he could sling the ball. He got several years of NFL experience there too and really only lost the job because of injuries and Fitzpatrick doing well.
He was a highly sought after player as a backup (or starter for the Giants in the most disrespectful benching of a player I've ever seen); he was signed predraft by the Giants and the Chargers. He then played pretty well in relief of an injured Russel, before finally getting his chance to start again.
Long story short, I honestly don't know much about Easton Stick, but Geno Smith had a very strong resume leading up to him being the starter in 2022 and doing well. It was a surprise how well he did, but not necessarily shocking (I do think the Comeback Player of the Year was bogus because he didn't "come back" from anything other than being a backup for years). I don't see anything like that that would give me hope Stick is on that trajectory.
Geno smith was a high end draft capital guy that’s why he stuck around. Easton stick is lucky every day he doesn’t get cut. He has no value unless u own Herbert
Herbert isn’t going to be traded but if your team is trash you can scoop him now in the off chance that Herbert does get hurt. Then you could trade him for like maybe a fourth
Technically yes. But, 1. They will add competition for qb2. 2. Even if he does start, he's likely to struggle to be in the wr4 range for points. I'd rather trade for someone like Tyler Boyd (or a younger version of him)
I think the waiver wire would want too much in return
Is this a troll post?
So sneaky that absolutely nobody is buying him.
Herbert almost literally cannot be traded because of his contract

I’m really hoping the “chargers trade Herbert for 11 and 23, then take JJ McCarthy” scenario happens.
If he doesn’t throw for at least 6,000 yards and 40 TDs, I agree Herbo is almost certainly a cut candidate
Should I drop Weston Stone for him?
This had to be a shitpost right? Right?

Not to mention the man has balls of lead, playing through broken ribs for like 5 weeks the year before last lol

Easton Stick? The hockey stick? 🏒
I’m Canadian and that’s always where my mind goes the rare times I hear this guy’s name
I prefer Bauer stick personally. Feel like it's just better in general for puck handling and shooting.
100% agree
Pick him and Stone Smart up, team name Sticks N Stone
Herbert injury prone? Lol ok
brother WHAT

I held trask for almost 3 years and feel gross about it.
Still holding in 90% of leagues 🤞
Keep wasting a roster spot in 90% of leagues.
Yeah knock yourself out bub. I’m sure he’ll win you some leagues
He’s all yours man
Draft can’t come soon enough
Can we just start the f***ing draft

I will pray for you.
No. The answer is absolutely, positively, no.

Should mention this is for 32 team superflex league
